CRT has nothing to do with Making White People uncomfortable
ProfD replied to daniellegfny's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Black history should be part of the curricula at every level of education all year round. Teaching black history should not be confined to one month and one week. -
White Conservatives Rage Over Super Bowl Halftime Show
ProfD replied to Stefan's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
IMO, the halftime show was excellent. I was very proud of Hip-Hop music representing so well. Destroying property in celebration or protest especially in one's own community makes no sense to me. -

Knowledge can empower folks to treat each other better or worse. It's important for people to know their truth...history. -
Trump accounting firm disavows 10 years of financial statements
ProfD replied to Stefan's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
They are spending a lot of time and money chasing former POTUS 45's financial info. It's been ongoing since before he was elected. Former POTUS 45 is Teflon. There is a reason he will never be found guilty of anything. A whole lot of dominoes will fall if he goes down and starts singing. -
Facts bro. Super dope is the operative word. Only a handful of black folks have had it so far. Reminds me of that scene in Malcolm X when the brothas were lined up outside the hospital. They didn't move until Malcolm gave the sign. The police officer's response said it all.

Yep. There's a thread about this topic but it's all good. Welcome back bro. Jews got that juice if/when anyone comes against them. Anybody can get it. The kid with a lemonade stand will be called an antisemite and shutdown if they say the wrong thing.

Right. He was acquitted criminally but unsatisfied with that verdict they found him liable (guilty) in civil court. Goldman's father is still chasing that money. He's hired someone to keep an eye on every nickel OJ earns. The interesting part is the lawsuit cannot touch O'Js pension. He gets %25k per month for the rest of his life. Fame and fortune is easy to lose if/when one doesn't play by the rules. I hope the soccer player can move on from this situation.
-
@Stefan, of course, I was not making a joke of the tragedy. My comment was to illustrate the fact that OJ was acquitted of a criminal offense but they held him responsible in a civil lawsuit.

A wholly owned black firm would not have to address and/or levy a severe punishment for such an offense. Black folks know they're under a different magnifying glass yet they continue to crash into the glass like an angry bird. I remember when Tiger Woods ex-wife went upside his head with one of his golf clubs. Sponsors dropped him. They convinced him to enter a rehab for sex addiction. Tiger's ex-wife got half of his half billion dollar fortune despite him having a $25 million prenuptial agreement. I cannot imagine infidelity voiding a pre-nup since side pieces is the main reason for having such an agreement. He had a terrible lawyer. Nonetheless, while Tiger didn’t want to claim being one...they treated his azz like a black man. Stripped him of everything until they were satisfied with his atonement. Black folks gotta play by their rules and know they will be harshly punished for painting outside the lines. We can't do anything they disagree with and get away with it. Just ask OJ.

Black. History. Critical. Race. Theory..
ProfD replied to harry brown's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
The United States of America's black history is being whitewashed in plain view. There's no shortage of Americans who would love for the peculiar institution of slavery to be a distant memory despite its lingering effects. The USA wants to rewrite its history to erase and/or marginalize the millions of black folks who gave their lives to building this great nation and those who fought for the freedom of future generations of AfroAmericans to survive and thrive in it. I fear that at some point in the future, the only black folks names to be found in a US History book will be Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama. I think AfroAmericans had better start researching and embracing our history past, present and future. Our history should be told in books, TV, film, music, fashion, etc. It will be disasterous to allow others to tell our history. -
It's all good. Hang on to your hat as we go around the track of these topics.

@richardmurray, this is a dicussion forum. We provide our thoughts and opinions on topics often times tangentially. No need take whatever I write as an affront.

There is enough money within the black community to keep Ebony magazine afloat financially. Also, there is enough black wealth that the magazine could be FREE. The major challenge is getting folks to sponsor, subscribe and read it.

Brotha Colin Kaepernick will one day be recognized as a modern day hero for AfroAmericans. He doesn't hate America nor the police. He took a stand (knee) against supremacy and police brutality in America. It took 4 years for the NFL to acknowlege what he was trying to tell them with his protest. Unfortunately, not enough AfroAmericans took a knee with him. Here we are almost 6 years after Kap took a knee and a former black head coach had to file a lawsuit in order for the NFL to admit it that it has a diversity problem within the coaching ranks. AfroAmericans need more heroes like Colin Kaepernick and Brian Flores. I hope they continue using their platform to usher in a new era of black activism. -
Ms. Betty Davis was a huge influence on music. She inspired her ex-husband, legendary trumpeter Miles Davis to stretch the boundaries of Jazz.

I'll check. I believe the last issue I received was a commemorative edition for the founder Earl G. Graves.

@Cynique, it's all good. One day I'll stop sermonizing here.

Financial success is relative because it's necessary for survival. IMO, if Ebony magazine can restore the sense of pride in black beauty and excellence as it once did, that would be a another form of success. I'd love to see black women get away from hair weaves, fake eyelashes and other Eurocentric versions of beauty. Black folks all over the planet are naturally beautiful, intelligent, creative and talented. It needs to be highlighted through every medium.
-
@richardmurray, as you have requested/presented, IMO, history shows the black community has given education more power than it deserves. Education along with religion seems to be the only weapons and mainly as a panacea, black folks have been willing to use in order to cope with the system of white supremacy. You're correct in pointing out the fact that in order to take whatever they want and maintain power, white folks have always been willing to shed as much blood as necessary to include having folks kill among themselves. They are the devil personified.

Georgia DA says she's not afraid to continue building her case. She's going to follow the evidence wherever it leads and subpoena whoever needs to be called. Nobody is exempt. -

Whether life is a mystery or a question, UGK said, "one day you're here...and then you're gone". I say live your life to the fullest because the end is always near. The leading cause of death among human beings is birthdays. The next one might be the last...
