Just how important was Raphael Warnock’s re-election victory? Wheeeeeely Important. It was the first time since 1934 that every Senate incumbent of the party of a sitting President won reelection. That is history making. As I’ve said before, Biden’s careful handling of the country and its economy is far superior to anything Trump ever managed. By adding to their one seat margin, Democrats no longer have to depend on Conservatives Joe Manchin (D-WVa) or Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) to pass bills or confirm judges. Both have been notoriously unreliable since 2021 when Democrats needed them to pass Covid relief bills and they steadfastly refused to consider a new Voting Rights Bill. Now, Dems can simply pass legislation without needing to kiss their butts or making huge concessions. But the danger is not over. As ProfD noted, the narrow victory margin for Warnock points to an uncomfortable reality. Folks hate Black people and with so many turncoats among us out there, we can ever let our guard down. Hate is up against Latinos, Jews, Gays, the Indigenous and the Poor. Every election is important. Every vote is important. We should never be content to think that others will do what we should be doing ourselves. Which is voting to promote, protect and advance our agenda. Saying you’re not going to vote was never an option for Warnock supporters. To not vote is no plan for the future. It’s Surrender.

@Pioneer1 Aren't you the one who demanded Black people decamp from California because Spanish-speaking migrants had arrived and had thoroughly established themselves? In effect, you were ceding future presidential elections. Without Black voters, our people have no way of interjecting our views and aims into a presidential election. You were hoping Karen Bass lost her mayoral election for Los Angeles. Explain how you win state electoral votes without being in that state in large numbers to actually vote. The way forward is by changing our mindset. Build Coalitions as Barack Obama did before he ran for the White House. However, for many this seems too straightforward, too practical and would appear headed for success. So they would rather grouse, complain and whine. Failing to vote is not a political statement. It is Surrender.

@ProfD It was close the last time, too. These are projected results. I am certain in all-White counties, some votes were counted towards the former running back that should not have been. Know how the African National Congress defeated Apartheid? By accepting help from anywhere the could get it. From the Soviet Union, from Cuba, from non-aligned nations, millions of student activists, business people, Whiles with a Conscience --- anywhere. What is this called today in politics? Coalition Building. It's how Obama won. Twice.

Alliances and coalitions are the key. Obama did not win with Black votes alone. He built an incredible multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural coalition. Those in the TV, radio and cable TV industries who have backing have tried this - and failed. However, this biggest impediment to Black people creating "our own" media remains demented and sellout Black people, who back stupid GOP candidates who continually push for regulations and laws that weaken or eliminate our ability to do this such as this. How to find them? All too easy. Take a quick poll: Who on here backs the numbnut, Herschel Walker? And you'll have your answer.
