Dollar Tree Is Not the Same Anymore
Troy Yes sir, several times...lol. Speaking of which..... I wouldn't have been surprised at a Kresge or Woolworth's being in Harlem but I WOULD be surprised if they opened up a Walmart in Harlem. Most stores like K-Mart and Wal-Mart and Costco like to open up stores by building their own buildings from scratch and Manhattan is far too dense and expensive for them to do that unless they turned it into a "Walmart sky scraper"....lol.

You didn't have to look it up....I told you that already. But you didn't trust my "anecdotal" information that I arrived at by personal experiences and observation....and instead went with "official" sources....lol.

Personal Observations vs Statistics
ProfD Nothing stops us from doing our own research and data collection. I was eventually heading in that direction. I was taking the more "scenic route" with my questioning who is collecting the information and why to illustrate why so many of our people shouldn't be blindly trusting it. Eventually WE need to be collecting the information and compiling the data we need and use. Troy This is why often your arguments become flawed, no one is talking about arbitrary figures stop setting up straw men. In many situations, they may as well be. Let me ask you a question..... Every day on the news there's a new poll out claiming "this" or "that" for things from politics, to religion, to food, to television shows and ratings, to thoughts on the economy, to race relations, etc... When was the last time YOU were contacted for a survey? Besides richardmurray's....lol. Again, you’re arguing semantics. Your definition of unemployment is not the same as the numbers released by the government because of all the things that you described. There are a variety of reasons why they count the number of unemployed people the way that they do. I know. And ONE of those reasons is to DECEIVE and CONFUSE the public about how high the unemployment rate is and convince the public that the economy isn't as bad as it really is. still, we are left with the fact that you have no idea what the percentage of unemployed people are the best you can do is used to date that you have available account for any discrepancies that you feel are in the data than come up with the rough estimate, but again without the data all you can do is pull numbers out of your ass You don't have to go to EITHER extreme....make up numbers or LIMIT the actual figures. Simply count...as best you can....those adults who are ACTUALLY unemployed. It's not perfect, but atleast it would be MORE accurate. For example, you have no clue based upon your personal observations how many people are in the United States right now. In fact, no one knows exactly how many people are here. There’s a census taken every 10 years and that gives us a pretty good estimate. far better than any of us could Divine from walking around and making our own observations. no one not even the US government asserts that that census data are 100% accurate. Using your logic then it’s false and let’s just throw it out because it’s not a fact. But the reality is the number is good enough to do what we need to do with it in most cases. I agree that simply walking around and looking wouldn't give us an accurate estimate of the people in the U.S. I also think the Census method....though not perfect...is MORE accurate than the method for attaining the unemployment rate.

Should US Cities Impose Summer Curfews on Teens?
It won't help because just like "laws" don't stop career criminals from breaking them....curfews won't stop juvenile delinquents from ignoring them. The "good" kids will obey them and stay at home. The rowdy kids will carry on business as usual. Infact, a imposing a curfew on them will ENCOURAGE them to challenge it to show eachother how "bad" they are. What kind of lame ass nigga go stay at home on a hot summer night anyway...lol. "Hey girl, what you doing?" ---------- "No, I'm at home." ------------- "Yeah....I'm....yeah...no...I'm at the crib". ------------- "Ah girl you KNOW I want to but the news said that if you're under 17 you have to be -HELLO???? HELLO???" ((dial her back)) "Hey, did you hang up on m-HELLO????? HELLO???"

I'm not sure if they were everywhere in the nation but in the Detroit area we had a cheap store called Kresge's. It turned eventually turned into K-mart which IS nationwide. But I remember the Kresge's as a kid where you could go inside and not only shop but dine. Every store had a little hamburger stand where you could order burgers, fries, hot dogs, salads and other lunch foods. Maybe it's because I was just a kid but I LOVED their cheap ass burgers...lol. And this particular store used to put RELISH on their hamburgers instead of pickles...and I LOVED that shit, lol.

Are We "Tribalistic" By Nature?
frankster Same difference.. It ain't the "same difference" man...lol. Less violent isn't the same as TOLERANT and AMICABLE, any more than less than 2 months pregnant with no "baby bump" showing, is the same as NOT pregnant at all. I did not say they are more violent....just that they are more conflicts battles and wars in S. America than in Africa. Help a brutha out.... What war is going on in South America? What determines Actuality?? It's current state of "being". If it BE/IS now...it's actual. Surprisingly we agree....maybe not for the same reasons - or Listen, as long as we agree...I'll take THAT, lol. Who care what roads we took, as long as we arrived at the same destination.

Personal Observations vs Statistics
I know many will say that not trusting "the data" or "the statistics" sounds like something a Trump supporting MAGA would say. However a lot of Trump's appeal.... Infact, a lot of the appeal Conservatives have with the poor and working class in general is that they appeal to people's "common sense" with plain talk. OFCOURSE the shit can be manipulated. So why SHOULD I trust some arbitrary figure "claimed" to be gathered by dilligent research? There used to be a time OUR people were the Conspiracy theorists and didn't trust the system because we knew it was subject to human error and manipulation. Now it seems so many of us...are going along WITH the program and those who are bucking "the system" are Trump supporters who question EVERY fucking thing including "the data" and "the media". I know they are racists and tend to support the data and media that supports THEM and THEIR agenda. But atleast they are CLAIMING to question the crap we're being fed in the media. I don't see a lot of Black people on television and in the media doing that anymore. Troy We discuss this from time to time. Of course, your observations can be manipulated. The oft cited problem with "eyewitness" testimony is reflective of this. True. I won't argue with this. But from a PERSONAL point of view.... Me knowing myself. I'll trust what I've WITNESSED before I'll trust some arbitrary figures some White folks put on a damn screen as if it were the gospel truth. How do we KNOW that shit is true? Just like anecdotes can be false, those collecting the data can lie too. They're human. Of course, data can be presented in a misleading way or simply misinterpreted, but data beats anecdotes. Not MY anecdotes because I don't lie to myself Ofcourse I wouldn't expect YOU to simply accept them just because....but as I said, for PERSONAL satisfaction I'd rather rely on my personal observations. And guess what.... If YOU or ProfD said something that went against the "official story" or was contrary to "the data"...I'd believe YOU TWO before I'd believe it. I used my personal JUDGEMENT when deciding who or what to believe. It rarely fails me. Perhaps but that is a different argument. Lying whether it is in an anecdote or data is useless for increasing understanding. Agreed. If you understand what is being counted, then you can derive reasonable and logical conclusions from the data. How can you derive a "reasonable" assessment of how many people are actually unemployed if they're OBVIOUSLY not counting large portions of those who are actually UNEMPLOYED???? ....we aren't counting housewives. ....we aren't counting homeless adults. ....we aren't counting those who've been out of work longer than 6 months. Well who the hell ARE they counting??? In terms of unemployment how would your personal observations be superior to understanding any aspect of unemployment? It wouldn't be superior on a LARGE scale because I don't know enough people let alone their personal employment situation to arrive at such a grand conclusion. However my understanding of their ERRONEOUS methods of gathering information WOULD help the researcher by raising alarms about how that information was gathered and why it shouldn't be trusted or even consdered. To answer your question in plain street language: "I may not know what it IS.... But I know what it AIN'T." It ain't the figures THEY'RE giving us. ProfD All of the data stated can be compiled and added to the analysis. If it's lies...or half truths, it ain't "data". Data is facts. If the figures are false, they aren't facts. Just a bunch of damn numbers on a screen or sheet that you're expected to BELIEVE and accept as gospel truth.

Personal Observations vs Statistics
ProfD To say statistics are real assumes that the figures are truthful and accurate. How is this confirmed? I believe some of the information in these statistics are not only outright fabricated depending on their respective agendas, but the deception and inaccuracy of some of these figures have been INSTITUTIONALIZED to be inaccurate. Take unemployment figures for example........ It's been known for a few decades now that when they calculate the unemployment rate...they don't count EVERY adult who is actually unemployed. For examples: -If you're locked up...you don't count. -If you're disabled or sick...you don't count. Now some may say those exceptions are acceptable....even though they are STILL adults who are part of the system and should be counted in my opinion. However..... -If you've been unemployed for OVER 6 MONTHS...you don't count! -If you've STOPPED LOOKING FOR WORK....you don't count! And in some cases...they ONLY count those actually receiving unemployment checks as being "unemployed". So if you quit or got fired under certain circumstances, or your unemployment insurance ran out.....you're not really "unemployed" according to the government! How can you trust statistics and figures arrived at by such methods?

Race And Sexuality (Yeah I'm back on that 'ish again...lol): "Vanilla" Iceberg Slims?
ProfD Broke, homeless, locked up or locked in low wage jobs stem from poor choices being made whether it's not taking education seriously or believing crime pays. For the most part, I agree. However this still supports my assertion that our people today may not be better off...collectively...than they were 50 years ago. Those FBA/AfroAmericans should have been creating businesses and buildings institutions for future generations to work. As it stands, most FBA/AfroAmericans have to depend white folks for every crumb of their daily bread. That was a failure on our part. Facts Making ends meet will never lead to building wealth. It insures the continuity of poverty. Perhaps building wealth isn't the goal of a great number of people. Just making ends meet and enjoying the here and NOW is their main focus. Some FBA/AfroAmericans were similar to Hispanics today. They worked hard to have a little bit. Plenty of fun though. Interesting comparison. As mentioned above, that's by deisgn. The question is why did FBA/AfroAmericans allow themselves to be disproportionately affected by it. I've offered a few answers already but you didn't care too much or them, lol. Understood. Statistics show that FBA/AfroAmericans are collectively wealthier and better off than decades ago. It's easy to romanticize the past because 1) there's nothing that can be done to change it and 2) allows folks to do nothing about right and the future. Another reason is when you've LIVED it and SEEN if for yourself, it's hard for you to be fooled or lied to about what really happened by a bunch of numbers on a screen. It's one thing to tell a 25 year old that AfroAmericans are living in the best times since Slavery. But tell a 70 or 80 year old that, who is STILL collecting pension checks from his factory job that he had for 40 years making the equivalent of $35 an hour plus benefits -that working for near minimum wage at Target...despite his Bachelor Degree....is "better off", lol. It's relative. Families are smaller too. And in many cases, non existent I realize you're not a huge fan of researching statistics preferring instead to lean into your own observations. However, the numbers are available. Great observation...lol. Depending on who these stats are coming from, I don't trust them. Anybody can put out a bunch of numbers, how do we know they're accurate or even close? For DECADES during election season they've had polls and done stats on the contemporary employment and unemployment rates in the U.S. But I've NEVER been contacted by Gallop Poll or any other information/statistic gathering organization either by phone or in person asking me my employment status. Have you? Yet they keep coming out with all these employment "numbers" and "figures" and "polls" that we're supposed to accept. How can the situation with AfroAmericans be better if MORE of our people are locked up or economically stifled from getting good jobs, loans, and proper housing by their criminal records today than 50 or 60 years ago? How can that be? Where are all these "Magical Negroes" popping up from, who show up JUST IN TIME for the cameras and statisticians as examples of how successful we are today?

Personal Observations vs Statistics
Why do I place more value on my personal experiences and observations than on statistics? Statistics and studies can be manipulated and fabricated; unless I'm drunk or high (which is extremely rare) my observations generally can't be. I understand that MY observations and experiences can't always be proved to others, however I take this position for my own personal satisfaction. Especially knowing how the racists love to manipulate figures, stats, numbers, and skew information to fit their agendas.

Are We "Tribalistic" By Nature?
frankster Of the seven continents Africa is ranked the fifth in terms of war hostilities.....that means they are more tolerant than four. Or less IN-tolerant....depending on how you look at it. But I believe I asked you WHAT wars are going on in North or South America that makes them more violent than the conflicts and wars going on in Africa right now? Yes .....Gaza and the Ukraine are significantly more dangerous than South Central LA and North Philly. I agree. But that doesn't make South Central or North Philly NOT dangerous. The Reality of one doesn't CHANGE the Reality of another. Proof of Citizenship or birth papers are the ultimate determinants of citizenship. False Again, proof doesn't determine Actuality. That may be so... How did we come to "ALREADY KNOWN" or "initally we KNEW"? Perhaps because HE Who CREATED them told us early on.

ProfD I blame it on Love & Hip-Hop [pick a city] and celebrities. I know fake eyelashes can be tastefully done. But, leave it up to Black folks to take that sh8t over top. Perhaps, but they don't do anything on a woman for me...UNLESS...maybe...she got into some sort of accident and lost her natural lashes and NEEDED fake ones to compensate. Other than that, eyelashes don't make or break a sista for me. Eyelashes start out as filler and she ends up looking like Thriller. I've heard those very thick and ridiculous looking ones described as "cum catchers". Our society focuses on beautiful people and pushes a bunch of sh8t to get others to buy into it. I think MOST societies place value on beautiful people. It's a human trait. We like looking at beautiful things, beautiful people, beautiful animals. It's called "eye candy" for a reason....lol. The deception comes when you promote certain products promising that if you use THAT product, it will make YOU beautiful also. Or you'll end up looking like the person on the picture. It's like those wave pomade cans where they'll put some dude with naturally wavy hair on the can suggesting that if YOU use this product on your nappy hair...it will turn your hair into his, lol. I remember growing up with two sisters. Everyone in the neighborhood agreed the girls looked like senior citizens despite they were children.🤣 When the girls became active teenagers, their looks did not improve. However, there was a couple dudes in the hood who had no problem creeping with them at night. Of course, they wouldn't admit it. Another beauty-challenged girl in the neighborhood got pregnant and had a baby. Turns out one of my friends was the father of that child. People will do whatever it takes to satisfy their wants, needs and desires. Especially in the dark. I think every neighborhood has stories like this...lol. But as I've gotten older and observed more, the fact TRUTH (frankster...lol) I realized is that there's a difference between beauty and attractiveness. Those girls may not have been beautiful, but they were certainly sexually attractive. This relates to what we were discussing in another thread concerning "value" and how value is determined. A man may choose a "beautiful" woman to wear on his arm in public because he values her beauty and how it increases his social status; but choose an "ugly" woman as his favorite fuck-buddy because regardless of how she looks she's good in bed and he values her sexual skills. He values BOTH women...but for different reasons. Cynique stfu, Loser. If I did....you wouldn't like it. If I stopped posting, your squint-eyed ass would leave the site...lol.

Race And Sexuality (Yeah I'm back on that 'ish again...lol): "Vanilla" Iceberg Slims?
ProfD Absolutely. There are more millionaires and a few billionaires among Gen-Xers than every generation before it combined. While that is true, there seems to be a heavy IMBALANCE. Meaning.... While there are a lot of millionaires and a few billionaires, there are millions of AfroAmericans who are either broke, homeless, locked up, or locked in low wage jobs. Where as say in the 50s, 60s, and 70s not only did you have the Black professionals....as you have today...but you had a lot more WORKING CLASS Black folks with jobs that allowed them to buy homes, cars, and take care of their families. And even among the POOR Black folks....which you had a lot of...if they weren't on welfare they could get jobs and make ends meet. In other words, it seems as if the wealth were more evenly spread in the community than today where things tend to be more "extreme" with a large percentage of our people actually in a destitute situation. Just the incarceration rates of AfroAmericans ALONE should signal that our people aren't doing as good today as they were say 50 or 60 years ago. You didn't have that high of a percentage of AfroAmericans locked up or caught up in the criminal justice system. There are statistics to prove Gen-Xers have been able to accumulate more wealth and live a better life than previous generations. Ok, now remember I'm focused....not on Generation Xers in general but SPECIFICALLY AfroAmerican Generation Xers. Surely, family structures and relationships are different now. Folks are more spread out. The family structures seem to be in worse condition than 50 years ago. Over the past 30-40 years, one person can afford to run the whole show i.e. buy a house, vehicle, clothes, shoes, groceries, pay utilities and take vacations. In SOME cases, not most. If they are talented or degreed....yes. What percentage of our people fit that description? Many...yes...but what PERCENTAGE? Perhaps a community where 85% of our people have working class jobs but are able to hold down stable families and household would be better than a community where 25% have talents and degrees that afford them a nice lifestyle but the other 75% are wallowing in dysfunction and destitution. Other groups of people have their own share of dysfunction. It's part of the reason they fled their home countries. This is true. Thanks for reminding me because sometimes I focus so much on the problems of our people I ignore the fact that other groups are also dealing with their dysfunctions. Last week just down the street the police were called to a house where some Latino families were piled up together and a major fight broke out where machetes were apparently used...lol. Interestingly, people who have the least materially often seem to have the most *fun* in life They say "ignorance" is bliss. They have fun until the reality of lack and want slap them upside the head. It's all fun until ICE comes knocking at their door or they come home to find a big ass pad lock on their door and a sign saying they aren't allowed in because their house has been condemned...lol. Like you said and like Neely Fuller Jr. said, we should be focused on solving our problems more so than having "fun". However fun and entertainment ARE necessities and DO have their place.....especially as therapy.

Race And Sexuality (Yeah I'm back on that 'ish again...lol): "Vanilla" Iceberg Slims?
ProfD I was referring s8x as there's no benchmark of quality. Social status can be qualified. Net worth, intelligence, physical appearance, etc., can determine one's value. Again, it depends on WHO is doing the estimating. If you're talking about "society" in general, yes. If you're talking about a SPECIFIC person; how THEY estimate a man and who THEY see as valuable to THEM may not align with the general social consensus. Most women would not consider a broke man high value compared to well off man. I agree. "Most" is the operative term. Gen-Xers have more access to wealth than the previous generation. Access TO it and actually ACCESSING it are 2 different things that don't always agree with eachother. Do AfroAmerican Xer's have more access TO wealth than their Boomer Parents??? I'm questioning this based on MY personal observations growing up in the Detroit area. It seems to me that Boomers had stronger families, owned more homes at younger ages, were less incarcerated, were more employed in better jobs...than their Gen X children or Millennials. They didn't make as much money as many Xer's and Millennials with college education make today. Even when adjusted for inflation. However COLLECTIVELY they were more stable and made more money because among the Xers and Millennials today you have a certain PERCENTAGE doing good while a higher PERCENTAGE aren't doing good at all. Bro...there's no shortage of tech from computer hardware and software to other tools and conveniences that has made it easier for me to get things done. Ok Yes...FBA/AfroAmericans are better off today than 30-40 years ago. Well, needless to say I disagree with that. Not based on some sort of study or statistic snatched off of the net (frankster...lol) but based on my personal observations having lived through several generations to make that comparison. Same goes for all aspects of life. The main thing is constructive fun. Yes sir! Exactly. H8ters especially among Black folks are like crabs in a barrel. They love you right up to realizing you're better off than them. This is the case far too often. I often look at other groups and how they seem to get along with eachother and wonder how can they? It seems almost unnatural. How can 6 Mexican families...entire families with 5 or 6 members each...live together in ONE house and get along with eachother? No shoot outs. Everybody working. Nobody screws another person's wife. Or are these things actually happening but they just IGNORE it and continue to work and support eachother anyway?

ProfD That's mainly because I prefer natural wwomen.no fake hair or too much make-up or windshield wiper eyelashes. I'm with you on the eye lashes. I'm not sure who told these young girls that those thick ass centipede looking jokerz looked good ANY damn way? Now I have to admit.... A good wig or a good weave on a woman DOES improve her appearance; not all of the time.....but much of the time. But them fake as lashes do absolutely NOTHING in terms of improving a woman's looks as far as I'm concerned and most other dudes I've talked to about it feel the same. As far as preferring a natural woman........ I prefer her natural UNLESS...she's naturally ugly, lol. Then she should start adding on shit to improve her appearance. Not all people are blessed in the looks department, and that's a fact. And I'm not talking down on people just because. I'm speaking as somebody who has been called ugly since I remember my ears working....lol. Not only by associates and friends but even by family members....lol. To be real, I've also been called handsome too...especially as I've gotten older. So I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But if you know you're lacking in a certain area and CAN improve yourself, why not?
-
Race And Sexuality (Yeah I'm back on that 'ish again...lol): "Vanilla" Iceberg Slims?
ProfD Quality goes both ways relative to the participants. The same snatch box I consider trash could be solid gold to another dude. Facts Absolutely facts! The same dude who was punishing one woman's box might be a lame to another woman. More facts! Quality is subjective because there are no benchmarks. And this is MY point, when it comes to who is "high value" and who is not. The Baby Boomers thought Gen-Xers were going to take the world to h8ll in a handbasket. It didn't happen. That's probably because most didn't think that. The chief complaint I heard from most FBA Baby Boomers was that Generation X was fucking up much of what the Baby Boomers (AKA Civil Rights Generation) actually fought and died for. They were fucking it up through drug use, abandoning many of the jobs that they fought hard to get us in to, and chasing interracial sex instead of focusing on building strong Black families. They didn't send the world to hell but a lot of Gen X'ers fucked up and forfeited much of what the previous generation left them. The Millennials are pretty much lost now. Right. Technology doesn't lie. Every generation improves upon it making life a little bit easier than it was for their predecessors. We talked about that in the other thread. Besides more access to the Internet and social media, what has actually "improved" tech-wise? Or rather, what new technology has came up on the scene these last 30 years that has made YOUR life better? The blessing and curse of Back progress. Folks don't need each other as much ss they disld back in those decades. However, there's no decline in the Black population. It has steadily grown. Folks still bumping and grinding. Let us focus less on Black folks in general (because a lot of Africans feel THEIR lives have improved) and FBA/AfroAmericans in specific..... Do you think FBA have made more general progress in the last 30 years? Do you think FBA...collectively....are better off today than they were 30 or 40 years ago? Definitely not projecting. Just paying it forward for younger dudes who might be reading. Understood. It's all good. There's no shortage of women for the streets willing to entertain them too. Because that's all THOSE WOMEN may have going for them, at that particular time....lol. The late NF Jr. was adamant that Black folks had no business having fun as long as there are problems to solve. If that were the case, people would have no fun...lol. I don't remember a time IN THIS WORLD where there were no problems to solve. Neely Fuller Jr. also said that we should make SOLVING PROBLEMS "fun"...lol. I try to do that myself. My compensatory definition of arrogance is a false sense of superiority using words and/or actions to degrade, demean and/or belittle others. My compensatory definition of confidence is a strong sense of belief in one's knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve and/or accomplish their goals OK, thank you. I think those are good and accurate definitions. 👍 The reason that word got my attention is because when I hear the word "arrogant" it's often attached to Black men. Often times people are accused of being arrogant when they are confident and proud but "society" doesn't feel they should be or DESERVE to have the confidence and pride that they have. So a lot of it is less about the person with the confidence and more about how society FEELS about that person and how they carry themselves. In other words, if society approves of you and likes you...your confidence is seen as a positive thing. But if that same society disapproves of you and teaches that you are subhuman or negative....then your confidence is considered unwarranted and often boastful and arrogant. Reminds me of something 50 Cent said in one of his songs: "They saying I'm too flashy They liked me better when I was fucked up and ashy"

Are We "Tribalistic" By Nature?
frankster According to a study published by the BBC....Europe is the bloodiest Continent having the most wars Thanks for that unsolicited information. Now explain to me how what goes on in Europe makes AFRICA a place where differences and diversity are well tolerated and people get along amicably? Of the 7 continents Africa has less wars than Europe Asia and N and S America....thats tolerance in my opinion. 2 points: 1. Oh, so your idea of "tolerance" is just comparing one situation with another more dire situation? So place like North Philly aren't rough or dangerous because what's going on in Gaza is worse and more violent, right? South Central Los Angeles is a nice and peaceful place because it's not nearly as bad as what's happening between Russia and the Ukraine, right? Your idea of "tolerance" is graded on a curve...lol. 2. Besides the unofficial "wars" between drug cartels and gangs going on in Mexico, what wars are or have been going on in North OR South America currently or in the past 50 years? If you want to exercise your full rights and privileges as a citizens then you will need to be able to prove it Everyone born in the US is given a birth certificate and the government record it as a live birth....that is one basic proof of citizenship. Does any of this determine whether or not YOU ARE a citizen???? Some one studied the situation and did experimentations to prove it...answering most scepticism Or perhaps these facts were ALREADY KNOWN to human beings initially. Perhaps, the only reason these facts were lost to much of humanity was through IGNORANCE and MISINFORMATION. People who DIDN'T KNOW these facts gained control over much of the world and begin to train all those under them AWAY from real knowledge and into the lies and superstitious that many people are just now coming out of. The planet being flat for example... Initially we KNEW the planet was round. Caucasians didn't. They thought the world was flat and TAUGHT everyone under their rulership that the world was flat until they learned better.

Black. Money. Malcolm. X .
ProfD Yep. Like Can't Get Right from the movie Life. Oh, was that his name? I didn't know what Bokeem's character was named until you mentioned it and I did a quick google. That "I'm that baby's daddy" scene when they all accepted responsibility was crazy as hell though...LOL. I wonder how that would have played out in real life, though. Beyond the exceptions we mentioned above, the largest population of homeless folks have a drug, alcohol or mental problem. I would definitely agree. I met cats who would down a whole fifth of something while you were standing there talking to them...and remained sober! Their bodies were so used to the alcohol that it took them 3 or 4 bottles of liquor to get drunk. It was comical listening to a well-spoken, clearly educated Black man and seeing him out of place among the rag-tag crew he kicked it with on the streets. I've seen SEVERAL of some people....men and women. I...being new to the experience myself...didn't believe they were really homeless. I thought they were case workers trying to mingle in with the people, and other times I thought they were undercover police officers trying to mingle in and get information. People informed me that no...they really WERE assed out and on the street and had been in that condition for YEARS. Intelligent AND articulate. But just....had shit going on they couldn't manage. A few decades ago, I remember one such guy who had a pension. He had two beautiful, successful adult daughters. He could have lived with either one of them on a condition...stop drinking. He refused. The daughters had to find their dad every month to give him his own money. I'm sure he spent it on his *friends*. I would be surprised if he's still alive now. I knew people like that in my family. They weren't homeless but they still lived very irresponsible lives. It makes me wonder how people like that...so irresponsible and shitty can still raise such intelligent and successful children. It also makes me grateful at how Divinely Favored I was to grow up with some good Parents. The best comedians are often highly intelligent too. True. Also the best Rappers tend the be highly intelligent. Even if they aren't very educated and from the streets....they have a very high intellect. If you think about it, you need a pretty well working brain to put together lyrics that make sense, flow it smoothly, and REMEMBER them...especially when you go on tour and have to do live shows. You can't be retarded and do that.

ProfD Whether or not a man looks good with a bald head depends on the SHAPE of his head, and to a lesser extent...his face. If not, he's better off letting that thin spot grow out as long as he can and keep the rest of it shaved down evenly...lol. PS. Don't listen to what Cynique has to say about Gayle King. She's already admitted (in so many words) that she's jealous of her in another thread, lol.
