  1. Beautifully stated! :chef’s kiss: I would add gender is fluid too. Sex as identifier is quite complicated. I was assigned female at birth - but didn’t learn I had all the working parts until way after puberty - actually when I gave birth. But what about babies assigned male or female at birth but have nothing to go with their penis or vagina? What about alleged females that have XY chromosome - and gonads. They are NOT hermaphrodites. They present as female but they really are neither sex. They have a different assignment of chromosomes. YY is the only assignment spontaneously aborted. Check out Swyer Syndrome - it reveals sex chromosomes don’t care about our politics or religious beliefs. The Human species is far more complex than our tiny minds can begin to understand.

  4. I've met a Lacks heir. Their family could definitely use the money. Ben Mumble Crump is definitely getting paid since he's become the face of these high profile cases. To Troy and Mel's point, there is always a team of attorneys behind the scenes. Somebody has to do the work while Benny Mum-ra is on every cable news show. 😁😎

LOL I'm #UnionStrong and this is where they got me in the crosshairs of this vaccine mandate debate. I'm actually a bit angry with the SWAPA (Southwest Airline Pilots Association) because they started grieving their CBA (collective bargaining agreement) when their contract lapsed at the end of August. They lost a lot of workhours due to COVID so then the grievance was about changes to work rules and scheduling. Now management includes jab or lose job to the equation [EDIT] and pilots changed the focus of the grievance. I guess it’s a tactic to garner public support by entering into the political debate. The thing is, it’s disingenuous and might weaken arbitration. [End Edit] Anyway, I stand with the pilots, I just can’t stand legerdemain for any reason. The pilots have a strong case. Especially since the FAA hasn't made any changes to the airmen medical certificate for pilots or ATC (air traffic controller) specialists. So technically they're not required to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
  6. @Troy ,I laugh whenever someone says "Ben Crump" and "Paid" in the same sentence. They only notice him but never see the battery of attorneys who are co-counsel on these cases. I'm guilty of this too. He is the face of civil rights INjustice. This time I paid attention to whose name is the attorney of record. According to the lawsuit, Kim D. Parker is the first name listed. Christopher Seeger is also a co-counsel.
  7. Ben Crump is getting paid huh? I saw him, here in Tulsa, during the centennial commemoration for the Race Massacre. The Lacks family, in my opinion, deserves compensation based upon the limited information I have. I don't know who is gonna pay a quarter of a trillion dollars, but hey if they pay 1%. That will probably be fair... I think. I'm sure Crump and his team of attorneys will be happy with a multi-billion dollar settlement.
  8. Agreed. This has less to do about helping gay people "see themselves" reflected in comic books and more to do with increasing notoriety through controversy, a common tactic today. Again, the media laps this stuff up, on cue, spins it for al the controversy it is worth to get more traffic, to serve more advertising to us, to get us to buy more shit we don't need. The reality is that it is not Clark Kent who is gay, but his son that has come out. Again, making it seemed as though "Superman" is now gay was done to create more controversy. I only know that beside I heard a more complete story on NPR... My default is to ignore most of this stuff. But if you are online, it is hard to ignore this nonsense as it is virtually force feed to you. As a result I did see an image of Superman's son locking lips with another dude. I don't ever recall seeing lark Kent lock lips with Lois Lane in such a fashion. But again, this is more about generating revenue than serving the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, this whole thing will just exacerbate relationship with the "community" in the same way "critical race theory" has with the Black community.

************************************************************************************ Of course you are protected by the union either way. I was in NAGE for many years, always paid my dues, I know that I got more help with problems by paying those dues. I have been retired since 2004 so I don't know what's going on with that union right now. But back in the day, we would not have stood for any of what is going on today with the forced/mandated vaccines or any of the other B.S. I am glad that I'm not in the workforce, but I am concerned for others. People's rights are being violated all over the place. ************************************************************************************

I'm not in a union but I do fall under a collective bargaining agreement. Leadership (POTUS PJB) is telling us to follow the CDC guidelines and get vaxxed. 😁 i saw a news report where the leader of a huge union smiled and laughed when asked whether or not he would encourage members to get the jab. He said some sh8t that was the equivalent of it's complicated. Several healthcare workers have quit or been fired because they refused to get stuck. IMO, folks have become complacent for several reasons but two are 1) statiated with the illusion of middle class status and 2) they are scared to die. The media does a great job in keeping people dazed and confused most of the time. 😎
  11. As a sports fan (boxing and football), I get to sit back and watch white folks mix it up over their constitutional rights (1st & 2nd amendment), pandemic fallout (masks & vax), insurrection and racism (CRT). Not since the Civil War has white America been so clearly divided over issue(s). The media does a great job of stirring the pot. They have dispatched cameras everywhere to document it. I don't know what the outcome will be but I think we'll soon find out what's really most important to white folks. Of course, I have some ideas. 😎

Mzuri, I hate to break this news but unfortunately, unions have been corrupted by politics too. Unions collect dues from its members to take care of them supposedly. But, those same unions are also courted by special interest groups to get their members to conform to certain things too. Unions will not buck mask mandates or vax requirements because it would be bad for business i.e. their bottom line. They are encouraging members to follow the rules. I don't know what the end game is regarding this pandemic but I'm watching their hands and following the money. I'm still amazed that they have politiczed and monetized a virus but to date there is no cure for cancer. 🤨 Oh, that's right, there is no money in the cure. But, there's a whole economy built on cancer research and treatment.😎

************************************************************************************ That has been done already, it's called unionization. For some reason, we aren't hearing from the labor unions on all of this. The mandated vaccinations, the option to work from home, masks in the workplace - all of these issues should be addressed by unions. I have a feeling that people don't understand the importance of being in a union and don't think it's worth paying union dues. Having been a union member throughout my career, I know for a fact that the benefits far outweigh the costs. If there was more union involvement right now, some of the nonsense that employers are doing wouldn't be happening. ************************************************************************************
  14. Nothing. That's why Democrats have historically taken advantage of the black vote. They talk a good game but it's mostly smoke and mirrors. Black folks need to codify an agenda in all areas of human actiivity and have the ability to provide oversight to insure that it happens. There's a reason that other folks have multiple organizations and special interest groups to secure their needs and wants. Black folks need more ore than NAACP, CBC, BIG, UNCF, BLM, etc. Most of those are fronts anyway. They are the organizational equivalent of a Sit and Spin: The words could be updated to articulate the black agenda once it's codified. 😁😎

I don't blame them at all for leaving....I think more should. I'm a little disappointed more people haven't just given up on this society. It there's any justification for why we need a "Welfare State" it's this current Pandemic crisis where it's dangerous for most people to go back to work and they SHOULD be paid to stay home. But few people are talking about that right now. Too many people are "satisfied" and content with barely scraping by, leaving on pennies, hustling and scrapping like an animal, and living on people's couches. They've been doing it for so long...hustling like an animal is all they know. If poor and destitute people stuck together and refused to work unless conditions were safe and paid much more, they would have no choice but to give the people what they demand. But too many are willing to work for scraps to feed their little drug and alcohol addictions
  16. Bro, title should be Superman. Spidey hasn't come out yet AFAIK.😁😎

These numbers represent “essential workers,” those directly on the frontline. Can we blame them for leaving? Check out Federal Reserves “Beige Book” to read where other shortages are popping up. After catering to Wall Street since the 70s things about to get really nasty.
  18. "She" doesn't want to say good-by to "her". Give 'em a break, Dave.
  19. Nope. The song isn't offensive to me. The Rolling Bones have been playing that song for 50 years. Makes no sense to cancel it now. Original drummer Charlie Watts just died a couple months ago at 80 years old. Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood aren't too far behind him. Victory lap. 😎
  20. Your willful ignorance aka not a river in Kemit keeps growing.
  21. Cynique, they can argue until their faces turn UV but the birth certificate doesn't lie. A bat and balls is a male and a pocketbook is a female. In the case of a hermaphrodite, I believe the birth certificate says TBD at a later date.😁 Now, however an individual chooses to identify, dress and/or use their plumbing equipment is an entirely different matter. That's free will. The brokenhearted lover sang that song. I could hear the Soul coming from the diaphragm. The gold tooth probably added some stank too. 😁😎
  22. One thing I WOULD say about the Blaxploitation films as stereotypical as they were... Atleast the Black man was the HERO in those movies, unlike most of the movies of today. They may have been low budget but the Black men always won at the end, kicking the ass and getting the women. They even uncovered some racist plots that were going on in the movies. Except for Get Out (I'm still surprised they let that movie come out) you rarely see that in a script in todays time I still remember Three The Hard Way and the cop scene with the martial arts...lol. Shaft, Superfly, And we can't forget my man DOLEMITE.......... "Who get's the last laugh NOW....muthafuka!" Starting in the 80s, Black men started increasing their roles as just plain criminals, clowns, and buffoons. Con artists, car thieves, and then it elevated to drug dealers and kingpins like New Jack City. Spike Lee did his best to TRY to turn some of that around but the power of Hollyweird was just too strong. Like the OJays...Hollyweird had their hooks in some of these brothers to the point they went stone damn crazy! Remember when Martin Lawrence was seen running down the street in only his drawers with a gun in his hand yelling "fight the power" Mzuri It doesn’t take long to mess up your whole reputation. W.S. shouldn’t have taken that role, plus he made an ooogly ass woman. You know I actually haven't even seen the movie. Just a trailer or two or maybe a poster of it. I couldn't bring myself to watch my man in that role.
  23. Flip Wilson jumped the shark back in the 1970s with his :Geraldine" character. Blaxploitation films didn't show black men as positive role models either. The players have changed and the envelope has been pushed even further in the name of creative freedom. Every negative image and stereotype is on the table. There is zero incentive to show positive, strong black men on TV or the big screen. That would stir up white folks' biggest fears. As a result, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniel and Lena Waithe get consulted and funded to show safe black men in their movies and TV shows. 😎
  24. https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/11/entertainment/superman-comes-out-bisexual-jon-kent-cec/index.html They done added silly putty to the man of steel and normalizing the alphabet soup community to future generations of comic book readers. 🤨😎
  25. This is one of the reasons I have so much respect for Dave Chappelle. The man walked away from $50 million at what was at that time the height of his career....because they asked him to put on a dress. He has dignity and self-respect. I don't agree with everything he says and does because he became famous playing a powder lipped crack head and other silly stereotypes....but he stood by HIS principles and didn't sell out. That's the part I respect. I'll tell you who I WAS disappointed in though Wesley Snipes I didn't think he'd ever put on a dress but he did it for some Two Wong Fu movie for a hot second and I thought it was so disappointing. Snipes was my man. I don't think he did it again afterwards but, still.....

Apparently, we weren't the only ones who had enough! A record number of Americans are quitting their jobs New York (CNN Business)A record 4.3 million people quit their jobs in August, evidence of the considerable leverage workers have in today's economy. About 2.9% of the workforce quit in August, up from 2.7% in July, according to the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) report, released Tuesday. That marks the highest quit rate since the report began in late 2000. The number of workers who quit rose by 242,000 from July as more Americans demanded higher pay, better working conditions and more flexible arrangements. Those number of people who quit rose in accommodation and food services, wholesale trade and state and local government education. "If you're unhappy with your job or want a raise, in the current environment it's pretty easy to find a new one," said Gus Faucher, chief economist at PNC. "We're seeing people vote with their feet." Companies continue to grapple with a serious worker shortage. Job openings remained very high at the end of August at 10.4 million, the JOLTS report showed. However, that marks a decline of 659,000 from the end of July. Another disappointment: US economy adds only 194,000 jobs in September The numbers show the worker shortage was even worse than realized this summer. The number of job openings in July was revised higher to 11.1 million, a record high since this report began in 2000. 'Golden age' for workers Joe Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM, said this may be witnessing the start of what might eventually be considered the "golden age for the American worker." "The American worker is now confident that he or she has the bargaining power and can obtain a reasonable wage -- and have influence over the shape of working conditions," Brusuelas said. That bargaining power comes from their willingness to quit jobs they don't like and look for new ones. And this shift is not merely centered on simple economics -- but a broader reassessment around quality of life and purpose. "This is what happens after great wars or depressions," Brusuelas said. "It's hard to spot while you're in it, but we've gone through a shock that has elicited an unexpected change upon the population. And it will take some time to sort through." All of this helps explain why employers, including factories, trucking companies, restaurants, construction firms and schools, are having trouble finding workers. These people quit their jobs during the pandemic. Here's what they're doing now In the long run, such a workforce transformation will be a positive thing, allowing more people to find satisfaction in their careers and for businesses to have happier employees. And it can allow more workers to make a living wage and contribute to the broader economy, easing the alarming gap between rich and poor. In the short run, however, the worker shortage will continue to complicate the reopening of the global economy, contributing to rising prices, supply chain stress, product shortages and shipping delays. "It takes some for these things to work themselves out," said PNC's Faucher. JOLTS job openings report: A record number of Americans are quitting their jobs - CNN
  27. Mzuri It seems to me that even when people are arrested, oftentimes they are set free anyway. Especially in places like NYC. Yeah. Especially when they are violent and mentally disturbed and the cops want to put them out on the street to commit a violent act to JUSTIFY themselves. Isn't it interesting that most of the well publicized violent incidents that took place in New York earlier this year almost all involved a homeless Black person with mental problems who was previously arrested but for some reason was let back out on the street? That one dude who beat up the Asian woman infront of a building had allegedly stabbed his own mother to death a few years back. But he get's out and is allowed to roam the streets?????
  28. One is physical , the other is mental. Sex has to do with your genitals; gender has to do with your masculine or feminine orientation.
  29. It is called hacking a post 😉 It would be better in a separate thread and would be more easily discoverable by others interested in the subject. Thanks for posting something related to the post. 🙂 yeah Facebook is heavy handed unless you pay them, then they will pretty much let you say anything to other people…

************************************************************************************ @Cynique and @Mel Hopkins I have had some glitchy experiences as well. On my iPhone, there are ads that have to be turned off before I can proceed. I think it's the same thing that Mel described. And on my desktop, sometimes when I click on a topic, the page is fogged over and the web address turns to something about google, but it doesn't happen that often. I also don't see the point in displaying ads for things like tractors. Troy was asking why there isn't more participation and I wonder if the ads are having an impact, since some people don't like ads at all. You Ladies should probably contact him directly since he might not read all these comments. ************************************************************************************

Really!? @Mzuri @Pioneer1 Based on what I've been reading, I believe you. Eventually, and after so many have died of Covid after even getting vaccinated, I guess they had to admit to some degree that the vaccine was not as full proof as they had us believe. So true, but depressing. My feelings exactly. It's so hard to know what to do. @Mel Hopkins
