  1. Yeah, I was kinda wondering....or maybe not....why they had to put that out there also, lol. If they ain't got a Black man wearing a dress....they got him crying and slobbering. .....especially on CNN.. CNN is an acronym for the: Crying Nigga Network
  2. Awe... @Mel Hopkins and @Troy you're adorbs. I won't dare show my oldie but goodie - I was all forehead and shiny fa-real, and had the nerve to have a toothpick in my mouth, an afro pick in my hair (in several pics) and wore my platform shoes til the heal came off! A legit tom-boy who went to a Catholic Grade School, and graduated with honors throughout all of my formal education years. ahh, the good old days. What's changed from then to now, well, I wear my hair natural, I still have a lot of tom-boy in me, but much more graceful, I have a laptop, a bike...and livin the dream (an artist, an author, but still an 8-5). Hey, it's hard out here for a pimp, but I'm loving the journey! @Mel Hopkins Tru dat!
  3. Here is a list of more than 200 book festivals and fairs from around the world. Thes are not just the Black events, virtually all of them feature Black writers. I included all the ones I could find 🙂 Of the 18 depicted in the graphic below I've attended 8 of them. I always wanted to go to Calabash, which is held in Jamaica. I'm going to the Go On Girl! Book Club event in two weeks. I need go through the entire list an see how many events I've attended
  4. I purchased $500 in Bitcoin and $500 in Ethereum back in 2021 I believe (after the peak). I knew full well going in that I could lose all of my money, but again it was a learning exercise, as I was also interested in NFTs. I'm ALWAYS wary of schemes where people say you can get rich by doing literally nothing, or maybe buying a jpeg. I'm even more skeptical of people who charge you a great deal of money to tell you how, if you do what they did, you get rich too. Most people would simply continue doing the thing that got them rich rather than taking the time to show you how. The only time that happens is when the thing they are showing you is no longer working for them -- assuming it ever did. I hold my own crypto, so losing it in an exchange is not possible -- thought I could lose my keys. At any rate I should find out the value of my coin, maybe I will cash out. I can’t really afford to have a few hundred bucks doing nothing...
  5. I shared https://www.tumblr.com/richardmurrayhumblr/719045703705493504/list-of-important-book-fairs-festivals-and?source=share
  6. While I'm happy for the newlyweds, they didn't have to put Jonathan on blast out there crying and sh8t.🤣 That dude is a grown azz Black man and a professional athlete. There's no reason to provide visual proof of his moment of vulnerability...joy and happiness.😁😎
  7. It has already been confirmed that after one dies, someone else either gets the stuff they left behind and/or throws it in the trash. Also, any money leftover gets spent foolishly too.🤣😎
  8. @Troy @Pioneer1 @Delano I'm sighing, eye-rolling, and a little bit cussing. When it comes to ANYBODY acknowledging & commenting about me reading a book in public....REALLY? Are we, you seeking confirmation from our white counterpart for some reason, yet sitting in judgment about our own for not recognizing your intellect? I'm pretty intelligent, but I assure you that, not only would I not acknowledge that you're reading, why, because I would already assume that you read because that's what you like to do, but I also don't like talking to people...haha (unless I want to). What does it say about someone like me who wants to ride the train in peace with my random thoughts? Bruh, don't counter-comment about what AfroAmericans are not doing to what whites are doing (unless its a legit and confirmed fact), please. Love you, mean it! 🙂 I do agree with @Pioneer1 statement; however.
  9. @Stefan fair enough @Pioneer1 Well, I have to first say, I opposed getting involved in the cryptos and didn't like what I knew in terms of financial stability or long term financial quality, and I spoke against getting involved with crypto to others. But having said that I want to defend those who involved themselves in the crypto. I remember three articles: 1) one where a white guy in his 20s living downtown manhattan boasted of being a crypto millionaire. He was highlighted in the new york times. 2) another white guy admitted he put millions of dollars, his life savings into crypto, he is trying to suit to get it back but the case isn't in his favor. 3) the ftx wall street journal advertisement where a side of a page was bought. My point, lower rich whites was the fuel to this thing. Many of them lost money in it, but they fueled it, and those who got in early and sold before the fall made millions of dollars. Like the gold rush or oil rush, most lose money in these get rich quick schemes historically. But a minority always get lucky and are the stories people remember. ame with crypto. Yes, I advised against it. but I do comprehend why people were suckered in. Those who were purely lucky enough to gamble right in their timing made a lot of money.
  10. The debt ceiling has been raised 68 times and counting. The US keeps modifying how much money it can print and/or afford to pay back. The whole debt ceiling thing is a silly exercise because whichever countries the US owes money will never call in the markers. The world economy is dependent on America in one way or another. That's how America can send $80 billion to Ukraine for a war they cannot win but the government want to cut benefits to American citizens. 😎
  11. @Pioneer1 Well... my military assessment is different from yours. In my view, the problem with italy is christianity, religious race, not phenotypical race. First, Constantine whose letters, are in latin but can be rough translated, clearly states that christians are a menace in the roman empire and was part of why he moved the capitol of the roman empire to Nova Roma, outsiders called constantinople, now called Istanbul. Christianity post Jesus as a religion breeds violent multivisions, more than divisions, historically. And that is the core to italy's problem militaristically. Remember, the Crusades while advertised as about christianity versus islam, functionally, christians harmed christians more during the crusades, i think five of them, than any muslim group. Justinian, a roman emperor took over the italian peninsula again, but eventually the italian peninsula was lost as the roman empire was absorbed by the series of caliphates of the muslims. And that is why italy was impotent militaristically. Italy + Portugal+ Spain had to deal with centuries of two continuous raiders. Whites, with no black in them continually raiding or pillaging or crusading from the north while a multiracial empire was in the south, first the continuation of the roman empire capitoled at nova roma and then the muslim caliphates until the latter of the ottomans. They were squeezed and were the bastion of catholic christianity , whereas the south was muslim and the north was anti catholic, remember, even before martin luther, you had the knights templar of the crusades who while unsuccessful in conquering muslims, freed themselves from the european regals or the catholic church, which is why friday the 13th happened.
  12. I've been telling folks for over 10 years now......the entire "crypto currency" thing is a SCAM. Just a big money making game White boys sat on their ass and conjured up to make THEM more money and get people of color in trouble. It's biggest selling point was that it was "internet based" and couldn't be traced by the government and you could make all the money you wanted without having to pay taxes. Anybody with GOOD SENSE could listen to that and see the holes in it a mile away. Now look at all of the legal issues surrounding crypto currency and it's handling. Just like the internet. It was initially billed as a center of "free speech" and alternative to other forms of media because you supposedly could express yourself freely however you wanted to. Now look how many people have gotten in trouble and are sitting in jail right now because of crimes involving the internet. So another Black person has gotten in trouble fucking with that crypto-mess. What else is new? Anything to avoid the OLD FASHIONED way of making money and establishing wealth: Buying some land and DEVELOPING it.
  13. @ireneearoyo welcome to the forums. Can can believe 8% of Floridians are former New Yorkers. However, I don't believe " Thirty-nine percent of Empire Staters packed up and moved to the Sunshine State, more than any year in history." I think that may have been misworded. Maybe 39% of the people who left the NY state went to Florida -- not 39% of the state.
  14. Yeah NYC can be rough for the poor, handicapped, elderly... It really is a great city for the wealthy and those with high incomes. The debate was between the state of Florida and the State of New York. Deblasio (former Mayor of NYC) focused on NYC and did not make a strong argument for the entire state of NY. Even with our nutty governor Florida is a much easier place to live. I did not know that Florida's 4th grade students out perform New York's. The NY state's tax rate is significant and FL does even levy a state tax. It is not just were retires move. I moved to FL in my late 20s @Delano I moved back to NYC to join you at Stern 😉
  15. Florida has a lot of retirees from New York New Jersey and Conneticut. New York City is not appealing as a retirement destination. Even in my 20's I both wondered and admired the elderly I saw walking around NYC. At that time I thought to myself I wouldn't want to be old in New York.
