  5. I suspect I’m one of a small handful of Black indie writers who write an African-American Historical Fiction series. I post daily on Instagram what I call this date in “white history.” It’s not Black history because to quote my favorite African Proverb: “Until the lion tells the story, the hunter will always be the hero.” Every day, I post an episode of white history describing murders of men, women, and children, court rulings declaring us less than human, and terrorism directed toward Black Americans somewhere in America. It’s called “this date in white history.” When you understand their history, you must write about it. We need to tell people about whi…

Of course Black folks will not start complaining until books with Black folks in them are completely invisible. Maybe Amazon can break off a few bucks and buy AALBC.com. Ah, nevermind they are in business to make money The WSJ reports Amazon recently paid ~$150MM for Goodreads. Amazon is really smart. I guess they will either buy or put Barnesandnoble.com out of their misery (business) pretty soon. And that is just the book world

  12. Hello Troy, I know I'm a little behind on what has been happening here on AALBC.com, but I just want to let you know how good this site looks and flows. I just visited the homepage and it looks great. I also took time to read and print out a copy of the "Ten Steps to Promote Diversity in Children's Literature" by Wade Hudson. I definitely plan to share it. Even as an author who is out there pushing my own work, I still try my hardest to support other authors--especially us. It's a difficult road toward acceptance and recognition in the literary industry. If we don't support our own, who will? Just like the article says: "You can make a difference!" We, together must …

White James Patterson is one of the world's best-selling authors, and as such has done what no black writer has been able to pull off with any degree of success. He launched a popular series about a black law enforcement character named Alex Cross and has enjoyed enormous success with this venture. Careful to avoid stereotypical charactors, Patterson has portrayed Alex Cross as a super negro, a brilliant, handsome forensic psycholgist who is indespensable to Washington DC‘s Metropolitan police department. Morgan Freeman played Alex in a couple of movies but he was too old to do so in the first place and has now been retired from the role. So who is our latest Alex …

Well so do i and that's what this book is all about. I believe there is a Psychological problem that's not being adressed so i wrote about it hoping it may awaken my Black Community. This is a practical guide touching the conversation and telling it like it is. Is the real problem with many fantasy worlds that no place represents the USA? I was thinking on another issue<linked below>, and in the post script a truth hit me. It isn't that fantasy is limited. Anansi/Grimms/Monkey King/Quetzecoatl all show, all races of people have tons of fantasy worlds or characters made totally in their own light. But, it occurred to me, the USA doesn't have a fantasy representation. The USA has science fiction, but not fantasy. Science fiction looks to the future by default. Now you can argue, Star Wars proves me wrong as it is technically an ancient fable. But, star wars isn't fantasy. I use what is going on with the video depic…

February 25th Loneliness is love with its hat on backwards -ali- Think about this. Even though love is a form of self-defense against loneliness, you can never ultimately conclude that there is either a social or historical reason to believe that loneliness will not sometimes win through. The most troubling thing about loneliness is that it is so patient, so controlled. It rarely ever escalates into an open foe on its own, and hardly will it ever knowingly engage in overt activities to justify its presence. All it does is wait. You never have to search for loneliness, but you are burdened with the task of keeping it away. No matter who you are…
