*Destini is a book designed for all ages. Destini tells a story of a 2 parent African American family. As they trace their roots for a class project, it takes them to some unexpected places. Destini and her family encounters some issues and learn some truths that will change their lives forever.* About me- I wrote Destini after getting pregnant with my daughter, she was my third child, behind 2 boys. With the lack of representation of our little black girls and boys I decided I couldn't simply be disappointed in what others hadn't done, I'd need to be the one to do something. This story is very personal, as it is based on my family. I've sold 90 copies thus f…

Now in print. This collection of verses touches on ancestors, nature, humanity and the stars in a very small book. Size 6x9, 117 Pages. ISBN 978-0-935474-49-7 Published November 2020 I write to share stories, impressions and ideas. I write poetry because I love the music of language, the cadencies of blank verse and the satisfaction of happy couplets. I read this book when I was 9 years old in 4 grade. The author was White and there are no Black characters in the story. But the following three long positive reviews mention Racism. Science Fiction has somewhat of a reputation for saying what cannot be said in the cultural climate of the time. This book got me hooked on science fiction which introduced me to information and ideas that I was not getting elsewhere at the time. I actually do not know how I would have gotten through grammar school without it. Maybe I could have murdered a nun or three. 😆 The book is now free on the Internet as text and an audiobook. I have no info on the …

  16. Author Daniel Rasmussen is white. But this is one of the most import books I've read in my life. Everybody knows the name Nat Turner and apparently think his deeds were some sort of an anomaly. They were not. Charles Deslonde led the biggest insurrection in U.S. history against slavery in New Orleans in 1811. The brothers actually had a real chance to take control of New Orleans. But they ultimately did not have the weaponry and of course, the c00nz informed the white imperialists of all the logistics. Deslonde had recent;y been imported from Haiti and had that same mentality that led to the Haitian Revolution from 1791 to 1804. The powers-that-be went to great lengths to…

I am interested in a book review. This fictional story highlights the importance of decision making for young adults as they maneuver through the most crucial years of their lives. As they adjust to the freedom and responsibility to make their own decisions, it can become challenging and at times life-changing. So often are young adults quickly labeled as; troubled, delinquent, reprehensible or just "bad". While in fact, they aren't always necessarily "bad" they have just made a "bad" decision. My hope is to speak to the gravity these poor-decisions can have and how they can change the course of your life or those around you. Encouraging sound-judgment, reason…

Always being placed in the friend zone or as I would like to call it the convenient girl, you know the one a guy can call up to talk to or chill with when his girl isn’t acting right. GHETTOHEAT® HOTNESS: GOD MATH THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN Most men are not aggressive in putting their ideas on paper: we think in terms of “what if”, and not in terms of “what could be”. To be aggressive would be to put things as they are, and not worry about the outcome. As men we continually struggle with imagination and ego. They do have a place in our lives, but only in small variables—and with a lot of forethought. In life, we must be more than “just men”—we must become “Superman”, and apply every aspect of the term. You may want to know just who is “Superman”, or what type of powers does he have? Well, to answer that question, one would have t…

The Impact of Street Lit Throughout the history of American literature, the world of the arts has never attempted to hide the fact that Street Lit is viewed as the ‘ugly duckling’ in the fabled halls of writing. In fact, this much maligned observation, has ultimately, in certain circles, tended to damage the reputation of this genre. The most vocal critics of Street Lit have teasingly termed such writings as ‘literary disasters’. They malign the literary accountability of such work and swiftly point out that Street Lit with its violent sensationalism and subjective attachment to criminal activity has ultimately started a regressive literary atmosphere where the im…

Just a few years ago prior to the publication of, Midnight, Souljah's 2nd novel, a few years after the Coldest Winter Ever, there was much more anticipation, more buzz. In 2013 there was zero buzz at least from my perspective. This is problematic. It is a problem because I actively look for books by Black writers that I think will appeal to or at least interest readers.
