THE ISRAELITES-- Song by Desmond Dekker and the Aces--

I heard this song a few weeks ago on a dvd I bought for one dollar from a local Dollar Tree store. I loved the movie, it was awesome. And this song was at the beginning of the movie.

At first,  I did not understand the lyrics at all, but it just stuck in my mind and I found myself listening to it over and over again.

The film was a UK film called "Made in Daghenam" and it's based on a true story set at the time this song became very popular. I loved that movie so much, I have watched over and over again!

Finally after hearing that song at the beginning of the movie, I finally heard and understood, the word "Israelites" and I thought, WOW! I know that certain Jamaicans especially the Rastas and other people of the West Indies identify themselves as Israelites and the fact that this song became a big hit in the UK and even here in America amazes me.

This song is so famous that it was remade a couple of times decades later.

Again, this song was so popular that Desmond Dekker performed this Reggae song many times before he died. And, it became popular in many other countries across the world.

Ha! And when I researched this song, I found out that Desmond Dekker knew Bob Marley and he was one of the first Jamaicans to become popular for Reggae. Also, I found out that I was not the only one to not understand what the lyrics expressed! There were reports of how the meaning was mis-understood.

Desmond wrote this song based on the experiences of the Jamaicans of that time period:

the single was the first UK reggae #1 and among the first to reach the US top ten (peaking at #9).[3] It combined the Rastafarian religion with rude boy concerns,[4] to make what has been described as a "timeless masterpiece that knew no boundaries".[5]

The title has been the source of speculation,[8] but most settle on the Rastafarian Movement's association with the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

"Israelites" was one of the first truly international Ska hit singles, peaking at #9 in the US and #1 in the UK. There were fears that Dekker's heavy Jamaican accent on the recording would limit international appeal as listeners would find it difficult to understand the lyrics, and indeed jokes abound about the many mis-hearings of the lyrics of the song. "Get up in the morning, slaving for bread sir" was misheard as "Get up in the morning, baked beans for breakfast" for example, and comedian Lenny Henry famously joked about how many people thought the "ooh, mi Israelites" line was actually "oooh, mi ears are alight"! Despite this and indeed because of the humor from the misheard lyrics, the song became a huge hit singl

More about the song, THE ISRAELITES, written by Desmond Dekker:

The Israelites were the inhabitants of Israel descended by Jacob. The word can also be used to describe one of God’s chosen people. Dekker uses the meaning in this later context, as he sings about his struggles while repeatedly invoking the term.

Again, the movie that played this song in the beginning is based on a true story about women machinist working for the Ford Industry in UK and became so popular that it became a musical as well:

  3. I did not get to watch much of the Olympics, but I did here in the news that one of my favorites, Allyson Felix faired very well!

Also, another of my all time favorites, the Jamaican track star, Shelly Anne Fraiser-Pryce did well! Her teammate took the gold Herah and is now known as the fastest women on the track field! And she put the propaganda of Sha'carri to rest.

A few days later all of the track stars competed in the Prefontaine classic and Sha'carri came in dead last.

    Ha! Absolutely.

I haven't seen any other literature anywhere else calling King James a Black man.

Ha! Well, that does sound crazy, but guess what!? They are saying this in a strange sort of way but yeah, there are many other people who say this about not only King James, but that whole entire family line!!! However, they use other terminology than this group of Hebrew Israelites.

Like @Troy I believe the street preaching group use a lot of propaganda to push their message, and like you @Pioneer1 I believe that that group strongly believe in the Bible, however, I also think that we African American DOS have been miseducated and sort of dumbed down about the reality of the presence of the millions and millions of Hebrew Israelites and Jews that have been scattered all over the world.

I doubt the late Nipsey Hussle and his family would have much to do with this group of street preachers.

Now if they were to be like Nipsey 'Ermias Joseph Asheghdom' and are able to get the attention and financial support of the very president/leader of Eritrea as Nipsey did, then they would become more significant.  If they were to get the attention of certain significant governments of the Original Hebrew Israelites in existence today, like the Eritreans and the original Jews who are part of Ethiopian government today, then they would become significant. But right now, most of the Original Hebrew Israelites in the western world are constantly here and in the West Indies, etc. under attack and are too divided to be counted seriously.

t's about nation building and yes, during the 19th century, 'the countries' in Africa were actually divided up into 'nations'!

So, Ethiopia, Egypt and Libya are ancient countries with a lot of history, but during the 19th century the continent of Africa was carved up into nations.

I'm not asking about "the continent of Africa" but about THREE SPECIFIC NATIONS.    Where the nations of Egypt, Ethiopia, and Libya "invented" in the 19th century?????

Since Troy REFUSES to answer the question....lol...will you answer it for him?

lol. Well @Pioneer1 Maybe I am not sure how to answer you as I thought I did. But I will try to explain in another way:

Egypt, Ethiopia and Libya were "invented" YES--as a unique NATION in the 19th century, but prior to this time, they were not known as nations, but by other descriptions.

In the past, the countries of Egypt, Ethiopia and Libya were defined by other standards and were not carved up to be 'an arm' of the Western Leagues of nations. Their history is way too long to explain as being 'one country' though.

"That's not true! The Bible is a compilation of many, many separate books written by different authors over the course of thousands of years"

"Two things can be right at the same time.

The Bible IS a book..and the Bible is COMPOSED of many different books."

Yes, in this case, both are true.

Again, 'The Bible' is a compilation of many books written by different authors over the course of thousands of years. The book of REVELATIONS was written by John, the Revelator during the time period of abt A.D. 90 during the Roman Empire times. So, whatever John was educated in script form was the language that he scripted to write his revelations. He definitely would not have written his book in any form of ancient Egyptian script at the time of the Roman Empire! He would not have written his book in any ancient Kemetic script form either.

    "Finally....a question answered!

So the Book of Revelations was NOT written in Egyptian ancient Kemetic script.

    Now we're getting somewhere."

"So are you suggesting that John wrote the book of Revelations in Greek or Roman?"

    Yes.

    WHAT!??? LOL!

    "Yes.
The Bible contains about 27 books of the New Testament.
If was dated back to the Exodus as you claim...that means that the New Testament books would have had to have been written atleast that far back too."

No. the authors of the New Testament did not live that far back in time.

Oh! That is the problem with using only one reference source!

"Well right now I'm using YOU as a reference....what is YOUR definition of "Bible"???

And can you please show me or give me a link to what YOU are calling "The Bible"."

Okay, I will look for a link. But my definition of 'Bible' would pertain to the root word of it, 'BIB' which refers to 'LIFE', like the word BIBLIOGRAPHY. The Bible is 'a Book of Life' and also define within it contexts as THE WORD OF THE LIVING GOD. It is also a compilation of the Word of God byway of the prophets of God of whom through divine inspiration wrote. And it has been translated out of the original tongue and languages into the languages used at perspective times. Finally, IMO, the only translations that matter would be the ones authorized by the head government because it will be that government that God will judge for their works by the Word of God at the third and fourth generation. Like, Egypt was judged, the empire governments were judged, therefore, this government will ultimately be judged based on the KJV because that was the translated version appointed under that government.

however, the Bible is a compilation of many, many separate books written by different authors over the course of thousands of years.  For example Solomon wrote the Book of Eccleisiates [sp?] and he lived during the 900s bc. It is a separate book. Then Jeremiah wrote his books over a hundred years later after Solomon; I think he wrote his book abt 700s BC. Then Nehemiah wrote his book over a hundred years later after Jeremiah, I think abt 400s BC during the Persian Empire times, etc.

    🤔????

Well how do you reconcile THAT statement you just made with the one you made on Posted July 23:

Again, the Bible was dated at the time of the EXODUS abt 1400s BC; it was written in the Egyptian script and language of that time period NOT European.

    Which is it?

Was the Bible written over thousands of years including up to and past 400 BC?

Or was it dated at the time of the Exodus of around 1400s BC?

The Bible was defined back then in the 1400s BC as 'the Word of God' or 'The Pentateuch' or 'the holy scroll'... That was how it was defined. By the time that the Levites compiled Solomons writings which was after he died, after the 900s BC, 'the Word of God' still may not have been known by the term 'BIBLE', rather it was termed 'THE WORD OF GOD' or 'the Holy Scroll'. Then by the time the Jews were a part of the empire systems, more writings of their ancient priesthood was collected and added to the 'holy scroll' and soon, the writings/books were made into 'SCRIPTURES', so therefore, 'the Bible' became known by other terms such as 'THE HOLY SCRIPTURES' by this time... Now today, we know it as THE BIBLE.

Certain Holy Scriptures or Holy Books written by the earliest prophets such as Moses was dated around the 1400s BC, Solomon's books were dated to his lifetime around the 900s BC and so forth.

Like most superb athletes at the level that Nia Dennis achieved, she also wanted to make to the Olympics, however, that dream was deferred I believe due to injuries. Nevertheless, awhile back, two of her floor routines received viral attention and much more. Her routines were dedicated to Black culture and because she executed her gymnastic skills so brilliantly, she received a lot of media attention from many celebrities and was invited to appear on many popular talk shows. She even received comments from former First Lady Michelle Obama. She dedicated music in her routines to certain celebrities like Beyoncé and more. One of my favorite parts of her performance was the amazing support she received from her teammates and especially her coaches. I just love to see her coach dance on the sidelines with her! The UCLA team though, has more than Nia, when it comes to brilliant performances! And so, here are the two floor routines that caused so much attention, however, I would also like to share another wonderful gymnasts' incredible floor routine on her team, Katelyn Ohasi, of whom scored a perfect 10 for her floor routine!

Also, I think that when she is dressed in everyday attire, she looks very lady-like, imo.

As for Sha'Carri, I think that she looks muscular when she has worked out, and one of those kind of athletes, even men, that when not working out, their muscles seems to soften.

I have never heard of the tennis player you posted!

But because of your comment, I would love to share another amazing athlete that you might appreciate. Her name is Nia Dennis and seems to be the kind of Black female athlete who has a physical appearance like the tennis player you shared.

Nia Dennis, at one time, was hoping to make it to the Olympics, but did not get that far. However, she is awesome and received a lot of attention for her talent!

I will post more about her in a new thread.

They say rape is a crime of opportunity and is more about control than lust. These are traits that are only found in a certain personality types. I really don't think every man is a potential rapist.  Am I wrong?

    I agree.

I believe much of it is about pure lust and sexual desperation too.

That too. @Pioneer1 I don't COMPLETELY understand why people would force themselves on someone else to rape. I do believe that rape can be due to the desire to have power and control over a person and also I think it can be an expression of intense hate too, though. I also think, as you have explained about your friend trying to serenade the girl, if he were to have the opportunity, he might have 'raped' her, but it would not be for power, control or hate, but just a kind of obsessive love. I do think that some men may overpower a female and force himself on her and have sex, but I don't think it would be the desire to dominate or control, but I think this kind of rape would also be defined as 'a kind of RAVISHING', nevertheless, it should definitely be defined as 'rape'. If a female does not consent and his forced upon, then it is tremendously damaging to say the least.

However, when I think of 'rape', I don't only think about aggressive men who rape women, but men rape children too, and then so do women and this too, needs to be addressed but strangely so, this kind of evil seems to always become swept under the rug.

What does it mean to be free to you? Or how would you describe freedom?

    WOW! What a thought!?

My first thought made me realize how I think on the basis of my present condition here in America and I now realize my freedom should not be based only on my present experiences, but on a much wider scale. And, therefore, I don't know how to answer, but now, I will ponder this for awhile.

    These questions has made me think about a recent research I stumbled across on the subject of FERAL HUMANS;

What kind of freedom would that be???

Personally, I would NOT want that kind of freedom to follow other creatures not high enough in intellect to teach me, as a human!

This kind of condition, has caused me to be thankful for other 'humans' who have taught me.

So now, I guess I have just come to a realization, that perhaps, 'Freedom' has to be given after a period of being in a controlled environment, and freedom may be based on others who have control over your life initially. Freedom has to be attained. ... Still thinking...

Most men of ALL races would probably do the same thing this young man did and be praised as a hero for doing it, but because he was a young Black man caught up in a man-made disaster and the story is being told by a sensation based media...the story is lost.

    This is so true.

This is 2021. Time for new political strategies too. Making martyrs out of petty crooks passing counterfeit 20-dollar bills is a temporary fix. The old "preaching-to-the-choir", bleeding heart scenarios are played out. if we want to keep the Retrumpicans from reclaiming the Senate and the Presidency we need to move toward the pragmatic middle and stop bitchin' about not being able to replace white supremacy with black superiority. Unfortunately, being "woke" doesn't win elections in an America that is not yet ready for a total make-over. I'm done .

Yes, I believe that we need new political strategies.
