On a daily basis I see things on my Facebook wall that demonstrates how easily we can be manipulated into believing that something is true, when it should be obvious that it is not. Facebook, for example, has been putting a lot more video on my newsfeed lately. I've started to notice a lot of videos that are clearly fake. However, based upon the comments posted, people believe these fake videos to be true. It is very scary how easily we can be fooled. For example, I saw a video posted by someone I thought was pretty sharp. They used this video to prove how skilled the martial artist Bruce Lee was with nunchucks, which is a weapon made of two, foot-long sticks, co…

Hello, my fellow black writers. I’m a recent graduate (June 2017) of Full Sail University with a Bachelor’s degree for Creative Writing in Entertainment. I write character-driven drama films focused around the young black man to give our society a different viewpoint of who we are and to show that we’re living humans like everyone else. I introduce myself to you all on here in frustration. I feel that I’m not being given fair consideration when it comes to the writing jobs out there. Here it is November again, I’ve been looking for a writing job since last November. And don’t mean I’m just out her trying to zap a screenwriting career, I mean me securing a writ…

Recently my brother Tariq Nasheed held a conference down in Atlanta on the importance of unifying and embracing ourselves as AfroAmericans (or as he refers to us as "Foundational Black Americans") I'm not sure if anyone on this site attended but if you did I'd like to hear (read) your thoughts on the event. I've been saying for years that AfroAmericans NEED an actual culture. We don't have our own culture. We have a SUB-culture which is a modified form of the dominant Caucasian culture of the United States; but we don't have an actual culture of OUR OWN that includes all of the necessary ingredients for it to be called an actual culture for example o…

I'm listening to a Sunday morning talk show here in NYC, while trying to get a newsletter written (first one since late April). The radio hosts talking about the number of murders taking place in Chicago. In one recent weekend, 52 murders took place over a single weekend - including a 1 year baby! This past weekend 40+ murders took place. Virtually all of these murders are of Black people by other Black people... One Brother felt that Black men need to hit the streets and take them back -- policing our own communities. That sounds good, but it will never happen. Most Black people with money do not live in those communities and are not coming back to help. Wo…

Greetings! I would like to introduce my book, The Church of the Cosmic Mother: Metaphysics For the African American Seeker, to be considered for a book review. ISBN13: 978-1980973461, originally published March 9, 2015. The Church of the Cosmic Mother is a guide to African American spirituality for the 21st century. Combining metaphysics, science, philosophy and a strong dose of Black Nationalism, it is an antidote to the dogma implied in monotheistic traditions that black is evil. Rather, it introduces the concept of the Divine Feminine as the lost connection between our blackness and our holiness. As a metaphysics book, it is primarily conce…

I'm a Black man, proudly black. I never wanted to live or work anywhere but among Black people. It is what I do now. But I really can't get so bent out of shape over the Confederate battle flag controversy. This media fueled-for-profit outrage does nothing to advance our cause. Before the recent mass murder in Charleston, I posted a photo of this flag which is flying quite prominently over I-95, in VA (see, "Confederate Flag Welcomes Drivers on I-95 to the South"). At the time, I searched for information about this flag, because it just seems so crazy that it would be on display so prominently--I mean it is a BIG-ass flag. I found some information about the flag, but…

Being Black, poor, and marginalized satisfy any three-strikes (you're out) rule, for success; a criminal background to boot cements a life of ever illusive opportunity. To try, is to do. To not try, is not to do! So, what are some choices felonious Black men/women who served sentences for criminal offences? Brothers and sisters just don't want to sacrifice what's needed to obtain a formal college education; which could grant near vindication of criminal backgrounds. But some sacrifice, like or not, is required to say you, at least, tried. Even if you ultimately fail. Changing lifestyles, habits, or environments are keys towards making a personal dif…

Definitions of Miss Anne: A coded term for any white woman. A derisive name for a white woman. An emancipated blue blood. “Miss Anne in Harlem”, by Carla Kaplan is a 503-page book about the noteworthy role played by a certain group of white women during the era referred to as the “Harlem Renaissance”. This historical period, a subdivision of the "jazz age", spanned the decade between the late 1920s and middle 1930s. It was so named because it called attention to a black colony of writers, poets, artists, journalists, academics, and political activists all ensconced in Harlem, the quintessential mecca of black life located in the upper section of Manhattan. Upo…

What in the World is Going on In SUDAN! Should we as African Americans and Americans, in general, be concerned? Even though I was completely captivated about the celestial wonders going on in the middle of the month of April 2023, however, I was amazed at what I was hearing and reading about the conlfict in Sudan too, but at first, I didn't believe it was significant. I initially heard casual reports about many European and American officials being rushed out of Sudan and flown safely back to their European countries of origins but then, the news reports continued until finally, they became reported as NEWSBREAKS! Subconciously, I so…

It is me, or does Zoe look like an actress performing in Blackface? Why does EVERY single film trailer about a Black musician show them wielding a gun? Whether it is the NWA film Straight Outta Compton or Miles Davis bio-pic, one would think Hollyweird believes this is the only way to attract an audience. Zoe is a fine (in both senses of the word) actress, but her being cast in this role is distracting, particularly where there are so many dark skinned actresses who could have pulled this role one off brilliantly. @Chasitie, this will be another flick I'll wait to see when it is available for streaming online

While the Black community is still overrepresented at 20% in the poverty category, Black people have reached a "new low"overall. This time, "low" is good because, according to the US Census Bureau, the official poverty rate for the Black Population reached a historic low of 17.1 %. The Black Community was the only group to experience a significant change in poverty between 2021 and 2022! (Say what?) For comparison, in 1959, more than half (55.1 %) of the Black population was beyond broke. I've attached the link to the study below. When you have time to review, you may conclude that COVID-19 programs helped the Black Community immensely because one measurement (Suppl…

Nielsen reports that African-Americans outpace all groups when consuming media through multi-platforms. According to the audience measurement company, African-Americans watch more television, access their favorite websites, many of which feature financial or career content, through apps and/or mobile browsers. "On a monthly basis, blacks spend close to 56 hours using apps or mobile Internet browsers on their smartphones and about two and a half hours watching videos on their smartphones. Additionally, 81% of African-Americans are more likely to show support for a favorite company or brand using social media, and 76% are more likely to share opinions by posting re…

There are some who accuse me of giving the White Supremacists too much credit for their power and authority on this planet. Many AfroAmericans claim that Caucasians aren't NEARLY as powerful, smart, and organized as I claim they are and some even get a little upset and want to jump up and proclaim with strong emotion that NO ONE has any power or authority over them! Let us hear what Mr. Fuller has to say about this:

The Envelope Please: Who Will Win, Who Deserves to Win, Who Was Snubbed by Kam Williams 12 Years a Slave is benefiting from the most Best Picture buzz as we approach Oscar night, although this is shaping up as one of those rare years when the award for Best Director will probably go to a different film, Gravity. Look for 12 Years to net only a trio of statuettes overall, with Gravity likely landing seven. 12 Years a Slave is the sort of elaborate historical drama the voters just love to recognize, as reflected in such past picks as The King’s Speech, Gladiator, Shakespeare in Love, Titanic, The English Patient, Schindler’s List, Driving Miss Daisy, The Last…

I have always enjoyed talking about ideas. Although recently I have realized that I want to convince my opponent that my position is correct. I am surprisingly, at least to me, not trying to convince them they are wrong . I don't think it is possible for any opinions to be wrong. The real issues is understanding the assumptions or beliefs. Since the opinion is based on beliefs and assumptions. I would say this is true of any belief. So for me there isn't any knowledge or truths. Science to me is a belief system. And while it is rigorous and does have checks and balances it has flaws. It's major stumbling block is its arrogance and close mindedness. Granted this m…

When I think of New York State I don't think of a Black< phenotypical race> place. Yes, Black people are human or can live anywhere they want to as humans. But New York State was and is not and I bet against will be a haven or positive place of growth for Black people beyond uncommon individual instances. But thinking on this moment, I wonder, is New York State better as a state in the union , its current form, or a federal district. NY State doesn't financially support its populace well enough<the number of incarcerated people is the proof>, across racial lines. NY State doesn't have an efficient elected official body nor a system that guides gove…

I found what Facebook poster Timothy Elliott had to say about America's dictator incisive and succinct. "Trump was once a Democrat, then he switched. Wouldn’t even call him a Republican (the traditional party of “free trade”), however. He’s something altogether different. The Grievance Party (MAGA). Whining, complaining, self-pitying, feeling hard done by. In Trump’s world there is no such thing as mutual benefit. It’s always a zero-sum game. He has to be the winner (or be seen as a winner) and the other party has to be a loser. He took over the world’s strongest economy (on Jan.20), and the world’s strongest currency, and in less than three months he has both head…

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Anyone paying attention to detail may have noticed I don't use our president's name. However the psychopath may actually do us some good. Reuters reported yesterday: "White House probes Google after Trump accuses it of bias." The man actually has a point -- seriously. I noticed this several years ago as Google out ranked negative information about Zane and Terry Mcmillan over their accomplishments. While I'm trying to learn more about their work as writers Google is shoving all the negative stuff they can find about these sisters in my face -- information I'd argue should be private. At any rate,…

The video above was done in jest, but it is funny and somewhat sad because it is so true. I was talking to someone the other day and was trying to explain that anyone who thinks they know me based upon my Facebook profile is a fool. I have actually stopped using Facebook for personal reasons because what originally started out as an ego stroke no longer works. I now recognize that Facebook is literally pimping me to make money with a complete using a complete false version of who I am. I'm also tired of reading everyone else false images of themselves. I prefer the flawed, imperfect and occasionally inspired people you encounter in the real world. …

I generally try to stay in shape, and go to health clubs like Ballys or LA Fitness as the weather turns cold, and outdoor activity is less appealing. All of these clubs have large rooms where group classes are given, usually some newfangled version of aerobics requiring multicolored weights, rubber bands, giants balls, adjustable platforms, hula-hoops and what have you. I never take these classes but I'm usually start my workout by stretching out nearby. I actually used to teach aerobics, almost 30 years ago, and the only thing that is the same is the use of music. Music sets the tone; it can get you fired up or it can calm you down. It also helps keep rhythm and helpe…

Check out the debate "If consciousness is just the workings of neurons and synapses, how do we explain the phenomenon of near-death experience? By some accounts, about 3% of the U.S. population has had one: an out-of-body experience often characterized by remarkable visions and feelings of peace and joy, all while the physical body is close to death. To skeptics, there are more plausible, natural explanations, like oxygen deprivation. Is the prospect of an existence after death “real” and provable by science, or a construct of wishful thinking about our own mortality? One of the comments from the debate: I attended the debate last night and it was enjoya…

Until Death Do Us Part: 8 Reasons For Marital Failure Amongst African Americans By Dr. Umar Abdullah-Johnson, Psy.D., NCSP, M.Ed. Nationwide (November 6, 2011) -- Discussions about the epidemic are everywhere, from the latest best-selling novels to academic discussions on college campuses, to passionate discussions between Frat brothers & Sister circles. The question everyone wants answered is "WHY?" Unfortunately, many of the traditional reasons you have been given for the premature romantic meltdowns amongst Blacks are inaccurate and insufficient. These very same factors were present when successful Black marriages, created 30 or 40 years ago, w…

Prophecy of the Transatlantic Slave Ship Trade; Part 2 Untitled Image (Sleeping Positions of Captive Africans on the French Slave Ship L'Aurore) I posted an earlier thread titled; Moses Was Not the Only One to Prophesy About the Slave Ship Trade. This thread expounds upon that very subject but much more. One of the most amazing features about ancient script and prophecy would be that NO ONE BOOK REVEALS THE WHOLE. No one book reveals the whole aspect of prophecy about Slavery and the human sacrifice of the Black African humanity. To understand how Satan has premeditated against God’s creation therefore, all the prop…

It may be over, but it ain't done as the media and the internet are still abuzz with post mortems about the result of the presidential election. Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel minced no words in a Fox News interview, when he told Sean Hannity to "shut the f**k up, you lost!". My kind of guy. Another one of the more interesting reactions was that of a FaceBook poster, who opined: "While Romney lost, the Republicans outperformed in the Congressional elections. One would have expected many more losses with a victorious Democratic President, but there were basically no "coat tails" to Obama's victory...the Congressional Republicans are, if anything, more "conservative" than …

AFRICAN AMERICANS DON'T GAZE ON IT!--DIRECT YOUR FOCUS How do you encourage young people during a time like this!? One thing I know for sure though, is that it is absolutely NOT good to continue to look at the video and images of DEATH and DYING especially of the recent horrific deaths of a young man in Georgia and of the Gentle Giant George Floyd that was filmed. EXERCISE SELF CONTROL. That's how I directed my sons a few days ago. DO NOT WATCH THOSE VIDEOS but certainly some one needs to watch them who is spiritually strong enough to deal with these issues. RACE....ETHNICITY....NATIONALITY....what's the difference? The entire RACE/ETHNICITY concept really isn't that complicated. The problem is people have been so miseducated about race, ethnicity, and nationality not only in the United States but around the world that it's hard for them to abandon the false concepts and ideas told to them by their teachers, parents, and other authority figures and decide to think for themselves so they hold on to falsehood and this leads to increased confusion. Well I decided to think for myself and do my OWN classifying based on my own observations and reasoning and this is what I came up with. It's not very scientific, but I c…

I'm beginning to see more of these AI generated sales pitches (see below). The use of the word "delved" in the first sentence is a tell. The service itself is AI driven. AI is already being touted as tool one can use to craft and read unique bedtime story to your kid. Troy and Chev (but obviously anyone can respond) You both say that 18 is too young for sexual activity but growing up many of the males and females I knew were having sex on a regular basis...some even produced children at 18 and 19, and many of them that I still know of today for the most part have turned out to be just as fine as those who were reportedly virgins and didn't engage in sexual activity. Outside of the troubles that came with actually having children they weren't ready to support, the sexual activity itself didn't seem to make much of a difference in their success or failures of life. Two questions I have is: 1. Is it that 18 and 19 are too youn…

Over the years, I've encountered many individuals who remain curious about who was Black in the Bible. A lot of them spout legends and myths are absolute falsehoods. Some even mention individuals who actually never appear in the Scriptures. So I did research and here are my findings. When compiling this data, I incorporated the claims made on different Websites and by many individuals. I chose to stick with only what I found in the Bible. This way, I would not codify legends, myths and feel good tales. That's how we ended up with a White Jesus. One thing I discovered is that the Bible rarely mentions the skin color of those in the Scriptures. 1) Some believe …

Seriously, this is the question Ebony magazine asked 50 years ago. Whatever the answer was, the imagery has not changed. It may have even become more extreme as long blond hair is common place and the use photoshop is mandatory. Women wear long blond wigs not so much because that is the way men want to see them, but because that is the way they want to see themselves. Of course this is the image that Black media promotes, as they work hard to conform to the white standard of beauty. When we see a Black woman with rocking a natural style, we "freak out," the way we do when we see a more accurate world map.
