  1. Absolutely not. I'm too old for girlfriends. No time for mind games. Life is short. Karma is a b8tch. Cognizant of my mortality, I live my life by the golden rule and to the fullest insuring my peace, joy and happiness remain uncompromised.

  3. @Cynique i play pinochle ,thank you for your bridge history @Troy card games never ebb in popularity, pokemon or yugioh are some modern loves, thank you for spades @Delano you are the first to mention a non card game primarily. yes the spinning wheel is a common tool for physical random generation, although easily manipulate-able, if made honest it has fee rivals, thank you for your comment @ProfD you mentioned board games primarily, chess then monopoly. much heavier on the side of strategy as the other primaries chosen are games where,if fair, the influence of the random is undeniable, whereas chess has all knowns from start to finish.

  5. At one point in my life, I enjoyed playing games (board (Chess, Monopoly), card (Casino, Rummy, Spades, Tonk) and video (football) equally. I rarely play any games nowadays.

  6. Well that is why i like bid whist more than spades. In spades whoever is lucky enough to get the most high spades will win. In whist a hand that is great in hand for spades doesn't necessarily mean anything and you can “Run a Boston” in whist with a scrappy spades hand.

  7. @Troyin my world of bridge, there was obviously a substantial black participation in this game - which is actually a spin-off of whist = a game that black people have always played. And of course, black folks brought all their flair and guile to the game. Or was there a shortage of male players, who could be very intimidating and competitive, - not surprising. @DelanoAll card games involve an element of luck. Randomly dealt cards ensure this. Whether you win or lose, depends on the hand you re dealt and the "lay of the cards". Skill takes a back seat to a bad hand.

  8. $20 million to the Bruce family was apparently enough for their heirs. Someone came up with a land valuation. I doubt they presented a clear picture of projected loss of income/revenue over time. The heirs chose to roll with it. That's generally what people who are financially broken will do. Those guys probably didn't have a million bucks in the bank. So, $20 million was more than enough to make their dreams come true. I just hope the Bruce heirs don't spend the money buying a bunch of dumb sh8t and give it all back to white folks.

  9. I prefer games that have a random component or where luck comes into play as well as skill. So the few times I have been to a Casino I prefer Roulette. Since the croupier skills don't tilt the game in the house's favor.

  10. Poignant and interesting — thanks again @Cynique i always wondered about Bridge it always seemed to be played exclusively by white women named Gertude, Myrtle, Gladys, or Mable… On the TV sitcoms men never played. i don’t think i know anyone who plays. we played Spades in college. several times i played till morning myself. I later learned to play Bid Whist a much better game, that I rarely play because i rarely encounter people who know how to play. i understand Whist is similar to Bridge but i have no idea. i prefer bid whist because any suit can be trump or there can be no trump. You can also decide (bid) on whether the low or high cards are most valuable. I play spades with a group of people we pass a trophy to the winning team. I wished they would play whist instead.

  11. For me, hands down, (pun intended) Bridge is my strategic game of choice. I've been playing Bridge for 70+ years, dating back to my Freshman year at the University of Illinois, during the 1950s. Back then. Bridge wasn't just a pass time, it was what students stayed up all night in their dorms playing, or cut classes haunting the Student Union lounges huddled around tables, deciding which suit to bid. It was the favorite after dinner activity at Sorority and Fraternity houses, a fanaticism that jeopardized the scholastic standing of a whole lot of students, - included myself. So Bridge is my thing and when it comes to being a strategic game, there is no substitute for just plain old gut instinct and good judgement as opposed to the crazy "cue bidding" compiled by so-called experts who have diluted the purity of the game. I've been asked by people to teach them how to pay Bridge. But i always refused the request, telling them I can't teach you Bridge. You learn by playing it. You have to have what is known as "card sense". After all this time, I'm still learning the game. Although complicated, Bridge is also simplistic. No bells and whistles, just a 52 pack of cards to deal out to 4 people for whom nothing is more fulfilling than bidding and making a grand slam - unless it's throwing your cards across the table at your partner for making a stupid play! This is why down through the years Bridge clubs always topped my list of recreational activity. But those days are gone, along with all my old buddies who have ascended to that big card table in the sky. Bridge, itself, was dying out because it tended to be an "old people's game" but it is making a come back, and I go on line and play it every day with computerized robots. And if ever anything cast doubt on the reliability of "Artificial Intelligence", it's the game of Bridge. Robots make terrible Bridge players! They lack human instinct and are unable to establish rapport with their partner or to observe their opponents style of play and sense whether a queen-ace finesse will work. So my fascination with this game continues but, of course, the day will come when instead of bidding, I will pass...

  13. @Delano Lots of people are walking the streets because they beat the rap and were found "not guilty" of a crime they did commit. They are not "innocent", but benefitted from an effective defense. This is an example of how loaded words are; semantics.

  14. A friend told me Mah Jonng has a spiritual dimension. Playing cards can be used for fortune telling. In addition there is a divination system that use playing cards. Which I happened to be exposed to at the same time I was learning Tarot.

  15. When your enemy builds a bomb you build a bomb. That is how Wars work, and that is how the balance of power is maintained. Politics is a distraction. Politics is all 100% lies. Politics was designed from the very beginning to be a sponge that absorbs the resources of those who will act against it. The WEAPON that has always been in use is a tactic that is designed to remove the parents from the children and to isolate the family structure from itself. The main culprit responsible are the Fathers First. The Mothers Second. The Brothers and Sisters Third. Followed closely in degrees by Family Fiends. Friends. And then Responsibilities to Family. People have been Conditioned, Programmed, Brainwashed, Indoctrinated, and Forced to not focus on their Family as The Target of their design. They have done an excellent work of refocusing everyone on useless social dynamics which people cannot have any power over such as politics religion sports and their related categories. They do a magnificent, even spectacular finished work of casting the illusion that people are somehow affecting the outcomes of a system. They do so just enough to retain control over those people. To keep them as a follower. As usual. It is the same technique as always. DIVIDE AND CONQUER. They sell people the division, and the people buy it. Once all of the arrows are facing outward and there is no unified goal, no matter how powerful any of them are individually, the fight is already over and they are already defeated. The war is won. Never blame politics for anything because it isn't anything other than a distraction. Blame yourself whenever you let it distract you to the point that you can no longer find your connections in LIFE. Personal Responsibility takes precedence over all else. Always blame the true power that causes it. THE PEOPLE. In this case as in most of this nature, it is The Parents Fault.

  16. Truer words were never spoken. Were everyone that honest we would be in a better world. We LIVE in a system that disrespects EVERYTHING that is black. Blackness is only required in such a system as a propaganda tool used to motivate those people who choose to be a follower of people who are racist and hateful. The key fact is they are recruiting followers. To that end they will assign as many black faces (They are using Black Face ) as required, to insure and guarantee that you will submit your free will and independence to their cause. Black education is priceless to black people. In order for that priceless education to become a default as income, wealth, work, jobs, and careers, its prerequisite places it outside of, and away from, every other system in existence right now. The only problem that exist right now in the value of black education is the same problem that has always existed. Black people want to be recognized by the people who hate their very existence the most and are doing anything they can to be liked and accepted, appreciated and allowed in, as they can. That is a description of a failure and a loser. Which is why black people can historically be tracked as constantly being devalued than other races across any TIMETABLE. Followers. I wont even begin to break that word down. I am not certain how it is unclear to anyone who is interested in the subject of black power. But it can only be achieved through separation, segregation, isolation, and limited interactions with others. Every and Any other action that is designed around being included. Is based upon being absorbed into their system. Or any similar dynamic is a trick. DIVIDE AND CONQUER. How something so obvious always goes below the board never even getting mentioned on any social level? The answer that question reveals the state and condition of the black mind. Black education is USELESS when not being used in a BLACK SOCIETY. Black Society is different than Black People. There are billions of People that are Black right now who have communities, neighborhoods, and cities, to themselves. These are BLACK FACE societies. Their Society is not Black. Their Society is usually anything but Black. A group of Black People is NOT a BLACK SOCIETY. It is a black community, it is a black neighborhood, it is a black village, a black town, a black city. There are even BLACK STATES. None of them are black societies. For Black Education to have the value it deserves to have only a black society can make that value manifest.

  19. @Stefan, it is not my position that everyone should have a gun. Killing another person is not for the faint of heart. Only people who are trained and unafraid to use a firearm should carry one. Texas is an open carry state. Yet, it has not become the wild west as a result. The Texas Roadhouse eatery is an example of what an armed person can do. The guy went a bit overboard insuring the robber was dead. But, he did handle the situation. Mass shooters pick soft targets (church, school, business, etc.) because they know armed resistance does not exist. Very few mass shooters walk into a police station or a gun range and start shooting people. Too many guns. I get it that you are anti-gun. That's fine. Take cover when an active shooter shows up and bullets start flying. Otherwise, until America gets a handle on mental illness and other things that trigger violence, citizens who have the capacity and desire to do so should be armed. They might save your life.

  20. Reparations will have to be in the billions, not a paltry $20 million.

  21. Giving everyone guns is a terrible idea. No matter what many claim, the average person has a moral center and would be horrified to learn they've taken a life, even if it is to save another. But the real problem are those who are violent may quickly disarm a person trying to help. Then use the weapon on the do-gooder and others. Cops gun down folks they swear are armed every friggin' week. They are often mistaken. The same is true of civilians. Now, the so-called "good guy with a gun" in the Texas Roadhouse eatery intervened and shot a robber nine times, killing him. But he shot him AFTER the robber walked past him. I agree with those who want to prevent nutcases from obtaining firearms in the first place. But that train left the station long ago. The day when White people in this country accepted 20 dead grade school children and six adults in the December 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting, the debate over gun control ended. The recent spate of armed civilians taking the law in their hands

  22. @Troy @Rodney campbell I've learned a lot from Troy as well. When I first joined this Website years ago, while Obama still sat in the Oval Office, we had many congenial discussions and more often than not, we agreed. I still look at Bernie Sanders' first candidacy as a tragic error. He is one reason why I roundly despise egomaniacs. He knew he had no chance of winning. But the damn idiot pressed on and deprived this country of not only it's first woman President, but an individual who knew the issues, cared deeply for families, is incredibly intelligent, knew all word leaders and as a bonus, is someone Putin was definitely afraid of. Secretary Hillary Clinton did not require a steep learning curve as George W. Bush and Donald Trump did. She would have been ready on Day One. Screw egomaniacs. They all have a few things in common. They rarely read and understand, don't do much research and spend the bulk of their time trying to convince everyone they know everything. When it's plain as day they are full of chit on many issues.

  23. I was thinking along those same lines this morning. The Vedas touch upon ever area of life. What is fascinating is that certain yoga asanas (poses) have beneficial effects on the body or mind. In addition asanas at held for different lengths of time. So yoga was divinely inspired or downloaded from the aether.

  24. I heard Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker talk about that last week. Unbelievable that some law enforcement folks plan to ignore the ban. Governor Pritzker seems to think those in opposition to thre ban are a minority. He thinks most law enforcement folks will comply. It's easier to restrict new weapons purchases. Problem is there's a sh8tload of assault weapons already in hands. I'm totally in favor of armed citizens especially if it keeps others from becoming victims of crimes. Mass shootings would decrease significantly if perpetrators don't know who's strapped. Major cities like Chicago have a huge problem with senseless murders and other crimes. The citizens should be able to carry an equalizer.

  26. The situation in Chicago is ridiculous!. Each day newspapapers and nightly news stations give an accounting of how many were killed for the day, like war casualties. Not a day goes by where people aren't shot to death, many of them school kids or innocent bystanders or people inside their homes. They are predominately black, with a few Hispanics mixed in. Illinois just passed a law to ban assault weapons and the Sheriff of one of Illiinois' counties has declared he has no intention enforcing this law, that it's unconstitutional. NRA people are claiming that "assault weapon" is just a term that is made-up, that these weapons are just rifles. car-jackings and street robberies are running rampant, and people are now arming themselves, firing back and killing the perpetrators, which i think is almost funny. It's surreal. i don't know what's going on in the heavens, but Earth is turning into Hell.

  27. Keeping guns out the hands of nuts should be a priority. My concern is that a bunch of nuts already have guns. There is no controlling them. Unless people who have heard and/or seen strange behavior report it. Snitching used to be a bad thing. But, if it's going to save lives, somebody better say something. Especially family member and friends and associates who know the nut(s).

  28. I think gun control should be part of the conversation. Understanding why is good too, but keeping guns out the hands of nuts should be a priority, don’t you think?

  29. It is awesome that the Bruce relatives (great-grandsons) were able to reclaim their family land. Unfortunate that they had to cash out because they could not do anything to develop the land. Hopefully, the Bruce's will use the $20 million as seed money to build generational wealth for their heirs.
