blacks have been tricked to believe folks of color will be the major group by 2050,but the facts are most hispanics are white in america, most are not folks of color i have just learn.

White Americans are the largest racial group counted in the 2000 Census, comprising 75.1% of the population. This number is sometimes recorded as 77.1% when it includes about 2% of the population who self-identified as "white" in combination with one or more other races; about 6% also identified ethnically as Hispanic. The largest ethnic groups (by descent) among white Americans were Germans, followed by the Irish and the English.

In 2005, Whites made up 80.2% of the American population. [25] White Americans (non-Hispanic Whites together with White Hispanics) are projected to remain the majority, though with their percentage decreasing to 73% of the total population by 2050. [26]

[edit] Demographic information

During the 2008 American Community Survey, 46.8 million Americans (15.4% of the total population) listed themselves as ethnically Hispanic or Latino American. Of those, 62.3% (29.2 million) self-identified as racially white while 30.2% (14.3 million) reported as belonging to “some other race.” This catch-all category consolidates the various indigenous races of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The remaining respondents listed their race as: multi-racial (3.9%), Black or African-American (1.9%), Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander (1.0%), and Asian (0.3%).[33]

The leading country-of-origin for White Hispanics is Mexico (9.8 million), followed by Puerto Rico (1.6 million) and Cuba (1.1 million). A smaller number of White Hispanics originate from various countries in South America (0.8 million), Central America (0.7 million), and the Dominican Republic (0.2 million). Approximately 2.5 million White Hispanics come from “other” places of origin.[34]

Respondents in the "Some other race" category are officially reclassified as white by the Census Bureau in some official estimates of race. This means that more than 90% of all Hispanic or Latino Americans end up being counted as "white" in some statistics of the US Census (which would equal 41 million in 2006).[35] Some Hispanic or Latino American groups have white majorities or pluralities, in contrast to the actual ethnographic profiles of their countries of origin.[citation needed].

[edit] Representation in the media

In America, social perceptions have changed somewhat through the years, Hispanic or Latino is often incorrectly given a racial value, usually non-white.[38][39] On the other hand, since the early days of the movie industry in the U.S., when White Hispanic actors are given roles, they are usually cast as non-Hispanic Whites.[38] Examples include such actors as Jose Ferrer, Benicio Del Toro, Frankie Muniz, Andy Garcia and Cameron Diaz.

Native-born white Hispanics often marry a non-Hispanic partner although 66% still marry a white Hispanic partner. Compared to 88% of foreign-born white Hispanic marriages are to a white Hispanic wife. White women of non-Hispanic origin are more likely to marry a Hispanic man of Some other race at 19%, than white Hispanic women with 2%.

According to race scholars such as Karen Brodkin, in the United States, essentially anyone of European descent is considered white and Jews are also considered white. [14] However, while the census asserts that "race" and "ethnicity" are separate, some Hispanics of primarily European descent may not consider themselves white and may not be considered white by others, possibly because of the long-held stereotype of Hispanics being given a non-white racial value. [15] [16] [17] Likewise, while people of Middle Eastern and North African descent are included in the white category in the census, studies have found that Arab American teenagers may sometimes construct identities that distinguish themselves from "white society." [18]

Some American white people, mainly those of distant descent from multiple European countries, tend to see themselves as belonging to no ethnic group at all, but just "American."

White American (often used interchangeably with "Caucasian American" [3] and within the United States simply "white" [4] ) is an umbrella term officially employed by the United States Census Bureau, Office of Management and Budget and other U.S. government for the classification of United States citizens or resident aliens "having origins in any of the original people of Europe, [5] the Middle East, or North Africa". [6] German Americans (16.5%), Irish Americans (11.9%), English Americans (9.0%), Italian Americans (5.8%), Polish Americans (3.3%), French Americans (3.1%), Scottish Americans (1.9%), Dutch Americans (1.6%), Norwegian Americans (1.5%), Swedish Americans (1.4%), Scotch-Irish Americans (1.2%), Russian Americans (1.0%), and Welsh Americans (0.7%) make up 58.9% of the "White" population. [7] Additionally, White Hispanics represent 9.62%, [2] mainly Mexican Americans.

Whites constitute the majority of the US population with 75.05% of the population. [1] Whites are regarded as the socially and demographically dominant racial group in the United States.

Nobody's tricking anybody. You're just not understanding the information. The "majority-minority crossover" that's projected to happen by 2050 refers to the number of all non-whites plus Hispanics rising above the number of whites who don't identify themselves as Hispanic. Yes, that new "minority" will include some caucasian Hispanics, and because the tipping point is just barely reached in 2050, people of the caucasian race could still outnumber non-caucasians. But the trends driving that shift aren't going to stop in 2050. Whites will eventually make up a smaller percentage of the population than non-whites, no matter whether it comes in 2040, 2050, or 2060.

Here's the word from the horse's mouth: official Census Bureau population projections through 2050.

"In all five series, the racial and ethnic diversity of the U.S. population is shown to

increase. With the minority groups projected to maintain or increase their shares of the

population, the proportion of the population that is non-Hispanic White alone is projected

to decrease.3 The amount of net international migration that occurs during the next four

decades could affect how quickly the minority share of the population grows. In each of

the four series where migration occurs, the size of the minority population is expected to

increase to the point that they represent the numeric majority between 2040 and 2050, we

refer to this as the majority-minority crossover (see Figure 5).

3 In this document, minority is defined as people who are races other than White alone or are Hispanic."

What Figure 5 shows is the minority population increasing from about 33 percent today to just over 50 percent by 2050.

That's all minorities (that includes Hispanics) combined slightly outnumbering whites. Remember that "Hispanic" is an ethnic category, however, not a racial one. Some Hispanics are causcasian, some are black, and some are AmerIndian. This report explains in detail why the Hispanic portion of the population (already outnumbering blacks) is going to grow faster than any other group over the next 40 years. The reasons: Hispanics are younger, have more kids, and make up most of the immigrants. The top three categories within Hispanic are Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Cuban. I don't think you can argue that most of those folks are caucasian.

Thanks, Xeon, but I've got to backtrack a little bit.

I took a closer look at the numbers I linked to earlier, and realized I need to apologize to kenno for being a little too quick to dismiss his contention that most Hispanics are white. The article he quoted said something about 90 percent of Hispanics being counted as white, and the 2050 report appears to do something similar.

Here’s the link again to the Census Bureau’s projections for minority population from 2010 to 2050. The 2010 racial breakdowns in the first column in the first section of Table 1 support kenno’s point. If you subtract non-Hispanic whites (64.7 percent of population) from total whites (79.5 percent), you come up with 14.8 percent of the population being in the subcategory of white Hispanics. Those white Hispanics would account for virtually all Hispanics (listed as 16 percent of population). And, as kenno said, that would mean that in 2050 the population would still be overwhelmingly white.

That prompts these thoughts:

1) The idea that the total number of whites would still be a majority was right there in the report from the beginning. In the far right-hand column, the 2050 projection puts non-Hispanic whites at 46.3 percent but total whites at 74 percent. The point of this report was never that all whites would be less than half the population, but that non-Hispanic whites would be less than half.

2) I seriously doubt the figures that imply over 90 percent of Hispanics are white. They conflict with the actual count of race and ethnicity in the most recent census. As you can see from the (hard) data from 2000, a slim majority — 50.2 percent — of the people who described themselves as Hispanic also described themselves as being some other race than white. I think the actual count has to be more reliable than the projections.

3) Whichever figures are right, there’s a problem with any projections that assume what’s happening now will continue to happen for a long, long time…because change is the only certainty. There’s a horrendous example from U.S. public policy: in 2000, the federal budget was in the black for the first time in a long time. The economists in the White House and the Congressional Budget Office assumed the new-found solvency would be permanent, so they issued reports projecting that federal budget surpluses of 4 or 5 trillion dollars would accumulate by 2010. Bush and Gore both campaigned on those projected surpluses — Bush said we should spend it on tax cuts, while Gore wanted to spend it on new programs. Now that it’s 2010, however, we all know those predictions of overflowing government coffers were utterly meaningless.

I don't expect this will interest anyone else as much as it did me, but I had fun kicking it around.

"Other" is most obviously Spain. The only other places are Equatorial Guinea or the Philippines. Even with more descendants than Puerto Rico or Cuba, it's disgusting how the U.S. Census seems to blatantly disregard Spanish ancestry by burying it under "other Hispanic or Latino."

White: 72%

Black: 13%

Asian: 5%

American Indian: 1%

Two or more/Biracial: 3%

Other: 6%

Latino is not a race and it never will be, no matter how mad or delusional you may get.

This is an idiotic statement that is unworthy of any further discussion. Nice demographic explanation bookfan. Your commentary was on the money. You saved me some writing.

All the race-baiting liberals and anti-white racists are constantly trumpeting how whites are going to be a minority as they obsessively deny the existence of White Hispanics by calling them "light-skinned" or "white-looking" or "biracial" or "acting white" or "self-hating" because these self-absorbed, patronizing liars and hypocrites are so Hell-bent on spreading their propaganda of Hispanic meaning "brown migrant race" just so they can have their open-borders, permanent underclass/new voter base, and cheap alien labor. They don't care whose lives they have to disrupt and ruin as long as they get what they want under the pretense of "compassion."

Now if that is how you believe as well, then yours is the idiotic statement.

Nobody's tricking anybody. You're just not understanding the information. The liberal race-baiters and their low-information lackeys have been obsessively promoting "Hispanic" as though it was a race for the sake of affirmative action, illegal immigration, and other divisive, politically-motivated policies. That's been their strategy for years: repeat a lie often enough, and people will start to believe it. This lie is based on a 40-year old stereotype that would have ceased to exist along with most other ethnic stereotypes had it not been for "affirmative action" and multiculturalism preserving it under the guise of "diversity." During the civil rights era, the Chicano movement was in essence an Amerindian movement, but all the political opportunists saw was "Spanish-speaking brown people" and decided that "everything Spanish is nonwhite" should officially be government policy.

"Hispanic" never should have been manifested into anything beyond Hispanophone ancestry. Creating a "minority" demographic based on the Spanish language, a language native to Europe and therefore white people, just for the sake of ethnocentric pandering should be as stupid and pointless as creating a "minority" based on the French or Portuguese language. Claiming it to be an "ethnic minority" implies there's an "ethnic majority," which there currently isn't. With all the different ethnic backgrounds, "Anglo" is a plurality at best.

Even if the white population does eventually become a minority, it will have nothing to do with "Hispanics."

Unless Hispanic in this instance is being used for Spanish ancestry, I also doubt that 90%. Any sizable majority seems difficult to believe considering how rampantly it is portrayed in the mainstream media as a racially nonwhite entity. I honestly find that 2050 projection difficult to believe in its entirety because it's based on current immigration patterns and does not factor in changes like mass deportations, accelerated migrations, or changes in migrant origins. We could very well see a sharp decline in Latin American migration along with a sudden rise in migration from a different region of the world.

Another insulting habit brought on by politically-correct propaganda and media-sanctioned ignorance is the misuse of "Latino." Every time these politicians and open-border "activists" say it, they always mean Hispanic specifically, and even then White Hispanics are patronized as "light-skinned" if not outright ignored.

"Latino" means Latin and includes Portuguese, French, Italian, and Romanian heritage in addition to Spanish, both in Latin America and Latin Europe and even the Latinized regions of Africa (Cote d'Ivoire, DRC, Angola, etc.). It does not mean "Hispanic only" and is certainly in no way indicative of race.

Asians do not consider themselves white and they are a force to be reckoned with because of their viability.  Hispanics have a special word used to refer to Whites: "gringo".  I've never met a Mexican who considerd himself "white".  They most often refer to themselves as brown.  Their enthnicity is how they identify themselves and they are quite proud of it.  A gulf exists between what's on paper and what constitutes reality. The people doing the extrapolation may have ulterior motives.  Society evolves and the direction it goes in is not necessarily predictable. Randomeness and aberrations are among things that have an impact.  Does anybody really know what the make-up of this country will be in 50 years?  That super-volcano in Yellowstone National park is just waiting to erupt and devastate America's landscape.

my grandfather is related to Coronado one of the first spanish explorers of north america and he has married two non hispanic white women in his lifetime.  He has three biological children and they all appear white.  His grandchildren, all 5 of them, appear white.  Yet these five young people are also hispanic and counted as such.  My anecdote is an example of how the white population in America will remain stable (or grow) yet at the same time it will have a more pronounced spanish flavor, pardon the pun.  Not to worry white people out there, America will remain majority "white" for a very long time thanks to all those migrants from mexico, etc....(my grandfather is also an immigrant from mexico, or his parents were anyway).

For those of you that think my story is in the minority, pardon the pun, a full 20% of all hispanic births every year in America are actually the cross between a hispanic parent and a non-hispanic white parent.  The vast majority of these babies appear white yet are counted as hispanic.  Again, EVERY single year.  There are about 900,000 hispanics born in America every year.  Roughly 180,000 (20%) of those are really non-hispanic white counted as hispanic.  The other 720,000 hispanic babies are of unknown appearance but if its true that 52% of U.S. born hispanics marry non-hispanics (i.e. whites), then a majority of hispanics being white at the same time is not only possible but likely...hence, how America in 2050 or 2060, etc will still claim a strong white majority (70%+).  The only change is that a lot of those whites will have spanish surnames or be the offspring of "mixed" unions with non-hispanic whites.

A white is a white, folks.  If all these whites came straight outta Spain, would anyone care?  or England, or anywhere else in europe for that matter?  Again, a white is a white no matter where it comes from.  Welcome to a new but same America, one with a strong white majority.

For whatever reason, Whites ascended to the top of the pecking order and have stayed there, and if what "Jeff" says is true, will continue to be there, which is not so far fetched. Look at how the white minority continued to control and enslave South Africa, not to mention the control exercised by a white plantation owner over dozens of his slaves in America.  Realistically speaking, what does this say?  . The only conclusion I can come to is that the aliens who visited this country and determined what direction it would take were, themselves, white. Or, for the religiously inclined, God is white and looks out for his own. Get on board, black folks, and accelerate your quest to intermarry with whites so in a couple of generations your descendants can maybe get a little piece of the pie by getting in where they fit in.

I am also toying with the idea that what we refer to as Life" is all a crazy dream that is originating in the nap of a snoring entity who is to us, what we are to ants.  I am also becoming less of a polemicist and more of an Existentialist.  Fuck everything.  I don't give a damn. <_<

OMG, Cynique. You are using the "F" word. My girl, you just made my day. Black, White, Brown, Pink or Blue. Money, lots of money, is at the top!!!! And guess what, it ain't even green. It is something called plastic and the color is platinum. Of course, platinum is silvery white.

I have frequently injected the "F" word into my posts, Shirley,  because it is special and there are times when no other word will do. Yes, wealth is concentrated in the white upper class.  Black folks, like the noveau riche that many of them are,  may have some bling but very few of them possess the inherited wealth that has been passed on for generations.

I have heard/read this so often it's laughable. The white population of America will not be 'minority' in 30 or 40 years. Should their population decrease to those levels, TPTB will simply designate another of today's minorities as "white" and retain their majority status. I say another because the most glaring example of a clearly NOT-WHITE people who are labeled as 'white' are blacker-than-the-soles-of-my-shoes, East Indians. White is their racial designation. Same for Arabs of a darker shade of brown than me. I mean, history tells us this is what white people do. A hundred years ago, the Irish were not considered to be white. Nor were Italians. Certainly not Jews. All that will happen is that the white PTB - who have the POWER to name populations and designate race - will bring another (currently non-white) ethnic into the White fold to continue their numerical dominance.

All the "brown" peoples in the U.S. will be designated as White before whites admit to be a minority.... and all the "brown" peoples in the U.S. will feel they have arrived and CHEER! America is predicated on there being white people - and black people, i.e., the 'other'.  If anything, in 30 or 40 years, Blacks will be the ONLY minority.

Of course, making all non-AFRICANS "white" will be a last resort. No, the quickest, easiest way to maintain their numerical majority is for TPTB to simply open the floodgates of Immigration to Eastern Europeans. Quiet as it's kept, the 2nd largest group of illegals in this country are the Polish. It has been said that should the U.S. institute Open Immigration, Poland would be a vast wasteland within a week. Don't fool yourselves. Eastern Europeans would flock to this country in a heartbeat, if they could, and the "people of  color" in this country would cheer if they were considered white. Which leaves black people out there, on our own, the perpetual Other. As Dr. John Henrik Clarke said (of black people): "When you look in the mirror, if you don't see a friend, you don't HAVE any friends." This country was set up on Europeans and the Other. The descendants of the originals plan on keeping it that way.

You're right. Puerto Ricans are given the option of listing their children as White when they are born. I didn't know this until studying Lupe Feliciano of the Last Poets. In a documentary he explained that when he was born his mother had the option of listing him as White like all Puerto Ricans are given.

The so-called white race is an artificial designation instituted by those of Caucasian nationalities in order to enable discrimination. I wasn't aware that Eastern Indians are labeled "white" as opposed to "Asian", a label which carries no negative stigma.

Irish, Italians, Poles, Jewish  immigrants were able to circumvent discrimination by anglicizing  their names  and  infiltrating the ranks of whiteness, something  they could do if they had fair skin and straight hair, which many of them did. Politics were also a factor because descendants of these ethnic groups soon gained a measure of power by forming  voting blocs.

For whatever reasons, people of the Negroid stock seem entrenched at the bottom of the totem pole.

Hi, Cynique! Name's Sara. :)

The reason people of the Negroid stock, i.e., those of African descent, ARE entrenched at the bottom of the totem pole is because we are black. How can you have white without black? Caucasians rule the world and we are their Other, thus wherever you go in the world, whites are on top and their Other, blacks, are on the bottom.  No accident, nothing mysterious about it.

Btw, Irish, Poles, Italians did not circumvent anything. The ruling class, White Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASP) conferred the label of "white" on them. Irish, Poles and Italians, remember, are in the main, Catholic. Jews, whom the intelligentsia at the turn of the 20th century considered to be "feeble-minded" were, as well, conferred "whiteness." And if you think about  it, with all the Mc's (as in McCoy), ...bergs (as in Goldberg) and ...ski's (as in Warshawski), and names ending in a vowel there are in the U.S. TODAY, few of those ethnics Anglicized their names. Case in point -  Antonin Scalia, Italian-American justice of the Supreme Court.

Up until around the mid 1960s, it was very common especially in the entertainment world for Nationalities of the Jewish religion to voluntarily change their names and pass for WASPS, thus circumventing anti-semitism .  Many ethnics, fresh off the boat, were given "American" names at Ellis Island when they were passing through Immigrations because authorities couldn't pronounce or spell their foreign names. Irish people voluntarily made distinctions among themselves, the "acceptable" ones being referred to as "lace curtain" Irish.  As far as Catholics were concerned, they were not in "the main".  That's why it wasn't until 1963 that a Catholic, JFK, was elected president because of the prevailing misconception that a Catholic could conceivably be under the jurisdiction of the Pope .  Keep in mind that the "P" in WASP stands for Protestant.

LOL I didn't think it was necessary to go into detail about the Negroid stock referring to those of  African descent or why they are at the bottom of the totem poll, because it's so obvious.

Well, there are so many factors that figure into why Blacks are at the bottom of the totem pole, that people can choose "whatever reason" they lean toward. LOL
