That's the title for a documentary on the Black Books Ecosystem (BBE.) The concept is get a bookmobile, fill it with books and drive around the country interviewing authors, publishers, distributors, readers and bookstore owners about the Black books ecosystem. We would document the history, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the BBE. It could be a webseries funded by the participants themselves. The title iSankore is a reference to the University of Sankore at Timbuktu. The route followed by the Bookmobile would be a modern day version of the African Ink Road which ran from north of Timbuktu to south of Kaduna in present day Nigeria. Using the "i" connects to the internet, but also references individual, inform, instruct and inspire. All of which are related to the BBE. It uses the internet to connect individuals to instructive information that inspires.

This really is a good idea. Actually this is the kind of thing that I do on my own. How would this be funded?
  4. Damn Candace! My feelings are hurt! You dare say that if any of us want to go back to Africa, you'd buy us a ticket? How freak'n dare you disrespect us and the Motherland where the gold, soil, diamonds and other rich resources were STOLEN and used to pave the way for what this ENTIRE WORLD is today! And that's not even including the strength, physique and beauty that we behold that has been and continues to be copied, stolen and promoted as 'beauty' just because 'they' say so. Get WOKE Candace! Go back to Africa as if Africa has nothing to offer? As if my people in Africa have nothing to offer? As if black people in America should be grateful to be here? Well, yes, as an African-American I am grateful for the unconditional love and sacrifice that my ancestors gave so that I could be here - even if not by choice. How freakin dare you sound as if somehow 'they' saved us! Read your history, sista! Candace, even with those thieves continuing to claim the land, Africa and Africans remains strong, forgiving, loving, and powerful just like us, here in America - The Land of the Free??! Do you even know what freedom REALLY feels like, Candace? I don't. And I promise, you don't either. Get WOKE Candace! My feelings are so hurt by your audacity, but I won't turn my back on you, sista.
  5. Are you signing up to do it. I'll be at your disposal to answer any questions you might have. When we had the conversation back in March, booksellers were facing an existential threat -- indeed some still are. But, shortly after the public execution of George Floyd things changed abruptly. Large numbers of people, most white, begin to buying "anti-racist" books. These people actively supported Black-owned bookstores. Not only were some bookstores thrown a life line, many experienced record levels of sales! This surge on business exposed some problems. Many booksellers could not scale to mean demand. Companies like Amazon and, most aggressively Bookshop.org, swooped in a took business that really was intended for Black booksellers. Many platforms from the American Booksellers Association to Orpah Magazine (online) helped play up Bookshop while marginalizing or outright ignoring Black booksellers. I'm in the process of trying to create a coalition of booksellers committed to working together and sharing best practices. This will be hard because I'm resources constrained as are many booksellers. Seven months have already passed and we have not reconvened...
  6. The woman is cute, smart, and feminine....but she's CONFUSED as hell. I'm focused less on what she's saying and more on that tiara or whatever that is on her head and the way her hair is parted down the middle. I'm not sure what "look" she's trying to convay. But looks like she's auditioning to be part of some Amish community. Having said all of that....... Yeah, I'd STILL wife her up. She's definitely wife material. I'd just make sure she stays in the house....stays AWAY from Troy....and I'm starting to like that white thing she's got on her head! Maybe I'll have her wear it while cooking the food, cleaning the home, and keeping the children....lol.
  7. Troy Why can't the people running these debates simply cut the speakers mics? For the same reasons the so-called "debaters" kept breaking the rules and not even pretending to answer the questions...... Like you said, these are NOT debates. They are merely forms of entertainment and distraction to make you BELIEVE that you really have some say so over who get's selected elected for the office. If you noticed, neither of them actually answered the questions the moderator posed to them. They always took up their allotted time to either go backwards and argue some stupid point or allegation from their adversary that they disagreed with OR totally ignored the question and went on to rambling about some crap that was totally unrelated. I have a pretty good memory both short term and long term however both of them did so much filibustering that on occasion I actually forgot question the moderator asked! I WILL say that I liked Kamala's "sister girl" confrontational attitude toward Pence. You don't see a lot of women of color confronting Caucasian men on television like that so it was refreshing. But outside of that, the only high point was that fly that landed on Pence's head.....lol.
  8. I must say I am too busy running after my four children and practicing self restraint not to yell, so much so that I have nothing left to spend on bad news. I watch the news to see the weather so I can take those four little Akuabas to the park, or not. bad news depresses me. I know so I don't go looking to hear it.
