  1. This sister breaks it down as to why she considers herself an American and embrace America as her country, and as a Black man I feel similarly. She makes an excellent point about racist Trump supporters wanting to take back "their" country. Hell, Trump's parents or grandparents are from SCOTLAND....most Black people have ancestors who've gone back 10 or 15 generations on this land! Also, listen to the West Indian who calls in around 15 minutes later who also articulates as to why Black Americans should embrace their country. Black people helped build this country, it's silly to let OTHER people (many of them children of immigrants or immigrants themselves) embrace the nation and it's wealth and make themselves at home on land that OUR ancestors fought for.
  2. Troy I've read that book before. Or should I say....I've read "through" it. I'm already hip to the atrocities this nation has committed at home to the Blacks, Native Americans and even other Whites.....as well as abroad to people in other nations. Remember, I'm the one who spent months trying to convince you and CD that the water supplies of America's inner cities were being poisioned with lead and other toxins causing violence and other social problems. But I know how to separate the good of America from the bad. I even separate the good of the American government from it's bad side. I still maintain that this nation has been better for Black people's social and economic progress during the past 200 years than almost any other nation in the world during the same time period. Besides...... Shouldn't our roles be reversed? This society has been better to YOU than it's been to me so far anyway.....lol. You're well educated, have a professional career, a family, and seem to be solidly in the upper middle class. America's been good to YOU. I'm still poor and don't own my own home....lol. If ANYBODY on this site should be clowning on America and talking about her inequalities and injustices it should be ME. And I actually do from time to time....but I still recognize that if I DO find huge success, this the land I'm most likely to find it in. And before you clap back with the fact that you achieved everything you have not BECAUSE of America but DESPITE America's inequalities and injustices and through smarts and hard work...... Let me remind you that there are plenty of smart hard working people all over the world who don't have a fraction of what you or even I have because they don't have the resources nor opportunities to acquire them in their countries. Hard work and smarts mean little in an environment where you aren't free or safe to express them.
  3. Cynique What happened between you and Sara was an example of two women who never met eachother in real life and ONLY knew eachother from their limited exchanges on a website, allowing their egos and tempers to get so far out of control that both began going at eachother's throats in an online pissing contest. THAT'S what happened.....lol. And again, Whether it was "real" or not. Whether it was "justified" or not. Regardless as to who started it or who was at fault. .....the fact is YOU allowed another person's WORDS to rile you up to the point of blind rage. Yet you want to sit up there smiling with your hands clasped on your knee asking me why in the world would I allow another person's words get me so worked up to the point of anger. Again, don't sit there pretending to be so holy and angelic. As far as other terms not having the same effect.............. In Black culture we don't just look at the words or terms but the INTENT behind the terms. We focus on the feelings and emotions behind the words spoken. Me and other Black men call eacother "muthafucka" all day long, we don't take it in it's literal meaning. My own father called me a "muthafucka" one time.....lol. I wasn't bad enough to call HIM one back though.....lol. We know when we use it on eachother it's usually intended to be used as an "intensifier" to add strength and emotion to the conversation, not implying they you had sex with your own mother. And it's the same with "nigga". We understand the intent behind it when WE use it. When a White person uses it we know the intent behind it too, and it's not a term of endearment but usually a term of hate and violence. I never did like the term "son of a bitch" though. It was more of a White person's thing to say. Now go some where and salute the flag of the country you are so beholden to, but to whom you are just a nigger who wants white folks not to devastate you by calling you one. You keep displaying your lack of patriotism and I'm gonna call the White folks at the Social Security office and have them "devastate" YOU.....lol.
  4. Troy I simply disagree. You are saying that if there were no Tupac, all the negativity in the Black community we have associated to Gangster rap would not have existed. Tupac was a solid rap artist, but there are a great many solid rap artists. Come on man, you can you sit up there and accuse me of saying something I EXPLICITLY went out of my way to NOT say? I said from the jump: "No he wasn't the CAUSE of the ills the Black community suffers from today, but he CONTRIBUTED to much of it. Just like NWA, Ice T, Biggie, and the other gangter rappers of yesterday and today. " Now you got me putting ALL of the problems gangster rap has caused on Pac. Again, he isn't the cause of "all" of it or even "most" of it. But given his status and influence, he certainly is a major cause of much of it. Who can deny his role in making "thugging" and "thugged out" and "thug life" aspirations among so many of our youth today? Now if you say that if gangster rap did not exist at all there would be less dysfunction for the generation of Black youth were reared on this stuff. I'd be willing to say perhaps. Well that's SOME of what I'm saying. We were talking about Tupac and his role specifically, but generally speaking, yes, I believe this to be the case. Now mind you, there was still a lot of negativity in the Black community BEFORE gangster rap. WEB Dubois was talking about the criminality and lawlessness of Blacks in Philadelphia back in the turn of the century. Infact, I'm reading a book right now about the plague of Black crime back in the 50s and 60s and how the Black communities around the nation were struggling with it even back then. It's called "Locking Up Our Own" https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/11/books/review-locking-up-our-own-james-forman-jr.html I'm halfway through it.....very insightful. The negative element has existed since we were first brought to the United States. You had murderers, pimps, thieves, gangsters, numbers runners, ect.....for decades. But what Gangsta Rap did was take the negative element and GLORIFY it and make it cool and mass marketed it among our youth in such a way to influence them to emulate the violence and criminality that was formerly common only to a certain segment of the population. But then you'd also have to explain why white boys who buy most of the gangster rap were not, apparently, similarly effected and why many Black men are not. Well for one, most White kids may have liked the music but they couldn't RELATE to it. In other words, they loved the beat and the rhythm but it's hard Secondly, most White kids in the suburbs don't experience the OTHER pressures and influences that accompany Black youth of the inner city that would make for a full recipe of chaos and dysfunction. White kids may listen to gangster rap.....but still have a father at home. White kids may listen to gangster rap.....but live in a safe middle class community. White kids may listen to gangster rap.....but have access to mental health treatment. White kids may listen to gangster rap.....but don't have a need to sell dope to make a living. White kids may listen to gangster rap......but their water isn't full of lead and other toxins making them violent. Finally, as goofy as it may seem.....most White kids despite listening ot gangstger rap and enjoying it still KNOW THAT THEY'RE WHITE AND NOT BLACK. Meaning, they may enjoy hearing about the wild crazy criminal life of the Black ghetto, but at the end of the day they know it's a reality they don't share and have no desire to so they feel no need to emulate it or re-enact it. Infact...... White kids of a more racist type like neo-nazis and skin-heads may listen to ganster rap and even PROMOTE it among themselves to confirms and re-affirm many of the negative stereotypes about Black people they already have. They believe and teach that Blacks are less intelligent and more violent and criminal minded and listening to Black rappers basically not only admit this in their music but brag about it......confirms their grandious beliefs of racial superiority.
  5. Troy Pioneer anything is possible, but for me to believe Obama wanted Hillary to lose and Trump is inconceivable. Again I need a good reason to explain the motivation for Obama to want this outcome. I can't get into a brain as complicated as Obama's and try to figure out what would motivate his behavior. Nor am I blaming him totally for Clinton's loss. But I AM holding him PARTIALLY responsible for it because: a) He had a legal and legitimate opportunity to stop Trump before the election and refused to do so and b ) Instead of encouraging his Secretary of State and party's nominee to fight tooth and nail until the very end for one of the world's most important positions, he is one of the first to urge her to immediately surrender and admit defeat. Not sure what President Obama's motives were but those are facts, make of them what you will.
  6. Cynique A black person can ignore this spoken epitaph, but they certainly aren't going to ignore physical aggression and a white person knows this. But if they don't take heed to the violent LANGUAGE that usually preceeds the violent ACT (as you propose they do), they may not be prepared for that violence. I've seen many fights in my life, and the vast majority of them were preceeded by angry violent talk and insults. No Black person with good sense is going to just shrug off being called a nigger by a White person because they almost intuitively know there will be more to follow. i must say your description of your reaction to this word makes you sound like a mindless bull who somebody waved a red cape at. Just what goes on in your head when you react this irrational way?? Lol.... What was going on in YOUR head when you were going nuts trading insults with another Black woman (Sara) online? This wasn't even real life and you felt angry and frustrated enough to insist on retaliating each and every time she said something negative to you, but you're sitting up there scratching your head at MY reaction? Come on now, don't act like you're THAT disciplined and composed.....lol. Troy Motown, born and raised. But like most Black people in the North our relatives migrated from down South. Perhaps most Blacks in New York and Boston have different experiences because of the generations of Carribean and African immigrants. I'm sure there's still a strong presence of southern culture from the early Black migrants of Georgia and the Carolinas. Black folks have adopted this culture and carried with them to the north. It is why you can't talk about their mommas, step on their sneakers, or use the word nigger with out they blowing a gasket, and even becoming murderous... Man, are you serious.....lol. Show me Black men ANYWHERE on this planet who don't get mad when you talk about their mammas or step on their shoes! Go to the continent of Africa, bump into any Black man you feel has had the least contact with White culture. If you can figure out his language, go ahead and talk about his mother and check out his reaction. Just make sure you have an escape plan....lol I know about the honor culture and it's routed in the collective consciousness of caucasians not only in the United States but in Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. This culture is mostly tied to SEXUAL activity and control over women. It's where the so-called "honor killing" comes from. No, this isn't some "honor code"..... The volatile reaction most Black men (and Black women) have to being called a nigger by White men comes from collective racial memory of the violence and murder that often surrounded the word. Like I said, if a White man is bold enough to walk up and call you a nigger to your face most likely he's in an "I don't give a fuck" mode in which he's so drunk or crazy that he doesn't care about the consequences of his actions. Most Black folks instinctively know this and that's what causes that reaction, they are preparing themselves for what may come next! By the way, you do know us niggers really did not wear pants back in Africa right? I can dig it! The "niggers" I see bouncing up and down the street are barely wearing their pants here in America! Besides..... Why would men with 7 or 8 wives wear pants anyway? They'd just get in the way and slow things down.
  7. Cynique Where are you getting your information about what the President told Hillary Clinton??? Did she take Obama's advice instead of her husband's? Did she really buckle under pressure from him. i have my doubts. It was all on the news right after the election....... http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/307536-obama-urged-clinton-to-concede-on-election-night https://townhall.com/tipsheet/jasonhopkins/2016/11/26/on-election-night-obama-told-clinton-to-concede-n2250883 This article says that Hillary really didn't want to concede but Obama kept urging her to do so: http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/election-night-concede-peaceful-transition-of-power/2017/04/17/id/784868/ Troy Pioneer I can;t know the answer to your questions, but if I followed your logic it would be reasonable to conclude that Obama actually wanted Hillary to lose and for Trump to be president. I find this hard to believe. Do you believe this @Pioneer1? If not who else would you explain Obama's behavior? Like John Gotti would say, "I dunno.....you tell me. Whudduz it look like to you?" Whether it's likely or not, do you think it's IMPOSSIBLE that Obama maybe would have wanted Hillary to lose? I can't figure out what was going on in the head of Obama or Clinton. What I DO know is Hillary had a very real chance to be president that night and it's hard to believe someone who put in all of those years of wheeling and dealing and becoming senator and secretary and campaigning and hard work and came THIS CLOSE to being president and ready to fight and challenge the election results......only for the head of the party to repeatedly urge her to go ahead and concede and give up. How could Obama, sitting on all of that information about Trump and the Russians STILL urge Clinton to just give up and accept defeat?
  8. Cynique If white people started openly calling black people "nigger", and black people thwarted them by ignoring or laughing at them, the word would lose its power. White people use it as a weapon that makes black people explode, then they sit back and smugly admire their work What a SILLY conclusion to come to......lol. Do you really believe that? Life experience tells you that if a White person is bold enough to call you a nigger to your face, they're bold enough to do something else....often something VIOLENT. A friend of mine tells how a little white girl once called her a nigger and she laughed and stuck out her tongue at the little bitch who promptly broke down and started crying. I guess if a red faced White man with a rope in his hand walks up to you smelling like alcohol and calls you a "fucking nigger" to your face, I suppose you'll just poke your tongue out at him and POOF...he'll vanish into thin air, lol. There are worse things to be called than nigger. e.g. motherfucker, cocksucker, son of a bitch, asshole or cunt, Nigger is a slave term that is kept alive by the knee-jerk reaction it provokes. Such is life. With the exception of cocksucker and cunt, I've had White people both friendly and not so friendly call me all of those names.....and NONE of them affected me as nearly as negatively as when they called me a nigger. There's no getting around it, the word DOES have power. Troy Actually "nigger does not really bother me. I've been called it by white folks a couple of times but never really felt threatened except for once and this was in Brooklyn NY. If a White man called himself a nigger, that wouldn't bother me.....but if he called ME a nigger that would! I remember the first time I was called a nigger it wasn't by a White person, but by an Arab. We were both kids and although he was ghetto and street, the way he said it to me let me knew there was no love behind it. The next time I was called it, I had just moved to some small town in the Pacific Northwest and got called a nigger almost every day by SOMEBODY driving pass me on the street until I moved after a few weeks....lol. A friend of mine pulled a good but dangerous joke on me a couple weeks ago. He saw me in a mall and followed me into a Kenneth Cole store and while I was holding a pair of pants he whispered at me in a disguised voice, "You niggers didn't wear pants back in Africa". Man, I threw the pants on the floor and everything felt like slow motion as I spun around and got ready for.....whatever. Even after I turned around and recognized it was him he IMMEDIATELY realized the damage he did...lol. The smile that was on HIS face disappeared to terror as he stepped back and put his hands up as if to say don't you recognize me...we're boys!!! I felt sorry for HIM for a minute because he looked like he was facing a mad dog...lol It took about 5 minutes for my pressure to go down and get out of "combat" mode. We went to the café for some conversation and I was STILL in high vibration...lol.
  9. Although I didn't flinch at Bill Maher using it..... I kind of like the fact that Black people still have enough pride to actually GET ANGRY over words. It's called pride and dignity. When a people lose their pride and dignity, and start letting anyone call them anything without taking any offense to it what so ever, it won't be long before they start letting people DO anything to them without taking offense. One of the saddest things is to see so many smart intelligent Black people suppress the "fight" in them out of fear of looking uncivilized or overly offended. Remember, this is one of the things we criticized Obama for. He let too much shit go on with the opposition all because of this neurotic fear of being labeled as an "angry Black man". Right now the vast majority of racism is practiced covertly and in coded language, but if it gets to the point that White folks can start calling Black folks "nigger" and not expect to see a volatile reaction.....that'll give them the green light to practice more of it overtly.
  10. Cynique 4th of July has a special significance to ALL Americans, not just White Americans....lol. If the Whites under the British rule hadn't fought for their independence, there wouldn't have been a Civil War for OUR independence (or physical independence atleast). Remember, the British treated everyone in it's colonies of all races as their subjects. Infact, the British Empire would have probably gotten stronger and her African and Asian colonies would probably STILL be under her thumb. Troy The Constitution may have been formed BY White men FOR White men, but that doesn't stop Black people from using it if they so desire. Beer and liquor was also made BY White folks FOR White folks, but it doesn't stop negroes from guzzling it down all day every day. Black folks have a habit of picking and choosing what parts of America they include themselves in while conveniently neglecting other parts that require sacrifice or major decision making....they leave that to the "real Americans", lol. Nothing is keeping Black folks collectively from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights like White folks, except laziness and disunity. And it's the same with other rights that Black people as citizens of this nation have but too often choose not to exercise like voting, assembly, commerce, ect..... We can't get mad at White folks or claim it's THEIR thing and not ours when we have the same opportunity COLLECTIVELY to do what they are doing and be even more successful. Look at the Asians. Half of them aren't even American citizens and behave more like American citizens than WE do.
  11. Troy Pioneer wrote, "If you love Obama, you should love Trump....because Obama MADE Trump," I completely disagree with this statement and any conclusions that flow from it. I would have to invoke my "Power to Defy Logic," to cosign on that one You find it illogical that Obama is the reason Trump is in office today? Then let me ask you two questions: 1. If President Obama had ACTED on prosecuting or atleast investigating in a public manner EVERYONE he and his Justice Department suspected of colluding with the Russian government at that time.....do you think Trump would be president? Trump was accusing Obama of spying on him WITHOUT any evidence, and here Obama HAD evidence and just let things go! 2. Because she won the popular vote by such a large margine, Hillary Clinton as well as most of those in her campaign wanted the challenge the results of the election but Obama was the FIRST to call her up and told her not to and to go ahead and concede. And you don't think that made a difference. You think if Obama hadn't called and encouraged her to concede as opposed to demanding that she actually FIGHT for the spot.....Trump would have just as easily gotten into the Whitehouse as he did? Cynique https://aalbc.com/tc/profile/9056-troy/Well, just because the Republicans cleaned the Democrat's clock, doesn't mean that black people deserted the Democratic party in large numbers, which was your original claim. it just means that the Republicans successfully tapped into the resentment and discontentment of a key segment of the white population. Their victory was a fluke because everybody including Republicans, themselves, underestimated the insidious bigotry permeating white America. The Republicans didn't clean the Democrats' clock. The Democrats just gave up without a fight....as usual....and let the Republicans have the Whitehouse. Remember 3 million MORE Americans voted for Hillary than Trump, so the majority of the American people are actually for the Democrats and their agenda and I believe that includes most White people. FDR was president of a nation caught in the throes of a great Depression and he had bi-partisan support in mobilizing the country to get back on its feet. He also realized that a war would be a boom to the economy, and the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was anticipated. A war did boost the economy - at the cost of millions of American lives. The economy was boosted BEFORE the war. As soon as Roosevelt took office he used the powers of his executive office to immediately create jobs for the millions of unemployed as well as implimented major welfare programs to address the immediate problems of homelessness and hunger. This was done in the early 30s. The United States didn't really get involved in WWII until a decade later in the 40s. The war certainly HELPED the economy and sent it into overdrive, but the economy was improving long before then based on the executive action of the President. Something Obama....and Clinton...and other presidents before them could have done but didn't. The message being sent is that law enforcement has the upper-hand in this or any society. Whose fault is that? Well..... During the Obama Administration...OBAMA was at fault. He had Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, two AfroAmerican Attorney Generals who could have used their positions to change police policies all over the nation, yet he failed to do so. Not picking on Obama, because the presidents before him could have done the same. Just showing you what Obama COULD have done if he indeed wanted to and took the problem seriously enough. Providing jobs? OK. Providing jobs that pay a living wage, not so much. Whose fault is that? Again, if it's during Obama's Administration it's HIS fault because he could have used executive orders to engineer a jobs program the paid living wages like Roosevelt did. Now all of a sudden you are defending Hillary's honor. How can you blame Obama for her defeat?? I can blame him for her defeat! In part atleast................. Does anyone find it suspicious that President Obama is the one who first told Hillary not to challenge the election but just go ahead and concede? There were those in her camp that wanted her to challenge the results and take it all the way to the Supreme Court like Bush v Gore, but Obama....the same one you claim EXPECTED her to win.....for some reason TOLD her to go ahead and concede the same damn night.
  12. Troy If he never existed do you think anything would be materially different in the Black community? Ofcourse. Everyone born on this planet makes SOME sort of a difference and has SOME impact on society no matter how microscopic. Rather than speculating on what the Black community would be like if Tupac had never existed, I'd rather speculate on what the Black community would be like if he hadn't chosen the negative path for his career. For one, I'm sure you wouldn't see nearly as many Black people with tatoos as you do today. I'm sure you wouldn't have so many Black males calling themselves "thugs" and taking pride in it. Some say when it's your time it's your time, but there's a possibility that if he hadn't went negative and gloomy he'd probably still be alive today and with his talent and charisma there's no telling what type of POSITIVE impact he would be having on this society. And although no scientific study has been done, I often wonder how many Black men killed other Black men as a direct result of getting worked up off of listening to Tupac's music. Ofcourse the same things could be said for NWA, Biggie, and the other forefathers of gangster rap and negative Hiphop. But since we're talking about Pac specifically...... Of the thousands of Black men who have been killed by other Black men since the mid 90s, don't you think atleast ....say....a dozen or two.....maybe more....of those killing could have been attributed directly to Tupac's glorification of violence in his music?
  13. Cynique Has anybody ever said what he should've done to turn things around for black people. What could've been done to create more jobs and make law enforcement more accountable. And it can't be so lightly dismissed that he was hog-tied by a Republican senate. Ever heard of "executive orders"? Trump has issued dozens of them since the 6 months he's been in office. More than Obama's entire 2 terms. Obama has a Black Attorney General in office for both terms, they are the HEAD of all the law enforcement in the United States. Any orders he gave them they would have been duty bound to carry out all the way down to the lowest police officer. But what did he choose to do instead? Have beer with the cop who assaulted Henry L. Gates, one of our foremost Black scholars today. As far as creating jobs, he could have used an executive order to initiate those too.....like Franklin D. Roosevelt did to aleviate the Great Depression. Ofcourse congress would have had to fund it, but he could have still initiated it. But again, he refused to do so and instead came up with some "cash for clunkers" garbage. You can get things done when you WANT to get things done. But if you're just going through the motions and bullshitting people, then you'll come up with every convenient excuse in the world to cover for your inaction. Troy I'll take Obama over that any day of the week--shoot I'll take Bush (1 or 2). Yes and no. Yes I'll take Obama over Trump simply because I don't think Obama would be quite AS caustic to Black America as Trump is. But if I thought he'd actually DO something positive for me and other Black people, I'd sure enough support him! I'm not a Republican or a Democrat....I'm for whoever will support me and my cause. If you asked me who I think would be the most effective leader and who would accomplish the most for his base and those who got him in office....I'd go with Trump all the way. Ofcourse he lies like most politicians, but with this travel ban and his urging to eliminate Obama Care...he's done more for his base already than Obama has done for HIS in the past 8 years. Look at all the Black men who have been shot by cops under Obama. And look at all the White officers that shot them who have been exonerated under Trump. You tell ME who's been the most effective?
  14. Troy I'll be totally honest with you. When I heard Bill say that, I didn't flinch and I really didn't think anything of it. First of all he was calling himself a house nigger, not a Black person. Second, although there's some shady shit he's said in the past that I don't care too much for I do think he's somewhat of an "ally" being a strong and articulate left-winger. So I don't think it's really wise to demonize or ostracize key White liberals in the media with the risk of driving him to the OTHER side and turning him conservative. Because if you remember, that's what happened with Geraldo Rivera...lol. Geraldo (who I didn't completely trust either) was a strong liberal and used to speak out heavily against racism but when he said he believed OJ was guilty and some leaders of the Black community called him out and challenged him on it....he didn't get over that. He actually turned conservative and joined Fox News.....lol. If I were sitting right next to Bill when he said that not only wouldn't I have demanded an apology I probably would have laughed a little at him calling himself that. Now is Bill a closet racist who made a Freudian slip? I don't know, like I said I've heard him say shady shit in the past. But at this point I'm not going to speculate or throw him in the same heap as Richard Spencer or David Duke over one or two off-handed comments. Which leads me to my next point.......... Political correctness has gone too far. because it masks what people really feel. I'm noticing more and more Black people complaining about political correctness and I have to wonder do they understand the history and purpose of it. They hear White men complaining about it....infact most White males HATE political correctness and complain about it every chance they get....and now it's caught on and has become popular to demonize political correctness. But White men don't like it because it doesn't allow them to be as openly racist and sexist as they've been in the past. I don't like the idea of people's speech being constantly monitored and controlled, but also believe a polite society or a relatively politically correct society is a much less violent society. If everyone went around telling others how they REALLY felt about them or what they REALLY thought of them, a lot of business wouldn't get done and there'd be a lot of people fighting and/or staying away from eachother. I don't think most people like their bosses, so imagine if they refrained from political correctness and just TOLD them that out-right.....lol. Many would get fired, others would get shittier working conditions, ect.....so most have learned to hold a mask to their face. What if a White person who worked at a resturant you ate at regularly all of a sudden looked at you with a smile and said he didn't like Black people and thought they were disgusting? What you still continue to eat there? Probably not. Ofcourse you'd like to know who your enemies are, but you don't want them to have the freedom to just act their hatred out either. Cynique Maher readily admits that he benefits from white entitlement and that he is inadvertantly racist. That's about all impotent blacks can ask from whites who are their political allies against lying, right-wing Conservative, white supremist Republicans as well as the phony, spineless, ineffective, Democrat Liberals who Maher regularly excoriates. This is part of my point. I hadn't even read this before my post to Troy but I DO consider Bill somewhat of an "ally" in the fight against rabid right wing extremism. We have to learn the art of diplomacy and politics and how to keep people on our side without being so critical of every little mistake they make that it runs them away from us and into the arms of our enemies.
  15. No he wasn't the CAUSE of the ills the Black community suffers from today, but he CONTRIBUTED to much of it. Just like NWA, Ice T, Biggie, and the other gangter rappers of yesterday and today. They took a negative element that already existed in our community....in every community....and GLORIFIED it and MAGNIFIED it, making it more popular among Black youth. So now when 25 people get shot at a night club in Little Rock.....no one is really suprised nor is there much of an outrage, it's almost seen as normal because it's been rapped about so much. Unlike the Kool Moe Dee's and Public Enemy's of the earlier Hiphop era, NWA and Tupac helped make being a "nigga" cool. Running up and down the stage with your shirt off slinging your arms like a monkey, or getting on television and counting your money with slob hanging out your mouth was the thing to do. No doubt Tupac was talented. And that's why I believe he was USED, along with the other talented and influencial gangster rappers like Ice Cube and Dre to steer Black youth in a negative direction. The same can be said of 50 Cent and Lil Wayne. They are talented and influencial and being used as tools to criminalize and demoralize Black youth so that they become perpetual slaves in a prison industrial complex.
  16. Troy Is talking like that, in mixed company, considered sexist today? Your statement is harmless and quite flattering, but do you know I actually got in trouble over a comment similar to that at a job many years ago? I used to work in a store as a cashier and one very slow day it was me, 2 other male employees and about 5 female employees all bunched up together joking around. Our manager complained about all of us being up front and said there were too many people congregated in one place. I jokingly said I didn't know there was any such thing as "too many women" in one place. The manager was female and didn't mind it, but later she called me in the office and gave me a verbal warning because one of the females there who heard me say it complained! Sexual harassment and related offenses have changed a lot over the years as the work place has gotten more and more strict. The problem with this type of talk is........ I've found that some women LOVE it when men talk this way because it makes us look masculine and brave....like we're challenging the system and bucking the norm. Other women really do find it offensive. So like you said, in mixed company you never know who you're offended or what they think of it. A lot of times women who aren't offended actually PRETEND to be offended when they're around other women because they're conditioned to believe that's how they SHOULD act when a man makes a sexual joke or comment. Even if they really find it charming, they are taught they should be offended by it. And I believe a lot of this offense and outrage is race-related. Anywho, that is the thing that strikes me every time I visit. The city has more than it's share of beautiful Black people. That's what I love about Atlanta. It seems to attract some of the finest Black women some of the most professional Black people in general, I believe it's because of all the Black colleges. Washington D.C. and Baltimore also has a lot of Black professionals, but those cities are so old and crumbling that they really don't compare to a newer more cosmopolitan Atlanta. I wanted Detroit to be that way. It's actually Blacker than Atlanta but doesn't have the Black professional class Atlanta has. I know a lot of brothers and sisters I grew up with who left Detroit just to go down and establish themsleves in Atlanta, and you can probably say the same. Most of the people who live in Atlanta aren't even from there but are Black folks from the Eastcoast Westcoast and North who just flocked down there to make a new life for themselves.
  17. Troy It's not that hard to figure out. Sex is the portal through which human life is usually brought into existence and it's one of the things the tend to pre-occupy the minds of most people either consciously or subconsciously. Like they say, everything a man (and most women) does is somehow tied to getting more sex. You go to school....to get a good job....so you can attract more women for sex. You buy a nice car....so you can attract more women for sex. You go to church.....hoping to find a wife.....to have sex. You vote for Obama....hoping he'll make your life better....so you can have more sex. So it should be of little suprise that when you acquire SUPER POWERS....you'd use those powers to attract more women for sex, and then impress them with your super skills in bed, lol. Del the failure is in or with life. So the sadness is the failure of either rhe father to see the son's plight. Ir the son being overwhelmed by life. Neither is a success. Suicide ir the attempt is the end result of resignation. Sure after a certain amount of time passes, perhaps an hour or two...perhaps a few days.. the father would be sad at the fact that his son would attempt to take his own life. But in the moment upon immediately discovering or witnessing what his son tried to do and his failure at it, the father would be elated that the son is STILL ALIVE after that failed attempt. A father comes how from work and finds a suicide note on the table from his son who says that he has decided to hand himself upstairs in his room. ((probably because he wasn't having sex)) The father rushes upstairs in a panic looking for his son. At this point, he hope his son ISN'T successful. He hope his son HASN'T hurt himself or that he can catch him in time. He hopes that his son has FAILED. So when he kicks the door in and finds his son laying on the floor of his room crumpled up in a heap with a noosed sheet around his neck crying and coughing instead of swinging from the ceiling dead, in that very moment and probably for atleast a few hours afterwards pops is happy as hell at his son's failure! An answer to your question, what dad ISN'T saddened by the failure of his own kid....lol.
  18. Whether or not a woman was a virgin really wasn't a big deal for me. Infact, if I had to nail down a choice I would choose the one who wasn't a virgin. Blood is a turn off whether it's from a virgin or menstration. I've had 2 virgins....one of who didn't even know she WAS a virgin! She thought oral sex was real sex and found out the "hard" way (pun intended) that she wasn't...lol. I just don't want a woman who's had a LOT of sexual partners. 5 is the limit. If I find out you've been shafted by more than 5 different men, we could still be friends and talk....but that's it. If you're 60, I may be a little more forgiving. But if you're 30 and had 20 different boyfriends....have mercy.
  19. He refused to do it because, like everybody else, he thought Clinton was going to win. He was a lame duck president, so what did he have to lose by outing Russia, if he thought it was feasible. He could have GUARANTEED Clinton's victory instead of assuming it...like Gore did in 2000. Democrats refuse to fight half the time, and don't even know HOW to fight when they choose to. He had absolutely NOTHING to lose by launching a major investigation in the last few months of the election to find out if the Republicans were colluding with Russia and perhaps making arrests of those suspected. This would have assured Clinton's victory.....but he just couldn't do that. He seemed to always have an excuse for losing or NOT giving his grassroot supporters what they want. Yes Obama did help Trump enable all of those bigots and homophobes and hypocritical Evangelicals and white supremists and misogynists "forgotten people" yearning to get that nigger out of office and make America great again. Which is right up your alley since you've proven to be a closet Obama hater who loves this wonderful country. . I don't hate Obama. I voted for him the FIRST time he ran. I'm more disappointed in him than anything. I see him more as weak, too "cerebral" and out of touch with what most people are going through. People love a fighter, especially someone who's fighting for THEM. I'm sure that most of the few Black people who DO support Trump are doing so because they believe he'll actualy DO something for them, as opposed to Obama who had a million and one excuses for why he couldn't.
  20. Del I am mistaken, Mel's response was similar. Very creative answer. I wouldn't have thought of it. Thank you. I wanted recognition for my genius....and now I've gotten it, lol.
  21. I've heard of him. I believe him and Tariq Nasheed (Hidden Colors producer) got into some sort of altercation not too long ago. Now Tariq routinely insults him on his show with a puppet doll and calls him "crispy".....lol. I lived in Atlanta briefly and I didn't detect any real friction between Black men and women there. Infact, I've hooked up with a few good sisters in the ATL. I've seen cities that were much worse.....like Chicago and Philadelphia where you can't even LOOK at a Black woman on the street without her having an attitude or rolling her eyes. Infact, back in the 90s Atlanta was KNOWN to have some of the finest sistaz in the country...lol. I remember they used to have the Freaknic back in the day. But the thing I really noticed about Atlanta when I first arrived was the very large population of gay and effeminate Black men. I call it the San Francisco of the South. I remember visiting Morehouse College for the first time and being amazed at so many young men walking around in skirts and high heels.....WTF! It's funny that both Atlanta and San Francisco have high gay populations and both cities have some of the most attractive women in the nation. I don't know if there's some sort of correlation....lol. But I didn't see nor did I experience ANY problems with Black women in the ATL. Perhaps this is because I didn't hang out in the hood. I stomped around Buckhead and the Lenox Square area trying to get as close to the rich and famous negroes as I could....lol.
  22. Eminem Tiger Woods Michael Jordan and JayZ I can understand the examples of Eminem and Tiger Woods excelling in industries that are predominated by another race.....but I don't undertand the examples of MJ and Jay Z. Troy Now wait until foreigners start to surpass Black folks Wait???? It's already happening in many major cities. Since the 60s, Black people have become so "satisfied" and apathetic that they've allowed Latinos and Asians to gain economic, political and even demographic power in the United States. Too many of our people mistakenly believed that because these were "people of color" that they were going to automatically be on our side, but as it turned out many of them were more racist and posed a bigger threat to Black progress than even Whites. Whites have brought them in largely to replace Black people as the NEW slaves. Willing to work harder and complain less.
  23. I divulge my deepest desires ONLY to those who can actually grant them. Troy maybe I'd be birthing other universes... Oh So THAT'S your solution to climate change......lol. I heard there was a time when virginity was prized by women Did you mean prized BY women or prized IN women? Because I don't know too many women who seek virgin/unexperienced men for partners, even among youth. Del What Dad isn't sadden by the failure of his kid. ? A dad who found his son immediately after a failed suicide attempt?
  24. Haven't seen it yet, and I don't have a very strong desire TO see it. I don't have the type of respect and reverence for Tupac that most Black people seem to have for him. I think his entertainment career has caused far more harm than good for Black America. He's a major reason so many Black youth today: 1. Are getting so many tatoos. 2. Take pride in calling themselves "thugs" 3. Refer to other Black men as "bitch ass niggas" so much The image he pushed was very damaging. It REALLY confuses me when people call him a revolutionary and try to portray him as some sort of Black messiah. So what if his mother was a Black Panther who stood up for Black rights.....HE rapped about and glorified the killing of other Black men. As far as I'm concerned he was a charismatic and talented brother who MIS-used and wasted most of his talent and charm.
  25. I don't recall or see where anyone offered my second option of simply asking that someone give up their seat so that I can cast the broken chair aside and sit in theirs instead. Who mentioned this?
