  1. I think that we would have another 911 attack given his hatred against Muslims. We would have some kind of war because he seems to like nuclear weapons and encourages some countries to build them.We wouldn't be able to use our freedom of speech rights because he told Chief Justice Gingrich to resign for exercising her freedom of speech rights. We probably will have another Civil War with Mexico like the Alamo years ago in Texas.I learned a lot at the DNC Convention.I know Donald Trump was a "pig" but I didn't know he was that greedy that he wouldn't pay his workers. Now he's crying about people telling lies on him.On top of being stupid, ignorant and arrogant, he's too weak …

  2. Our parents were being born into this world a little more than 50 years ago. They were the children of Black Americans born three generations after the abolishment of slavery. But thanks to governmental acceptance of the institution of segregation, they remained second class citizens. Being second class citizens, they did not have access to the best schools and were ineligible for many good paying jobs. Our grandparents refused to allow this form of segregation to remain in place and demanded change. They made a choice to fight for this change by any means neccessary. This choice cost some people their lives and others their freedom. While fighting for these rights, our g…

I attended the Mississippi Book Festival this past Saturday. It was held in Jackson, MS. Like most cities in the deep south it is a series of profound contradictions. You'll find both moving testaments to civil rights and blatant signs of racism and its legacy. The book fair had a terrific line up of authors: I got so see Charles Frazier, Rick Bragg, and Jon Meacham just to name a few. There were quite a few Black authors of note as well including Jabari Asim, Janet Dewart Bell, Don Tate, Angie Thomas, Nicola Yoon, Quvenzhané Wallis, and many more. The organizers of the festival commissioned the creation of a street marker dedicated to Ward's w…

Help me out here. Nobody has yet to explain to my satisfaction why Democrats should stand on ceremony and stick with a faltering old fart like Joe Biden because when he was at the top of his game, um - he did some good things. Never mind that he is now feeble and in mental decline, - and not polling well! Ignore that Independents and young people are lukewarm about him. Just humor his obstinacy and don't rock the boat. Prop him up, and let him have his way because, well, he is the president and apparently of the same opinion as his opponent when it comes to a president being entitled to special privileges. And above all, continue to wallow in denial and cling to false h…

I've been watching the media coverage of the SUV driver vs Bikers incident and it seems that the media is going out of their way to make sure the public knows that the bikers were Black and Afro-Latino. First of all, I don't understand why in a society where people are PRESUMED innocent before being proven guilty in a court of law....why the media is allowed to post people's faces and names on television, in news papers, and on the computer even before they've offcially been charged and tried. It certainly is unethical but it should be illegal. But there have been hundreds of instances of road-rage in America and I'm sure dozens have happened since this one..... …

  9. The Trump election was indeed about color—green. Perhaps now people will see this election wasn't about race. This election, like all of the others, was about power and money. Wealth inequality will continue to grow. The Trumps of the country will get richer and we'll all get an upgraded iPhones that we struggle to pay for driving for Uber, delivering groceries for Google or delivering books for Amazon, in this exploitative "gig" economy. Now that Trump is dissing his own supporters by appointing more Goldman Sachs bazillionaires. Some idiot in Texas just allegedly murdered 14 grade school children and a teacher in Uvalde, Texas, This is an elementary school. And I guarantee the dummies on the Right Wing of politics will defend the ownership of guns. Some of those folks will also be in this discussion group. The suspect, a student at a high school in the same Texas town, allegedly shot his grandmother to death before the school shooting. Again, I will not post a link since this an evolving news story and I am certain that whole bunch of more before we reach the…

So says a study conducted by the Pew Research Center and fielded August 7-September 16, 2013 by Princeton Research Associates International. Over the last few years as activity on these discussion forums has decreased (quite substaintially), I often contemplated why. I recognize that social media takes up more of people time, including my own, but I also recgnize that social media is not a perfect subtitue for a forum like this. Die hard Biden supporters are holding steady, siding with the DNC and Biden's campaign committee members who seem to be viewing the president through a different set of lenses."Forget the polls", they scoff. "Biden will redeem himself." Yeah, right, all they need is a miracle to turn things around. Ol Joe will snap out of it, manage to finish a sentence and Democrats will be back in business! When people debate gay marriage, some argue that it could lead to legalized polygamy. Host Michel Martin asks how, and if it would even matter. Apparently, the "undecided" voters ended up going for Donald Trump because they were fed up with the Black lives matter movement, with the LGBT community, with Plannned Parenthood, with Mexican Immigrants, with the Muslim presence, with Native American protests, with the assumption that celebrities would influence how they voted, and last but no least, with the idea of Hillary Clinton perpetuating the liberal agenda that Barak Obama represented. I recently was made aware of an interview of an up and coming rapper named Jidenna (half Caucasian and half African) and he was pretty well spoken on a number of subjects including religion, sexuality, and the state of African peoples world wide. During the first part of the interview he pretty much sums up my position on how vulgar a lot of females are portrayed in today's rap culture but his commentary on other subjects were equally as interesting. I didn't agree with them all, but I found it a bit refreshing to hear young rappers articulate their opinions about society with a degree of intelligence.
