  2. This is a brief article from Publishers Weekly (PW), which is the largest publishing trade publication in the country, perhaps the world. The article mentions several Black-owned website -- all of which predate AALBC by at least a -- and AALBC is 25 years old! I have been interviewed by PW several times over the years. One has to recognize that PW is the best chronicler of the Black Book World that is still in print. There have been others, who did the job better, like the Quarterly Black Review (QBR) and Black Issues Book Review (BIBR), but these publications did not last very long, have both been out of print for years. We have lost many publications that covered Black Books. The impact on the culture is significant, because the void remains largely unfilled. I try to do my part with AALBC, but it is not nearly enough to make up for what we have lost. PW carries on; I was surprised to learn, recently that PW has been in publication for 150 years. I decided to try to find old article covering Black folks, "Web Black History" was the oldest article I could find. The online archive does not appear to go back more than 25 years. Of the websites cited in the article only one remains active, Black History. I became friendly with the site's owner, Dante Lee, years ago. At the time, he was just a kid really (in his 20s), but he managed several of the largest Black websites and owned many desirable domain names. Unfortunately, Google's search algorithm killed the discoverability of many websites back in 2011 (the graphic below depicts the impact on both blackhistory.com and aalbc.com). AALBC's traffic did not fully recover for another 5 years. The lost growth of AALBC and countless other website is incalculable. Black-owned newspapers were devastated. The article's author, Calvin Reid, has a senior level position with PW today and I will reach out to him to see what I can find older articles on Black in publishing that are older.

Yeah keep us posted about your NFT sales. I recently abandoned an NFT based business idea. Art seems to have the most tracking, but it seems like a fad at this point.
  4. At @ProfD I'm with you in failing to understand why anyone, even Brits -- especially the Black one -- care about the royal family. While @Mzuri provides a case for her specific situation, it does not help me understand the general case, for most people who care about the royals would not have the same things in common. I have yet to meet a heterosexual male that cared about princess diana and the royal family. Has anyone? I don't think the Brits fluoridate their water.
  5. They probably didn't ask Bill anything. Took one look at his face and wheeled him into the executive suite at the hospital. 😁😎
  6. @Mzuri @ProfDI bet they did ask Bill Clinton multiple times when he had sepsis a few days ago.

I feel so alone laying next to you. Waking up to another nightmare where promises weigh me down like a boulder on my neck, it has me praying for the silence that is a companion to death. Words can not describe the dread that sits at my feet, the emptiness that represents my thoughts and drain my energy. Swollen eyes slightly ajar decorate my face which is without Emotion as time has removed the color for remorse to take its place. The disguise I wear takes every bit of me, it’s distorted what remains and blinded me too a fantasy. It is remiss to compare a fairytale to a nightmare as they both are thought imagined yet they both will have us scared. Both have a hero both a villain too, both you’ll awaken yet more often it’s starts a dream till it’s the nightmare that reign true. Wake me up! Please, wake me up…
  8. Right. Because we do know these issues are still happening around the country, we have to give them merit in order to bring equality and justice to all. The humorous side of me still sees some parts of this being incorporated into a comedic skit or movie. 😀😎
  9. That @Mzuriis the essence of the difference in treatment. They treated her like a drug addict and with a greater level of skepticism than if she had been White. I saw a video about a black dr who died because they didn’t take the woman at her word. Everything isn’t about race, however being open to the possibility that it is merits follow. @ProfDI think the fact that she wasn’t trying to make her video a hollywood production lends to the credibility. I would think a talk with some AZ Civil Rights Groups would be in order.
  10. @Mzuri, you're right. As I watched the video, I did consider that she could have been cuckoo for coco puffs.🤪 There aren't too many folks willing to make a video without their dentures and while having diarrhea too. She had a lot going on besides running her mouth.😁 However, a white woman would not have been interrogated the same way *if* she had a fever of 101 or higher leading to sepsis and a 9 day hospital stay. I've seen paramedics transport folks to the hospital without too many questions for less severe issues. 😎
  11. It's funny how two people can look that the same thing and see something different. When I caught a glimpse of the furniture in the Queen's mouth (teeth), I refuse to believe she's never met a dentist she liked. She could have gotten those two rows of corn in her gums fixed a long time ago. Instead, she chose to spend the kingdom's money on other stuff. 😁😎
  12. @daniellegfny I don't make any qualms about being frivolous in my politics. Those who are serious and idealistic about theirs always end up disillusioned, something you with all of your books and store bought wisdom will eventually be. I don't gravitate toward conservative right wing Republicanism. Why? I simply don't like or relate to the people who identify as being of this persuasion. i prefer being on the same side of those with whom i have rapport when it comes to my views on society, keeping in mind that the Democrats and Republicans are the 2 heads of the same capitalistic dragon that is America. For the first 12 years of my life the only president I knew was Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and this is what sealed my loyalties to the Democratic party and over the years through the 15 different presidents and 7 major wars, I learned a thing or two, in spite of your trying to dismiss my authenticity. In my 88 years of living, I have witnessed and experienced history, during which time very little changed when it came to the quality of my life. And it should be noted that i am pragmatic not altruistic. Nor am I a political activist. I am just someone who agitates smug people. You are relying on the words authors have written about events, i am recalling and remembering them. In any case i have chosen the side i want to be on so i won't be turning in to you and Mzuri singing the praises of the Republican party. In that discussion, I mentioned that Hip-Hop was created by black folks. We brought Eminem into the game. In typical fashion, white folks catapulted Eminem into the stratosphere because he is one of their own doing black music. I don't see that as scorn and ridicule. Just facts. The system of racism (white supremacy) which is the power to subjugate other groups of people is way beyond and has proven to be far more destructive than a caste system of colorism and elitism. Colorism and elitism within the system of racism is the equivalent of prisoners throwing shade at each other based on complexion and who has better food, housing and clothing. 😁 Your observations, though interesting, didn't convince me that black people would not be racist if the tables were turned and they were in control.
