  1. This is exactly what I have talking about, Delano. I really like Troy. He writes extremely well and never resorts to personal attacks. And I always hoped that his book selling Website would generate enough advertising dollars to be so viable, he could offer his family the best there is. But I am talking about greedy landlords of multiple apartment properties, not owners of private homes or buildings partially paid by government programs or other financial aid.
  2. If one knows anything about Donald Trump, it’s that he cannot stand Blacks in power positions. He spent eight years attacking President Barack H. Obama as an illegal alien, a Muslim and a failed Chief Executive. Which is a laugh when Obama is widely lauded around the globe as the man who saved the flailing U.S. economy from a Depression. The fact is that Obama is still widely respected around the world while Trump is derided as little more than a would-be dictator. So, I am not surprised that all these investigations are finally getting to Trump. He is understandably nervous. So, what does this twice impeached former President do? He promises that if he gets back to the Oval Office, he’s going to pardon the Jan. 6 insurrectionists. Most observers believe a possible second Trump term will be nothing more than a series of endless revenge attempts against those who dared oppose him. I agree. That’s what phonies do. Lie, deflect and lash out. But at Jan. 28 rally in Texas, Trump also could not resist another attack on Black women, who have always come in for his vilest insults. Trump is now calling three Black female prosecutors “racist” for daring to investigate his alleged crimes. And Trump demands huge protests if these prosecutors make a misstep. Trump attacks Black women prosecutors
  3. I am fairly certain that any Black woman nominated to the Supreme Court is going to need Republican support in the U.S. Senate. Well, I sure hope Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) continues on this path: From CNN: Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham lavishly praised possible Supreme Court nominee South Carolina U.S. District Judge J. Michelle Childs as "qualified by every measure" and "one of the most decent people I've ever met." "I can't think of a better person for President Biden to consider for the Supreme Court than Michelle Childs. She has wide support in our state, she's considered to be a fair-minded, highly gifted jurist. She's one of the most decent people I've ever met," Graham, who represents South Carolina and sits on the Judiciary Committee, said in an interview on CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday. "She's highly qualified. She's a good character, and we'll see how she does if she's nominated. But I cannot say anything bad about Michelle Childs. She is an awesome person," Graham continued. (Link is included). The White House confirmed Childs was among the candidates President Joe Biden is considering to fill the Supreme Court vacancy created when Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement on Thursday. Childs was initially nominated to serve on the Court of Appeals, but her nomination has been delayed as Biden considers her for the Supreme Court. Sen. Lindsey Graham praises potential Black woman SCOTUS nominee
  4. No one controls Black America. Period. We are individuals and we are not a monolith. Just look at the division of our political strength. It was majority allied with Democratic Party until Bernie, the Socialist, came along. So strong was his Kool-Aid, there are still Black voters who believe Socialism is their savior. Now, Trump has made inroads, mostly because his Black supporters see themselves as superior to every other Black person. But too Black Trumpers articulate their imaginary preeminence with childish epithets and collective putdowns usually reserved for White racists.
  5. daniellgfny, The Atlantic is an esteemed publication that challenges errant perceptions and prints truthful analyses. Read the following s l o w l y. If what was published in this magazine about Trump were not true, the publishers could have been sued. They weren't. Trump has NOTHING to do with Black Excellence. Or Black Survival. He's been against both for decades. You probably own a house and give credit to 45 for making this possible. Or ... now that you own a house, you believe you're above all other Blacks who don't. I cannot believe you support Trump, who by most accounts, is a rank idiot. Remember, Trump advised people to inject disinfectants into their bodies to fight off Covid-19 infections. And he actually proposed irradiating patients' bodies with ultraviolet light. Trump's wacky ideas to combat Covid-19
  6. Slow, mental midgets and other juvenile taunts. Got anymore sandbox epithets? You fans of Donald J. Trump, who rarely talked about a Black person he failed to exhibit contempt for, are true disciples of 45.
  7. Cynique, Thank you for your support. But trust me, White rage over Critical Race Theory and a truly false belief that Black job and college applicants are preferred by most companies and universities is what will drive GOP voters.
  8. People of means coming to the rescue of New York City's unemployed, the about-to-be homeless and the poor? I doubt it. The prevailing view of many (including a certain few on this very discussion forum), is that the poor, the under-educated and unemployed deserve their fate. I completely disagree. People from other states and those fortunate to have high paying jobs tend to look down on anyone trapped in cities such as New York, Atlanta and Philadelphia. Just read their negative comments on the Webpages of any news organization, their news forums or listen to the broadcasts of arch-Conservative pundits. But the bottom line is workers in New York City lost so many jobs during the Pandemic, some pundits wondered if the city would ever recover. “From the start of the pandemic, no other large American city has been hit as hard as New York, or has struggled as much to replenish its labor force. Nearly a million people lost their jobs in the early months of the pandemic, and thousands of businesses closed” according to the New York Times. (Link provided). “As the city plunged into its worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, the unemployment rate skyrocketed, peaking in June 2020 at 20 percent. Nearly every industry — from construction to finance to social services — has fewer people employed now than before the pandemic swept into New York in March 2020,” the Times said. The bottom line is that thousands upon thousands of New Yorkers lost their jobs, had their work hours cut and did without many items for months during this pandemic. "The statisticians closed the books Thursday on the jobs lost in New York City in 2020: 631,000, the largest one-year decline since reliable statistics began being compiled after World War II," according to Greg David in a March 2021 story published in The City, a non-profit digital newspaper that covers the goings-on in New York City. "The damage has been so great that local experts on the city’s economy see a difficult effort over several years to regain those positions, whose loss has brought pain to legions on top of a COVID-19 death toll that just passed 30,000, hitting the most vulnerable New Yorkers hardest," David said in his news story. Read that quote again. He said the city's MOST VULNERABLE. I am from NYC and lived in an apartment whose rent increases were supposedly covered by New York State Rent Regulations. But these rules are often ignored by landlords and politicians normally back their plays. But there was one politician who made no secret of standing up to greedy landlords. And that politician was former New York State Governor Ellio Spitzer. Soon after taking the oath, Spitzer vetoed a bill pushed by landlords to force tenants to pay the costs of lead abatement. Even though lead has been known to permanently damage the brains of children, for decades landlords refused to stop using lead-based paints. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency: "Lead abatement is an activity designed to permanently eliminate lead-based paint hazards. Abatement is sometimes ordered by a state or local government, and can involve specialized techniques not typical of most residential contractors." Greedy landlords all over New York State refused to pay for this work. They wanted tenants to do so. Spitzer waited until he won the Governor's mansion and then promptly lowered the boom on landlords by vetoing that lead abatement costs bill. And the fear was - Spitzer would continue supporting tenants and aiding the poor. For the rich and for landlords - Eliot Spitzer was the Devil. And he had to go. So his enemies used his personal predilection for paying pretty women to have sex to get rid of him. Now, there's no one in NY State government who will stand up for tenants who have to deal with no heat in winter, lack of repairs and outright harassment in the form of targeted evictions. Just remember Trump fans, your hero hired porn stars. The expiration of this Eviction Moratorium is manna from heaven for most landlords. The rich coming to the rescue of the poor and the long suffering? Nope they don't even want to pay their share of taxes. The only folks who matter to many wealthy or Conservatives - are themselves. NYC has not recovered from Pandemic job losses
  9. Come meet a poster named Nels In Trump-is-my-God land he dwells He loves to put down The Black and the Brown With each untruth his chest swells richardmurray and daniellefgny, I am discussing a current event. Which has little bearing on Russia's dalliances in Crimea years ago. What Russia is threatening is a full scale invasion and this will affect oil and natural markets. Go back and read the thread starter. I account for individuals.
  10. If you say so, Delano. But I did zero in on apartment building landlords.
  11. Troy, MY reaction to Mzuri. Seriously? You didn't see her initial reaction to my thread post? She went nuts with rage simply I edited in a news source I had forgotten to include. You know dang well I am a good writer. And I post links that offer proof of my contentions. I am still waiting for Mzuri's proof about the B.S. she claimed about Vice President Kamala Harris. You talk about purveyors of falsehoods? Unless she can validate her allegation from an unimpeachable source, then she is one. And a federal court verdict is an unimpeachable source. One cannot ignore it.
  12. I do not think Humanity or concern for others will prevail. NYC rental building landlords are a greedy, unprincipled and conscienceless lot. They have been waiting for this.
  13. Armageddon has come for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who rent their apartments and who lost their jobs du ring this Pandemic. This is horrible and a human tragedy. My hope is that many get this news quickly and act on getting assistance immediately. NYC Eviction Moratorium Has Expired
  14. RichardMurray, Many of us people photographers work with one another. This way we can combine our funds to rent studios, warehouses, lighting equipment and of course, hire qualified models. Not everyone can pose. Many have to be taught. So patience and understanding of whom we call "newbies" are paramount. I have my own lighting equipment and a bevy of light stands, umbrellas and backdrops. I am getting ready to donate most of this to Black photographers so it can used for Education. My hope is young people will become curious about photography, maybe even enamored by it and eschew the streets and gun play. The pros I am donating my equipment to have pledged to reach out to young People of Color.
  15. Some people have VERY short memories. President Ronald Reagan himself, promised to appoint a woman to the Supreme Court in October 1980. "The time has come," said Reagan. Donald Trump also promised to appoint a woman after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away. No one had seizures. I wish Biden had kept his mouth shut about his particular choice. And simply said he would look at all qualified candidates. Because his words have penned him in and actually limited his choices. And as anyone who has been part of the news business knows and understands the following: Perception is important. Now, in defense of President Biden, from everything I have been reading on countless online news pages, some Black Democrats and many other Dems appear to be disappointed with 46. Biden could have announced his pick and choice after the news of Breyer's resignation sank in. But he didn't. We have to live with it. Unless of course, some angry fools want to lay siege to the White House with torches and pitchforks.
  16. Cynique, Thank you for your support. But one group I simply have no fear of are Black Trump supporters. Most are worse than neurotic. Many are self hating and rarely proffer talking points they can actually prove. But too many seem to enjoy ad hominen personal attacks and of course, the ubiquitous threats of censorship. And it's the threat of censorship they think will carry the day. As if THAT is going to scare a retired Journalist who rose to become a Senior News Editor and who managed a newsroom full of young White writers with Masters' degrees from Ivy League universities for ten years. Not one of my detractors can say that about themselves. Not one! I am not afraid of the anger and rage from certain ones in this discussion forum. All that proves is their insecurity at having their viewpoints challenged. And honestly, that is something that responsible, educated and experienced online debaters will always laugh at. Some of these Black Trump supporters are wholly ignorant and dismiss the worst attributes of Donald Trump. He is a hateful, misogynistic and criminally minded man who peers down at the most educated and most accomplished Black men and women as individuals who should have never been considered equal to him in the first place. Screw the threats of censorship! That nonsense is for the vengeful and those fearful of Black people who can actually think and who can actually write. I am a veteran of two decades of posting in online Conservative news forums. I always defended Black people as well as Latinos and immigrants. Many Whites who are Republicans on these forums messaged me privately and admitted why I received so much blowback. I was despised simply because I was presumed eloquent. Really? People could not stand me because I can write well? Get in line, toadies. There is a lot more where that comes from. So many conservatives and Trump fans believe most Black people are stupid and cannot defend their own people without resorting to cursing or vituperative language. I abhor such childishness. That is for those who fear the truth. I don't. I was a Journalist and an adjunct English teacher in business colleges and I yearn for Truth. I was always a good writer and always a newsman. From junior high, to high school to college and then to actual newsrooms. Screw lies and threats of Censorship. The people deserve the Truth! If Black Trump fans want to know the REAL truth about Trump, here it is: Trump's hatred for Black People
  17. Mzuri, I could care less about Cardi B. You are the one who seems to be apoplectic over her. Not me. I merely posted news and added an editorialized lede. Now, where is your proof about our Vice President sleeping her way to the top? Got a link? You have no proof. Seriously, you whine and complain about me attacking Donald Trump when it is widely known he is a liar, a racist and went to extraordinary lengths to stay in the White House. And you don't like any criticism of him? Then you do not want any open discussion. You want an Amen Corner. You want everyone who posts comments to only share your viewpoint. But I will never take the side of those who believe Black people are worthless or unaccomplished. Not all of us are perfect. But no one is. And no one ethnic group is either. If you refuse to accept this, then you're a phony. I was a moderator of a couple of online forums that concerned Black thought. But I never stopped anyone with differing viewpoints from posting. If this is what you're about and this is what this discussion forum is about, then you're afraid of those who challenge your viewpoints.
  18. Prof D, You are right. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, it is estimated that the planet has at least 52 years before humanity depletes the current global reserves of natural gas, assuming annual consumption remains at present levels. But during the 1973 OPEC oil embargo, I distinctly recall NYC landlords demanding and then receiving approval for a special fuel surcharge to be added to monthly rents to offset supposed higher heating fuel costs. I, and many others, had to pay that damn surcharge. Many folks simply do not understand the underlying greed that rules the real estate rental world. It is the same type of avarice that is causing inflation and rising prices on foodstuffs and essential household items throughout the country. It is not so much a shortage of food and household goods as it is panic buying, price gouging and corporate greed that is to blame for rising food and consumer good prices. A steep rise in heating gas will have little to do with being disingenuous. Because the increase will definitely be tied directly to any war and explained as quite necessary by pundits, paid industry spokesman and complete liars. But in the end, greed will be main culprit.
  19. You alluded to fame having a price. This is true. I am not going to crack on Cardi B's dress or lifestyle. From everything I've read about her, she altered her body to look the way she does now. For those who don't like how she portrays herself - my advice is don't look. It does not matter what we think. Many on this planet who have access to U.S. entertainment coverage believe Cardi B is one of the world's most attractive women. And it has driven countless women mad with envy. If you look at Madonna, she used her looks as well to parlay her way to millions and worldwide fame. But that woman can actually sing. The same cannot be said of Kim Kardashian, who can't sing. But along with her sisters and neices, managed to rule the world of TV and tabloid celebrity for years. And they accomplished this with their looks, a savvy mother and an idea to galvanize millions of women to want to look like them and imitate their lifestyle. It has worked splendidly. It is not my place to criticize their looks or their right to gain fame and fortune. They did it. Cardi B is young. We don't know what she will do in the future. One thing we can be sure of. Unless limits or constraints are placed on writers or photographers, those who manage to become famous or infamous can be assured a lifetime of not just adulation, but physical and psychological fear as well. Being a stripper does not make one a prostitute. Do you understand the difference, Mzuri? You accused our Vice President of "sleeping her way to the top." Without any proof. You are no different than the racial bomb throwers on Fox News. The bottom line is this: Jurors decided the blogger lied when she claimed Cardi B was a prostitute and backed it up with millions in directed damages. No amount of hate from you is going to change that. Now, for the third time, where is your proof that our Vice President "slept her way to the top?"
  20. @Prof D, Normally, I would agree with you. But any conflict has a potential for spiraling out of control. Not to mention upending the markets, which is always a driver of White angst. Personally, I could care less about how this affects rich, White folks. But I am truly concerned that what even a temporary halt in natural gas shipments from Russia to Germany via the Nord Stream pipeline system could result in. Not just higher prices at pumps. But in heating bills. And this is what scares me. With so many Blacks and Latinos in the U.S. homeless thanks to skyrocketing rents and home prices, higher heating costs will likely lead to surcharges on rents across the U.S. and elsewhere. This is going to really hurt the poor, the just-making-it and those trying save to improve their situations. And I am not certain that Germany wants to go along with any sanctions plan. Berlin has already frowned on the transfer of howitzers from Estonia to Ukraine. I don't know if you are aware that Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is accusing Joe Biden of appeasement on Ukraine. But this is not a fight the U.S. should shed the blood of its military in. This is Europe's problem. And the die was cast for this foolishness soon after Mikhail Gorbachev was overthrown in a 1991 coup and replaced by the drunk Boris Yeltsin. While Russia was its weakest in a century, googly-eyed diplomats and politicians saw a chance to stick it to the old Soviet Union by vacuuming up former Warsaw Pact nations into NATO. As if they never expected Russia to regroup, re-arm and return to its dream of European domination.
  21. This is why you don’t lie and make up salacious garbage for attention - or out of jealousy. Because celebrity blogger Latasha Kebe loved doing this and attacked rapper Cardi B relentlessly, posting 20 videos to YouTube in 2018 accusing her of having herpes, using cocaine and being a prostitute. I'm not a Cardi B fan. But I am lover of Truth. None of Tasha K's allegations were true and in 2019, Cardi B sued the lying witch for libel and defamation in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia in Atlanta. Tasha K lives in Georgia, according to Rolling Stone magazine. Well, guess what? Jurors who heard the case and all the vile smears have rendered their verdict: A complete victory for Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar. Jurors found Tasha K liable on two counts of slander and one count each of libel and invasion of privacy, according to the New York Times. The jury awarded Bronx-born Cardi B $1.25 million on Jan. 24 and another $2.8 million on Jan. 25. The jury also handed Cardi B $25,000 for medical expenses and around $1.3 million to cover the rapper’s legal fees. All because Tasha K lied her azz off in countless videos, which garnered her a lot of attention, the Times said. Congratulations, Cardi B. As a journalist who eventually ended up training and mentoring reporters and taught writing for five years in business colleges, I despise liars and cretins who spew untruths and unsubstantiated drivel simply because they are jealous or don’t like someone. Just tell the damn truth.
  22. You do not live for any challenge. You think your fellow Blacks are beneath you. But I am one who is not. As I said before, you know little about global relations and world politics. But prattle on.
  23. I honestly knew little about who was working behind the scenes on those 1970 films. But I do know that most of the folks toiling on movie theater and TV show sets belonged to unions. A close friend of mine was an associate producer on the first Equalizer TV show. She made a decent salary. I also knew a few actors, professional comedians and Broadway show carpenters and scene set-up men. But I was still in college and working on my degree. Despite two offers for acting, I was not interested in being before the cameras.
