  1. While the story is framed as an empowering drama with Viola Davis playing a hero who pushes back against the slave trade, the Dahomey kingdom actually gained much of its wealth from selling people into slavery. The Agojie were direct participants.

The New Yorker published an in-depth critique of the film’s historical inaccuracies, saying that it “crosses the line from reasonable fiction into cynical distortion of history” by re-framing the Agojie as anti-slavery heroes. (Smithsonian Magazine also published an explainer on the film’s real-life origins, discussing the Agojie’s brutal reputation and the real reason the Dahomey kingdom ceased its involvement in the slave trade.)

@richardmurray I decided to google to see if Lupita offered any reason as to what I had heard, and she did.

However, I think that more needs to be said because I still do not understand completely why the movie is causing controversy.

I watched Lupita's reaction in a brief video when she visited the African country to do research about the movie, and well, I kept thinking about it all last night... couldn't get it off my mind. She broke down.

    Wow! Excellent post.

However, I do not believe in signing a petition without doing more individual research.

So, I will keep my eyes open for more information.

Right now, I don't dismiss petitions at all and believe that this could be a great start, but I also believe something else needs to be done.

Slavery in prison is definitely evil and it is a hidden agend due to decieving Black people to believe that the 13th Amendement outlaws slavery when it absolutely is written in such a way that it still condones it!

And, I completely understand the issue about environmental dumping in poor and Black and other non-Europeans concentrated communities.

The Bible scriptures go into depth about this subject and it is not good if the chosen seed did not live in the acceptable fashion and do the 'right kind of practice outlined' in their lives.

Sex should not be evil, but natural. This includes having a healthy diet!!!-- Or else, it will destroy the body and be bad in sexual relationships. Just sayin.

Black people have been conditioned to have sex with a corrupt mind, and now, we have all kinds of problems.

I lived in California and Texas when I was younger, and yes, these comments remind me of some of the issues I experienced.

This is why too, I fee that Black Americans need to be more distinct when the coin the phrase 'Black and Brown people' and include others into our struggle against racism.

Also too, I am very frustrated to say the least that a White homosexual man was allowed under America to adopt a little Black African boy!!!

    Yes, thank you @Sani Nassif.

I believe you about instincts especially when it comes to European history about slavery.

And, I am still searching for 'the instincts' of other people to allow slavery to be set up, as you say, everywhere in the world.

Right now, I am concentration on getting a better understanding the origins slavery in the earliest of civilizations.

I believe, like @Pioneer1, that Neanderthals were wild.

I also believe though, as you kind of alluded to, that Neanderthals perceived that they were more perfect than others but at some remote time before they became mutated. And because of their knowledge of the kind of healthy physical expression they once expressed, they went about engaging and intermixing with modern mankind, with sex selection issues on their mind so that they could erase the problems that came about in their genetics and part of this exploitation of modern mankind led to trickery and enslavement and developing some kind of control over others as well, that led to slavery.

I want to give an example:

at some point, in America, Sickle Cell Anemia became such a problem during chattel slavery that, the Europeans began stealing slaves from the east coast of Africa in order to get rid of that issue on the slave yard. I don't know if I have explained thouroughly though, what I am trying to get at.

Anyway, thank you for your comments.

Although humans have existed and reproduced for thousands and thousands of years and we vary genetically in many ways, however, there are genetic blueprints and repetitive reproductive patterns even today that can be traced back to certain origins. So therefore, does the Holy Bible pinpoint genetic origins that can be understood today? Absolutely! But for various reasons many Black people have no idea how the Bible reveals these scientific facts. And so, some of the reasons that we do not understand will be outlined in order to show just how much science has been captured in the scriptures. Because the written works of the ancient scribes were deliberately sealed up for thousands of years therefore, today without research and revelations, then the Bible will not be understood. To also add to this would be the deliberate suppression of facts that have been presented about human origins. Howbeit as well would be one of the most affective detriments against Black African-typed Christians in understanding the Bible; the intense movement of White Supremacy furthered specifically byway of Black African people of which, I believe in general, we have all been exploited to do at one point in time in our lives. Many Black African people have been deliberately miseducated and then sponsored in several ways to intimidate others into believing lies and to propagandize deceptions, not at all backed up by science nor confirmed and so today, many of us have accepted common beliefs that are false. One prevalent misleading belief forced upon the Black African world from other ‘Blacks’ who are not even degreed in this area of study would be to put out falsities in that there are no humans expressed as being ‘BLACK SKINNED’. With great intimidation and stealth has this information been propagandized byway of many African-typed people. It has been pushed as a matter-of-factly approach, in that ‘there is no such occurrence of Black skinned people, and we are all expressed as different shades of brown’. So even though science reports and the Bible states otherwise, this common misbelief has been pushed for so long, that it has been accepted as being a fact. Therefore, in order to highlight some key points about our human origins, it would be good to go back to the earliest civilizations scripted, one of which would be that of ancient Egypt [Kemet]. Also, in addition to the subject of ‘Black Skin’, one other unique expression that we have been accustomed to see in art will be discussed and that would be those mystifying Egyptian eyes so often depicted which, in some circumstances, has a correlation to Black skin, believe it or not! But however, the Egyptian eyes in art will be contrasted and compared to the Biblical scriptures about the Egyptians of past and present.

In the scholarly world nothing can be accepted as fact or fiction without other publications, references and confirmations based on some type of scientific format. So likewise, ancient scriptures that we consider today, should not be accepted as a complete truth without it being proven by various scholarly methods of validation that can stand the test of time and measurement. We can choose to believe by faith and hope but over the course of time, ‘Faith without works are dead’. Faith with no eventual proof will be dead--without any effort. So, when we read reports about Egypt today and see the media and visual representations today of the Egyptian people, as a whole, they seem to look much different from the Egyptian people of the past. What do our educational books say? What does the Church teach about Egypt as it was detailed in the Bible? Have Black American people been taught from two different point of views about ancient Egypt? Some popular films shown here in America have shown that ancient Egypt was dominated by White people. But how does this portrayal of ancient Egypt compare or contrast with the ancient scriptures and with ancient Egyptian script and depictions? The fine art museum here in America in Massachusetts shows that in the earliest of Egyptian civilizations, it was dominated by black and very dark skinned African-typed people, but it also showed White and lighter skinned people present too. So therefore, it would be important to look at script as well as art history to know truth.

Because ancient Egypt also has a very long dated history then, it would also be important to look at dated material to better understand the past. There was a lengthy historical period documented that occurred long before the Old Pyramid Age began, and this aspect captured in the Bible in terminologies as well as in ancient Egyptian script would be crucial to understanding human origins. Scientifically, the end of the Old Pyramid Age can be marked in many ways, but one major mark would be the end of the use of massive and well-cut stones to construct pyramids. The New Pyramid Age/Later Bronze Age [i.e. the Middle Kingdom Period & New Kingdom Period] can be marked, scientifically by new technology; an upgraded and extensive use of the bronze metal and distinct building material used to construct pyramids and many other structures. For example, the use of much smaller mudbricks had been manufactured on a widescale. To scale these distinct Egyptian time periods, it would be beneficial to note the very time period and age of our Modern American civilization. The Age of Exploration begun during the 15th century, which would be one major time period that begins the formation of our present civilization up until now would be about 600 years. However, the Old Pyramid Age lasted for over a thousand years before it came to an end abruptly. This period can be marked by what secular scholars’ term ‘the wet phase’ and matches the very time period of the Biblical Great World Flood. The New Pyramid Age and the New Bronze Age began after a period that became known as ‘a dark period’, that of the First Intermediate Period.

So, aside from the sudden end of the Old Bronze Age of the pre-flood world and after the end of the old methods of the construction of pyramids, however, there were several other recorded confirmations that synchronizes Biblical scriptures with ancient Egyptian records such as the extensive copper and tin trade that marks the transition into the New Bronze Age and marks both the incredible civilizations of Sumer and Egypt. The earliest records of these civilizations are dated to be about 4000s-3500s BC. And then there were the many hundreds of Cuneiform tablets that attest to this late copper trade period [CHALCOLITHIC PERIOD], and the New Bronze Age and connects to the same timeline of the Biblical post-flood Cush descendants of Ham, the CHALDEANS, that set up this Sumerian civilization in and around present-day Iraq. But after the third and fourth generations of these early Sumerians had been born, after the decline of the Sixth [6th] Dynasty in Egypt, and the Intermediate Period eventually collapsed, and then finally after the New Kingdom Period had set up and become well defined and marked by the rise of the 19th Dynasty around the 1300s BC, therefore another time period of about a thousand years had elapsed since the time of the Great World Flood [2300 – 1300 = 1000].

So, to better understand how Egyptian people have been defined over the course of thousands of years then, it would be good to understand the earliest periods of recorded history. Because Bible terminology does use terminologies that define Egypt as one of the earliest civilizations therefore, this would be a good start. Cont. Part II Introduction, Who Came First?

P.S. I wrote part one of this research a year ago and decided not to post it until I completed the conclusion of my research of which, I still have not done. In the interim, I yanked the cord out of my old computer and anguished over not being able to access my research and had to get help to recover my files. Although I’ve researched about Egypt for many years, I always make a practice of going back over details intermittently to check for scientific and historical updates.  This research on Egypt is my passion and is also really in depth and I just did not want to even attempt to start from scratch on remembering what I had already written down to post. I just recently finished part two, but I still need to research much more references and hope to share more. The history about Egypt is so vast but I believe it should be a main focus in understanding the issues of today.

You're right, the Europeans justified killing Native Americans and enslaving Africans by saying that we were heathens and violent, etc. however, as you stated about the presence of the Neanderthals that were in AFRICA millions of years ago. What Black people need to do, is to go back farther in history to realize that this evil system of White Supremacy goes much farther back than 1492 and infiltrated African and caused division and violence. Black-on-black violence is inevitable until we accept the truth about White Supremacy infiltrating our lands.

Neanderthal type genetics all started in Africa as well with fossils like like Ardi, Lucy & many other similar forms having fossil records going back millions of years in Africa. All found again going back for millions of years no where but Africa, because Africa had the best climate for life to have formed, for very long periods of time, all fossil evidence reveals this to be the case.

That is NOT what the pagan scientiest report today. I partly agree though with you about Neanderthal intermixing with African people, however

No, Neanderthals did not start in Africa.

African people's skin possess melanin and as @Pioneer1 mentioned, Neanderthals have very thick skin. That is not an adaptation but A MUTATION.

Pagan scientist have a movement about evolution, however, as a Biologist, I know that evolution has not been proven at all, and that is why it is a theory.

I studied melanin in college in one course, I studied about melanin specifically. The course was Histology.

I studied cells with melanin and know that Europeans also have it in their skin cells, however, the significant lack of it in their cells causes them to be more susceptible to a lot of skin diseases. The lack of melanin is not about adaptation. Neanderthals were definitely in Africa and did not originate in Europe as pagan scientiest report.

I believe you, however, African people do not have thick skin and are not aliens to this planet.

African people are indigenous to this planet earth. Our cells and our hair are not associated with scales at all.

My senior thesis project was about this subject of 'hair, nails, etc. of which I concentrated on the study of chicks in my class called COMPARATIVE ANATOMY.

Neanderthals are NOT of this planet. They are aliens. The film that @franksterposted reveals some of these issues.

There is NO evidence today in reproduction of Neanderthal males reproducing and having more Neanderthal males.

Today, they only exist through hybrids which shows that they did intermix with Africans.

I first heard of this Black owned business in Houston, Texas from a viral video posted by a black own vlog site called Pink Book Lessons of which she mentioned a disrespectful Black woman who went to the restaurant this past September 4, 2022, to make a publicity stunt to go against the dress code policy. So, she referred to this woman as wearing a 613 Helmet and also a 304. It took me a google moment to find out the meanings and so, 613 helmet refers to the blonde wig that this woman wore and 304 is an urban slang word which means ‘Whore’ [i.e., HOE]. Apparently, 304 stems from turning a calculator upside down and when the number 304 is read it spells hoe’! LOL. At any rate, this restaurant was opened and operated by a Black woman, and it has become so famous that many celebrities go there. People stand outside in two-hour lines to be able to experience the mouth-watering food! So as for me, I would have no problem with the dress code:

The Turkey Leg Hut dress code policy states:

*no excessively revealing clothing (shorts must cover your entire bottom)

*no obscene language or baggy clothing

*no house attire (including wave caps, du-rags, house shoes or shower caps)

*no exposed undergarments (including sports bras, bras, panties or garments resembling these items)

    *no swimwear of any kind

Man! I remember when I had to take refuge a few years back and travelled all the way across America to St. Louis, Missouri and by happenstance, turned into the driveway of Sweetie Pie’s restaurant and learned how famous it was but now, This Turkey Leg Hut and piqued my interest even more! Sweetie Pie’s was also founded by a Black woman who was a backup singer for Tina Turner and like Turkey Leg Hut, her restaurant became so famous that people will travel from far away and stand in long lines just for the experience.

Now, at Turkey Leg Hut, people come from places all around the world to eat at this restaurant. Famous people like Snoop Dog and Kevin Hart and many more also visited and endorse it. Even the African Diaspora Channel featured this restaurant because the Gentrification type communities that sprung up in this once dominant Black community sued the owners due to the smoke that they claimed was a problem in the community! However, so many kinds of people patronize this establishment and so, because of the many kinds of people that come to it, the owners soon listed a dress code and so, these viral videos posted will show the true story of how this restaurant has become so famous. And the viral video by Pink Book Lessons, etc. will also explain more about this amazing restaurant and the kind of negativity that actually came from Black women.

Because she found out the TRUTH about that tribe and how they were one of the ones responsible for hunting down Black people and making slaves out of them instead of saving them which the movie would have you believe.

    Oh really!?

@Pioneer1 Do you know this as fact?

I am inclined to believe you because Lupita is bigtime!!!

There is definitely a reason that she refuse to play this role.

I just listened to the video you posted, and would like to know more about the speaker.

He was very passionate. He says pretty much that the Dahomey women fought other Africans but not the Europeans; is this truth though?

It seems like Africa was swamped with so much activity of Blacks selling other Blacks to Europeans that in itself though is not altogether a negative issue; what I mean is that would be unavoidable and Africans should have tried to fight off Europeans from being welcomed to Africa for the slave trade, but then too, Black-vs-Black defense was necessary too.

I hope to read more about the Dahomey, because like you, I do NOT trust this movie at all.

No, I don't think I am in favor of this movie.

Man, Neely Fuller Jr. talked about the subject of this movie years ago and how they were trying to masculinize Black women.

Interesting point. I have heard a lot of controversy about this movie.

I read that the role that Viola played was first offered to Lupita and after she researched it, she refused to take the role, and I WONDER WHY!?

Black slave traders actually sold off their own people just to make a buck? Hmmm... Don't see that printed anywhere in the mainstream media these days.

I absolutely agree!--However to say "Nope" and not acknowledge that these Africans sold Africans to WHO!?--Americans, White people, is crazy.

Nobody forced White people to buy and trade Africans. Nobody forced these White people to rape African chidren.

BTW too, my ancestor was NOT sold by any African, she was stolen during the Arab Slave trade.

@ProfD That jobs are being given to other minorities to displace Blacks is a frustration for me because it is obvious wherever I go.

This is happening in Blue collar jobs as well as jobs that require higher learning, jobs that many Black people can fill but are not given the chance.

Definitely. But I wonder how this can happen.

Good jobs mean better housing too and so many other things. We are being pushed out of the market.

Some historians refer to Masada as 'the Boston Tea Party' of the past. This viral and brief film about Masada helps to understand the depth of Ezekiel’s incredible prophecies, not only about the process in which the Israelites had been systematically driven out of the Middle East but how this time period was connected to the future event of the slave ship era that would not even happen until way beyond 2000 years at the time when this incredible prophecy was written! Now, it has come to past, so much so, that it has become a major tourist attraction. Now, it has been more than 2000 years since this event has come to past!

Ezekiel wrote that the horrible event of how the Israelites would be violently driven out of the Middle East over a successive period of time was only ‘a sign’ of even more terrible things to happen much later with regards to the setup of a Second Roman empire. Within the same prophecy about the setup of the Roman military camp, Ezekiel wrote about the Transatlantic Slave Ship era that would occur as a judgment against Israel for their sins. Wow! Does God have a long memory or what!? So like Daniel and the other Nebiim prophets, Ezekiel wrote about the apocalypse, a time period of ‘a time, time and half of times’ which means, 2500 years. Daniel specifically dated the apocalypse to be based upon the time of the construction and completion of the second temple in Jerusalem of which occurred during the 400s BC. This temple eventually became known as Herod’s temple as well due to some of the additions added by Herod.

    600s BC --------- Roman Empire --- AD 70s --- AD 433 Rome downfall -----AD 1099 Crusades

Ezekiel lived during the 600s BC, and it was during this time that the Northern Nation of Israel was overthrown violently byway of the Assyrians. So, about 600 years before the romans formed their empire, Ezekiel wrote his book and wrote about how the Israelites would be removed from this country, the original lands of the Canaanites. The prophet Daniel, at a young age became part of the downfall of Jewry, the Southern Nation of Israel, which did not happen until over a hundred years later after the Northern Israelites were overthrown. However, about 70 years later after Daniel and many of the Jews were forced marched out of their lands, the Babylonians of whom orchestrated this overthrow were themselves overthrown by the Persians and so, many Jews of the Southern Nation migrated back down into Jerusalem and built a second temple system up. But like Daniel, many other Jews remained in the north and became a part of the Persian overthrow as well. Eventually, after the Greek empire set up, soon came the Greco-Roman times. Finally, the Romans transitioned their system from a republic to an empire system and after a series of military campaigns such as the Punic Wars, the Romans began to exercise their military powers over the Middle East. From their capitol in Central Italy, the Roman made decrees and the first decree made in Syria was to begin a movement to tax the world. Soon, Roman military campaigns began against the Jews.

All throughout the Middle East, Roman military men were deployed to setup camps and to assist in the setup of Roman rule, however, many Jews vehemently resisted. Nevertheless, by and by, the Jews and many others like the Zealots became defeated. By the year A.D. 66, the Romans campaigned in the south against the last Jewish stronghold, Masada. This stronghold was a well-fortified and an extravagant and lavish walled community equipped with palaces, storerooms, and extensive water supply areas and that had been constructed by Herod at an earlier time. Initially, the Romans were overpowered however, the Romans would not relent, therefore, they employed some of their well-seasoned forces, one of which was supposedly men from Julius Caesars famous Black army. So, the Romans set up camp and lay siege, and this campaign lasted for years. Finally, the Romans built up a massive mound and rolled a battering ram into position and breached the wall. But, in A.D. 73, on April 16, when the Romans broke through, what they found was mass deaths. Ironically, 73 years prior, this was the very day that Jesus Christ was born, and the star of Bethlehem appeared.

The ramp was complete in the spring of 73, after probably two to three months of siege, allowing

the Romans to finally breach the wall of the fortress with a battering ram on April 16. [16][17] . . .

A giant siege tower with a battering ram was constructed and moved laboriously up the completed ramp.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masada

Some historians say that the people either committed suicide or submitted to murder rather than be captured by the Romans. There were only a few that were alive amidst burning buildings. After this campaign, the Romans dealt with remaining Jewish rebellions that occurred intermittently for decades up until the last significant revolt of Bar Kokhba. However, at that time and for many years to come, Masada became one of the most dramatic events of all times. More importantly, it becomes the mark of Ezekiel’s prophecy written down some 600 years prior. However, the most haunting aspect of that prophecy was that even as terrible as it had been for the Jews being driven out of their country, moreover, Ezekiel wrote that it would become a mark, a sign of the time, of another more evil horror to occur; that of the Transatlantic Slave Ship era and the setup of another future massive world empire system.

A Shoutout to the Habesha People This Week—HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    ENKUTATASH 2022

This week, beginning on September 11, 2022, was the start of the Ethiopian New Year as well as for the other Habesha people in Eritrea and other countries thereabout.

    3d-text-2022-ethiopia-flag-rendering-fro

    _118965590_gettyimages-493344858.jpg

And even though the status quo explanation for the Ethiopian New Year revolves around the Biblical King Solomon, for all of the other countries of the Habesha included would be the institution of their New Year that goes way back more than a thousand years before Solomon to the days of Moses.

So, what would be the start point of the Exodus?

    https://aalbc.com/tc/topic/9667-a-day-for-a-year-%E2%80%94start-point-ezekiel%E2%80%99s-prophecy/

The actual day the Israelites left was September 15, after midnight. So, the scientific date would have been September 14, as the Israelites changed their new year forever to begin that month instead of the scientific (lunar) new year of March 14.

    https://aalbc.com/tc/topic/9667-a-day-for-a-year-%E2%80%94start-point-ezekiel%E2%80%99s-prophecy/

So, during the Exodus, their new year was changed from the scientific new year of March 14, to occur on the seventh lunar month of September 14. Furthermore, the scriptures do plainly state that this new year festival was to be observed forever and so, their festivities usually last for a week. However, today, the Habesha people do not use the lunar Calendar but the Gregorian Calendar of which has been based on the solar cycles. Had the lunar Calendar still be in use, then every third year, their new year would be moved to occur in the month of October.

Although some people think that these African people in the horn are the only peoples to have a different new year than the western world, that would be far from the truth. And so, one of the very reasons for the Habesha people to observe their new year revolves around the purpose of educating their offspring annually on the historical basis of all humanity as well as how they came to form their original cultures. It would be from this basis too, that I have come to understand many aspects of the ancient new years that occurred even long before this September new year institution. I find it very intriguing that all of new years of the past and present have a direct correlation to astronomy and in some regards some type of cataclysmic event. For example, the ancient Egyptians had more than one new year and prior to the time of Moses, the month of February had been the most amazing new year celebration for the ancient Egyptians of which they observed for over thousands of years! But then, at some remote time, the scientific ninth month of November became a new year for certain ancient civilizations, and this too was due to some type of major star or meteor storm that struck our planet hence the root word ‘NOVA’ [i.e., Nov; ‘nova’, ‘new’ or ‘supernova’].

So, today, because there has been a meteor storm of new articles about recent sightings of UFOs [i.e., UAP, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena] and how our governments are now addressing the issue again, with no certain conclusions [again!], it would be good to look at the historical and scientific aspects of how our calendars correlate to celestial events and etc.

The *problem* I have with our American educational system is that it's preparing people for jobs that either do not exist and/or may not exist in the future.

    Oh yes, this is true.

We need analysts and experts to research this topic though, and then train counselors to guide students into the right direction in what kind of educational program to be in so that when they complete the required courses, they can be thrive in society.

Also, I believe that trained counselors should assess Black students at the appropriate age, and help to see their talents and then better assist them into going into a direction that would cause them to be further educated in a particular field of study. I believe it a job that both parents and counselors should do and this would be a benefit to humanity as a whole. Instead, imo, a lot of Black kids are saying at an early age that they want to be a rap star or a hair salon worker, or a football player and they are considering other areas of employment.
