  1. I thought you said Black people would miss him. Sure. Like a fart in church. Dude, I'm not lopsided. My agenda is the survival of Black People though intelligent and supportive thought and achievements. Not decadent obeisance to a wanna-be White Supremacist overlord who views us as beneath him.
  2. But West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin said he would vote to confirm Judge Jackson. So the heck with what biased White Conservatives think about a talented and incredibly qualified Black woman federal judge. Her critics in the GOP had the nerve to criticize her by linking her to Critical Race Theory when so few individuals in this entire country cannot even explain what it is. CRT is a theory and is an advanced elective university law school class.
  3. @ProfD You hit the nail right on top of its head. The continuing disgusting disrespect by Nels of Black men and women who have accomplished much makes me wonder anew if this poster is a non-Black entity and a racist planted here to sow discord. Because he appears full of venom for those with dark skin.
  4. Except to offer the world a new definition of "turncoat." Justice Thomas cast the only "no" vote in a 8-1 High Court ruling that permitted the release of a Trump Jan. 6th document that revealed the former POTUS had made plans to order the U.S. military to seize voting machines. The Justice should have recused himself knowing that his wife had been trying to get Mark Meadows to continue his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. Sleaze, thy name is Clarence Thomas.
  5. Leftists are NOT in favor of murdering Ukrainian civilians and destroying a democratic nation. And your hero Trump adores Putin, the Russian dictator. He called Putin smart and Trump supports the brutal invasion of Ukraine.
  6. You're kind of late to the party, dude. You're going to write a letter to your Congress people in support of Justice Jackson? And not in favor of reinstating Trump? You mean, your U.S. Senators. Because it's the upper house that confirms Supreme Court Justices.
  7. Bitcoin, NFT's, Meta or better verse. LOL Most folks whom I know peer at this digital financial world and see something suspicious and risky. A few folks swear by it. But of course, they haven't made their fortunes yet. Until it shakes it out, with the originators and the most talented crooks climbing to the top, it's just another messy gift to the greedy, the unconscionable and thieves who can hide anywhere. Even next door. "For the love of money is the root of all evil, which some coveted eagerly, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows," Paul wrote at 1st Timothy 6:10. The latest on the get rich frenzy, which includes two additional links related to digital thievery: Two men charged NFT fraud scheme
  8. And now it's come out that Justice Thomas' wife, Ginny, repeatedly texted Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to continue the fight to overturn the 2020 election. This was weeks after the election was over and Biden had been declared the winner. Ginny Thomas had apparently texted Meadows 29 times urging him to the continue to fight the election results. Ginny Thomas also said she had attended the Jan. 6th Capitol riot. Clarence Thomas' wife Ginny, urged overturning 2020 election results
  9. Well, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he will vote against confirming Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson for the Supreme Court. No surprise there.
  10. Russia wants and needs allies around the world. And some leaders of Black African countries seemed to be easily co-opted by Moscow and Beijing. I cannot entirely blame them. Most U.S. presidents and the U.S. Congress have given Black Africa the cold shoulder for decades. Much of the promised Covid-19 vaccines were never delivered. Economic and financial aid from the U.S. to the continent has always been a trickle. Trump always referred to Black African nations as "sh!thole countries." As far as countries refusing to condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine outright, these nations and their people still have to exist after this war is over. And trying to exist may not be easy because of this war: Ukraine war imperils Africa and Middle East grain imports
  11. Yes, the Bible sanctioned Slavery. Period. Even Jewish scholars acknowledge this. This is a long read, but since few on this forum actually read and understand Yiddish and Hebrew and not considered scriptural scholars, I believe this will suffice: Jewish scholars say the Bible does condone Slavery
  12. The economy is doing well for the sought-after and well paid employable. But not doing so well for the marginally employed and those making below a living wage. I do not think this will last. Biden has tossed, by even conservative estimates, about a billion dollars at Ukraine. Money, like the trillions wasted in Afghanistan, that could have been used for job programs, expanding education, health services and of course, rebuilding this country's crumbling bridges, highways and tunnels. People who hate Democrats and Joe Biden are not going to let this go and will continue pushing their negative nonsense until the perception that things have improved economically dims.
  13. The reason why so many don't hear much about Covid-19 is because they don't assiduously peruse the news as others do. But Covid-19 had not gone away. What has largely dispersed is the worry. But unvaccinated folks, especially older ones, are still dying in high numbers because of new variants. For example, the newest Covid-19 variant, called Omicron BA.2, has hit China hard. https://time.com/6157720/china-stealth-omicron-covid-outbreak/ It really depends on what news program one watches or what news websites one reads. But Covid-19 is still around and still mutating. March 18 - New Covid variant killing many in Hong Kong
  14. I don't subscribe to this cable channel, but I think this is wonderful. Actor, director and comedian Tyler Perry played Starfleet flag officer Admiral Richard Bennett in 2009's "Star Trek, The Voyage Home." Bennett was head of the Starfleet Academy Board in the year 2258.
  15. Which is what I've been saying since the beginning of this Ukraine-Russia conflict. All these price increases at the pump are nothing more than the result of pure and unadulterated greed. The angst of the selfish, the misinformed and the angry is silly. No amount of drilling, release of strategic oil stockpiles and belief that completing the Keystone Pipeline project will reduce gasoline or diesel prices at the pump. My concern is not for the selfish or the greedy in the U.S. My sympathy is for WBNA star Brittany Griner whose detention in Russia has been extended until at least May 19. My worry is for Black African and other foreign university students who could not escape Ukraine in a timely fashion. I wonder and hope if all of them are safe. And my compassion will be for the people of Africa when Ukrainian grain exports to the continent are slashed under Russia's continuous bombing and artillery shells. And BTW, do not throw away your facemasks. I knew the Covid-19 mandates were ended too early. The latest Covid-19 mutation, the BA.2 Omicron subvariant, is reportedly even more transmissible than other variants. And it's clobbering China and Hong Kong as you read this.
  16. Why Blacks chose Ukraine as their home If you ever read words from the interviews of Black Africans who were attending universities in Ukraine, you will understand why they went to this country. The BBC reported that Ukraine was home to over 76,000 foreign students. This was according to Ukraine government data from 2020. Nearly a quarter of the students were from Africa, with the largest numbers coming from Nigeria, Morocco and Egypt. India easily accounts for the highest portion with over 20,000 students, the BBC said. But Ukraine's education ministry revealed that there were more than 16,000 African students in the country, according to Reuters. The students - studying medicine, engineering and business - are an important part of the country's (Ukraine's) economy, according to the BBC. So, in seemed the presence of foreign students in Ukraine was symbiotic. Many Black African students lived in Kyiv, the capital and explained that incidents of racism were rare. They also said the schools were cheaper in Ukraine than elsewhere. However, a military invasion of a country turns people fearful, desperate and incredibly selfish. That's no excuse, but those are also facts.
  17. @ProfD I never used those words. I said we are already at the point where our beautiful skin color fails to bind us. Then I offered examples. No matter how many enemies and obstacles are in our path. No matter how many tragedies befall us. And no matter how many turncoats betray us, Earth's Black Race will always survive.
  18. One thing about me, dude. I am NOT deranged. I do not lick Trump's butt.
  19. @ProfD We are already splintered to that point where our beautiful skin color fails to bind us. How many Black people increasingly turn on their own, seemingly to curry favor with Whites? Such as Candace Owens using Russia's invasion of Ukraine to attack Black Lives Matter and actually believing people in this country want her on the Supreme Court. Look what just happened to Ryan Coogler, the director of the blockbuster "Black Panther" movie? Read what an Op-Ed writer at The Grio wrote about Coogler's arrest: TheGrio's take on Ryan Coogler's arrest
  20. It is really impossible to crack that guy's obsession with licking Trump's butt. He refuses to accept that Trump ballooned U.S. national debt by $7.8 trillion, wanted to pull the U.S. out of NATO and that Trump's $1.2 trillion dollar tax cut benefited mainly the wealthy. Trump never cared about those who actually worked for a living, just the rich and those who are White. The national debt skyrocketed has risen by almost $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office, according to the non-profit news organization ProPublica. That’s nearly twice as much as what Americans owe on student loans, car loans, credit cards and every other type of debt other than mortgages, combined, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, ProPublica said. And this amounts to about $23,500 in new federal debt for every person in the United States, the non-profit news organization said. Biden's spending halted the growing scourge of Covid-19 and his Stimulus Spending packages helped all Americans, not just a few. And this is probably what irks Daniellefghy the most. Biden aimed to uplift everyone and people such as Daniellefgny likely despise such high minded notions. Only people such as he deserve to be on top. Everyone else be damned. Confederate Dan's embrace of Trump and White Supremacy includes a willful and undeniable march to obliterating a decent environment by polluting the air, water and land with runoffs from noxious tar sands oil exploration. But as someone noted, people in the U.S. are not taking to the streets with torches and pitchforks over higher gasoline and diesel fuel prices. Only the greedy and those who cannot stand to be inconvenienced groused about wearing facemasks during the worst of the Pandemic. Just as those who are unconscionable are uncaring are the ones whining about paying more at the gas pumps.
  21. @richardmurray The Black Community has many, many problems. But few workable solutions. A change in mindset is absolutely necessary as is a return to a belief that we need to help each other. Not attack each other or believe slavish devotion to questionable and faulty tactics, paths and pursuits will get us somewhere.
  22. Why would I want read a book supposedly written by that liar? He cannot write! He can't even give a decent speech! This thread is supposed to be about Science Fiction. Why do you have such a difficult time understanding clear and definitive English sentences?
  23. The U.S. imports about 2.8% of its oil from Russian, according to a pie chart appearing in The Hill dot com. So, banning the import of Russian oil is not going to hurt the country much. As far as the Keystone XL Pipeline goes, completing it, even though owner TransCanada, bailed on the project, would kill endangered animal species, sully the air and pollute rivers. I'd rather have the clean air and clean rivers and the species. Processing oil sands also leaves humungous deposits of toxic waste. But what the heck? You don't have to live near them, do you? TC Energy, a subsidiary of TransCanada, never installed any Keystone XL pipe in South Dakota, but had agreements to build support infrastructure, according to South Dakota Public Broadcasting. The company owned land for seven pump stations, three of which were nearly complete. It leased land for 10 pipe yards, seven contractor yards and at least two work camps, SDPB said. The Keystone project has been shut down because it lacks permits to continue construction Doing an about face and rushing to finish it now ain't gonna bring pump prices down. Accept it. Don't blame Biden. Blame Russia for invading Ukraine and Trump and many other Republicans for supporting it. Gas prices and Russian oil supplies can't be fixed by more drilling
  24. The previous poster does not provide any proof that he's an investor in Rivian Automotive. He just offered a measly screen capture of past Rivian's stock trade price, which means nothing. Because anyone can do that. Just hop on over to Finance.Yahoo (dot com) and punch in a stock symbol. And you, too, can lie and claim you're a big time investor in an electric truck start-up. But I did something better. I found a news story in Fortune magazine that purports that Rivian, which is actually an investment of Am*zon, made a strategic blunder when it raised prices for its electric vehicles, none of which have yet to be delivered. While some posters on here offer little but B.S., I aim to post the truth. Electric truck start-up Rivian admits marketing mistake
