After years of doing what I "thought" were the right things in life I'm beginning to understand that.....atleast for myself personally.....following the rules and taking the advice that Caucasians give for success doesn't work most of the time for me and it doesn't seem to work for MOST OTHER AfroAmericans either. From my personal experiences and observations, following MY OWN rules or the rules and advice of other successful AfroAmericans work much much better and yeild more successful results. I like what Dr. Boyce Watkins said recently: He said Black men and women need to make OUR OWN rules. He said you aren't gong to be succes…

Mr. Brossard, Really Dude? Dear Mr. Brossard: After reading your puff piece in USA Today, I decided that a response was in order. First, it seemed apparent to me that you wrote this article for the people paying your salary at Global Strategy Group. One thing for sure, attempting to guilt black men into voting won’t move the needle. It’s amazing to me how you and so many others like you think that you can lecture grown black men. Black men are men, not children, they do not need the likes of you or anyone else telling them about voting. Since it seems if though you have forgotten about 2016, let me give you a refresher. Black men did not vote in 2016 for…

I noticed that as a result of such occurrences that many of the people in our communities are experiencing symptoms related to PTSD and increased anxiety and depression. However, I am not certain that we are seeking the help we may need to process what we are really facing. Has the conditioning of our society, culture, and tradition desensitized us to the point that we are potentially suffering emotionally inside of suffering through everything that is going on? If so, what can we do to help?

It was the longest night of my life. When the prison guard locked us in the cell for the night, I knew that sleep would be out of the question because in about five hours, I was going to escape----or at least try to. Along with four other brothers from out of DC, we had put together an escape plan that we felt would land us on the other side of the fence. Ever since one of my childhood friends, Dan, had gotten killed in the prison a few months earlier, I had started to contemplate escaping. All of my appeals had been denied in court and I was angry at the “Scandal” among my homies. This was perhaps the only time I was upset with my homies because the kill…

This program (embedded below) made me think our discussion forum and why people believe what they believe despite strong evidence to the counter. More importantly, the program provides a compelling (at least to me) theory on why expert knowledge and facts that conflict with one's opinion doesn't lead to a change in one's opinion. Tis the season to be bombarded by the sometimes obscene and truly mythological lies of politicians wishing you to do them a solid by casting your vote for them, but we, the sons and daughters of former slaves, need to consider that we are not really citizens of this country. How can this be? First, ponder this. Why is it that we have to have our voting status reviewed every 20 years. They sure as hell don't do that with white folks. Why? Whites have real voting rights. We have voting "privileges". As such, they are not inalienable and are subject to legal scrutiny and that is why every 20 years since the Voting Act of 1964, Congress has had to vote on if or not, we can …

I am curious to why some believe this is occurring: Because it's no secret that Black women vote in higher numbers than Black men and tend to be much more loyal to the Democratic Party. Black women have always been the most reliable and the most loyal supporters of Dem Party candidates, especially when it comes to House. Believe it or not, a lot of young Black men get emotional over skin hue, a mixed person being called Black (think Kristen Welker) and tend to listen to their favorite celebrities rather than considering true facts. All Trump did during the last debate is continue besmirching the life and accomplishments of Joe Biden, terribly misrepresenting his positions. It is quite comical that Trump believes it's unfair for citizens call him on his failures. But he has no problem claiming the successes of Barack Obama and Biden are somehow, his. You are a magician and life is an alchemical working. You have the following elements the physical world, time, mind, heart and intuition. Some challenges involving moving physical objects, like well moving. Some challenges repeat over time. So you use your mind, heart and intuition to deal with issues in time and space. If you can change your perspective, your approach or how you combine the elements you will succeed. And if you don't succeed at your task but it changes you , then you have been more successful in your failure since you have learned to master your moods.

Maybe he was similar to Plessey Ferguson where only one of his eight great-grand parent was Black and he presented as a white man too. We know he lived his life, most of it anyway, as a Black man. By today's standard, he would be likened to the Rachel Dolezal (sp?) of the world.
