Chilli of TLC: Black and 1/16th Indian
ProfD replied to tipsyturv's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
It would be interesting to see what those mixed race folks would do if whites declared war on non-whites. Most of them would not be able to hide or blend. I guess they would be fine with 2nd class status when the dust settled. -
Same here. I'm fairly computer literate but haven't put any extra effort into figuring out the problem.

Dave Chappelle in hot water with trans community
ProfD replied to Delano's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
As you all may have read in another thread, I love stand-up comedy. I believe Dave Chappelle is the most brilliant comedian on the planet. He's right on the money with his latest special. -

No. I think black folks should embrace being black and proud of it. Trying to identify every ingredient in the cake is an exercise in futility. Just enjoy it. Nor do I see a constructive benefit in a person knowing and/or believing they're mixed. It's not like they're going to use it in order to overcome racism. -

As a bobble head, er, talking head, these folks can check as many boxes as they want on the census form. But, the main categories are White, Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. Again, I know what racists see. -
Pioneer, I take it you have a plan to insure your financial needs are met. Be well. The ripple effects of this pandemic are wide. Population control. Social divide. Workforce restructuring. Do not be distracted by the balls juggling in the air. Always watch their hands.

Excellent advice. Young black men especially need to learn this skill in order to live another day and file a police report if necessary.
-
Absolutely. Engaging with an authority figure from a position of pseudo-respect de-escalates the situation with minimal contact. When I was a younger cat, nobody was going to disrespect me. It was easy to whup azz if/when problems arose. Thrn, my godfather opened my eyes to killing with kindness. It has served me well throughout my life. "Thanks" goes a long way too.

IMO, the biggest mistake black folks make is consistently relying on white folks to give them a job. As I mentioned in another thread, black folks should be thinking strategically especially when it comes to entrepreneurship. Case in point. Detroit had plenty factories. Black folks had the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to run it. When the white folks abandoned the factory, Black folks should have pooled their resources, bought and reopened it to build things. In a NF Jr voice, what did black folks do but go home and sit on the porch and scratch their heads. Oh well, no more jobs guess I'll sell drugs. Last time I visited Detroit about 16 years ago, property values dried up so bad, I heard you could buy a whole single family house for a stack ($1,000). This happened in every major city that once had manufacturing jobs. Baltimore, MD is the same way. Straight depressing. I can buy an entire city block of housing right now for about $500k. Problem is there's no infrastructure to make it worthwhile. I'd have to do what Dan Gilbert did in Detroit and Cleveland. Use my own money to rebuild a city. Music is my thing. Early on, Hip-Hop was a gold mine. White folks didn't wanna have anything to do with it. Thought it was a passing fad. Black folks were making legal dope money selling their own music. White folks caught wind of it, decided to front the money and n8gglets cashed out. Now, Japanese folks (Sony) own the master tapes. They pay black folks a salary to produce their own music. Manufacturing comes in different forms but the bottom line is to produce good, products and services and more importantly, own the business. I'm definitely hip to cats like Napoleon Hill. His book should be right next to that Bible that seems to be present in every Black household. I can go on all day regarding this topic because I'm passionate about it but sista Cynique is tired of hearing about what black folks should do.

Not in my experience and observation. Where I live, we see blue. Let's get this encounter over and done with so that I/we can get back to whatever we were doing previously.

Do you guys truly believe the BLACK RACE is CURSED
ProfD replied to Rev's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Yessir. Mooney was the man behind the legend. He seemingly had no problem with playing his position. Mooney's stand-up delivery did seem to have an edge of rage but his ability to turn his observations into comedic source material was brilliant. He made people think and laugh. I have no proof whatsoever but I suspect that brotha Mooney may have been a closet member of the alphabet soup community who was old skool with it. Nonetheless, he was one of my favorite comedians. -
Politicians aren't enriching black folks because we don't have enough of an economic infrastructure in place to take advantage of government contracts, small business loans, subsidies, tax breaks, etc. Otherwise and unfortunately, it looks like the primary way black folks get a windfall of cash is by accident (killed, injured, discrimination, etc.) or by luck ...hitting the lottery.

Pioneer, I'm not in disagreement with a benevolent dictatorship. That's how most countries operate. But, it only works when there is no racism. On the planet, I would say that 80% of the work most people do is physical to some degree. About 20% of the workforce sits behind a desk and about 10% of them have their feet up on it. China only became the modern day plantation because it's cheap labor. Companies make maximum profits by shipping jobs overseas. Technology in the form of automation will be the final nail in the labor coffin. As soon as machines can farm and build things faster than human beings, there will be even fewer jobs. Not sure about where you all live but cashiers are disappearing around here. The honor system of self-checkout is in full swing. Unless I'm in a hurry, I still look for a human being to ring up my purchases. But, I see the handwriting on the wall. The cashier's days are numbered. Non-technical educated professionals will be replaced in a few decades too. I believe the pandemic was a dry run in showing how many white collar jobs (administrative and management) aren't required. Folks need to strap in because if they don't know how to use their hands and/or mind to produce goods and services, it will be a perpetual "Winter in America".

Yep. I called Benny with that lisp a modern day ambulance chaser under the guise of civil rights. But, I have no contempt for him. Get paid. Help others get paid too. Do something with the money. I'm pro-Black to a fault but I still call balls and strikes as I see it. Anybody can get it. When my people do well, I'm proud. When n8gglets are f8cking up, I acknowledge that too. I want black folks to win on all levels...constructively. Beneath my intellect, there's also a comedian. Factor that into what I write as well. Emojis don't always get the point across.

You're CONFUSED...That's The Real Problem.
ProfD replied to Pioneer1's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Yep. There is a fine line between spicy enough to enjoy and too hot to taste. When I cook for other folks' consumption, I do not compromise the flavor of food for the sake of bringing the heat. But, I've always got my own stash of hot sauce to top off my portion. Cosby was a brilliant comedian. D8mn shame that dude looking chick helped in getting him thrown into greater confinement for a minute. White supremacy sent their message. As it relates to eliminating confusion, it would help if artists and musicians wrote songs with a real message that made the listener think and learn. Common is a conscience rapper. Jay-Z rapped that he could write lines like Common Sense but ever since he made $5 million, he ain't been rapping like Common since. Fast forward to present and these mumble rap n8gglets are not only rapping about nonsense, they repeat the same dumb azz lines as if they have a speech impediment. That sh8t is to music what McDonald's is to nutrition. -
I think PTSD is the primary cause of it. They deal with and see things that cannot be unseen and/or forgotten. That's why I believe psychological evaluations need to be more extensive especially when folks want to go into law enforcement or military service. Also, mental health really needs to be addressed in this country across the board. I believe many folks have pre-existing mental conditions that go undetected. Anyone who's ever dealt with social services knows that some folks are unqualified to issue drivers licenses or food stamps. That funky azz attitude could be a mental problem.

Mzuri, all is well. No worries. I don't debate. Most folks know how to comply with police. As I mentioned, most encounters end without a problem. Unfortunately, there are ignorant people on both sides, citizens and law enforcement. That's when problems arise. Some people have little or no regard for life whether it's their own or someone else's. That needs to be fixed.

Roads, bridges, highways, tunnels and facilities are in need of repair and maintenance. There's massive amounts of landscaping and clean up that needs to be done too. America should be beautiful everywhere we look. Not a piece of trash or a blade of grass should be out of place. No robots required. People need to get their hands dirty.
-
Mzuri, the young man didn't do himself any favors in that situation but under the circumstances he didn't deserve to be shot in the back.
-
I saw the Fanon reference. He was heavy and a genius. Gone too soon at 36 years old. Yet, his work influenced so many others. I was consumed with your racial detachment.
-
I'm not surprised. Between the stem cell injections and Botox shots, he has to get out of dodge before he falls asleep and/or starts melting. A 35 year old person can run for POTUS. Yet, the last two have been septuagenarian. By no means am I advocating age discrimination. I just want 20 diverse and smart candidates on the next ballot for the general election.
-
Cynique, I'll eventually get used to this self-imposed divorce from the black race. Also, I can definitely understand how the sight of rows of tall corn and wheat and sound of n8gglet farmers over time can be fatiguing. In the meantime, I'll continue looking forward to enjoying whatever jewels you decide to drop. The barbershop harmonies of the Four Freshmen gives me a visual of the saccharine 1950s. But, it's cool. At least I know you like Chaka. Keep the music coming too.

I'm a huge fan of comedy. That dude was one of the greatest to grace the planet. Glad my favorite living comedian (Dave Chappelle) gave him shine on his show. Real recognize real. Bummer that I didn't get to see Mooney perform live before he left the rock. -
I wouldn't call the Chinese employment program an exercise in diversity. Xi Jinping is gangsta as a benevolent dictator. He's running the country in excess of 1.5 billion people according to code (Communism). China has a caste system and opportunities are handed out within it. Same goes for India. But, to your point, the US does have plenty blue and green collar work that needs to be done. The Infrastructure program should address it.

CHICAGO: DA Foxx and Mayor Lightfoot Dispute Over Deadly Shoot-Out
ProfD replied to Mzuri's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
True. That's why the code is suggestions. But, I think only reproducing that which one can afford makes sense. We don't need more lost and wayward folks running around being a menace to society.
