I'm not dealing with the movie itself, but it's advertisement because far more people will see THAT than will take time to even watch the movie. It has the Black woman portraying a witch and the White girl (who's actually brunette in real life) with her hair dyed blonde and wearing a tiara representing goodness. It's a damn shame so many people don't even see the obvious racist undertones of how this movies is being advertised...as the one before it....and the psychological damage it's doing to Black children. Some of you are sitting up smiling right now wondering what the big deal is. FOOL How many times do we have to go in FUCKING CIR…

What's up with this new movie Wicked they're promoting heavily, especially towards Black girls? Black "Wicked" fans say the film has deep political and cultural resonance | Watch Every other article is about how some green witch, played by a Nigerian/British sista Cynthia Erivo...resonates with the struggles of being a "Black woman" in society. I don't like the racial undertones of that, nor do I like the fact that Black people and the word "Black" itself is constantly being associated with Wicked. It's sends terrible subliminal messages to the subconscious of many Black children. On top of that...... It appears that our sista..…

https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/19/media/elon-musk-political-spending-bill-shutdown/index.html Elon Musk has been riding with POTUS OJ before he was re-elected. Musk donated millions of dollars to the POTUS campaign. He's been appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This week, Musk had influence in the government spending bill. Some folks were asking if he wants to be House Speaker. One doesn't have to in Congress to hold the position. Musk is South African. He also holds Canadian and American citizenship. His business interests makes meddling in government a conflict of interest. Yet, nobody i…

This is something I've never been clear about,Troy. When authors go on Thumper's Corner and request book reviews, what happens next? Are they accommodated with a review and do such reviews automatically appear in AALBC's monthly newsletter? Also, you have said that pictures can be uploaded into a post. But I see no search engine for doing this.. How is it done? Also, as a courtesy, why don't you use the "Edit" feature once you post what I assume are responses you key in a hurry or from your iPhone? This would eliminate the distractions of typos. And are opinion pieces that appear on this site copyrighted by AALBC? MEOOOOOOW.

Andrew Jackson who currently on the $20 bill was a devil. Harriet Tubman would be a much better candidate. I understand some native American reservations don't use the currency. I pulled this image from a web site called http://huzlers.com/ it is such a crazy site. All of the stories are bogus, but they really do not read very differently that other so called news websites. That is what makes the website so funny, it is a parody of what news has become.

This black sexuality debate between us calls for a separate thread, Pioneer. You seek to santize polygamy by putting it in the context of marriage and you further seek to justify it by citing some mythical, undocumented “scientific studies” which you claim prove that all black men have an overload of testosterone. You then proceed to deduce from this that monogymy is unnatural for these insatiable brutes, further asserting that courtship is a white amenity and that black people are simply imitating Whites when they go through this formality because their true nature is to dispense with any romantic ritual and get right to the business of fuckin’. You add that sympa…

I saw it the other night. EXCELLENT film. It reminded me of one of my favorite films: Glory Nice long action packed movie. Will...as usual...was outstanding in his performance. I didn't get too hyped about it because I expected for it to be good, and I wasn't disappointed. I recommend everyone who hasn't seen the film to go see it. There is violence through out the movie but it has quite a bit of violence in the latter half so be forewarned.

I found what Facebook poster Timothy Elliott had to say about America's dictator incisive and succinct. "Trump was once a Democrat, then he switched. Wouldn’t even call him a Republican (the traditional party of “free trade”), however. He’s something altogether different. The Grievance Party (MAGA). Whining, complaining, self-pitying, feeling hard done by. In Trump’s world there is no such thing as mutual benefit. It’s always a zero-sum game. He has to be the winner (or be seen as a winner) and the other party has to be a loser. He took over the world’s strongest economy (on Jan.20), and the world’s strongest currency, and in less than three months he has both head…

New Zealand woman sells souls to highest bidder Mon Mar 8, 11:33 pm ET WELLINGTON, New Zealand – The rare spirits that went under the gavel at a recent online auction in New Zealand weren't aged brandies or hard-to-find liqueurs. Instead, two glass vials purportedly containing the ghosts of two dead people sold for $2,830 New Zealand dollars ($1,983) at an auction that ended Monday night. The "ghosts" were put up for bidding by Avie Woodbury from the southern city of Christchurch. She said they were captured in her house and stored in glass vials with stoppers and dipped in holy water, which she says "dulls the spirits' energy." She said they were…

(What a mouthfull...) Pity for Poor Africans (1788) William Cowper I own I am shock'd at the purchase of slaves, And fear those who buy them and sell them are knaves; What I hear of thcir hardships, their tortures, and groans Is almost enough to draw pity from stones. I pity them greatly, but I must be mum, For how could we do without sugar and rum? Especially sugar, so needful we see? What? give up our desserts, our coffee, and tea! Besides, if we do, the French, Dutch, and Danes, Will heartily thank us, no doubt, for our pains; If we do not buy the poor creatures, they will, And tortures and groans will be multiplied still…

I'm thankful for what I have and wish for more. Twitter has over a half-billion microbloggers active monthly users after an estimated loss of 900,000 when the South African bought it. Threads by Meta's Mark Zuckerberg has reported 275 M monthly users as of November 3, 2024. After the 2024 Presidential election, many black people are using the platform to make plans for the next revolution. How the hell do you plan a revolution on a white-owned public platform that pays allegiance to white supremacists? Anyway, I wish AALBC was the premier microblogging site - Black people 44 Million strong in America; we still don't control or …

Black Misery Is... Believing you are woke, but realizing you are fast asleep. 😉 I was collecting information about a literary magazine, Brown Sugar, that I plan on adding to the site when I discovered this description: “Brown Sugar is a womanist literary magazine for women, womxn, and womyn of color, of any nationality, sexuality, religion, or cultural diasporas that are misrepresented and underrepresented.” I've seen womyn before but, womxn was a new one on me. My understanding of what I thought womyn meant seemed to preclude the need for womxn. Obviously I was wrong. Issues of gender, transphobia, sexism collide to…

In a world that has become increasingly computerized, artificial intelligence (A.I.) occupies a prominent place in the technology equation. It also poses an ominous threat. How so? Because it makes humans dispensable, and does so in some of the most unlikely areas of every day life; such as card games. I read somewhere that with all of their high-tech programming, robots do not make especially good bridge payers. Something l can attest to. I am a fan of this game which i have been playing since i entered college 70 yeas ago. Back in the 1950s before the advent of television, and the Internet, Bridge was a very popular past time among campus denizens. Today …

Well, the latest controversy lighting up the media once again deals with the word whose power knows no bounds! No sooner has LeBron James appeared before the cameras to lament how no black man is immune to being called a nigger, than HBO talk show host Bill Maher takes the spotlight by inadvertantly referring to himself as a "house nigger" when the republican Senator from Nebraska he was interviewing, invited Maher to come work in the fields of his state. Everybody has an opinion about this and Maher who is considered a progressive and who put his money where his mouth was in donating 1,000,000 dollars to Obama's treasure chest, - and who is rumored to have a bla…

Well, 2011 is winding down and on December 21st the date of the winter solstice, after mulling through the shortest day of the year, we earthlings will be heading out of darkness, trudging toward the light which will dawn in its full radiance on June 21st, the year’s longest day and the beginning of summer. I don’t know what significance this has for all the other inhabitants of planet earth but - for me - the waning days of November are the first stages of a descent into the doldrums of cold weather, and the hibernation of cabin fever. Sorry. Wish I could project a rosier outlook but the state of the world plays a major influence in my not being energized. Every da…

In another thread Mzuri wrote: Part of a larger discussion about so much of the workforce is now working from home instead of in an office or building in a more professional setting. Many see this becoming the "new normal" for the U.S. workforce and my initial reaction to this was one of disdain. My response was: Besides this worker-employer relationship being so informal, ghetto, and unprofessional....at the end of the day CORPORATE is the benefactor because they no longer have to provide office space or stationary for their employees and can save BILLIONS of dollars. But how much do the employees get out of this deal? When I got fired from my old job for refusing to take the vaccine, was facing homelessness, and ended up finding a new job doing PHYSICAL work at my age.....it was so disappointing. Part of me was happy that I was able to find SOMETHING to maintain a decent income and keep the bills paid but another part of me was angry and frustrated that I didn't have more and why I wasn't in a better situation. The actual job itself isn't the best, but one of the things I love about it is the opportunity I now have to work with so many Africans from around the Continent. I'm not sure why but nearly a THIRD of the labor force I work with are Black Africans from over 30 diffe…

Don't know if you are familiar with the books of Max Brooks, but I like how he used "zombie" . Some readers consider it humor and perhaps even more consider it sci-fi. lol I don't know which planet the people from either aforementioned group are living on. The end was near. Zombies were taking over. They were infiltrating every corner the world. No neutral ground existed, no nation was secure, and we were in serious danger of becoming extinct - overrun by hordes of the living dead. . Brooks at Rutgers: The movie for World War Z was supposed to come out this year, but I think that it is now scheduled to come out in 2013.

https://socialjusticebooks.org/about/why-boycott-amazon/ A review of 190 articles from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and the Bezos-owned Washington Post over the past year paints a picture of almost uniformly uncritical–ofttimes boosterish–coverage. None of the articles were investigative exposes, 6 percent leaned negative, 54 percent were straight reporting or neutral in tone, and 40 percent were positive, mostly with a fawning or even press release–like tone. The last major investigative piece we found in any of these three publications was a 4,500-word critique of Amazon’s labor practices in the New York Times (8/16/15) almost two yea…

New Facebook mood experiment asks, "Are you happier without Facebook?" http://99daysoffreedom.com/ July 9, 2014 Leiden, The Netherlands - In response to Facebook's controversial mood experiment involving some 700,000 unwitting users, a new initiative has launched an experiment of its own -- determining how life without Facebook impacts user happiness. The non-profit initiative, known as "99 Days of Freedom," asks users to refrain from Facebook use for a period of 99 consecutive days and report-back on how the hiatus affects personal notions of happiness. The initiative's website, 99daysoffreedom.com, provides a set of simple user instructions, which include pos…

My final take on the "Black Panther" euphoria, has predictably congealed into cynicism. The black panther character first appeared as an antagonist to Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four in 1966. which according to some accounts, was the same year a cabal of young black militants in Oakland, California, inspired by the heroics of this character, envisioned the image of a black panther as a logo for their nascent organization. Subsequently learning that the symbol had already been adopted in 1965 by another political group from Alabama known as the Lowndes County Freedom Organization, Bobby Seal and Huey Newton perhaps made these activists an offer they couldn't refuse and - …
