No, but many of the sistas who choose to mate and dote on and fawn over and "fall in love" with non-Black men ARE being disrespectful to the bruthas and openly so.
Many will OPENLY walk around with a White man on their arms laughing loudly and showing the world how good of a time they are having now that they've found a non-Negro as a lover as a way of "getting back".

Most Black men don't do that.
Most Black men with a White or non-Black woman just want them for sex but could care less about "getting even" or trying to show them off to spite Black women.

    You are insane @Pioneer1.

This is disrespectful to women in general. To think that any positive woman, White or Black would submit to allowing Black men to reduce them to be exploited just for sex is a reflection of your ignorance and arrogance in not acknowledging the racial issues that plague both Black men and Black women.

Both Black men and Black women have had to deal with disrespect towards each other due to racism and violence that began in slavery.

Black women, though have especially suffered in may ways especially when it comes to their offspring in having support in raising their children.

Black women need to have a certain amount of economical coverage and for a long time, Black men as a whole could not step up to that plate.

Therefore, if Black women felt abandoned, it is because we were therefore, if a sista finds love and support from a non-Black man, that should not be seen as a negative issue.

The disrespect in flaunting a non-Black man as a lover and vice versa, stems from the slave yard and if we want to unite, then we need to acknowledge this did occur from both aspects.

Black men have been extremely disrespectful, too on this score and again, it stems from the slave yard, pitting gender against gender.

I've met so many well rounded Black men in my life with non-Black women, however, they have shown the highest repect to a sista, no matter what, but then, there are the kind of Black men that lash out against Black women and use this a the motivation for dating non-Black women. And, some of their reason, need to be understood too, though, in order to heal. Black men have been hurt by Black women, I can see this, especially in the nurturing aspect.

@Pioneer1You very statement is extremely DIVISIVE and your kind of thinking is a very good example of one major reason for a continual Black Disunity. smh.

To think that you started this thread on Black Unity!!! LOL.

I just GAVE you the facts on the Haitian Revolution!

It wasn't started by Toussaint....but by a Black man named Bookman during an African spiritual ceremony back in a remote swamp in Haiti.
They sacrificed a Black pig and abandoned Catholic and other religions that came to them from White folks and began to accept Vodoun and their Ancestors again.

Again, you are wrong. This man is not well known for a reason.

Sacrificing Black pig, yes, is an ancient custom against Black people and is a reflection of the Black-on-Black hatred that continues to be fostered amongst Black people.

These Vodoun practices were way to varied amongst different African and this is the problem today.

Whether it was Catholicism or Vodoun, these practices are constantly used against the varied Africans that came from different countries and keeps them divided.

No. Catholicism in not the same as the Coptic religion.

Again, if religion gives someone the belief that they have the right to force someone to adhere to their religion, then that is the problem.

But, since you believe that Bookman is the start and reason for Haitian victory then yes, do share.

Well, I hope that she is taking a leave of absence and will be back to catch you in your genderism issues.

    WHAT about @Mel Hopkins?

You don't think that you are being disrespectful to the sistas that chose to mate with a non-Black man?

Why would you need to distance yourself, @Pioneer1?

Why should a sista or a Brotha have to explain to you that their significant other is 'NOT-WHITE'? What does that have to do with them being Black?

The culture is the issue, here.

If an AfroAmerican is intact with their identity, then that should not take away from their choice in a mate.

America has done a lot of damage due to its racist agenda, but your understanding here, is flawed, imo.

I am interested in the Wakanda film but as before, I usually do see these new films until they leave the theaters but not deliberately, however, it's just my priorty lifestyle.

I think that's interesting of you assessment of Viola King's role in that slave film.

It will be interesting how the film industry will continue to contrast and compare the top two films!

  5. AND, you are wrong about your understanding of Toussaint Loverture.

His name would not be so well known if he had not played a major role in the organization of the revolution.

No, @Pioneer1 The Revolution did not occur before him but after he began to better organize the maroon groups. smh.

And as far as the religious aspect, you need to read what @Stefan wrote. Your understanding about this subject is so flawed.

Had brotha Malcolm X not been assassinated, I believe AfroAmericans would be in a much better net position both in terms of self-awareness and unity.😎

As you said, after he came back from the Middle East, his views changed.

Years ago, I was part of a book study with Islamic AfroAmerican MEN!--LOL.

It was around the time of the Million Man March and it was one of the best experiences of my life. It was at this time that I learned a lot about the Civil Rights Movement.

I had no idea that a lot of Islamics came together with the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!? I went to an HBCU and didn't even learn about this and a lot of history.

But also, I learned that there became a huge division when the late Malcolm X came back from the ME. He did not change a little, but a lot, from what I heard at the table.

My husband read a book about him, I think the author was the late Alex Haley, and in it, I was told that it was revealed that Malcolm X had an obssession with White women. I think he was a complex man.

Thanks @Pioneer1. Yes, I forgot about the Samurai. You are right!

Also, I remember that movie now.

And, the term Monk and 'Key' in ancient times meant 'an Original Monk', however, this too became derogatory much later in time.

By "full African" I mean no longer following the so-called Abrahamic religions

Obviously you are believing in false information @Pioneer1 Haitians are said to practice the Catholic religion and Voudun widely.

Ethiiopia is the only country that was not colonized and the video reference I posted talked about this.

Many Ethiopians practice the Abrahamic religion; COPTIC.

Italy attempted 2 full scale invasions in Ethiopia and the video I posted highlighted this.

One main reason the Ethiopians were successful, it was explained was that they were widely united and their religion did not hamper their goal.

That is the one issue, I believe will cause African people a continual problem for most, in that, they constantly attack each other and attempt to force their religious beliefs on others.

Religious beliefs is a human right and if a person's religion gives them the right to attack others and attempt to force it on others, then that should not be allowed.

That should be a freedom of choice.

I am very pessimistic about Black Unity and this is one issue that I believe will continue to cause division; RESPECT.

As a Christian, I absolutely believe in the scriptures in that we all must unify and be ONE BODY, however, as the scriptures say, this unity will happened but it will not occur for about a thousand years and not until Black-on-Black Hatred and disrespect of others becomes rooted out.

TOUSSAINT LOVERTURE was a devout CATHOLIC!!! He was successful in what led up to Haiti's freedom and not by voodoo or majic.

I believe that the slaves did what they could to deal with so much violence and the magic was beneficial for them. However, the slavery could never occur without Black-on-Black violence and what is going on right now, is an effect of that same system of disrespect, IMO.

    What Hapened to Shanquella Robinson?

This is a disturbing story. I feel so much sorrow for what that precious young woman has endured and the awful way that she had to suffer and then die. It is my opinion that she was obviously murdered and perhaps set up, then brutally attacked while a group of evil people that she thought were her friends watched. I just can't believe that someone would have that kind of spirit to do that to someone. No one deserves this. If someone had a problem with her, then they should have given her the human right to be tried in a court of law. But at what point did this premeditated death trap begin for this poor girl? Was it planned in Mexico or, was the whole trip part of the plan to deceive her and then beat her to death?

Apparently, Shanquella and a group of 'friends' spent their money to take a vacation in Mexico and this precious girl constantly communicated with her mother before, during and after she had arrived in Mexico. But within the next 24 hours was when she was brutally murdered and she had no hint of knowing her fate when she had last spoke with her Mom. One of the 'friends' phoned the Mom and told her that her daughter had alcohol poisoning and the doctor was coming to the hotel. But moments later, the mother was told that her daughter was dead. Afterwards, those 'friends' flew back to the States and came to visit the mother before the funeral. However, the mother got a phone call from an anonimous person after the visit and was told that her daughter did not die from alcohol, but she had been beatened to death. Then the mother found out that the 'friends' had videoed the very death of this girl and it was released to the law and media. OH MY GOD!

How could another Black woman be so evil against another? The video showed that Shanquella was in the hotel and was standing near a bed in the nude and another 'beast' moved forward and began to beat her viciously. Shanquella fell back on the bed and this evil spirit coninued to beat her. Then someone who was watching this evil act started laughing and taunting Shanquella and telling her to fight back. This poor child never fought back. The Death Certificate soon revealed that Shanquella did not die due to alcohol, but indeed, due to a broken back and neck. Initially, the Mexican authorities did not do anything about this murder but because of Shanquella's family and many people who went to social media, finally, the law here in America and Mexico came to realize that this girl was murdered and now they are looking into a legal method in how to prosecute this case. For now, only one person has been sought for this crime, but I hope that others will also be prosecuted as well. I don't know how anyone can sleep at night after watching this beautiful girl die in such an awful way.

LOL! @ProfDYes, well as for me, this is my home then for more than one reason because my slave ancestors came late enough, perhaps, to not be bullied into not also saying that I also have Native American ancestry so those bastards can try and say that this isn't my home. Sht--makes me so angry. On the other hand though, I can understand why some Native Americans don't feel happy about the White man inserting the African slave into their land without their agreement. Some of them benefitted from our detriment while others, well, I don't know.

Well, the youtuber, Patti Jackson and others insinuate that Ms. Cara was suffering depression and so ... they are hinting at something, but I don't want to speak anything into being true when it may be false. But, yeah, if she was BLACK LISTED and that is why we've not heard much from her in years, then she could have been upset about that. So unfair! She was so talented and beautiful.

  15. FURTHERMORE, I believe that AFrican Americans need to tune into this horror because happenings on this scale may affect other peoples as well and the whole globe, for that matter. IMAGINE if your finger represented HAITI and the rest of your body represented the whole planet. Well, if you cut your finger, it may hurt and appear to heal but if the cut was infected, then guess what, eventually your whole body could feel the effects of that infection! THAT, IMO, IS WHY THIS ISSUE IN HAITI SHOULD BE DEALT WITH ON A GLOBAL LEVEL. Although, it may take a long time, maybe hundreds of years, but I believe that this whole world will forever be affected by the enslavement of African people and if it is not addressed and dealt with properly, this world will never know peace as it should.

I many times hear White people and also Black people too, say that slavery is over and Blacks today that complain about it still affecting society are just making up false excuses, but IMO, HAITI is a great example that is a complete lie! The problems going on in Haiti are a direct result of those people being severely affected by slavery. So, there needs to be a solution to affectively deal with a great suffering.

I believe that one of the solutions is to understand the main problems that led to the issues today. NO, IT'S NOT ONLY THAT FRANCE SHOULD PAY BACK REPARATIONS, OR AMERICA, BUT ALL OF THE SEVEN-HEADED BEAST ARE DIRECT BENEFACTORS OF THAT ENTIRE ISLAND ENSLAVING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF BLACK AFRICANS DURING THOSE PAST DECADES. They need to stop pointing the finger at each other and take responsibiity for their organization of leagues during the A.D. 1500s in the set up of Chattel Slavery targeted against the African countinent.

Just like what was said about how they attacked the Native Americans here, they proverbially put one arrow of a tribe into another tribe and instigated and supported inter-tribal war, that is what they did with the Africans. They knew the conflicts and came to Africa with their idea of 'unfair trade' and gave a lot of trade to certain Africans that used this benefit to attack and kill off and oppress other Africans.

[1] Not only that but, Europe committed a Bait-and-Switch government and set up on Christianity but later Separated Church and State in order to keep chattel slavery as law, KNOWING THAT THE VERY BIBLE THEY INIALLY USED SPOKE AGAINST INHERITED ENSLAVEMENT FOR LIFE.

So, yes, part of Haiti's issues, imo does revolve around spiritual confustion and are not educated on the origins of the religions they practice and this is causing a great division. Most historians say that the VOUDU RELIGION formed out of the violence they endured as a result of slavery, and so, if that is true then, these Africans may need to revisit this issue and determine its origin. I believe though, it may go back much farther in time.

[2] Another problem too is that these young men dominating the gangs are associating their plight with the Taliban but what they do not understand is that the east world does have a certain religious basis as well, no matter how off some may say they are in their religious practices. Those people have elder leaders that they respect. The gangs in Haiti are said to be KIDNAPPING their own people and forcing relatives to pay a ransom and in this way, they are getting a lot of funding to trade and get weapons, etc. They are taxing their own people and copying ancient techniques thinking they are right. That is crazy.

[3] The weakened central government leaders are asking for outside help and for a national troop to put their boots on the ground. However, there is a great reluctance due to outside negative actions. Maybe the UN needs to ask a strong country in Africa to go into Haiti. Maybe the AU needs to be supported to help Haiti.

[4] Finally, I believe, again, because all 7-European countries that formed the League of Nations back in the 1500s orchestrated against Black AFrica with their Idol religion, then that would mean that SPAIN needs to also help. Therefore, the neighboring country, SANTO DOMINGO, needs to be addressed, perhaps with some type of incentive to set up refuge towns specifically for the Haitians. Oh yes, all of them, all of the 7-leagued nations, including Spain, should be paying reparations due to chattel slavery. [1] Spain & Portugal, [2] Dutch Netherlands [3] Britian & the United Kingdom, [4] France & Belgium, [5] Italy, [6] Scandinavia, and [7] Germany.

Here is two other brief and very recent videos about the pressing issues in Haiti; one video is of an Ethiopian person, though he is not speaking about Haiti, but he actually brought out some awesome points in how Ethiopia had to deal with the attempted force colonization of Italy. And he also targeted the issue of religion and how 'heretic religion' can negatively affect unification of a people. I think Haitians need to re-address some of their religious trances that I have heard about in how they can conjure up their dead ancestors to tell them what they should do and how they should conduct their lives and then forcing others to worship ancestors that they may not even be connected to. Anyway, I apologise if I am being offensive, please don't be angry with me, but I am open for understanding.

Based on my LIMITED research (because I haven't actually been to that nation yet), I believe the main problem with Haiti and the major reason it faces so many disasters is because of SPIRITUAL CONFUSION.

Oh yes! You nailed it on this one, IMO. That is definitely one of the main problems there. And when you say that the United Nations are helping to destablize it, I can understand this too, but again, you saying that the Haitians should abandoned the Catholic religion and return to their Voudon and etc. is very probematic and kind of like 'a catch-22.

YES, what I mean by a 'Catch-22' is that I believe part of the 'destablization' of outsiders is that they encouraged the Haitians to practive Voudu after a while when they came to realize that the Haitians equated their ancestors spirits with the Catholic religious saints. That, imo, is part of the problem with this Spiritual confusion that you so brilliantly stated.

So here's a question to start the topic. I'm currently working on a Monk based character specifically shaolin monk. I want to make the character Asian. Is this racial stereotyping? I wanted to honour and represent the monk character correctly, but where do I draw the line between racial stereotyping and honouring a cultures heritage? If I was to create the monk character with a different race would that be disrespectful?

Well, my opinion is based on a little knowledge and again, a little observation. When I was younger, I did not watch much television, but I later became curious about how certain cartoons and historical fiction shows and also gaming characters were aligned with truth. I began to pay notice to the credits after the show and it seems to me that a lot of cartoons and such are based on a lot of research from learned historians. Therefore, I believe that if you want to use an Asian character for a shaolin monk, you should at least do some research on that wise. Right off the top of my thoughts, the word 'Monk' signifies a very early presence of Black African typed 'ancient Sumerians' that were present in the ancient far east and then by the time that the shaolin monk became historical, well, I don't know. But I do believe at the time of these kinds of monks, there were still a significan presence of AFrican-typed 'monks' there too! I remember a recent movie, but the title escapes me though, of a film that showed a lot of historical fiction and I was very well aware of some of the roles played by Asians  were actually a depiction of Blacks. One of the common terms thrown around in that movies was the derogatory term for Blacks at that time, 'LACKEY' [i.e. Blackey].

So, again, if people don't care about historical acurracy in your depictions, then you will do great, but if people do care, then it might cause your invention to not take off very well.
