  1. It's am anonymous poll. Apparently he has been paying off the girls. There's a lawyer in Chicago that handles the case. R. Kelly needs help but so do yhe parents who let there parents hang with a grown man. Our society has a skewed values. When parents are pimping their kids.
  2. After hearing more of Kanye's TMZ interview I have to say...... That nicca'z crazy as hell! Just watch this for yourself: I think he's on something.
  3. The Israeli military said 20 rockets were fired at its positions in the occupied Golan Heights overnight. It responded by launching what a spokesman called "one of the broadest aerial operations in recent years". There was no immediate comment from Iran, whose deployment of troops to Syria to back the government in the country's civil war has alarmed Israel. Iran has repeatedly called for an end to the existence of the Jewish state. Israel's military had been anticipating an attack by Iranian forces after reportedly carrying out a number of strikes on their facilities in Syria in recent months. They included one on an airbase in April that killed seven Iranian troops.
  4. Yes, this is a very old aphorism. I've read one about fishing poles to fisherwomen/men. But do we still find value in tools today? Also, do you think wealthy people are “careful”? Let's unpack this sage advice using the top 25 wealthiest people in the world. (1) Jeff Bezos–sells tools, provides a virtual and real location for tools and storage for information. (2) Bill Gates – makes and sells tools (3) Warren Buffet buys companies that sell tools, transportation and shelter & tools protection (4) Bernard Arnault sells luxury tools and goods (5) Mark Zuckerberg’s product is people and sells their attention Mark Zuckerberg provides the tools, but his company, Facebook’s product is people and he sells their attention. Allegedly, he doesn't even sell personal information, he sells access to those who’d like to get in front of specific eyes. In this case, is attention the shovel/fishing pole? I'm not sure. Also, MZ allows those who want access to determine the value of those eyes. Although this tends to be my blind spot, most of these people on the list "sell shovels/fishing poles", some sell "fish” but there are a few gold-miners /fisherwomen/men here too. But all those businesses have one thing in common – they earn and require currency. Now bitcoin is cryptocurrency, and its value is in the exchange. I don’t know if the goal is to get rich quick from using bitcoin but rather allowing those who use it, determine its value. It’s practically an egalitarian currency that’s in use nearly worldwide. So, I guess the key to predict who will profit from the proverbial gold rush is the one provides the platform for trading. Currently, heavily regulated financial institutions are the ones who profit. But now we have the Winklevoss Twins who were awarded a patent for ETP (exchange-traded products (ETPs) using cryptocurrencies) –(See Vanguard ETF) Then on a smaller scale we have Anari Sengbe's website OWO where gaming and purchasing products at a discount using cryptocurrency gives the platform its value. We still have bitcoin miners (With Bitcoin, miners use special software to solve math problems and are issued a certain number of bitcoins in exchange) AND cryptocurrency platforms just might be the new “shovels or fishing poles" in this digital economy. Edit: to change but to AND. According to Anari Sengbe in this talk, the internet of things (IoT) allows the devices to mine bitcoins for others and earn a fee for the transaction. In short your refrigerator, thermostat or any device in your home can become a virtual "Check Cashing Place" except its mining bitcoins or any other cryptocurrencies. I don't think the Black community can afford to be ignorant of cryptocurrencies. We're already 10 years behind.
  5. "Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number," the 1994 debut from R&B singer Aaliyah, was co-produced by Kelly ... a track he had written for her. Kelly was 27, Aaliyah was 15. In a 1994 interview she called him her “best friend in the whole wide world”, and in August year they were married at a Chicago suburb Sheraton with a forged marriage certificate falsely stating Aaliyah was 18. Divorce proceedings began two days later when her family learned of the wedding. The marriage was annulled by fall. Aaliyah received $100 from Kelly as part of a settlement also stating she would not pursue legal action and neither would publicly discuss the matter (Kelly has long denied the pair had a sexual relationship). The song went platinum. Aaliyah was died eight years later. I'm a jazz and blues kind of guy, even in those music genre's underage female sensitivities come forth. Nothing new, and probably harmless in the sense of 'redeeming values,' so to speak. In Kelly's case the marriage, with or without PAPER, is acceptable; and his music pose no dangers. It does, however, go right to the idea of parent rearing children, like the brother alluded to. Again, these are the times we live in, and everyone's justifying their part. For us males, sexual indulgence has always been a selective process when it is convenient for us, even before the turn of the 11th century. To place a time on the demonization of the sex issue is quite mis-placed. At a time when an 80-year Bill Cosby is facing a prison sentence (involving adult women) that may never see him a man free again, this discussion is appropriate.
  6. Stephanie Baskek wrote, 05/04/2018: "When there’s a gold rush on, the thing to do is not to dig. Instead, sell shovels to all the suckers who think they’ll get rich digging for gold. This is one of the lessons that investigative reporter Corey Pein learned when he moved to San Francisco at the height of the Silicon Valley start-up boom. In his analogy, the gold rush is the tech boom, and the suckers are all the start-up wannabes who flock to the Bay Area for a slice of the venture-capital pie. And all of us, the consumers, who fell for the excitement of the gig economy and the lure of a free social network that promised to never sell our data? We’re suckers, too." Cryptocurrencies are the modern-day 'Gold Rush,' this could be gold mine for Blacks with a few dollars to invest, but leveraging the benefits is going to take some 'creative' financial/economic smarts. CAREFUL!
  7. Having an underage harem is standard ops?
  8. I read the article. Again it still seems like a lot of accusations. Of course where there is smoke there is usually a fire. But it sounds like like a guy who was abused himself that needs help too. I'm not about to rob the brother of his livelihood because he married Aaliyah when she was 15 or allegedly urinated on some girl. There are more important things to worry about. The argument that R Kelly gets away with it because the victims are Black is bullshit, white women are victimized everyday of the week by white men who get away with it -- some of them with the support of the church! Should look at all the dudes in NAMBLA, the Catholic Church, Penn States campus, etc R; Kelly is nothing in comparison... Indeed R. Kelly is highlighted ONLY because he is a celebrity, there are plenty of Brothers doing similar things with teenage girls.

  10. @Troy Special Sales! Before Academic Marketing and Sales at Penguin USA - I worked in Special Sales G.P. Putnam's Sons... As a Special Sales Assistant, it was my job to do most of the customer service work for special sales and institutional accounts - such as catalogs, library appearances, specialty accounts and stores such as those that would appear at a yacht club etc. I learned how to sell books in nontraditional ways such as those looking for premium incentive products and of course retail stores that would also sell books on the side... You know, like those psychic tellers - who have spell books for sale .. All this to say, yes, it's a profitable business model for this type of selling... And you already have 2 coveted accounts. I remember Barbara O'Shea, my former boss, got so happy when she would land an account like a large book club - or McDonald's, who wanted to put one of our children's books in every happy meal. G.P Putnam had so many imprints, we had a book for every type of lifestyle. Anyway, she was quoted in the New York Times article talking about her role as President of a non-trade sales at Penguin. (Yes she also started at G.P Putnam's Sons) . This is also an excellent article for an overview on special sales. Oh! does this replace the google tag manager?
  11. Just this morning I was listening to the news and there was a segment in which they discussed the #muterkelly movement. The segment was at least 10 minutes long and they never mentioned what the specific allegations against him are. I think part of the problem is just the fact that this is all rumors and hearsay right now. Ha Kelly been charged or convicted of anything? I mean I've seen comedians make jokes about Kelly urinating on women. I have also heard some rumors about undeer age girls. Is Kelly accused to have sex with prepubester youngers are teenager groupies chasing behind him at concerts? I'm not going to go out my way to research this subject. In the universe of things I care about this is way down on the list. The reality is that I don't have to mute R. Kelly. I have never been to see R. Kelly perform live (I understand he puts on a good show) and I have never purchased any of his music, thought of course I've heard it. He is so popular it is unavoidable. "I believe I could fly" was like the graduation national anthem. So I guess were are on the same side of this issue @Pioneer1 albeit, as usual, for different reasons.
  12. Given the celebrities backing of mute kelly, ava duvernay and others it seems like you might be right @Delano, but that is just how it is covered. If you go by his concert attendance and popularity another story is told. 45 is not exactly wrong when he talks about fake news in the sense that one could get the impression that kelly has been proven guilty of a crime and that the majority of the public is outraged. But this is not the case. Again, I read about this in a newspaper, not on social media so the coverage followed basic rules if journalism.
  13. You may have a hard time convincing others to do that.
  14. I did not do an internet search on R. Kelly. But coincidentally, there was an article in the newspaper yesterday. Apparently all of the criticism against Kelly is hearsay. No convictions. I think before we start trying to destroy the livelihood of others we should have perfect clarity on what they have done.
  15. It might be helpful to explain the problem with R Kelly. In believe there is a video of him urinating on an underage girl? Is this right. If not what specifically did he do that should require us to stop listening to his music? Did he break any laws?
