Big money pulls the strings on the whole political system. Very few politicians are exempt.

Many of us have always believed neither political party has served Black folks well. Abraham Lincoln didn't free slaves because he cared about Black folks. The racist LBJ signed the Civil Rights Bill but he didn't give a d8mn about Black folks. Both political parties only do that which is politically expedient when it comes to Black people. The primary objective of both political parties is maintaining the system of racism white supremacy. The warped aspect of it is that both political parties can get Black folks to serve as wardens, officers and trustees in the prison. Black folks need to break from the status quo and form their own political party.

The Obamas gave excellent speeches in support of nominee VP Kamala Harris in her bid for POTUS. I believe former POTUS Bill Clinton will be the keynote speaker tonight.

The DNC didn't steal the nomination from POTUS PJB. They saw him struggling in the ring after his debate performance and a few missteps. They correctly pulled him out of battle and promoted a stronger alternative. The DNC crowd is highly energized in standing behind POTUS PJB as he continues to do the job and passes the torch to VP Kamala Harris as Democratic nominee. IMO, the DNC redeemed themselves very well compared to where they were a month ago.

@aka Contrarian, figured you relatively close to the action. Far enough away to not be impacted by traffic and tourists and protesters. Very cool that your daughter will be in the mix at the United Center. Hopefully, she can catch some tea to spill. After speaking past midnight, POTUS PJB hopped on a plane and landed in Cali early this morning for a vacation. The Obamas will be among the speakers scheduled tonight. Of course, I'll be tuned in to hear them sell the program.

If the Biden administration had established the police accountability commission as mentioned when they were campaigning in 2020, that devil may not have been in a police uniform.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) is being held in Chicago this week. The DNC will officially nominate VP Kamala Harris to run for POTUS. POTUS Joe Biden will pass the torch. Plenty folks will speak to support the nominee. The DNC starts with Pro-Palestinian protests outside the United Center. They are demanding a cease-fire in Gaza. Doubtful anyone will make such an announcement this week. I know our very own @aka Contrarian lives in the great state of Illinois. I'm wondering how far she lives from the windy city. Otherwise, it would be great if we had a boots on the ground correspondent at the DNC reporting whatever we don't get to see and hear on TV.

Happy belated b'day to @aka Contrarian who celebrated yesterday. As I've mentioned several times already and as always remember her, Cynique makes hanging out here a total blast. We don't always agree but I enjoy and appreciate her contribution to the discussions. Thankful to the universe allowing her to see another b'day.

Gotcha. There's enough brilliant Black folks among us to prevent the same mistakes. The question is 1) what will take to motivate Black leadership and 2) are Black folks willing to listen and follow.

Many Black folks 50+ are looking and feeling better in part because they're not working as hard as those who came before them. Also, access to better food and healthcare helps too. That being written, the pendulum can swing wildly. In our 20s and 30s and even 40s, most folks seemed to age at the same rate. However, the other side of 50 is a trip. Some folks still look great and have no medical issues. OTOH, there are others who look aged and/or they're broken down like an old Volkswagen. I've missed every reunion for one reason or another. I'm kinda glad because I really don't want to see how the folks with whom I grew up have aged and whether or not they're still among the living. Thankfully, I was born with decent genetics. I've alway been an old man in younger body. But, glad to still look good and be in great mental and physical health.

Seems like that dude has been in the news ever since he left the White House and before he was Republican nominee. I wouldn't be surprised to find out former POTUS OJ still has a room in the White House.

Facts. Africans are beyond ridiculous when it comes to time. It's nothing for them to start or show up several hours late for some sh8t they planned. If Africans tell you it starts at 3 pm, the people aren't showing up until 6 pm. We need to hear from the b'day lady @aka Contrarian herself. I know it's near if it hasn't happened already.

Sista, with all due respect, it won't do Black folks any good to keep rehashing the when, where and how our people ended up in slavery and oppression. The history is well documented. Violence is the only way the chains of oppression can be broken whether it's physical, mental or financial. It might require all three on some level.

Yep. I don't trust any white folks in law enforcement. They're all suspect race soldiers. I wouldn't put anything past them especially when it comes harming or killing Black folks.

His record wasn't great at all. Failed military service and fired from other police departments for disciplinary actions. Loose cannon. The bar doesn't have to be squeaky clean as evidenced by the number of bad apples who slip through the cracks. In fact, they're not slipping through at all. Police departments would prefer race soldiers to maintain law and order especially when it comes to Black folks. They're not shooting white ladies in the face. No doubt police work can be hazardous. Similar to being in the military. Folks know what they are signing up to do. OTOH, many military members and police officers retire without seeing combat and/or having to fire a single shot.

If smoking weed or using any type of drugs made people more productive, it would be legalized and marketed real heavy especially in a capitalistic country. OTOH, the reason illegal drugs and for a long time weed have been criminalized is because they fuel multiple industries and provide jobs and boost the economy. Big pharmaceutical industry is an example of *legal* drugs making a sh8t ton of money for dealers, er, companies. Capitalism at work sanctioned by the US government under the Food & Drug Administration.

Definitely have to pay and protect leadership. Nobody should be expected to work for free. Being a leader is attractive. Sistas will get at a brotha who stands tall among men. Former POTUS Barack Obama would be consider a square in most circles. Yet, he didn't have a problem landing former FLOTUS Michelle Obama before he rose to prominence.

I'd be slightly curious to know whose bright idea it was to include break-dancing in the Olympics. As Troy mentioned above, same goes for other activities they're trying to classify as sports.

This particular atrocity could have been prevented if that devil hadn't been hired in th 1st place. Plenty red flags in his file.

Right. The 1st step is accepting the fact that there are racist devils in law enforcement. Treat them accordingly.

Law enforcement is an integral part of maintaining the system of racism white supremacy. Of course, every agency of law enforcement is filled with racists and white supremacists. Imagine being a Black agent or police officer and having to ride with or sit across from someone watching your every move and willing to take you out at a moments notice.

White women are an integral part of the dominant society. They're *free* to do whatever they choose without being judged one way or another.
