  1. @ProfD I completely forgot about this! Alternative schools! Yes, that is now a big question for me to think about. Why didn't the administration reject him from being in that school and recommend him to be put in an alternative school!? This is what Deja's attorney was getting at as well. He said that the school accepted the child so, why would the mother be prosecuted when it was their responsibility to direct that child to an alternative school? However, after the fact and the deed is done, yes, the mother should be held responsible for allowing her child to be able to access that gun and then use it. The GMA interview was about 2 minutes longer on another site and it was said that child had only been in public school last year for 2 months in Kindergarten and then the year before that, he was only in school for 2 months in Pre-K. So, I can see that the COVID epidemic also becomes a factor too! The mother was stuck with her own child and could not send him out to 'public school day care center' for the teachers to deal with and he may have gotten on her nerves. Also the 'grandfather' is the mother's grandfather and in that other interview he said that he was the child's Great grandfather. So, it seems that the young mother may not have had a nurturing mother in her life as well, imo. So, the Great grandfather is the one to have custody. Never considered this!
  2. Deja Taylor, Mother of 6-Year Old School Teacher Shooter in Virginia, is Charged This case is heated! I believe that this case will cause a lot of controversy! I know that I have so many questions that concern me. My first thoughts are that, as a school teacher myself, how should I feel if the law does not offer the teacher adequate relief? She was shot by a kid and she could be dead right now! He shot her in her abdomen! What about other young school shooters such as the Parkland Shooter, was his mother charged? The videos that show the mother, Deja Taylor's comments, only makes me more shocked! She was interviewed by GMA and, well, I watched it multiple times because I just could not believe what I was hearing! Apparently, about a week prior to this school shooting, Deja Taylor, had to attend school with her son, EVERYDAY! But, she explained that she had gotten another doctor for her son, and did not have to attend classes with her son anymore. So, she stopped going a week before the shooting! On GMA, Deja explained that two days before the shooting, her son became angry with the teacher when he tried to explain something to her. The teacher told him to go to his seat, and Deja said that her son threw his hands up and 'ACCIDENTALLY' knocked the teachers cell phone out of her hand. But the teacher's lawsuit stated that the boy slammed the cell phone down so hard that it cracked. For this incedent the child was suspended. But obviously, he was allowed to come back to school and now, he did more than just throw his hands up and knock ther phone out of her hand! WHAT!? I was a teacher! When the teacher told him to go sit down--that is where I stopped listening to the rest of Deja's rendition! What!? The kid needed to explain something to the teacher to the point that he needed to get up out of his seat and approach her while she is also expected to instruct other students!? I just can't believe this. Our society rewards bad behavior. This is so crazy. Deja lost custody of ther son who his now in the custody of her father [grandfather?] and he was alos interviewed. He mentioned that he feels that if the shooter was White and the teacher was Black, then the attention this story is getting would not be as much. I am shaking my head. I absolutely understand what he is saying, however, the fact that the teacher was shot by a child, just shocks me. There is no excuse for this kind of situation. If a child is raped by a pedophile, I don't care whether the Devil is White or Black. And another question, well, again I have a lot of questions. Where is the father!? Why is the mother the only one charged with this crime? How in the world did a child that young get access to his mother's gun!? The mother said the child is ADHD and she describes is wild behavior. I hope that someone can imagine what I am thinking on this score! LOL.
  3. My Goodness! @Stefan You certainly have unloaded a lot of information that I have never heard! I am so glad that you have shared this. I have never heard of 'the Wagner Group' but I am trying to understand. Even though I have not read about Russia having any activities in Sudan, I did believe it, but now, you just confirmed my suspicions. I have been reading about one of the leaders, the one in charge of the paramilitary force, Dagalo [i.e., Hemedti]. And I read that he did have something to do with the gold trade and Russia! I also read that his tribe is connected to the Baggara. I wa surprised to learn that he only has a 3rd grade level education and for this reason, leaders state that he could never become the supreme head. But if this is true, then maybe that is why he separated from the other leader. Maybe he has aspirations to be the leader, I wonder. Turn the violence tide in Sudan? I think that the Sudanians and many of the people in Africa have some level of religious beliefs too that may be used as an underlying justification for their cause and Black Americans may run into conflicts if this aspect is not considered. As for me, I don't believe it is easy to completely understand what is really going on by researcing on an individual basis. For example, what you have shared about Wagner, I would not even know where to look to even find this kind of information. So I am happy to be able to access this AALBC community. Thank you again!
  4. RIP Harry Belafonte! Harry Belafonte, 96, Dies; Barrier-Breaking Singer, Actor and Activist In the 1950s, when segregation was still widespread, his ascent to the upper echelon of show business was historic. But his primary focus was civil rights. He was 96. The cause was congestive heart failure, said Ken Sunshine, his longtime spokesman. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/25/arts/music/harry-belafonte-dead.html *****MY NOTE: I can't believe that he is gone! IMO he was an amazing man. May he Rest In Peace.
  5. @richardmurray I don't think that there is an easy way to answer this question imo. In a sense, I don't believe that dealing with certain issues like sewage problems in Black communities in a confrontational and violent manner would help the people suffering. If they would have protested, the question in my mind is how long would they have to protest before their voices would be heard? It great that this issue is being addressed but it is stressful to know that children were playing in areas where raw sewage existed in their communities. I read the entire speech of Frederick Douglas that was postedand I think that he believed that Chinese people should be allowed to immigrate to America without being oppressed and sent away along with any other kind of immigrants who have been welcomed into America. And so, if Obama think on the same lines as Frederick Douglass, then it makes sense to why some Black Americans feel their concerns were ignored! Man!
  6. Wow! This seems to becoming the norm. Most of the public schools that were once predominantly Black in my area are now predominantly latino and/or hispanic kids.
  7. “Vision alone is not enough,” and investors and allies are essential, said Checole, who started Africa World and Red Sea in 1983. https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/publisher-news/article/92231-at-ibpa-black-indie-publishers-call-for-audacity-and-advocacy.html#comments I wish I had the confidence to write and publish. It's been years and I have been so fascinated in finding out about my ancestor from East Africa, so the Africa World and Red Sea Press is of so much interest to me. I love the photograph of the attendees to this affair. I clicked the names and enjoyed reading about each one including my most favorite, @Troy!
  8. Interesting! Yes, the video did mention something about how they constructed their dwellings. I have to go back and listen again as it was the first time I heard it and am not sure of all that was said. But I remember that some dwellings are designed at the top in a feminine form. This is fascinating to me because, it does make me think about ancient Egypt too and the French language in how some articles are feminine and some are masculine. So in terms of a feminine dwelling, it makes me also think about the letter 'M' in association to ancient Egypt letter that correlates to the human 'race' coming from THE WOMB! In French, the word HOUSE is feminine; MA MAISON and this IMO connects to the idea of THE WOMB. Also, years ago when I was researching, I came to believe that some fo the Dogon structures looks astonishingly similar to ancient American structures in the Southwest and also correlate to ancient Babylon.
  9. Yes, I can grasp this statement because I am depressed about this predicament. PRAYERS WITHOUT WORKS ARE COMPLETELY DEAD. But then at times, I feel that this situation will change and hope that Black people and humanitarians don't give up on fighting against this great evil of racism, Colorism and White Supremacy. Change is inevitable but if we do something to fight against it, then hopefully the change will be a positive one. At this present time, I am not giving up. This is interesting! A few months ago, I read also that Turkey is also having relations with Sudan too.
  10. What in the World is Going on In SUDAN! Should we as African Americans and Americans, in general, be concerned? Even though I was completely captivated about the celestial wonders going on in the middle of the month of April 2023, however, I was amazed at what I was hearing and reading about the conlfict in Sudan too, but at first, I didn't believe it was significant. I initially heard casual reports about many European and American officials being rushed out of Sudan and flown safely back to their European countries of origins but then, the news reports continued until finally, they became reported as NEWSBREAKS! Subconciously, I soon began to think that the news was bigger than what was initially reported. So, I soon began to hear major newsbreaks about African people also desperately fleeing Sudan to go back to their own African countries of origin and then I came to realize it was a big deal. So I decided to search for more information and came to also realize that my slow and gradual awareness of the crisis was because of the initial careful and secret operations carried out to ensure many people's flight out of Sudan due to the violence that abruptly broke out. From the little that I can understand, back on April 15, 2023, there was an abrupt conflict between the two major factors in Sudan. Back in the 1980s, the Bashir regime was ended and afterwards a De Facto transitional government was set up to aid in the transition to Democracy. There are two leaders, (1) the Defactor leader and (2) his deputy and it would be these two men that came to be leaders of two distinct groups of military coalitions that have now divided and began the conflict. I also heard that one faction has some type of interest with Russia based on trading. Anyway, following are a few brief videos and maybe someone might be able to explain more what is actually happening. 11. I rented that movie but I did not watch it back when Blockbuster was big. I had to return it before I was charged larte fees. Now I want to watch it since you've reminded me. I heard it was good. However, I bought the other movie, the Temptations, and have watched it many times on Tubi. I vaguely remember that the five heartbeats was suppose to be about the Tempatiations? Anyway, that movie is CRAZY GOOD! Their music is forever!
  12. WOW! That was insane! I've always been fascinated by the Dogon! I did not realize that they were connected to the Mali. I heard the commentator mention the Egyptologist Nicholas Grimal's research on them. I do believe too that they stem from the earliest Egyptian civilization. But I also think that the Dogon have a rich connection to the Cush Babylonians and the Philistines too because of their deep understanding of the constellations and outer space. Some modern scholars don't want to believe that the Dogon knew about the double star, Sirius, and that they knew about the rings around the planet saturn over a thousand years before they did. What an insult! The ancient Cush Hamites of the Babylonian empire were the ones noted for their genious in this field of science. They were the ones to develop the cirle and 60 degree concept! Like the Egyptians, they developed calendars and mapped constellations. They aligned certain stars with the earth and made constructions in this regards. This video mentioned their understanding of the electrons that are around the nucleus! Wow! That does correlate to the solar system as well, and in how certain stars and double stars revolve around each other. They mention the spindle and how the fertilized egg's membrane becomes hardened with it is fertilized, and that is my territory as I have a degree in Biology, so this is so fascinating to hear! They correlate biology to outer space, and I have been studying this concept for some years now. Love this!
  13. THE SOLAR ECLIPSE OF APRIL 20, 2023 I think this is interesting in that around this very time of the eclipse there were some earthquakes to occur and while, I don't believe that all eclipses causes earthquakes to occur, however, I do believe that based on their proximity to earth, at times, this kind of phenomenon does occur. I remember back in 2010 particular scientiist announced a planetary alignment with the planets Jupiter, Saturn, and etc. and they predicted that as a result, an earthqauke would occur in the region in Australia. I did not believe it at the time. However, whether it is believed to be a coincidence or not, their predictions did come to past as a major earthquake did occur in Christchurch, New Zealand which is what they did say. And this recent event of the solar eclispe being from the vantage point of Australia and below the equator initially before traveling upwards makes me remember what happened in the past. Ever since that Hybrid Solar Eclipse has occurred on April 20, 2023, + or - two days, there have been some significant earthquakes and volcano activity that has been occurring especially below the equator. Magnitude 7.1 earthquake 624 miles from Auckland, New Zealand · Apr 23, 8:41 PM
  14. The video I posted has been deleted so, I am posting another brief video about this show. There is a longer version of this interview as well. I thought this comment was interesting. I am divided a little though about this subject but still do not know how to frame my words completely about how I feel completely. Sometimes, I wonder if Affirmative Action was given to 'handpicked' Blacks to fill a quota. Sometimes I wonder if it was given out to certain Blacks that did not use this to benefit the Black communities. And sometimes I wonder if it was given out to certain Blacks that were handpicked because the 'powers that be' expected them to fail and then, in turn, use this outcome to suggest that it was wrong to offer Affirmative Action to Blacks in the first place. At any rate, I came across this brief video and thought it was interesting. Recently, I have been listening to Amy Chen and have posted some of her content and again, I think she has made an interesting point:
  15. I overlooked this post @Troy. I am not in San Diego presently. It was my alma mater state many years ago.
  16. No, you are probably not the only one @Pioneer1. As you once posted at one point this was a suggestion of @Troy. However, I think that it is NOT important to engage with racist, but at times, it may be important to DEBUNK certain misconceptions that have been put throughout the Black community. Racist ideology no matter how incorrect, has been put throughout this world from time to time and I believe that if Black people do not address certain issues at times, it can be detrimental to humanity as a whole.
  17. Black Couples & Conflict Resolution I think that some of these skits on social media can be more helpful then spending a lot of money going to a therapist sometimes. Due to technology and this type of media explosion, some of these skits published by talented Black people seems to me to be common issues that many of us have had to deal with in our cultures. This first skit reminds me of my own relationship with my boyfriend many years ago, and of whom is now my husband. He threw every trick in the book to try and not commit and this skit just cracks me up and reminds me of this time. I refused to move in to his apartment. I gathered up my things and left... Uhh, then he decided to commit. The second #Short clip was just funny and so I thought it would be cool to share. I DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP How to END an Argument Respectfully
  18. I hear a lot about China's activity in Africa and how many Africans do not like it. But as for me, I don't feel that I know enough to have an opinion as to whether it is good or bad. Historically, I think China was a major force on how humanity has shaped though and I think this continues to have a bearing on humanity today. I do think that their government alarms the western world and keeps them on their toes, so-to-speak, and that may be good when it comes to how intimidating the western world has been towards [against] people of AFrican descent. I also think that there is a lot of ancient history about China and Africa with regards to government relations that we don't know about and it would be good to know. For example, I saw a documentary about proof that the ancient Chinese were over here in ancient America AT A TIME WHEN AN AFRICAN PRESENCE was also a part of the Chinese gene makeup! Yes I did! Today, many foreign people and White people go to California somewhere near San Francisco on tours to see an ancient remnant of THE GREAT WALL built by ancient Chinese that dates back to the 1500s B.C. I am not kidding!!! The archittecture directly matches the HU-SIUNG NU [Huns; meaning Negroes] in northern China architecture when the Great Walls were being built. It the same type of structure and material. And this GREAT WALL is also in Bahai California too. So, I think Black people should know more about why China is being a big topic of discussion when it comes to dealing with AFrica.
  19. @ProfD WHO ARE YOU!? Man, sometimes when i read your comments, it just blows me away. I love you! I love you! I love you! ... You are obviouly some kind of retired PhD professor or something. WHEW! Thank you! And @Pioneer1 be dropping some good words too and he debunks a lot of BS too.
  20. @Pioneer1 I finally got a chance to listen to the last few minutes of the video that you marked and yes, I think most Black people are aware of light skinned privilege. It was a great video to listen to and I think that this topic should be addressed. My opinion is that as long as Black people are stuck under White oppression and racism too, light skinned privilege will also remain as a constant. This government needs to be overhauled. It is not the fault of light skinned Black people that this situation is a norm and this is the very position that many White people take as well, but because White Supremacy was allowed to set up, this kind of predicament will remain in this American government. I loved the statement made from the man too, in how when he was present he heard 'unguarded conversations'! His blackness is not easily recognizable unless you hear him talk. So it's obvious that he has caused many White people to think that he is White when it is obvious to me that he is not at all. LOL.
  21. I agree. Again, I need to know the origin of this speech and who that man is before I can really accept that, as you say, it is not staged.
  22. Absolutely agree @Troy! The above comment is case in point! What has happened to Black people in America is insane. Racist people keep putting out false ratios for their uneducted sector to believe even though it is obvious that it can't be truth.
