  1. Why would I want read a book supposedly written by that liar? He cannot write! He can't even give a decent speech! This thread is supposed to be about Science Fiction. Why do you have such a difficult time understanding clear and definitive English sentences?
  2. The U.S. imports about 2.8% of its oil from Russian, according to a pie chart appearing in The Hill dot com. So, banning the import of Russian oil is not going to hurt the country much. As far as the Keystone XL Pipeline goes, completing it, even though owner TransCanada, bailed on the project, would kill endangered animal species, sully the air and pollute rivers. I'd rather have the clean air and clean rivers and the species. Processing oil sands also leaves humungous deposits of toxic waste. But what the heck? You don't have to live near them, do you? TC Energy, a subsidiary of TransCanada, never installed any Keystone XL pipe in South Dakota, but had agreements to build support infrastructure, according to South Dakota Public Broadcasting. The company owned land for seven pump stations, three of which were nearly complete. It leased land for 10 pipe yards, seven contractor yards and at least two work camps, SDPB said. The Keystone project has been shut down because it lacks permits to continue construction Doing an about face and rushing to finish it now ain't gonna bring pump prices down. Accept it. Don't blame Biden. Blame Russia for invading Ukraine and Trump and many other Republicans for supporting it. Gas prices and Russian oil supplies can't be fixed by more drilling
  3. The previous poster does not provide any proof that he's an investor in Rivian Automotive. He just offered a measly screen capture of past Rivian's stock trade price, which means nothing. Because anyone can do that. Just hop on over to Finance.Yahoo (dot com) and punch in a stock symbol. And you, too, can lie and claim you're a big time investor in an electric truck start-up. But I did something better. I found a news story in Fortune magazine that purports that Rivian, which is actually an investment of Am*zon, made a strategic blunder when it raised prices for its electric vehicles, none of which have yet to be delivered. While some posters on here offer little but B.S., I aim to post the truth. Electric truck start-up Rivian admits marketing mistake
  4. @ProfD That press release is from the Natural Resources Defense Council.
  5. This is EXACTLY how Trump boot lickers feel about Black people! They think we are all dumb. Especially when those among us throw their hand in and sell their souls to the gods of money and a belief they will attain elusive power. Deep down, most Republicans chuckle intently and refer to them with silent smirks as "useful idiots." And as long as there are delusional, Black self-hating Trump toadies such as daniellefgny around, they will always think that. One thing you notice is that U.S. Jews rarely attack each other in savage fashion, no matter their differences on issues. And to a man, woman and even child, when pressed or faced with incessant aggression against their ethnic and religious group, they will always defend their people as well as the State of Israel. That, my friends. is called UNITY. Despite centuries of surviving against vicious racism, repression and discrimination, sadly this is something many Black people still fail to understand.
  6. You failed Reading Comprehension, dude. And you did not offer a statement. Just a racially tinged story from the New York Post, which since Ronald Reagan's candidacy for the White House in 1980, has been a repository of anti-Black venom. Anything that promotes the nonsense of White Supremacy, especially if it's aided and abetted by Black turncoats, is celebrated front and center by the editors of the NY Post.
  7. Black people suffer horribly from air pollution, much of which is tied to refining and use of fossil fuels. Increasing oil and gas use produces acid rain, a warmer atmosphere and respiratory illnesses. In New York City and other urban areas, there are much higher incidents of childhood asthma which are blamed on the construction of waste transfer stations and elected officials having ignored healthcare discrepancies for decades. Do any of you understand how many individuals lose their lives every year due to oil and gas use? Including the burning of coal, it's about one out of five. I am not a tree hugger, but some of you seem more worried about paying a few more dollars every time you gas up than the Black child or grandparent struggling to breathe in polluted air. One out of five people killed by fossil fuel air pollution
  8. People are just going to have to pay more. No country can continue using up its reserves of oil. If both parties had been forward thinking they would have endorsed alternative energy sources. Fossil fuels will not last forever and there is now ample evidence that their continued use contributes greatly to air, ground and water pollution. Geopolitics is not always a dirty business. President Jimmy Carter made super use of global politics and diplomacy by ending a 30-year state of war between Israel and Egypt through his Camp David Accords. Carter was masterful and kept Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin interested, talking and got them to reach agreement after 12 days of secret talks at Camp David in Maryland.
  9. A new WSJ poll finds that 79% of people in the United States support Joe Biden's ban on imports of Russian oil. And they feel this way, according to the poll, even if gas prices rise. This ought to kick the Biden haters square in their pants. President Biden on Tuesday halted the purchase of Russian crude oil, certain petroleum products, liquefied natural gas and coal, according to the March 8 edition of the Wall Street Edition. The WSJ certainly carries more weight with the world and the U.S. corporate and business communities than the hysterical ramblings of Trump supporters. The new Journal poll showed broad support for the energy ban across political breakdowns. The ban had support from 77% of Republicans and 72% of voters who said they would support former President Trump if he ran again in 2024. Among Democrats, 88% said they favored the moratorium on Russian oil imports, including 94% of Democratic men, the WSJ said. Guess the losers who care only about themselves, and not innocent and dying people, are on the wrong side of history. Wanna read the whole WSJ story? Click on the photo after clicking on this link. Americans back a ban on Russian oil imports
  10. @richardmurray The poster who called himself Nels created a thread on Blacks in Hollywood and the movie industry. That is where your general questions about Cinema should have been posted. You cannot post general thought Blogs. You must be specific at least when engaging people who do research. This thread is quite specific. Email your blogs to an online publication and gauge their editors' view of your work. You have to be specific or have a topic that is narrowed down. Or sign up for any kind of news Website that allows short commentary. And you will discover I am right. Or if you really desire true and honest reaction to your writing, search the Internet for discussion groups to your liking. Look at the threads and the writing there-in. Then sign-up. I've been on a multitude of such Websites since 2000. I enjoy beating the crap out of White racists. And I will tell you that bad writing, phony facts and questionable sources generate blowback. The same is true of constant put downs, especially if nothing new is being presented. Because someone will always demand that you provide prove for your assertions. You also don't like using commonly stated labels. Dude, self correct immediately because you're lying. In your response, you employed the term "Blackwood." I thought you were referring to a town. But you are apparently referencing Black film makers. Here are four terms about the movie making industry you need to accept and to USE: Hollywood (U.S. Cinema) Bollywood (Indian Cinema) Nollywood (Nigerian Cinema) What you meant to use is Black Cinema. Because Black movie making takes place all over the U.S. and in the Caribbean.
  11. It's okay. People on this planet tend to really dislike each other these days. You may be an optimist and want peace, but look how many are arrayed against you. When Mexicans first began crossing the border illegally to settle in southern California decades ago, all was cool until their numbers grew so large, they actually began to threaten long time White and Black residents. First physically, through sheer numbers, street gangs and strict adherence to a loose code based on "La Raza" (The Race). Then politically as they began to vote in greater numbers. Now, financially. This did not affect wealthy Whites too much. They simply moved into the valleys or further north. But it eventually cost Blacks in Los Angeles their political power. One thing I have long noticed about Immigrants of Color: When they get a chance for upward mobility, many will often adopt the worst psychological attributes and characteristics of White Racists. This affords them a faster way to assimilate and vaults them immediately into the ranks of "favored minorities." The only way this works for non-celebrity or non-rich Blacks is when they continuously and loudly malign, insult or denigrate their own people. Then they become darlings of The Right.
  12. You did not derail. And I appreciate your RESPECT. Love ya!
  13. @richardmurray Your question has already been answered by events in past history and events unfolding today. There will never be any true peace, just an uneasy pretension of folks getting along with each other. The nature of Earth Humanity is to dominate and control. Not to help others. Especially when the targets have a different skin hue, religion, language or possess something that others want. This is not true in every instance. But when reviewing true and verifiable events in global human history, this truth cannot be denied.
  14. It actually was. Kamala Harris comes in for criticism over White husband Try fact checking before banging away on your keyboard.
  15. Here's a different view from a political publication that has writers who are actually logical. Republican Black candidates are not worth cheering about Republicans have never moved away from their anti-Black agenda in states, counties and districts which are receptive to their "Blacks ain't poop" message. Need more proof? Here's a February 2022 feature story about one how Texas county may elect its first Black congressman since 1892. And Texas Republicans ain't happy about it. The guy is a Democrat. https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/brazoria-county-may-elect-first-black-congressman-since-19th-century/
  16. "Blerds are a large community, too." Wow. This is amazing. I wonder if he knows that Walmart Stores Inc. is a big Big Box store retailer. The only problem is that this guy does not speak for all Black people and certainly not for the group of souls who consider themselves adherents of AfroFuturism. He claims AfroFuturism rejects the current version of Sci Fi. As if he's some scholarly intellectual with deep connections to this school of thought and philosophy. He's not and knows very little about anything other his tortured belief that Donald Trump is God. How Black Girl Nerds see Science Fiction But there are many, many, MANY Black individuals who can actually define what they believe AfroFuturism is. Blerds describe what AfroFuturism actually is Unlike others on here, I don't guess or make up stuff. I do the research and offer then proof: https://blacksci-fi.com/tag/afrofuturism/ Here is what the operators of Black Science Fiction dot com include in their Black Sci-Fi universe. Look at the bottom box and glimpse all the different topics include in this. https://blacksci-fi.com/10-black-science-fiction-fantasy-works-that-need-a-netflix-adaptation/ Now, let's actually read what one scholarly individual thinks about AfroFuturism, shall we? "What is Afrofuturism? It’s the story of musicians, artists, writers, philosophers, fashion icons, filmmakers, costume and set designers, actors, activists and academics who have believed in a better future for Black people — and for all people," according to Delan Bruce, an associate editor at the University of California. "Afrofuturism, more concretely, can be understood as a wide-ranging social, political and artistic movement that dares to imagine a world where African-descended peoples and their cultures play a central role in the creation of that world, Bruce further explained." You see, just as it is with the definition of Science Fiction, the explanation for AfroFuturism is all over the place and changes every month. Thus, anyone who claims they can define it is talking out of the side of their backside.
  17. @richardmurray I only wanted to discuss favorite Sci-Fi movies. You seem to want to expand this thread into a discussion on the general state of the Black film industry. But I believe there are too many moving parts to that to have an effective back and forth. I am also unconcerned about the state of the Black, White, Latino and Asian film industries. I am only interested in folks' favorite Sci Fi movies. But there does not seem to be much interest in Sci Fi movies in this forum. It appears most want to ignore real life and death issues for Black people in favor of lying on Joe Biden and Democrats, bashing the majority of Blacks and then making excuses for the immaturity of Trump.
  18. @richardmurray My man! Splendid reasoning! I actually don't hanker after money. I just want a happy, long life and be able help out where I can.
  19. @richardmurray I doubt there will be any powerful or effective ethnic coalitions. People of Color tend to NOT like each other because the ego driven cliques of each group generally pursue the same two objectives that Whites do: Wealth and Power. These ones care little about anything else. If you take a gander at the thread starters of such ones on here, how many are related to gaining wealth? But fail to include precious details on how this can be achieved. Just empty claims that so many are doing this or doing that to get rich, minus verifiable confirmation. I learned decades ago to ignore: (1) Those who continually offer rosy claims, (but in abysmal writing), that's absent of any confirmable proof (2) Folks who lie outright, or do so through ignorance, because they expect everyone to swallow their B.S. (3) Have little or no sympathy for those they look down upon - even though they themselves are not rich or famous (4) Repeat the same get rich canard every week or create new threads harking back to the repetitive dubious nonsense (5) Think following the philosophy of White Supremacy will somehow or some way, make them wealthy.
  20. @richardmurray If you are addressing me, then you are welcome. We need to have fun. Until I got much older, it was rare that I saw a Black actor or Black character on the screen as a integral component of a Sci Fi film. Forget about producing. That takes multi-millions and at times, pure groveling. And directing? Only in the latter part of the 80's did this occur. Black people simply did not run film studios and lacked the access to financing to produce motion pictures. So, I don't understand anyone actually expecting wholly Black-made, Black-financed and Black-distributed motion pictures. We do not yet have this kind of clout. Would I like to see this? I don't care about that. In the movie business, one must have allies. Now, thanks to the Internet, a movie producer can reach an audience of millions faster. But is their product going to be available in all languages, be approved by overseas governments or authorities or attacked as too narrow minded? I just want to view an entertaining science fiction film. Of course, it's great if the film has Black men, Black women or Black children in a starring role. I'd love that. But it's not a deal killer for me. There are hundreds of Black movies released every year through various genres in Africa. I don't know how many are Sci Fi. But I've seen some incredible Black African police series on Netflix where a viewer would quickly warm up to the central characters. And Netflix really wants to showcase Black Sci Fi talent. https://blacksci-fi.com/10-black-science-fiction-fantasy-works-that-need-a-netflix-adaptation/
  21. @ProfDNo one disputes this. But this is not what the thread purports.
  22. C'mon, let's have some more Sci Fi faves! We can't all be traumatized by the brutality of the Ukraine invasion or the goofy demands to leap blindly into the heaving bitcoin sea.
  23. You are absolutely wrong. The reason why Chattel Slavery is considered one of the most evil incarnations of involuntary servitude is due to its severity. Thus far, the only peoples to have experienced Chattel Slavery have been African Americans. No other race or ethnic group suffered so distinctly, so horribly and for so long as U.S. Blacks. Chattel Slavery is the worst. And because it was so uncommon, it could never be considered a traditional form of slavery. The scriptures I cited, which make allowances for eventual freedom for Israelite slaves in addition to liberation for grievous injuries to them, are proof of my contention. Because during Chattel Slavery, there were no provisions made for such compassion.
  24. anonymous50, Pray tell, what is "slavery in the traditional sense?" Explain. Because I have PROVEN to you that the Bible did condone slavery by citing several scriptures. The Bible never condemned slavery, but simply offered laws to regulate or govern it. I am well are of how, centuries later, so-called Christians used the scriptures to justify the enslavement of what they regarded as inferior peoples. But that is NOT what this thread is about, is it? Nor is it about the progeny of Noah. The thread you created seeks to prove that the Bible does not condone slavery. I disagree. Because no scripture explicitly condemns slavery. But there are umpteen others which govern the practice of slavery.
  25. I am hoping U.S. Appeals Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is confirmed with the minimum of rancor. She is eminently qualified.
