  1. I think you can substitute science and people do the sane thing. I think context is important. Otherwise you can misinterpret what is said and not be aware of your error.
  2. The chapter on Egypt is already interesting. " Living as we do at a time when science fixes so many things, one might insist that it can grant us an unbiased reflection of the past. The trouble is science nurtures its own biases. This is nor an indictment of science, just a recognition of its human origin and consequent fallibility.
  3. We propose further that what is left behind is more the result of subjective choice than reasoned analysis. Science does not systematically disprove occult theses; as a general rule, it freely elects not to consider them.
  4. I wouldn't mind reading about Bozo's extracurricular activities.
  5. Troy what about that cafe reminded you of Starbucks
  6. Alice Walker and Tracie Chsoman also had a café in Fort Greene.
  7. Troy you may find this surprising but I disagree with you. I worked with a white guy who is in his 20's and he loves Public Enemy and is up on Mos Def. Public Enemy toured Europe. On the flip side people here seem to like the fact that Selena Gomez sings and keeps her clothes on while doing so. I think Millie Jackson said it best. When she went to people's house she would see classical records in their living room but her records were in the bed room. Lowest common denominator sells. Which is why book stores are closing and iTunes is a major seller of music. At the moment there is still some hip hop with intelligence it just doesn't get a lot if airplay because the public doesn't want to hear it. A few years back I heard a track called beef and broccoli, and nu jack exterminator. Which were both intelligent and well crafted.
  8. Troy I think the current media is pandering to the lowest denominator.
  9. Cynique I think you ate on the money. Troy the genre us called Black Exploitation. That says it all. Perhaps it is a difference if degree
  10. It's similar to the controversy around the Superfly movie. Dime say it glorified drug dealing, some say it is a story about redemption I think it is both depending on your perspective.
  11. Scientific facts are useful. What is the point of life. Audible math, I like the sound of it. I am reading a book. Science, Religion and Myth and the shaping of Western Thought
  12. Mathematics may be more if a symbolic language. That defines relationship. Interestingly enough some if the set theory people question whether math is s science.
  13. Actually some mathematicians thinks math is created much like art and is basically a fiction of the mind. You can search the philosophy of mathematics, embodied mind theory etc. As for a s music you listing descriptors not expression. I am defining expression as essence. Music to me is an exprssion of a concept, thought or feeling. I am bot certain how those three items are different.
  14. Yes it is called mathematics. Mist fields are belief systems. I guess for me I wouldn't put cultural mores in the same field as scientific opinion. Actually that is not consistent with what I said earlier.

In your response you said most people would agree so you could consider it universally true. This statement doesn't make sense. It's I'd like saying it id mostly universally true, or that's absolutely true most of the time. You could say I am being overly critical or you can tell me what dictionary you are using.

  17. Pioneer - I found out last week. Although I am not sure. My Astrology teacher says I am a psychic, and my light worker friends says I am a clairvoyant.

Can you ask me a simple question like maybe a sentence or two instead of two paragraphs.
  21. Delano replied to Delano's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Universal in my opinion is absolute.

Take one point and I will attempt to ex So you explain it. I will ask you a question again is set theory a subset of Logic?

This was my reply. Veteran Member Members 364 posts 0 warning points Posted 22 May 2013 - 06:47 AM Troy You said philosophy and science are mutually exclusive. i mentioned logic, which is both an element in science and philosophy. You have conveniently forgotten to answer that question. O had to look through two of my statistics books and two of Adtrological Research books, both of which use stastical analysis. What you have in your example is a binomial distribution. If you got those results. You would assume it wasn't a fair coin. While that wouldn't tell you anything about the population it would tell you something about that particular coin. I could tell you why your statement isn't valid but the fundamental errors show a lack if understanding about statistics and statistical analysis. Normally we disagree and I'll debate the point, but not in this instance. What you are talking about here is am F test or F Distribution. In fact you could have ad fee as 100 coin tosses. So you would be wrong I could do this experiment with two people flipping a coin 100 times. Like This Quote MultiQuote Delete Edit Report
