Based on the new non-fiction novel, "When is Strong - Strong Enough?", author Souraya Christine decided to create a show where people could come together to help uplift one another, showcase their talents and treasures, and reach out to listeners abroad. Since its inception on 2/14/12, the show has grown to over 1500 listeners. Why not come be a part of the growth. Initially conceived to be an avenue for women...the show has also become popular with men and has subsequently embraced that growth! Ironic that on an African American book discussion page we have not discussed the proposed public burning of the Quran by that Florida minister and others. I suppose the man has the right to burn anything he wants to as long as he physically does not harm anybody or violate any environmental or safety laws and ordinances. He probably could not do it in the St. Louis City limits outside at least, because we have ordinances against fires outside. I suppose he could burn it here in his church. And I suppose folks ought to understand that burning a book cannot harm them--then wonder what would happen if he had said Bibles instead. Actually he and those wh…

My e-book has gone to press and will soon be available for downloading on line. Hard copies will also be for sale. This is the new and improved version of The Only One, my novel about an interracial love triangle that will put the advice of self-appointed relationship guru, Steve Harvey, to shame. It might also make prudes blush. This is not "your grandfather's book". It's your grandmother's hot novel. What this quick-read also has going for it, is that it's a delicious slice of black life, serving up conflicted characters with appetites for lust and cravings for love. Watch for more details on how to check out this upcoming release!

Chapter 1 Jaidyn’s P.O.V. Ain’t this some shit? I thought to myself as my head began to relax against my fluffy pillow while my mind raced with regrets second after second. I was so tired of dealing with this…having relations with no ship to carry it at the end. Always being placed in the friend zone or as I would like to call it the convenient girl, you know the one a guy can call up to talk to or chill with when his girl isn’t acting right. I’m basically like the replacement for a moment then invisible the next. I wonder, do guys even understand how that makes a woman feel? Do they even notice that I’m dying on the inside just from being used and thankless…

Outstanding Black Women of Yalobusha County and their stories and their contributions to a Mississippi Community was published in December16,2020 (ISBN 9798581596999). The black women featured in this book made a way out of no way--and not just any old way, - but a good way. They got in good trouble long before the late Congressman John Lewis coined the phrase - strong, black and southern and no doubt just like his mother. They wanted more for their children than they would live to see or obtain. Just imagine how much better our society might be now had these women been given the rights and privileges of white Americans. These Black women were left behind, but they refu…

February 25th Loneliness is love with its hat on backwards -ali- Think about this. Even though love is a form of self-defense against loneliness, you can never ultimately conclude that there is either a social or historical reason to believe that loneliness will not sometimes win through. The most troubling thing about loneliness is that it is so patient, so controlled. It rarely ever escalates into an open foe on its own, and hardly will it ever knowingly engage in overt activities to justify its presence. All it does is wait. You never have to search for loneliness, but you are burdened with the task of keeping it away. No matter who you are…

Have we forgotten the fallen? Many people have asked me since I've been promoting my novel why I wrote the book, and what I hoped to achieve. I realized that we are so awash with these stories in the news of police killing our young men, women, and children for so long that it has become the norm for many. Even when speeches are given or books are written, they only serve to tell us what we already know - the lives of the fallen or details of their killing. I wanted to examine these tragedies from a different angle. What if they killed someone and their surviving relative was ready to go to war? What if there was an organization who made the police as afraid …

As Nika stepped slowly down down the stairs, and out of the abandoned building, the warm gooey liquid streamed more fluidly from under her skirt. Steam emitted from the liquid as it hit the freezing air oblivious to mother nature's wicked cold. She floated down the wary, dark street. She heard faint music in her e…
