  1. At first, when I saw the following video, I thought, making alot out of nothing. Like the many characters who in one way or another had a surprising new edition into their ransk: female thor: the gay robin . as a writer, I always say, I don't care what any writer does with any character not my own. For my own characters I have a key caveat. Don't say your manipulation has anything to do with my character unless I say so.  I can't stand when any artist speaks for another artist's imagination. To rephrase, if I make a character plus the world that character lives in, if you manipulate my character or make some version of my character in my world, please don't say I concur to that or it is appropriate, unless I say so.

To that end, this spider man of universe something is fine. Stan Lee supported the multiverse. And he was open for artists to do what they want. So I have full acceptance to this new spider man.

But, the video presenter below makes some good points.

First, is this spider man a black superman/black green lantern style character? of course

Second, is the multiverse a cheap way to create versions of characters to satsify audiences for films especially? yes it is.

Third, is the multiverse problematic for comics? 100% the writing for comics becomes silly.

Fourth, is this design crude? I think it is. why yellow? why stand like that? why a fashion designer? The people online I know who are members of the lgbtq+ community would call this baiting I believe. ala like the original luke cage, which is baiting. the urban negro hero is easy to say, we got one know:)

Fifth, is this done for readers? No But the video maker doesn't comprehend that, it is alright.

I am a fan of The three musketeers from Dumas, very few films have ever been fair to the books. But that is ok. And that is what comic book fans have to realize. The film industry has taken over the storytelling of the comic book industry. It isn't that comic books are bound to films. but the makers of the highest profile comic books are looking to use the characters to promote films. Sequentially, comic book readers have to curate their reading or acquisitions far more than in the past. or they will get caught into comic books whose sole purpose is to make a character or attach a plot point to a film, whose audience mostly will not read the comics.
