  1. And I would add “Editing.” I can write and a lot. It’s the editing that gets me all twisted. It took me practically no time to write my first novel but nearly 10 years to edit it and THEN hand it over to my editor.

I totally agree with this statement and is the reason I "trophied" your post. We ARE indeed the reason for America's success and the number one reason why the United States tends to be the social and entertainment capital of the planet!   4. This statement overlooks my initial expression of optimism, versus happiness - " my optimism regarding the inclusion of Black writers, producers, directors, etc. is palpable." I am optimistic that the Black producers, directors and writers who DO subscribe to the notion that awards (Grammy, Oscars, etc.) are markers of success will use this REACTIVE strategy as a catalyst.   7. I am reading Black Imagination by Natasha Marin. She asked people 3 questions 1. What is your origin story? 2. How do you heal yourself? 3. Describe/Imagine a world where you are loved, safe, and valued. These were questions given to Black people, inclusive of everyone, everywhere. It's amazing how some could imagine and others could not. Says loud of this country.
