I did a search on the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Hurston and didn't find anything here. I haven't read it yet but I'm hoping over the holidays I'll have some time to start. Ms. Hurston was a black writer living in Florida during the 1930s. This is supposed to be her best known and most controversial work, according to Amazon. It takes places in a black Florida town. She was accused of pandering to white readers by using black dialogue. The book was out of print for thirty years but was re-printed beginning in 1978. Has anyone read this who could comment on it?

One of the big differences with black literature is very little black literature made before the 1900s or even before 1950s has been made into movies.
