  1. Politically speaking, most oppressed minority groups in America vote Democratic against white, right wing, Christian, racist, homophobe Republicans. These groups are blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Jews, and LGBTQ. But, beyond the fact that they vote for the same party does not dismiss the tribalism that is strong among them. There are a lot of blacks that don't like Mexicans and vice versa. Someday, when the Anglo white population dwindles down to a bare minority (even though they will still have the economic power), then that is when you are really going to see the tensions between rise between non-Hispanic blacks and Hispanics. Personally, in their heart of hearts, I think Hispanics really would like to be considered white and technically they are (despite the fact that most Latino nationalities are mestizos). Maybe not white in the same sense as an Irishman, German, Englishman, or Norwegian; but, more like a southern Italian, southern Spaniard, or an Arab since most of them share a similar brown complexion. My Grandad always said that when a Mexican gets a nickel, he thinks he is white. This is actually a colonial Latin American concept. During the that era, it was not uncommon for some well-to-do Spaniards to provide their mestizo and mulatto offspring education, land, money, and status. Thus, they frequently classified them as white. This also explains the reason why Dominicans and Haitians don't get along. Dominican mulattoes think they are white compared to full black Haitians. There are also tensions between Asians and blacks, particularly with Koreans. In LA, back in 1992, a 15 old black girl was shot in the head by a Korean shop owner. This incident took a back seat to the Rodney King police beating. I hear that Koreans are some of the most racist Asians. At the time of the riots, Korean shop owners were targeted. At one time, there used to be a strong alliance between African Americans and Jews. Jews were some of the biggest supporters of the civil rights movement. But, when Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan made anti-Semitic back in the '80s, relations between blacks and Jews have suffered since. In all fairness, Jesse Jackson apologized for the offensive remarks he made. In more recent times, Rep. Ilhan Omar from Minnesota has made anti-Semitic remarks regarding Israel. And none of the groups that were mentioned above like gays. There are many black Christians, Hispanic Catholics, Muslims, and Orthodox Jews that are just as opposed to homosexuality as white Protestant Evangelicals. So, just because different groups of people vote Democrat does not mean that they like each other. Right now, they are too busy fighting white supremacy, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and homophobia. But, after 2045, when the minorities will collectively become the majority, these rifts will come to the surface.
  2. I thought POTUS Papa Joe Biden (PJB) did very well in his 1st State of the Union (SOTU) address. He was clear in his message. I hope that POTUS PJB will be able to accomplish a few more things beneficial to the country before the midterm elections especially if the Democrats lose the House. More importantly, I would like to see elected leaders on both sides of the aisle working in the best interests of America instead of catering to their paymasters, er, special interests. 😎
  3. Joe Biden really ticked off Republicans in his first State of the Union Speech. He stressed Equality, Fairness, healthcare and wants to push to cure all cancers and lower prescription medicines. He is not interested in giving free crack pipes to anyone. This is the delusion of Trump lovers. Unlike Trump, Biden can actually boast of his job creation record. Trump cannot. Because Trump left the Oval Office with less people working than when he first arrived. Under President Biden, Covid-19 is in full retreat. Because Biden’s administration took to this dangerous virus seriously. Republicans and those who worship Trump opposed vaccines and mask mandates and had no problem getting ultra-violent over it. I am certain in coming days the GOP will whine and complain of CRT destroying the country, how true equality is wrong headed and that corporations should be free to avoid paying taxes. And street crime? Most of it is gun related and caused by mentally ill people. Biden is not a nutty Progressive. He's in favor of full funding of police. And it's the Democrats who want to curtail the sale and ownership of guns. The GOP? Not so much. Biden is not responsible for Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine despite the rants of the addle-brained. That's kind of funny because the White House did not order the Russian military to cross the Ukrainian frontier. And one thing about Biden - he's not weak.
  4. Ketanji Brown Jackson is a very ordinary looking black woman, not a glamourous example of eye candy. Her white husband is a physician, and as such, could have undoubtedly had his pick of white women to marry. The fact that he chose a black woman says a lot about him - and about her. High profile black males have a history of rejecting sistas in favor of white wives. When the tables are turned, they have no grounds for complaining.
  5. @Addison In the Bible, Israelites became slaves to one another, not through kidnapping or a lower societal birth, but because of debt or poverty. According to most Old Testament slave apologists, selling one self into slavery during the time of the Israelites was a way to pay off debt. So, Israelites who owed money, goods or land, might sell themselves into slavery and even their children to pay off a debt. If this is not condoning slavery, I don’t know what is. Because you will never read an absolute condemnation of slavery in the Bible. For many historians, nothing was as bad as Chattel Slavery imposed on African or Freed Blacks in the U.S. This type of Chattel Slavery was full of cruelty, inhumanity and capricious violence. But slaves to Israelites, who were supposed to be treated as hired hands, were not to be badly treated. If an Israelite slave was given a foreign woman as a wife and she birthed children for him, the foreign wife could not be freed, nor her children. That is slavery with no end. This is how the Bible explains this when it came time to free an Israelite slave: “If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children will become her master’s and he will go out by himself.” (Exodus 21: 4). Now, pay attention to that verse. The so-called Master could GIVE the slave a wife. Think the woman or the children had any choice in the matter? And as I mentioned in a previous post, some Israelite slave owners did mistreat their slaves, which is why laws had to be written about this. “If a man strikes the eye of his slave man or the eye of his slave girl and he destroys it, he is to let the slave go free in compensation for his eye. And if he knocks out the tooth of his slave man or of his slave girl, he is to let the slave go free in compensation for his tooth.” (Exodus 21:26, 27) In the Bible, slavery persisted into the days of the Roman Empire because Philemon, a disciple of Jesus, the Nazarene, owned a slave named Onesimus. (Philemon 16) Even in the first century, slaves weren't treated spectacularly well as evidence by Paul's warnings to some folks who were apparently following his teachings. "And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him." (Ephesians 6:8) ”Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, for you know that you also have a Master in heaven.” (Col. 1:4) You can ignore those scriptures all you want. However, those mild criticisms made by Paul are not condemnatory against the institution of slavery of humans, whether they sold themselves into slavery or were captured prisoners. Don’t make the mistake of confusing the term “slave of the Lord” for being an actual slave. Even a casual reader would quickly understand those phrases mean completely different things.
  6. Mental colonialism. I don’t need others to interpret what I see or read. I don’t endorse authoritarianism. You can take your elitist attitude else where.
