Are We "Tribalistic" By Nature?
frankster Of course they drew a distinction....they said it was in the heart - the little brain in the heart. In quotes mind you. Because it's not to be taken literally. Yes....that why it is considered a brain - it acts and functions like the brain Oh, so it's not THE brain...just A brain, lol. Do you have any post and link to back up those statements are are they just pure pablum Do you need to see a link to believe me when I say the the "little brain" in the heart doesn't have a pineal gland nor is it attached to the spinal cord?

ICE Raids Lead to Protests in Los Angeles
One of the major problems isn't the Latinos themselves but the LOVE so many of our people have for Latinos and how they look. A lot of our people know what Latinos don't like them, but they are SEXUALLY attracted to them because their skin is usually light and their hair tends to be straight and that sexual attraction overrides their common sense and ego. They'll put up with abuse, insults, and disrespect hoping that they can find "that one" who will love them and accept them. Too many of our people have this mentality, and it makes them vulnerable to be taken advantage of. If most of our people TRULY loved who they were and how they looked, they would have no desire what so ever to "unite" with anybody else except our own. Why? It wouldn't be desired, anyway.

“There is no such thing as a race.” —Dr. John Henrik Clarke
Troy Dude the faulty concept of "race" is what has created the confusion. So people shouldn't call themselves by "race" anymore because that's making confusion? Ok...so how SHOULD they identify themselves? How should the people "formerly known as Black people" now identify ourselves? No it won't. People will always find a reason to justify their evil. Taking "race" out of the mix will eliminate that justification from their bag of tricks. If that happens, do you think RACISM will go away? Generations of people would have lived and died without ever believing that they were inferior (or superior) because of their so-called race. As I mentioned in another thread, many Native Americans ONLY knew other Native Americans and didn't come into contact with White folks. The same can be said of many Africans. Race wasn't an issue for them because they only KNEW one race. But let a White man show up.... Let some of the women star pinching him on the chin and try to have little yellow curly head babies with him...and see how it throws the entire society into chaos and confusion and fights get started...lol.

Race: Cambridge Dictionary Definition
ProfD The sticking point in the debate you're having with others is the difference between how race has been defined and scientific reality (genetic). They MADE that their argument when I left them with no choice BUT to accept multiple races as a socially accepted reality...lol. The system has been used against Black people in one way or another for 100s of years. Facts. Denying who we are IN that system...or atleast what we're labeled as...isn't going to dismantle it; any more than denying the fact that a person is lactose intolerant will stop them from farting after a glass of milk...lol. Deny it all you want.....lol...keep drinking it and see what happens. Troy Yeah, but they are the ones who created the racial categories that you hold onto so tightly. A lot of it comes from the fact that they were the ones who went around exploring and meddling in other's affairs so they were EXPOSED to different races. A lot of Native Americans ONLY knew about Native Americans, so there was no need for them to come up with the concept of "race". A lot of Africans ONLY knew about other Africans, so there was no need for them to come up with the concept of "race" either. When White people went around the globe seeing different people who didn't look like them....or eachother...they came up with a way to classify them into groups. right, but we support this buy into their scheme by continuing to buy into the unfounded idea. What's the viable alternative?

And on cue, you have Latinos now calling on Black folks to come help them out:

Race: Cambridge Dictionary Definition
Troy The fact of the matter is that you would consider Homer a white man. Well, if THIS is Homer Plessy....then he IS a White man, regardless as to what he was "classified" as or "called". Fuck THEIR opinions and judgements, I go by nature and sight. ProfD Your point was made all along to the extent that race and racial classifications have been defined. Thank you! I thought the point was quite obvious, especially when I'm constantly posting dictionary definitions over and over again and they're being ignored...lol. Race exists because we accept and use it to classify ourselves. The funny thing is mostly Black and white people identify themselves by color. And I'm glad we do. White people may use it as a way to separate themselves from us and claim their superiority but WE can use it to unite ourselves and distinguish ourselves so that we can recognize eachother and rally around this. How many times have you went into a mostly or nearly all White area and LOOKED for another Black person to "relate" to just to feel a little more safe or comfortable. Yall make eye contact or even say "whaddup" and give a little head nod just to acknowledge eachother. The baddest and most stuck up sista in the world...if there are NO other Black folks around...will often give you extra eye contact and gravitate near you for social protection out of instinct, lol. People tend to naturally unite with and gravitate with those they look like.

Troy A clear definition of race that refers to it in biological terms: 3 biology : a group within a species that is distinguishable (as morphologically, genetically, or behaviorally) from others of the same species https://www.merriam-webster.com › dictionary › race It's right there in plain text. Go see it for yourself. Just because SOME or even MOST scientists will reject the concept on race on genetic terms, the dictionary clearly says genetics...among other things...can be used to distinguish racial classifications. Is that a contradiction? It is curious you never reference any scientific sources for a definition of race. Why? The point isn't how "scientific" the existence of multiple races are, the point is...THEY EXIST. Do I need to scientific reference to label the different flavors of ice cream?

“There is no such thing as a race.” —Dr. John Henrik Clarke
Troy YES! No sir, because that would just cause too much confusion. As long as White people exist, they WILL know who they are and find a way to separate themselves from you. Call it "race" or "ethnicity" or "distinctism" or whatever the hell you want to call it, but they will just establish another way to distinguish themselves from the rest of the people of color. Getting rid of racial categories will NOT get rid of racism any more than getting rid off medical terms and tossing out the medical dictionary will cure all diseases. All it will do is leave so many people in darkness and confusion about what's happening to them.

Minister. Louis. Farrakhan
But will his self-esteem....lol. You know how some shit that happens to you as a child has a way of haunting some people even into adulthood. What do you think happened to THIS self-hating clown that made him act the way he does towards Black youth...lol.

Time for a New Pope
Troy OK since you reject the fact: The science has already shown that race as a result of genetics do not exist.... Who said I rejected this? The fact is.... While some "science" may show that there is no genetic basis for race; other references like the dictionary DO. Check out this definition of Race: An official definition of race from an accepted source clearly states there is a biological and genetic bases for racial categorization.

Minister. Louis. Farrakhan
No, they are....lol. But barbers are so plentiful now that very few kids HAVE jacked-up hair cuts. ...or what they used to call a "Timmy" or "looking busted" when I was a kid, lol. It's rare to find that now because even the poorest kid can afford a fade and a lot of them are growing dreadlocks. If you walk down the street with a jacked up hair line and hair cut today you're assumed to be an African who just came here a few weeks ago....lol.

“There is no such thing as a race.” —Dr. John Henrik Clarke
Troy So because of a poorly constructed system we should throw out the entire concept? Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water, lol. I support racial categories but I don't agree with the one drop rule either. Guess what? I believe we as AfroAmericans have a right to devise OUR OWN racial categories to suit our perspectives and how we see society and the world around us.

Race: Cambridge Dictionary Definition
That's not THE point....that's A point....that you and frankser like to focus on. Since you can no longer say that race or different races "don't exist"....because I've provided the clear definition that they do as well as multiple scientific articles proving that they do and are accepted...now yall resort to simply calling it a "social construct" not based in science. You can call it a "social construct" all day long. I'll give you that. But it still exists....and that's MY point.

Time for a New Pope
Troy Again, who said I disagreed with ANY of the above statements you're quoting from him? You're cherry picking certain statements that YOU agree with and asking me do I agree with or disagree with them; but those statements aren't the point of contention between me and frankster. But if you're trying to start some shit....let me throw you a bone. The only one of those statements that MAY be considered a point I'd disagree on is the first one about race as a result of genetics not existing. Race is a category that can be based on many different things, physical traits...which are genetic...are one of those things race CAN be based on. This has already been established. But the flip side is you can base it on things OTHER than genetics, at which genetics would play no role.

Minister. Louis. Farrakhan
He HAS a father in his life, but he's in the "belly of the beast". The closest he has to a father right now is his grandfather....my brother. She's got a White boyfriend (here we go again...lol) that she met in church and he convinced her that race doesn't matter and giving her jacked up advice about a lot of things but she listens to him. Now the boy is running around with his head looking like barbed wire with an unblended fade. AND he goes to a mostly Black school....so you know he's being clowned on, lol.

Troy @Pioneer1 what specifically in the quoted statement you disagree with? Who said I disagreed with ANY of those statements?

“There is no such thing as a race.” —Dr. John Henrik Clarke
Troy No problem, I'll just delete it. The problem is there is no way to do this objectively. Why not? What's stopping you or I...in most cases...from clearly pointing out and drawing a distinction between a White person and Black person. Sometimes there is ambiguity...we understand this. But most times there isn't and the distinction is clear. Same with sex. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish an actual man from an actual woman, but most times it's crystal clear. Sure, but you can't do this based upon how one looks. Again, MOST TIMES...you can. Not all the time, but for the most part.

Minister. Louis. Farrakhan
ProfD Agreed. I attended both Million Man Marches. They were excellent gatherings of Black men. I don't know about the subsequent ones but the first one was a truly historic event. I didn't go by myself but with a group of brothers of different religions and backgrounds from the Detroit area. That movie "Get On The Bus" by Spike Lee came very close to how it felt traveling to the event. I didn't see one fight. Not one argument. If you heard a lot of noise or commotion going on it was bruthaz having a good time laughing loud or maybe the FOI drilling and marching but no hostility what so ever. And I was there all day! There were different designated spots around the city where the busses were scheduled to leave from and arrive back to. When we got back to the city there were people of all ages but mostly women crowded around in these different spots to welcome us back and cheer us as we stepped off the bus. The media was also there doing interviews and videos. It was truly beautiful. They said we were "glowing" when we got back...lol. Troy I don't recall reading anything they have written indicating that. Neither ProfD nor myself are but there are a lot of people under 60 and especially under 40 who actually are all over the internet criticizing the Civil Rights Movement and even the Civil Rights Generation. Much of it comes from ignorance and ingratitude. Like a lot of spoiled children, they talk a lot of shit because they ain't been through anything. They didn't grow up under open White hostility and racism so as far as they're concerned...it's something of the distant past akin to Slavery itself. I got into an argument with a niece of mine a few weeks ago because she didn't like how me and my brother sat up and talked about White people. She said it was "racist". It started over us warning her not to take her son to a White barber because he'll fuck up his hair. She didn't want to listen and he did...lol.

“There is no such thing as a race.” —Dr. John Henrik Clarke
Well, the fact is White people...aka Contr I mean....uh....aka Caucasians....lol....will know who THEY are and know who AREN'T one of them regardless as to the terms we choose to use or how we choose to categorize ourselves. Race and PROPER racial classifications clarify things and makes them easier and less deceptive in my opinion. When I talk to people from nations where racial classification is almost non-existent between the people and the races are highly mixed and ambiguous like in Cuba and Somalia....there's a lot mistreatment and a lot of confusion and frustration as a result of it. People often ARE victims of racism and colorism but can't express or articulate this because officially...."everybody's Cuban". I see this at work. A lot of Black Latinos aren't getting respect from the lighter Meztizo Latinos...but they don't see themselves the same as AfroAmericans either so they don't know what to do with themselves. Dark skinned kinky haired Somalis are often oppressed by light skinned Somalis with curly hair who look mixed with Arab.....but since everybody there is "Somali" they can't call it racism. So now....what do you call it? Tribalism? Although much of it IS raced based indirectly because it's about who is closer to White folks. Even a lot of ethnic conflicts is really race based. In Rwanda...it was said that the Tutsis were closer to the "White race" than the Hutus...which lead to conflict. I like the idea of being able to separate White people and identify them. I also like the idea of being able to separate Black/African people and identify ourselves from other groups and then being able to separate my ethnicity as an FBA/ADOS from the rest of Africans when need be and focus on our own local issues. Some people are more analytical and detail oriented than others, so racial classification is right up their alley...so to speak, lol.

Time for a New Pope
Here you said you don't accept the idea of race....period. You didn't specify in this case. However in other cases you DID specify your acceptance of it as a social construct. Then you turn around and declare there is only on race and tie genetics and biology to it after denying it's genetic and biological component...lol. First note it is an Action Ok? Sexism is an action....like Racism. You are actively DO, or SAYING, or THINKING something to or about someone else. Now what's your point? Now you're muddying the waters here.... I said: He's hated because of his sexual ORIENTATION...being gay. You said: But he is still a man...thats hated by other men - that is same sex hate I said: But that's not sexism. You said: Yes it is....he is not fulfilling his social role. Refering to this definition: Sexual orientation is NOT about your "social role" but who you PREFER to have sex with, regardless of what you actually do. Acting like a woman and having sex with another man are behaviors that are disliked...true. They are NOT the traditional social role of a man...true. However if a man doesn't act like a woman and doesn't have sex at all...if he's known to be a homosexual he will still be disliked under homophobia. Why? Because the focus is on the man's orientation/preference. So he is a victim of homophobia but not not necessarily sexism because his behavior is irrelevant once his sexual preference is known.

Are We "Tribalistic" By Nature?
frankster It is serious....they published it in pubmed Again, the term was meant to be taken figuratively which is why they put "little brain" in quotes. And YOU know this too, which is why you said: Yes that is why it is a brain.....because it has neurons like what's in the brain. You didn't say: "like what's in the OTHER brain". You didn't draw a distinction; because you recognized that in actuality the human body only has ONE brain. In some ways it acts and function like the brain....hence it's called "little brain" Ok, now look at what you just said (typed...lol) In some ways it acts and functions like THE brain. You yourself know it's not THE brain or even A brain, but just something similar or kind of like one. Other parts with groups of neurons that may act as control mechanism may simulate certain aspects of the brain but it's not the same as THE brain. It doesn't govern sight, smell, taste, or have a spinal cord attached to it. It doesn't have a Pineal gland. ...because it's not actually a brain. See you around... Aight den....holla.

- Minister. Louis. Farrakhan
Troy The short answer is I really don’t know Ok, well was it in the hundreds or thousands? If not, then it doesn't compare to what Minister Farrakhan has done for decades. So he deserves credit for that much. The million man March was a long time ago and you’d be hard pressed to find anything that’s come of it that has lasted until today. The fact that he could bring over a million Black men together in one place at one time and not only give them a positive message but there were absolutely NO reports of fights or violence at that event is "miraculous" in my opinion. I was there and witnessed how beautiful the event was for myself. For that event alone, he deserves praise and honor. I'm not saying he's perfect, but I honor him for the positive impact he's had on our community since the 50s. ProfD Unlike the Nation of Islam resurrection under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, I doubt the organization will ever be as strong or relevant after him. Sometimes the "conditions" produce the man. One of the reasons the Nation of Islam, Black Panthers, and other powerful Black organizations aren't as prominent in America or even the Black community today is for 2 major reasons: 1. So-called Integration. There isn't a "Black community" like it was before so they don't have the audience they had to preach to and motivate into action. But social media and the internet seems to be bringing our community BACK together in many ways; especially the FBA movement. 2. They did their jobs so well that White people are less OPENLY hostile as they were in the past. Organizations like the Nation of Islam and the Black Panthers scared the shit out of the average White person to the point that they stopped being openly hostile. But once this stopped happening....a lot of the organizations became less aggressive as well. The Nation of Islam under the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was far more strict and aggressive than under Minister Farrakhan because the racism at that time was far more harsh and open. The conditions often produce the men necessary to deal with them. But don't worry, Trump may bring the "conditions" back....lol. - Minister. Louis. Farrakhan
