  1. @ProfD the fight was sanctioned — apparently to allow for betting—which is all sports is about anyway. @Pioneer1 the answer to your question is obvious. Mike did it for money. His opponent is widely known through YouTube. I never heard of him, but apparently many millions of other people have, which was part of the draw for the fight. Like the good professor, I had no interest in watching the fight either I thought about placing a bet on Paul now I regret not doing it. Mike Tyson in his prime was exciting to watch, but he’s almost as old as I am; who wants to see that? Hopefully he didn’t take too many blows to the head. I’d hate to see him win all that money and not be able to truly enjoy. At least his descendants will benefit from it.
  2. Dude, I never said that. Why does nuance always escape you? She lost for both reasons and more. @Pioneer1 your constant casting of young black men as weed smoking lazy ne’er-do-wells is straight from the MAGA handbook. I don’t really care what @nels other political views are. I agree that Michelle had no chance to beat Trump. I’m not even convinced she would have done better than Hillary given the conditions. It is a pointless exercise as she wasn’t in position to be the presidential candidate. It is simply a pipe dream.
  3. Really? Do you really want to see a return of measles, small pox, whooping cough, polio, another COVID pandemic? Anti-vaxxers are an interesting bunch. I hope he gets rid of vaccine mandates too. It will be a great way to cull the herd. Natural selection will remove Anti-vaxxers from the gene pool raising our collective IQ by a standard deviation.
  4. Any revelations @frankster or anyone who watch the video. I haven’t watched it—a two-hour long congressional hearing without a promise of something new did not seem like a good use of my time.
  5. @nels unfortunately race is deeply infused into American culture. As crazy as it might sound, I think it would be a good idea to remove racial categories from everything census forms, college applications, police reports everything. As a people, we’ve already demonstrated the fact that our race is secondary to our culture. You have so-called straight up white women running NAACP chapters as as a black person and Black people supporting Trump In the deep south. As I’ve tried to explain to @Pioneer1 over the years race is purely a social construct with no basis genetics. Again, we should completely dispense with it, but this is America and that probably won’t happen at any of our lifetimes.
  6. Welp @nels and @Pioneer1 are more reflective of the majority of the electorate…
  7. @Pioneer1 @nels response is just one of many reasons Michelle is not an ideal candidate today. Still the culture of celebrity is strong don’t be disputed by more of them in office. Reagan, Trump, Taylor Swift for president.
  8. Nah, one less algorithm available to hijack my attention with nonsense @Mel Hopkins
  9. It is possible many of those “uncommitted” voters simply did not vote this time. In terms of the swing states clearly trump appealed to more if these folks as he ran the table with those states.
  10. @Pioneer1 that FDR quote is fiction, he never said such a thing, that is why you can’t find a source. I hear the main reason Kamala lost was the millions who sat out or voted third party.
  11. well that is the American narrative. How often do you even see stats on Americans leaving for Mexico? it’s estimated that between 800,000 and 1.5 million Americans currently reside in Mexico. That is like everyone living in Vermont and Wyoming moved to Mexico.
  12. Thank you @Mel Hopkins “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house,” —Audre Lorde Interestingly, shortly after Elon took over I was locked out of my Twitter account and have been prevented from going back in. @aalbc is still there but is inactive. I had sometime check. I can’t even look at my old account.
  13. Like america, Mexico is a very diverse country. Tijuana is in no way reflective of the nation. They have ancient pyramids, beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, Mexico City is a major Urban center. many Americans have moved there the cost of living is much lower.
  14. A liar or crazy . Not even the Star Trek communicator is as sophisticated as a cheap cell phone. They were truly advanced civilization, and that technology has been lost to antiquity This is a 50 inch television: Over the last 40 years I’ve thrown away several televisions and computer monitors all of them in perfect working order. In the mid 90s I got a $3000 computer monitor at work. It was the state of the art at the time. I eventually took the monitor home and used it for many years when the flat screens came around and dropped dramatically in price. I got a couple of those and replaced my humongous 19 inch monitor. I decided to give it away. No one not even Goodwill would take it, I ended up putting it on the trash. More than 20 years ago, I purchased a 60 inch television it too was state of the art The largest black screen television on the market. It still works! I still have an iPod that works. I have some tech that is almost 40 years old that still works. I’ve never thrown away a broken cell phone or television. The only time I felt like I had to upgrade was when Apple deliberately screwed up the battery life or when they deliberately refused to upgrade software to keep it backward-compatible with old operating systems Bottom line hardware is great. despite that people still feel compelled to upgrade cell phones every year or two. Replace cars every few years, but the latest or greatest TV. This has nothing to do with accounting or understanding how to handle money. Our society is consumer driven. Everything is aligned to encourage us to consume. That is our problem.
  15. Not all of them. How do you feel about the people who simply chose not to vote? Who is more regarded someone who day out or dinner one who voted for trump?
  16. Dude, I’m not sure why you saying. Subscribe to a black Newspaper and you will find plenty of people concerned about this. again, if your only source of information is the web you are being lied to. And I’m saying that not for someone who visits a wide variety of websites I’m talking about people who treat the web as if it’s only Amazon and a few social media websites which is the majority of us. I would not consider the growing Hispanic population a problem. The problem stems from the handful of individuals behind the supermassive corporations who control the information we consume, and therefore control us. But ask someone to stop using any of those websites and people will look at you like you’re crazy. We willingly submit ourselves to manipulation, at this point large segments of our population are addicted to this. The only remedy that I see is to stop using social media, but view view people are going to do this….
  17. Pushing Forward... We’re navigating a challenging time, but so many things keep us pushing forward. Among them are these words from Frederick Douglass: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress…This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” The struggle for freedom and justice always continues. It does not rest on any one event, whether successful or not. As kidlit creators, educators, librarians, parents, and supporters, let’s continue to use our gifts and talents to positively impact the lives of our young people. Our books make a difference. Our teaching makes a difference. Our example makes a difference. Our guidance, mentorship, the time we spend listening, supporting, pouring into — it’s all valuable and needed. Especially now. Let’s find meaning and purpose with others who know that we MUST continue. And when we need a reminder, may we find encouragement in each other and the young people who deserve our best. 18. A superior TV of the same dimensions would cost about $250 at Walmart today @umbrarchist. This one of the many reasons why economists are saying the economy is "improving." However, people don't feel it because they have already borne the brunt of the credit card debt you've described.
  19. @ProfD I can't find anything to suggest that Hispanic population will be 190M by 2045 or that the total US population will be almost half a billion by 2045, as your table says (using 50M for Blacks).
  20. @ProfD "would have won" but the democrats did not, because the Republican party appealed to more people. Why can't you just accept that? I also believe a white male candidate, with the right policies on the economy, immigration, etc, would have beaten Trump, but that did not take place in a reality.
  21. I get that Del. What I think you are missing is that you are also "trained" on far less information that is available to an AI. Why is it inconceivable that an AI could not come up with the same idea or others that are far superior to yours?
  22. Has anyone said "Y'all are crazy" @Pioneer1 your 61-year-old friend is clearly not interested in a woman. His behavior demonstrates that. His talk is probably just a defense mechanism to explain his lack of having a woman. Which society still frowns upon. And y'all definitely have different taste in women than I do. LOL!
  23. Where in Mexico are you?
  24. OK so you clearly see that an AI can consumer all "the Books about Astrology Tarot Numerology, Clocks, Time, Hebrew and Greek Alphabet, and Numbers" you consumed and orders of magnitude more --without forgetting anything. The only step you won't ascribe to AI is "intuition." But what is intuition Del? Is it anything more that the firing of neurons inside your skull? Why can something indistinguishable, or even beyond our comprehension, be done in silicon? What did you think about the famous Alpha Go example I provided? What would you call that unexpected move "creativity," "intuition," "genius," or something else?
  25. So you are manipulating the data to make a point? The reason I asked for a source is because I knew the Black population figure was wrong -- just off the top of my head -- which made the entire table suspect too. I just wanted to see where you got the table from. I suspected the source had an agenda, a narrative they wanted to project that ran counter to reality.
