In the latter years of his career, jazz legend Mils Davis and Prince became friends. During the MTV era in the 1980s Miles, looking very Princesque, even made a video playing his version of Cyndi Lauper's, 'Time after time". Jazz purists were miffed by Miles' cross over into the pop domain, but he brushed them off. ''So What?" is vintage Miles, and a phrase that could sum up his approach to life. Also appearing on this video another jazz icon, John Coultrane. https://fb.watch/8pW5Nyh5Hm/

This week, as a distraction to the dust-up in Iran & stalled negotiations, POTUS OJ decided to disagree with Pope Leo XIV & depict himself as Jesus. Of course, neither Catholics nor Evangelical Christians condemned the actions to any significant degree. I love the phrase as it relates to people in general..."moral relativism & situational ethics". 😁 On a daily basis, the actions of POTUS OJ reinforce what people think, believe &/or are willing to accept.😎

  10. What happens when you protest in America? Well, that depends largely on what you are protesting about, but most importantly, it depends on the color of your skin. Check these protests out and see if you can determine how and why things went awry. The first peaceful assembly starts off peacefully yet ends violently. The second peaceful assembly is met with resistance, but the resistance is dramatically different. Why? Check this out:

Next Suday, August 18th will be my 80th birthday. I began my week-long countdown yesterday. Can I make it? I seriously wonder. I feel OK but - who knows? Anything can happen. Life is fickle. Because I want to do it my way, I have planned a family dinner to be held in a private banquet room, where my 5 kids, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grands will gather to help me celebrate. My niece and grand nephew live out of state and won't be able to make it. Except for 3 distant cousins, these are all the blood relatives I have left in the world. Most of my close friends are dead and the 4 surviving female ones don't live close. Only casual acquaintances survive. I…

I have read a few reports about protests in African for death of George Floyd and that are from certain African countries and officials, but it does seem that there are no widespread protest coming from that realm. For this reason I have contemplated. But as of now, I have not formed an opinion. I've seen a report of a South African woman's emotional response upon hearing a tape recording of George Floyd pleading before he died. I have seen that there are protest outside the embassy in Kenya. I have seen protest in Tunisia. I have seen a report about a few West Africans who protested nearby U.S. Embassi…

In a world that has become increasingly computerized, artificial intelligence (A.I.) occupies a prominent place in the technology equation. It also poses an ominous threat. How so? Because it makes humans dispensable, and does so in some of the most unlikely areas of every day life; such as card games. I read somewhere that with all of their high-tech programming, robots do not make especially good bridge payers. Something l can attest to. I am a fan of this game which i have been playing since i entered college 70 yeas ago. Back in the 1950s before the advent of television, and the Internet, Bridge was a very popular past time among campus denizens. Today …

The solution is simple, figure the bus routes that have the lowest percentage of fair evasion and then using 10% as a delimiter, stop all bus routes where the fair evasion is greater than ten percent. All the services in NYC from the bus to the subway to the projects were all started for sectors in the white populace of nyc, not the entire white populace in new york city, plus not the entire populace of new york city, but mayors or others [ushed to expand these services to all in new york city as if they were free. Just cut the bus services where the fair evasion is greater or equal to a certain percentage. It is simple, but no elected official will do that be…

Many people believe that the word "race" that is used to describe groups of people is also closely related to the "race" that describes a timely competition. Just like a car race, horse race, even a foot race..... They believe that the word "race" was chosen for these various groups because they were literally in COMPETITION with each other for power, land, wealth, and other resources and who could accumulate the most in the shortest amount of time.

They did this so much it became a cliche. Over the years the media has taken this type of "journalism" to a new level with shows like Jerry Springer which are designed to profit by entertaining the masses at the expense of the most dysfunctional in our society. Now here is a story (that someone forwarded to me); covering a very serious crime -- attempted rape. However rather than being at least partonizingly sympatetic to the victim; the highlight of the broadcast was a rant by the victim's brothe…

The Hurricane Dorian situation had me a bit down emotionally the past few days. The fact that this storm roars into a category 5 hurricane and heads straight for the U.S. and then STOPS in it's tracks over the Bahamas and stays there for nearly 2 days before making an "L" and moving north as it loses strength is almost unbelievable. No one can tell me this was totally co-incidental and simply part of nature. For one thing, storms don't STOP in the middle of their rack and do a little dance for 2 days before moving on. Also, since when do storms make sharp "L" movements? They may curve and make wide turns, but head west only to stop r…

Well......she's right. Jews...for the most part....are NOT a separate race from the rest of Caucasians. They are part of the same race. There ARE some Black and mixed race Jews, but they are a relative minority. The vast majority are Caucasian (White). Jews are an ETHNICITY...not a race. I was pleasantly surprised by how well Walker did despite the negative press coverage and financial deficit. To people who criticize Herschel’s speaking ability I would point out he speaks better than Mitch McConnell. Stacey Abrams lost by an almost 2 to 1 margin. Herschel’s difference was by about 7 percent. So what does this all mean? It means that the Ga Gop didn’t put their full support behind Walker. The National GOP was also deficient. I would also add that Conservative media did not treat Herschel with respect. More to come.

But alas, on Sunday the Indiana Pacers crushed these hopes by routing the Brooklyn Nets and by doing so, eliminated the Bulls' play-off bid.
