ProfD What I'm asking is..... At what point does the INDIVIDUAL Black man/woman take responsibility for their own success and drive towards power? The AfroAmerican mayor, congressman, judge, President...they went to school and studied hard, they stayed out of trouble to keep their criminal records clean, they kissed all types of ass to get to meet people of influence....they did the work to get the opportunity to either be elected or appointed to the positions they are in. They deserve what they were able to achieve for themselves. Should they do more? Yes Could they do more? Yes However they can't put THEIR lives and careers on hold because half the niggas who went to school with them didn't want to do anything else but smoke dope and fight or sit up and have more babies than they can take care of. They CHOSE to get educated and move up in power. A lot of these niggas on the street CHOSE to fuck their lives up....no....I can't say they wanted to do that....they chose to smoke dope and engage in reckless behavior that DID fuck their lives up. Black politicians can only do so much, but much if not most of it revolves around our people as individuals staying out of trouble, managing their money properly, and having responsible sex and taking care of our families.

But again, the point I'm making that seems to be getting ignored........... Show me the White women, Latino women, or even Black women from OUTSIDE of the United States who thought Prince was sexy. ProfD I'm in no way, shape, or form a Kamala Harris fan. However let me offer a little push back not so much to defend her but to support MY assertion about AfroAmericans in office. I wonder how many Black brothas and sistas the VP sent to prison during her tenure as San Francisco District Attorney and Attorney General from 2004-2011. 2 points on this: 1. That's a valid observation. However she's no longer in THAT position right now. She's in an even more powerful one, so the question is how much damage has she done to AfroAmericans in the position she's in currently? And how much has she helped? 2. To keep it real, we should ask ourselves how many of those bruthaz and sistaz DESERVED to be locked up when she was DA? We often talk about how the jails and prisons are full of Black people, however do we talk about the other BLACK VICTIMS that many of those Black folks are locked up for harming? Yes many of our bruthaz and sistaz who are behind bars are innocent, and many in in for non-violent offenses, however many who are behind bars NEED to be behind bars for the protection of our community! Not sure if we should feel more sorry for the hard core thug behind bars than the innocent brutha or sista they shot, stabbed, or beat up. If you get a thug or gangsta off the street who's been killing and assaulting Black people, I would consider you an ALLY not an enemy. The problem is this symbolism has been ongoing for a few decades now. AfroAmericans holding positions of power and doing nothing to help our people is harmful by way of benign neglect. I can understand that argument. And I would have totally agreed with it 20 years ago, but today...not quite so sure. IF...and I stress IF...they aren't harming our people and just doing their NON-HARMFUL duties in that position, why shouldn't they enjoy the fruits of their labor? In a racist system such as this, shouldn't they be trying to achieve as much wealth and success as they can PERSONALLY since nobody else is going to give it to them? Anybody can merely put their azz in a chair spin around in it. LOL!!! Excellent point. That's not constructive especially when it comes to dismantling the system of racism white supremac Again, what about the argument that simply BEING in that position is one more Black person in an important position. One more Black person with a decent job. One less Black person on the street begging or locked up. Fighting systemic racism shouldn't be a ZERO SUM game where if ALL of our people don't have good jobs, nice houses, and positions of power then NONE of them should. Sometimes it can be fought and dismantled at an individual level.

I don't think Black folks should leave Louisiana, they should rather stay and DIG IN. If this were California I would say YES....I'd advise them to leave. But the geographic location and demographic of Louisiana makes it much more important and strategic for AfroAmericans than for us to just pick up and leave it to the White racists.....who'd love nothing better. I agree with you that most of this "tough on crime" rhetoric has a racial component to it. However we have to be careful and skillful when it comes to discussing and especially when it comes to opposing anti-crime measures. For the past 40 years or so a lot of AfroAmericans have shot themselves in the foot by being publicly AGAINST anti-crime laws and calling them racist. We know they are.....but most other people of color, especially immigrants and those new to this nation will look at that stance as being PRO-CRIME. We need to counter these racist tactics with some anti-crime laws of our own that specifically focus on mostly White crimes. For example..... If Whites in Louisiana wants to push laws that identify juvenile criminal offenders or those convicted of drug related crimes.....then AfroAmericans need to push for laws publicly identifying those arrested for DUI's and sex crimes; both of which constitute disproportionately Caucasian offenders.

By far most human beings are not Murderers....Murderers need Care Why would a human being want to kill? Cynique Toodle-oooo baby. Neely Fuller Jr. said we as AfroAmericans need to make up OUR OWN definitions of words instead of waiting on the dominant society to do so. We need to control the narrative. Woke means what WE define it to mean, not what White Conservatives, Liberals, Nazis, or anyone else attempts to define it as. We should dance to anybody else's tune except our own.

Rather than saying a lot of "women" thought Prince was very attractive, it would be more appropriate and specific to say a lot of "AFROAMERICAN women" thought Prince was sexy and very attractive! What do I mean? I'm almost certain that most women around the world, including most African and Caribbean women WOULD NOT find a feminine damn-near woman looking man "attractive" and sexy. They would think you were joking if you even showed them his picture and asked them. Hell, even most White women in the U.S. probably wouldn't. But because Prince was light skinned and kept his hair straight most of the time..... And because a lot of AfroAmerican women have been conditioned to subconsciously see White women as the epitome of beauty AS WELL as find light skinned men with straight hair attractive......then THEY find Prince attractive and sexy. Although I love and respect my sistaz......let's remember that AfroAmerican women aren't the ONLY women on this planet so what THEY find attractive doesn't always line up with what MOST women find attractive. Generations of conditioning have twisted the priorities of a lot of our sistaz to the point that what most women traditionally find attractive in a man.....muscles, deep voice, strength, etc....has been replaced by light skinned, straight hair, hazel eyes, and high pitched voice (Prince). Which explains why many prefer a PRETTY man over a MASCULINE man....a pathology.

The Office only had one woman of color on that show and that was the Indian girl Mindy Kaling. She was the "stand-in Black girl". Back in the old days they used to get that ONE token Black person on a virtually all White show to fill the spot so there weren't too many complaints. Since the 80s, they've been replacing the token Black person with token Asians, Latinos, and Indians.....most of whom don't mind BEING tokens. They don't mind being used, as long as they get a chance to snuggle up next to Caucasians.

Troy When you factor in mass incarceration, the very high homicide and very high suicide rate in the United States compared to 1923 and especially 1823.....you have to wonder HOW MUCH progress has really been made in terms of poverty, famine, and disease. They claim the poverty rate was higher 100 and 200 years ago, huh? Well how about the HOMELESS rate? How many HOMELESS people are around today....even when the increase in population is factored in....as compared to 100 and 200 years ago? Infact, how many homeless people even EXISTED in America in 1823??? Certainly less people are DYING of diseases today than in 1823....but how many people are GETTING diseases today compared to that time? A far higher percentage of people have gotten cancer in the 1990s than in 1823. A far higher percentage of people have gotten AIDS and other stds than in 1823. Far more people are depressed, bi-polar, and schizophrenic than in 1823. So really.....has THAT much progress been made?

We BEEN known this fool was a problem, but the White folks support and protect him to push their agenda. I too am curious about what the women think, however I wouldn't be surprised if most women supported him. Not just because women tend to be more tolerant; but a lot of women in this society have been conditioned to prefer dealing with a FEMINIZED Black man over a MASCULINE one. Not all, but many. You see it at work, on the street, on television, etc....

This is where CREATIVITY comes into play. AfroAmericans are some of the most Creative people on the planet, when we don't limit ourselves. What Black mayors and politicians period need to do is study the problems and use their CREATIVITY to come up with viable solutions for them instead of following the script handed to them by their Caucasian counterparts. Most White politicians know the solutions to most social problems, they PURPOSELY play dumb and ignorant because they don't really want to solve them. They maintain their system by keeping people of color in a state of constant chaos and confusion.

I wish Detroit would elect another Black mayor and send that White outsider BACK outside to the suburbs where he belongs. Chicago, like a lot of large northern cities....is suffering from Black BRAIN-DRAIN. A lot of the smartest and most educated Black youth are leaving the city and heading down South to places like Atlanta, Charlotte, and Houston.....and out West to a lesser extent to places like Las Vegas and Phoenix. Black youth need to see a vibrant future for themselves in cities like Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Milwaukee.

And ofcourse he WASN'T cuffed....and DIDN'T spend a week or even a damn NIGH behind bars. They didn't even put HANDCUFFS on the man for ceremonial purposes. Didn't even PRETEND to treat him like the average person. In the old days, they used to atleast PRETEND to treat these elites and big shots like the average citizen. Put a pair of cuffs on a person just for a photo-op.....show him with his hands raised in a suit. When the press leaves, they take them off of him. Now, they don't even do THAT. Are you suggesting the Lord's jealousy stems from "fear" or "inadequacy" as you claim? Hurt and Pain are real that cannot be denied....Jealousy and Resentment are Emotions to be Overcome. If the Lord is perfect, then why would His jealousy need to be "overcome"? I understand it is your opinion, but it is also an idea and ideas are often times more dangerous than we would want to accept. The idea of keeping Black women with Black men is ONLY "dangerous" to those who wish to keep us separated. Such ideas lack only Support Means and Opportunity. Ideas with enough support become CONSENSUS. The means and opportunity usually justified. Your Ideas and Arguments or way of Reasoning lends itself readily to an oppressive attitude toward women of color who choose to cross the Ethnic divide. I'd hardly call the desire to love, protect, and keep the Black woman next to my side is "oppressive". The oppressive conditions exist when she has to put up with a community full of men who ignore her, forcing her to work and bear and raise children alone. That's the TRUE oppression a lot of our sisters are tired off. The type that often pushes them to seek love from outside the community. For intents and purposes, Black men and White women were kept AWAY from eachother in the U.S. Any type of secret rendezvous or affair going on was certainly an exception and not the rule. Whichever way the point is ...Miscegenation Laws rules and statues failed Not sure about THAT point you just made, but the ORIGINAL point you made...about White women finding their way into the beds of Black men back during the times of the anti-Miscegenation laws...was wrong. If any interracial CONSENTUAL sex was going on...it was White women in control and bringing Black men of their choice into THEIR beds. The primary purpose of Miscegenation Laws was to keep (especially) Black men and white women from Marrying and cohabiting.....it failed. No sir, it did not. A FEW exceptions to the rule does not equate to failure. You are conflating the issues....who runs the country is mainly a function of Economics and Politics. LOL......And which race controls most of the economics and politics of this nation? Asians? Native Americans? We are talking about a Social Issue....Whether or not two individuals of different race/ethnicity have the Right to marry date or have sex . First of all, what's your point? Are you suggesting that Black women who are married should NOT have free agency and that the husbands should be in control? Sorry, but if you chose to smoke Crack YOU made that choice, not "pressure from society". Lack of proper coping skills or training lead many to do that which is easiest given tools available and or accessible. True. Does that mean we should take the money and resources meant for housing, education, food, and raising our children....and divert it to helping Crack heads and give them better coping skills in life? Or rather HOW MUCH of the money and resources should go to them? Yes those are most in need and pose the greatest threat to our community.....Malcolm X was once one of them Correct, Malcolm X was ONE of them....one in a MILLION. There are MILLIONS of them who end up UN-REFORMED and dying in the miserable degraded condition they lived their lives in. Again, using one or two exceptions DO NOT justify or make a point. Do MOST Crack heads and other drug addicts turn into a Malcolm X? No Which is why he was such a notable exception. I hope you aren't trying to make a case for us wasting time and energy that SHOULD be going to building and progressing our community on reforming and helping those who CHOSE to destroy their lives and could care less whether they live or die....or YOU live or die if you have some money in your pocket. The father was wrong for giving the son who DISOBEYED him a higher position and more honor after coming back than the son who was loyal and stick with him and obeyed him all this time. The son should have been forgiven...yes...but not elevated higher than the son who remained steadfast and did the right thing through and through. One more reason I'm not religious....lol.
