As I've mentioned before, my idea of reparations isn't just handing out checks. Reparations would be free education, no taxes and investment in programs, banks and other institutions that guarantee AfroAmericans access to resources. 😎

I'm ecstatic that Judge Ketanji Brown is a SCOTUS nominee. I look forward to her being confirmed and taking her seat on the bench. 😎

The term "woke" as a colloloquialism among AfroAmericans meant to be knowledgeable and aware especially of injustice and racism. It is smart to know and understand the conditions of one's environment. I hope that author isn't totally ignorant or an old fool or both. 😁😎

I believe that article is behind a paywall. Nonetheless, it is amazing that athletes are told to "shut and play" if they express any political opinions, yet, someone wants to hold them accountable for forced labor when it comes to a shoe deal. Nevermind that the players do not own the brands. H8ll, if that is the case, there would be no sports teams if the players boycotted their racist owners who pay them to play. 😎

I'm more concerned with the ability and effectiveness of BLM in their messaging and pursuit of justice on behalf of black folks. 😎

A "study" is merely the process of asking questions, collecting information, analyzing and evaluating evidence, drawing conclusions, and sharing knowledge. Too much room for smoke and mirrors leaving it up the government. There's no accountabiilty; checks and balances. If the commission decides reparations is not worth pursuing, then what becomes the recourse for ADOS. I believe an independent commission led by intelligent AfroAmericans should take up the task of defining reparations and how it should be enumerated and compensated to ADOS. No doubt...reparations is a very tall order. As @Delano mentioned, it's not likely to happen for a number of reasons. Mainly because America would just as soon everybody forget slavery ever existed. 😎

@KENNETH, black filmmakers should definitely be taking advantage of alternative outlets. However, instead of relying on Hollywood, YouTube or Netflix, black folks need to develop an ownership mentality to invest in and build our own platforms.😎

The maximum sentence those 3 accomplices could face is life imprisonment. I believe the feds will be more lenient on the 3 of them since they let the ringleader cop a plea to 20-25 years. I suspect these 3 will get 10 years or less. However, they still face state charges in June. If they are found guilty by the state, that sentence will probably run concurrent with the feds. If all goes well for those 3, they could be free again in less than a decade. 😎

@Stefan is correct. As there are very few black-owned movie theaters in the US, black cinema has to compete with Hollywood for screens. Interestingly, AMC Theaters is the largest movie chain in the world. The largest single shareholder in the company is a Chinese conglomerate. 😎

If Con Ed is anything like my utility company, they will claim "weather" events caused the hike. 😁😎

A commitment to the military will pay for that child's college education. The parents end up saving money. 😁😎

I'm in agreement with that approach as long as it's fair across the board. 😎

First, it isn't my style to insult or attack anyone on a forum, therefore I have not stated that anybody is inferior. Nor am I suggesting that I've made a discovery that others do not understand. However, as a victim of the system of white supremacy, I'm qualified to state that it does exist. It doesn't require a whole lot of digging to unearth it.😎

My solution is to eliminate mandatory minimum and other sentencing guidelines that disproportionately affect AfroAmericans. Provide AfroAmerican offenders with the same alternatives to prison as afforded to whites. 😎

That false equivalence still does not address the disparate treatment AfroAmericans receive compared to whites for the same offenses.😎

Unlike the fairy tale that religion promotes, the system of white supremacy is on full display. There are many people who either fail to understand what it is and how it works or they choose to bury their heads in the sand and/or walk around wearing rose-colored glasses.😎

I know a helluva lot more about it than I can share on a public forum. The disproportionate number of AfroAmericans stretched out for non-violent drug offenses, triple strikes and RICOs is ridiculous. Again, AfroAmericans do not own the boats, planes, ships, trucks and other forms of transportation responsible for bringing drugs into the US. Yet, AfroAmericans are responsible for taking all of the charges that comes with distribution and usage. American Presidents starting with Richard Nixon through Bill Clinton insured that drugs would destroy the AfroAmerican community. 😎

False. I'm a huge proponent of black self-sufficiency, excellence, pride and awareness. In the same way that Jews will never let anyone forget about the holocaust and/or come at them sideways, I don't believe black folks should ever believe white supremacy does not exist. 😎

Reads like a deflection from the disparate punishment for blacks versus whites for similar offenses. Rome doesn't have anything to do with AfroAmericans in the US. Black mules are not responsible for bringing 98% of the drugs into the US. 😎

I do not believe a God would sanction slavery but rhetorically, I do wonder why it would be allowed to exist among the supposedly highest form of intelligence. 😎

AfroAmericans are incarcerated in state prisons across the country at nearly five times the rate of whites. AfroAmericans do not have the resources to bring drugs into the US. Yet, we are disproportionately incarcerated for it. SInce the late 1970s, the US prison industrial complex has grown exponentially; built on warehousing AfroAmericans for mostly non-violent offenses. 😎

Today, the DOJ (Dept of Justice) has found those three murderers guilty of committing a federal hate crime. 😎

White supremacy and all that it entails extends beyond the US. 😎

No doubt. There is a common denominator of all non-white people on this planet. Culture, religion, status, class and other distractions keep folks from dealing with it.😎

There is no shortage of smart, successful and hardworking Black men and women in various areas of human activity who could be leaders. If those individuals are willing to be beacons of light, inspiration and motivation to the masses, they should be given a platform to shine. Young black people especially need to see positive black role models everywhere they turn starting with their parents and extended family, in their communities, on TV and beyond. Technologically, Black folks have the tools to broadcast positive leadership. Again, we need to stop wasting so much bandwidth on negative images, materialism and consumerism.😎
