Talking to ProfD about the ratchet behavior of some of the people we knew and saw growing up brought back memories of Cooley High and scenes like this: I don't care what city you grew up in, we all knew a "Damon"....literally. Living in NY City I can't recall ever seeing the confederate flag (technically, the battle flag of Northern Virginia) flying. Here in the south, where I am now, I see one all the time. That type of thinking seems to be very popular among black people. My problem with this line of thinking is that if we never get involved in political processes, then we will never have control over anything political. A few weeks after doing my taxes, the state of Michigan sent me a letter telling me that they needed to "verify" my identify. WTF??? Yesterday, brotha Tariq Nasheed hosted the Rally4Reparations at Freedom Plaza here in Washington, DC. The guest speakers were Dr. Ma'at, Afro Elite, Dr. Randy Short, Gregg Marcel Dixon, Vicki Dillard, Dave Anderson, Black Alpha and Rizza Islam. All of the speakers were on point. Big Daddy Kane rocked the crowd on the Hip-Hop tip. The event was well attended despite that it was hot outside.😁 It was great to see families and so many young people out there too. I know it's a heavy lift but I hope that FBA/ADOS folks will keep pushing for reparations.😎
