  1. Troy I think the criticism is a little to harsh. It's a CANDY BAR COMMERCIAL....not a documentary on Hiphop and the evolution of Urban dancing....lol. Personally, I appreciate the fact that Hershey decided to CATER TO the early Hiphop crowd and Urban AfroAmerican culture while so many other commercials at that time ignored us and many STILL do. One of the things I liked about Western Europe (and Canada) was despite it's low Black and definitely low AfroAmerican population, they seem to have an appreciation.....even if it's just superficial....of AfroAmerican music and artistic skills. When I was in Germany and Belgium I remember going to the markets and other public places and heard a lot of modern (for that time) and old school Hiphop being played! Like I said in another thread, they played hard core Hiphop like Black Rob and Too Short on the television commercials in Canada! You don't get that in the U.S. Not in the supermarkets, the gas stations, not even the liquor stores. We were talking about Walmart in another thread. You go to the Walmarts in the U.S. and they're playing damn COUNTRY MUSIC.....even in inner city stores. No respect or appreciation for Black home grown talent. So I can't get mad at Hershey for not hiring the Breakers from Beat Street to make their candy bar commercial more authentic for their Bronx audience, lol.
  2. Troy Try again for what? According to this quote: .....you pretty much agree with my statement, lol. "But relatively speaking, a monopoly by default IS good....for the firm who actually holds it."
  3. 🙄 Sheeeeyit...... Maybe I should be careful of what I ask for.....lol.
  4. I still maintain that the racist powers are trying to either PUNISH him or quite possibly REMOVE him because of his current opposition to illegal non-Black immigrants being forced into New York. They want him to be a push-over, more like Brandon Johnson of Chicago. Like you said earlier, they want ANYBODY who'll just go along with the "program"....race doesn't matter.
  5. Hold on, wait a minute........ Don't jumble all of my points up together....lol. I mentioned those films as EXAMPLES OF SERIES films. Not the I necessarily like them all. I do like Equalizer though. I said that ONE of the films I'd like to do is about the Haitian Revolution. One of many. Still trying to remember the specific type I wanted to mention to you though.
  6. But I wanted to specialize in a particular TYPE of movie...... Although it wasn't what I was thinking about earlier, we DO need a movie about the Haitian Revolution.
  7. richardmurray MAN....I thought about YOU today at work when I was washing my hands, lol. I was talking to another brother and had a quick FLASH of inspiration of the type of movies I wanted to make if I had the money and connections to produce them. I had them down pat, exactly what I wanted to produce.....and messed around and forgot it by the time I got home. We were talking about Denzel Washington and his new Equalizer movie.....and then he wanted to play Hannibal in another flick. I wanted to do a SERIES of movies kind of like that. Along the lines of Equalizer, Matrix, Friday, etc.....
  8. I remember seeing this one in TORONTO CANADA believe it or not........ I wanna say the late 90s but it could have been the early 2000s. Very early 2000s.
  9. Sista Dee! I'm not sure why yall don't think THAT commercial would fly in New York when I remember there used to be some White dude in a cowboy hat and drawers playing country music on his guitar in the middle of Manhattan....lol. And that was back in the 90s or 2000s if I'm not mistaken.....lol.
  10. I see Warren ain't changed since I was a kid....... 40 and 50 years ago I heard old folks making jokes about Warren and how Black folks better not so much as drive through there if they want to make it back home to Detroit. Warren and Dearborn were the two spots for Black folks to stay away from. Not just because they WERE nearly all White....but because the Whites were POOR and ANGRY. Dearborn got taken over by the Arabs in the 80s and ain't went back since. But the White folks in Warren were FIERCE. I could give people a Doctoral Thesis on race-relations in the Detroit area.....lol. Unlike most parts of the country, the Detroit area had a lot of "ethnic" White folks like Polish, Italian, Irish, Jewish, and other groups. Especially on the Eastside of the metro area. They tend to be more racist....and unapologetically racist...than the regular run of the mill comb-his-hair-to-the-side White folks who'll wave at you with a shitty smile as he walks his dog past you....lol. Warren is full of White folks of Italian and Irish descent so I'm not surprised at all. Back in the 70s and 80s all they DID was stand around smoking cigarettes and pacing back and forth on the sidewalks complaining about the Black folks down in Detroit and what they'd do to them if they decided to cross "the line"....lol. Many of them are still angry at being driven out of Detroit back in the 60s and 70s.
  11. Some of these bruthaz would run up in ANYTHING. If it has a hole and will give him a chance.....he's up in it. I used to complain and shake my head at how some of these women behaved in the streets....wondering what kind of man would even be bothered with a hood rat like that. But then, I look at some of these dusty dudes and my question would usually be answered that same day. I'm not a fan of Eugenics because of it's origins.....but I'm a huge proponent of AFR0genics! The smartest and most *naturally successful Black men and women should be hooking up with eachother and having more children.....reproducing those good genes. Offset that negative energy. *By "naturally successful" I mean gaining success through intelligence, morality, industriousness, and other positive attributes. Not getting paid millions by White folks to promote filth and foolishness.
  12. Say what????? All of the University life and rubbing elbows with wealthy and educated people up in New York and you JUST learned about swinging 12 years ago??????? Man.......don't tell nobody else that, LOL.
  13. Lol....yall heads are shaped the same, but that's just about where the "resemblance" ends as far as I'm concerned. With all due respect to the brutha, Adams looks like a turtle.
  14. WALMART 😏 It's a one stop anchor and community center in nearly every small town in the U.S. I've been to Wal-Marts down South and nearly EVERYBODY in the community does business at the local Wal-Mart. Shop for food. Shop for household items. Get their hair cut Eat at the various fast food joints each one hosts. Get lunch or dinner at the deli Get licenses. Wire money Get and send mail. The list goes on.........
  15. There's something about having sex with a real person that doesn't seem to have a replacement. Masturbation and watching pornography doesn't hit that spot for most people. Better than nothing....but not like the real thing. And especially with men....there is usually a sense of "accomplishment" from having sex with a woman you've been pursuing for a while. It's instinctive and global too. I've talked to men around the planet from different races and cultures and most of them share the same sentiments about the pride and satisfaction that comes from finally "getting" that woman you were going after. This is why I can't knock polygamy. I think it's natural for some if not most men at a certain point in their lives.
  16. It's not just her muscularity that I PERSONALLY don't find attractive, but her very confident attitude as well. While it's good for most women to be confident to a certain extent; and in older women it seems to be attractive.....again to a CERTAIN EXTENT....it's easy to go overboard with this trait. Like you said, different strokes for different folks. Some brothers LOVE highly confident women. Hell...some dudes like women with hairy legs and baby mustaches too....lol.
  17. Now they're accusing him of sexual assault.......................... Clearly, homeboy is being targeted for SOME reason. I believe it's over his opposition to the immigrants being pushed on the city, but perhaps there are other reasons.
  18. And some women are just plain nymphos.....lol. They never seem to get enough sex. No matter how good a man is, she'll want more and more....from multiple men! I've learned there is no sense in even TRYING to get involved with women like that. Fred Sanford said: Don't mess around with them, boy. I'd rather try to JUGGLE a relationship with 3 "normal" women than get involved with just ONE nymphomaniac....lol. richardmurray Lol...I was wondering the same thing. I had already read your post.... Then I read his post, which sounded like it was in agreement....but it read like it was in DISAGREEMENT....lol. So I had to go back up and RE-READ your post....lol.
  19. Whaaaaat.......lol. Man, I kinda liked this commercial. Ofcourse if you compare it to TODAY after Hiphop has matured so much, it looks a little corny. But back in the mid 80s (I believe) when it first came out, just seeing Black folks on television rapping and Breakdancing was the jam! You didn't see that much on regular television. I only saw THIS one a few times. I remember being over my cousin's house and it was about 10 of us in the basement and we were arguing over New Edition.....lol You have to put that commercial in it's proper CONTEXT. I think this and a few other Hiphop commercials came on during and right after Soul Train or some other Black themed program. I remember Hiphop McDonald's commercials...lol.
  20. I did see the Preachers Wife. I don't remember much of it though.....lol. It was one of those rare Denzel Washington movies that I didn't care too much for. I'm not sure what he was thinking when he made that one. They could have saved some money and took it straight to the Lifetime Channel. On the flip side of that same coin.....just got through seeing Equalizer 3! It was pretty good. Very violent....but good performance.
  21. Lol...I would presume MOST dudes prefer softer women if they have a choice. Show me a man who prefers a hard core woman with muscles bigger than his.....I'll show you a man who doesn't REALLY want a woman. He has a secret.....lol.
  22. And ESPECIALLY when you have someone else (like a White man) taking on the responsibility to maintain society by keeping the trains running, keeping the police force together, maintaining a military, keeping the farms operating and food growing. Let THEM be the "adults" of society while niccaz run around in robes, sandals, and nappy beards preaching on microphones and arguing about Jesus, Muhammad, and when the world is going to end.
  23. Troy I don't see monopolies as necessarily good OR bad. They are what they are....depending on the circumstances. It's like arguing whether or not cars are good or bad. If you ask most people, they'll say cars are good. If you ask victims of serious car accidents, some of them probably wish cars were never invented. But relatively speaking, a monopoly by default IS good....for the firm who actually holds it.
  24. Does anyone remember this commercial from back in the 80s............ I do. Hadn't even seen it since the 80s until came across it a few weeks ago. Somebody reminded me of it and I went-a-huntin'.....and finally found it. Although I have to admit...... I don't remember seeing so many White folks dancing around in it as I see, lol.
