  1. Sad case. As the article indicates it’s rare for paramedics to be found criminally. Liable . Their actions must’ve been particularly egregious for this to happen. The family was also awarded $15 million. So overall they got some kind of justice.
  2. Right, people pay for an education and which professionals provide that education? Obviously those are the people generating the revenue. The motivation for paying for the education is not relevant.
  3. Man, that is something @aka Contrarian!
  4. Dude people like us make Mike rich. How many times have you paid pay-per-view 50 bucks or more to watch Mike Tyson fight on TV. Look at all the people who pack arenas to watch Mike knock somebody out in a couple of minutes. The same as true for football basketball whatever. We will pay $100 for a T-shirt with their teams logo on it. People pay a couple hundred dollars to sit in a shitty seat to watch men play children’s games. Sure, there are endorsement deals, and advertising sales but again if we did not go to the games and watch them on TV, there would be no ads to sell. And I submit to you that Mike Tyson given all the money he’s earned over the years should be wealthy. Why do people pay to go to college?
  5. Aw man you doing a "@Pioneer1" on me and shifting the goal post LOL! You wrote professors "do not generate money for the institution." Now you are talking about relative amount of money they make for their relative employers. But your example illustrates my point: We can pay a guy a billion dollars to play a game, while teachers, many in the college ranks, struggle to make a living. Again, we value the athlete (i.e. entertainer) more than the intellect -- especially when it comes to Black folks. Wealthy/rich you are mincing words. I'd take Mike's money, over mine, any day of the week
  6. Was your brother or any of his family in attendance?
  7. You ever put kids through school? We can compare the performance of our schools against other countries, or look at the performance of the schools in our low-income neighborhoods Yes, of course, but that is a low bar. Think that one through a bit more my Brother Yes, Like Iron Mike.
  8. There is shortage of good teachers. Of course they do ever hear of Harvard? It is about as automatic as it gets man. Agreed, because intellect is not values as much as brawn -- particularly when it comes to Black men.
  9. Again, if they could box like Mike and the willingness to train, a millions a dollars+ would be automatic. Look we pay football players 3/4 of a billion dollars while teachers, in the south struggle to make decent wage. @Pioneer1 Again it is easy to find unflattering stuff especially about Black people. If I spent time looking for examples of Mike Sounding of at least average intelligence. As @ProfD says and Tyson admits drugs is was a factor in his behavior, he has dealt personal trauma that has resulted in low self-esteem. He was not well educated. He may be a little punch drunk. But none of this means that he is dumb or below average intelligence. I have higher than average intelligence (academic, book), but I regularly do things that are objectively dumb. There are different types of intelligences, so maybe we should talk about the intelligence you are referring too.
  10. Tommy Sotomayor is very popular @Laydee Gaga he is a very provocative and entertaining (to some) commentator. I the vein of Kevin Samuels (RIP) and spoke about Black women and relationships. I'm not sure I'd put much stock into their advice but I can see where people would find them fun to listen to -- opinionated and not afraid to say anything. I disagree, but I can see why you would say that. Neither one of have the data to prove one way or the other...
  11. Sure, but he is just one person. His presence on YouTube gives him much more impact in your eye, but not mine. For example, I'm confident, were it not for social media, Donald Trump would never have been elected president. Collectively we give what is said to Twitter, for example, far too much weight.
  12. Absolutely those cultures could have existed without women. One would think this is obvious. By "built" are you speaking literary -- digging ditches and laying bricks? There is a lot more to building a civilization that that. I hope you are right, but there is a big difference this time -- Trump have some experience now. Whoa, whoa... lets now go off the deep end LOL!
  13. I don't think any of us are in a position to determine if Mike is mentally compromised. We only know what we see in the media, which is always a distortion, if not outright deliberate manipulation. If I had to guess, I'd say Mike is within a standard deviation of average intelligence. I think biting off a man ear reflects some psychological issues, but I'm not in a position to make a diagnosis. Mike's celebrity and great fighting skill is responsible for his financial success, as these things are highly valued in our culture -- much more than above average intelligence.
  14. Yes, it is. True.
  15. Yeah, most of the time when I post I’m laying in bed using text to speech. But I swear as it is writing what I say it’s correct then I hit save and the text has been changed. I’ve caught it a couple of times. It’s like it corrects what I’m writing After the fact it didn’t always do that. I’ll be more careful and proof my posts. It is hard for me to take anything these children say on YouTube seriously. Particularly since the most absurd stuff is elevated and pushed into everyone’s feeds. I’ve published hundreds of videos over the years and it’s always the most scandalous stuff that gets viewed the most and I’m positive it’s because YouTube is pushing it, so people create more this stuff to feed the algorithm and make more money. so know the video themselves don’t bother me. I just wish people would take some of the more serious videos share those and talk about them as much as they do the videos of some silly little white boy talking about how easy black women are to bang.
  16. https://aalbc.com/books/9780385423090 AN AALBC BESTSELLER yes.
  17. Maybe y’all are putting too much on iron Mike. Doesn’t he has people around him, handlers, who I assume will take care of and protect him? Maybe on some level he’s being exploited encouraged to go into the ring again, allowing him to be captured and less than complementary situations. he was not the only one who made a of money maybe the people around him don’t have his best interest at heart who knows…
  18. I just read this article @Stefan posted. It asked the question; “Most white voters, in Washington, D.C., and nationally, often winced and wondered how on earth Marion Barry kept getting re-elected.” as if the white reader could not understand how Black people could keep voting for Marian Barry. I wonder if the writer would write a similar article explaining to black readers why white folks keep voting for Trump. Trump has more much more personal baggage and keeps getting elected to the highest office in the land. I was not there but I’m sure Jordan who did not do anything that warranted a death sentence. Sad.
  19. I would argue that the military is -- it always is. Look once we nuked Japan (twice) we served notice on the rest of the planet who was in charge and that is when we because a "super Power" or as you say the greatest place to live on earth. We maintain this position by building the largest military force ever.
  20. Why do you watch stuff like this man? But more importantly, why do you use this material, as the Brother in the video does, to make generalizations about the wider community. That is absurd on its face. Do you think Melody Hobson is a sex worker?
  21. You are moving the goal posts again. I was reacting to the statements like "Men built the world in which we live. They run it too. Point blank." Still, we spoke about, The Dahomey an all-female military regiment of modern-day Benin depicted in that movie... I don't recall the name. I'm sure you also know about Zenobia who conquered Egypt, parts of Asia Minor, and the Levant. I was just in NOLA and there is a statue of Joan of Arc a teenager wyou led an army
  22. Well today it is perfectly acceptable for couple to go to a strip club... @frankster, did your cross-dressing friend ever come out the closet?
  23. If that is one of your standards for greatest country on Earth well... You are right about that; it looks like Earth will survive long after we are gone!
  24. The New York Times selected 100 books as the “Best Books of the 21st Century.” I pulled out the books (22) written by Black people. Years ago, I created a list of the top 100 Black books of the 20th Century. It was a list voted on by almost 4,000 people.
  25. That is an alarming, but unsurprising stat! I also believe it is the result of part of a deliberate strategy. I almost fell prey to this it back in 2016, bur @aka Contrarian talked some sense into me.
