I have mixed feelings on the issue........... Like most philosophical concepts, you have the good with the bad. As it goes with the FBA movement. For years and years now I've been hoping for and looking forward to a movement that would be tailor made to fit and highlight OUR culture as AfroAmericans as well as give a little "pay back" to other minority groups who based on my observations tend to be more racist than White Americans themselves. This is one of the reasons I prefer the term "AfroAmerican" as opposed to simply "Black" or even "African American". Those terms aren't specific enough for MY lineage and group and culture. ADOS didn't really do that for me. Their focus was almost entirely on Reparations. FBA on the other hand is like a new found RELIGION with very zealot adherents. These cats are all over social media arguing, challenging, and asking where do WE as Black Americans fit in to whatever conversation is going on at the time and "if we don't benefit from it....we don't care" is the prevailing attitude. I'm proud of that. What I DON'T like is the colorism, anti-Africanism, and Trump-support that seems to be dominant among many of them. It started out as AfroAmericans highlighting our culture and lineage and delineating ourselves from other so-called "minority" groups who were in love with White folks and didn't want to associate with us in the first place. Today it has morphed (or been steered) towards targeting Africans specifically. Most of these FBA dudes talk about "tether this" and "tether that" all day long when it comes to other Black immigrants like Haitians, Jamaicans, and Africans....but won't say a word about the racist Hispanics and Asians who have been replacing many of our people on these jobs for years and have been far more discriminatory against AfroAmericans than not only Africans but even Whites! Some people like our great elder Professor James Small have even suggested that the FBA and ADOS movements are right-wing psychological operations designed to discourage Black people from voting and renounce support for the Democrat party. Regardless.......(richardmurray says "gardless".....lol)............... I'm both an AfroAmerican Nationalist AND a PanAfricanist....our collective African heritage is what ties all of our people together regardless of nation or culture.

ProfD I don't believe we have to worry too much about people stealing Black identity. Tell that to the Black applicant who missed out on a job they applied to because the firm had so many positions set aside for Black employees and White folks simply CLAIMING to be Black took them instead. Or tell that Black students who couldn't get into their chosen University because there were a certain amount of seats set aside for Black students and a bunch of White kids CLAIMING to be Black took them.....not to worry, lol. Who or what t will define Black power? Us Part of self determination is self definition. Black power is simply Black success and authority within a given context. White folks are going to fight reparations with every fiber in their being & every bullet they can load into a chamber. Unless they can figure out a way to BENEFIT from it themselves. Not just identify theft but....it's been commonly said and even joked about that Arab, Korean, and White business owners are the number one CHAMPIONS for Reparations because they know WHO many of our people are going to go to to SPEND that Reparations money...lol. You'll see them doing the Birdman hand-rub...lol "Right on bro.....Reparations NOW." Everybody won't be able to identify as Black for several reasons. True. We don't want ANYBODY who isn't Black....claiming to be Black. Stay in your OWN lane...not ours. Racial discrimination is committed by those who have power over other races. You don't need power to discriminate. All you need is the ability to reason and discern one person or object from another...lol. Neely Fuller Jr. ask.....can he tell a spoon from a fork? The majority of people do not want to be Black. That includes many Black folks. And I say GOOD....lol. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. I personally wouldn't link up with Black people who ARE Black but don't want to be, anyway. The more who expose themselves...the better. As I said, true power is EXCLUSIVE and not inclusive. One of the problems is too many Black people want to run around embracing EVERYBODY and trying to include them into our group. Like that those kids in school who run around trying to impress people and be their friend.

Mel What if its true according to a birth certificate, I've recently located, that my great great grandmother born in 1880 was 'white' by way of her Britsh mother and her father was indigenous (Blackfoot) but I'm Black Black Blackity-Blackity-Black-Black American not Afro-American? Unless you're using some pretty bright lighting for the pictures you've posted on here.....lol...you don't fit my idea of someone who would be described as "Blackity Black Black"....lol You look "paper bag" brown skinned to me. But to answer your question, yes....you are an AfroAmerican because MOST of your ancestors are of African descent from chattel slavery. Nearly all AfroAmericans have SOME White and Native American ancestry to various degrees. I'm not light-skinned which just shows that none of those labels matter. It is just how you identify. I identify as Black as does my mom and daughters. Oh no sis, it does indeed matter...... Why? Because we don't want people attempting to STEAL our identity or any Reparations we'll get coming our way in the future. Of all of the ethnic groups in the United States, there are several reasons WE should be the most vigilant in gate keeping out identity and culture: 1. Power is EXCLUSIVE...not inclusive. There's a reasons why certain clubs and societies make it hard for people go join and are very selective of who they let in. Because they consider themselves and their group important and valuable and demand high standards to be a part of them. 2. When Reparations are finally agreed upon and doled out you'll have a lot of people CLAIMING to be AfroAmerican just to get a check. "Celebrate good times....come ON, bro!" If we start letting anybody who CHOOSES to identify as Black come bouncing into the community....kind of like how a man can simply "identify" as a woman in some places today....then you'll have blonde haired blue eyed White folks IDENTIFYING as Black just to collect money that should be going to us! 3. If everybody has the right to identity as Black if they wish, it will be nearly impossible to prove cases of racial discrimination. All a White person accused of racism would have to do is simply say they're Black and therefore CAN'T be racist -and the case will be dismissed or dropped. We must have standards that WE set for ourselves as to who belongs to our group and who doesn't qualify. All self respecting people have this.

ProfD There's a total of 4 million Black folks in Georgia. There's 6 million white folks. Math matters. Well, something weird is going on. According to Wikipedia the state of Georgia is only about 50% White. So my question is what exactly is the other demographic of that other 50%? How much of it is made up of AfroAmericans? When I was in Georgia about 10 years ago Latinos didn't make up that big of a population. They were growing, but not too huge. Mel I still don't understand why the other republican candidates didn't demand Kemp leave his seat as Secretary of State when he chose to run. I hate to admit though I don't hate him as governor. He really did get Georgia through COVID-19 and if I remember correctly we emerged in the black. I don't recall Georgia being a hot spot for Covid during the pandemic anyway. Unlike nearby Florida which as a MAJOR hotspot. One of the problems with the Democrats in leadership, especially the White ones....is that they PURPOSELY sabotage their own party and chances to win elections by promoting socially irrelevant and non-common sense issues that most voters could care less about. Trump and most of the Republican governors gained immediate popularity with most Americans by simply NOT promoting the Covid shots and other rather extreme measures during the pandemic. They were able to read the room and became populists overnight by appealing to the base nature of most Americans who didn't want to be babied or bullied into doing things they didn't feel comfortable doing.

When the usa was founded in the white european colonial phase of the usa, even though ninety to ninety five percent of black people were enslaved completely whites, ten to five percent of black people were free, owned businesses, was an employed laborer. The black one percent region in los angles or New york city is very wealthy, financially. more than any other. I know New York harbors a large wealthy Black population, but outside of entertainers like athletes and actors....where is the large Black wealth in Los Angeles? Perhaps it was the circles I was in but the few times I went to Los Angeles, the majority of Black folks I saw there were living the street life. Either homeless or criminals. There were a few wealthy Black lawyers and doctors but the overwhelming majority of wealthy Black folks I saw in LA were in the entertainment industry and despite what you see on television, they make up only a tiny part of Los Angeles' population. Most of the Black folks there were on or in the streets. Or locked up. Detroit, Atlanta, and D.C. each have more Black people with good jobs and moderate wealth than Los Angeles has. Although the Black wealthy in Los Angeles probably have a much higher per capita income because they tend to be entertainers instead of corporate and government workers. The sad part is blacks like you keep thinking fiscal luck + white allowance is something that can be engineered or planned in some machiavellan way. For me what is sad is what I comprehend. So many black people in the united states of america or the european colonies it was born from, are so willing to see the usa in a positive light, that they only way they can rationalize black success is to keep trying to find a magical way a black person can make it happen, and treat it like a strategy insteead of admitting what historically continually shows. You mention fiscally wealthy black detroit or black atlanta or black district of columbia. When the all white counties around Detroit city, block black people or when said places residents harm black people, fiscally wealthy black detroit is willing to live with it. When the murdering white counties around atlanta, that graves filled with black people are still being found in, harm black people fiscally wealthy black atlanta is willing to live with that. I know too many black people from D.C. , the white populace of D.C. in my view is notoriously anti black. But wealthy black D.C. in prince george county and elsewhere is willing to live with that. What other LOGICAL and VIABLE choice do these Black enclaves have BUT to live with it? In Amendment I think of the Vietnam war documentary from ken burns in PBS. I know one group of Black Americans were stoned and ran out of town by a bunch of Black African Christians in Kenya after claiming that Jesus was Black, lol. Second; My second response would be the scripture reference about God's Redemption Plan and when he put Abraham in a deep sleep. This suggests that he wasn't White or even very light to begin with. David was ruddy and Solomon wrote that he was 'a twin' to the Black skinned virgin that he loved. There is no human on this earth that started out as an anatomically straight White skinned male. But this is proof in what happened in ancient times when the Creator overhauled White Supremacy in Black civilizations. The book The Color Purple....written by Alice Walker...also claims that Adam was the first White man. LOL. That is what has been happening, so says the prophet Daniel! White people have been in charge for a time, times and a half of times because Black people worship them and conditioned their generations to do the same. So that is why the Creator will indeed get rid of most Negroes, completely and start over again with their REPRODUCTION. That has been repetitive. Reproduction is the GEM that the Creator has been using against the judgment of the third and fourth generations since the beginning of Adam. Did THE CREATOR tell you that personally, or did you read it in a book? If you read this in a book, can you PLEASE show me directly where it says this specifically? Only a few old heads will make it to the other side! The Creator will always head up his government with Old Heads though, so someone, older will make it into this new world and I hope I make it! I've been seeing this since I was a teenager. Especially in the workforce. Some Black folks seem to be "immune" to racism and the other social problems that affect other Black people. The boss can be racist as hell and the co-workers can make all kinds of racist comments and discriminate...yet THEY can just come in, do their work, and nobody bothers them or antagonizes them.
