I think culture isn't just important to the nation it is the nation. Notice I am saying nation not country. The Black Nation has it's own culture within larger white culture. Pictures are an important part of culture. It shows what is important. So what gets made and what gets watched is important. The Black Panther is more successful because it fills a need. Just like cave painting .

It's getting a little tiring seeing so many grown ass AfroAmerican men getting on national television crying and carrying on. I understand if you lost a loved one, it's natural to be deeply hurt and cry. I cried when both of my Parents passed away. I'm not saying AfroAmerican men should NEVER cry....but there's a time and place for everything. I'm saying this in reference to so many AfroAmerican men who have been crying on television lately as a reaction to the George Floyd situation as well as the latest shooting in Atlanta. Mr. Flyod's brother has a right to cry. Mr. Brook's brother has a right to cry. But some of these other negroes on the screen weep…

You really had to suspend disbelieve to get all the plot lines and the overlapping characters. @Pioneer1's post about Smoking Weed was what made me think about The Chi. Smoking weed was such a big part of the series -- almost everyone smoked weed constantly. They were smoking it, growing it, selling it and killing over it. It was a major character of the series. He preached non violence. He was married to the mother of his children and supporting them--best he could while he was running all over the country trying to do right by folks. He was not strapped. But thanks to governmental acceptance of the institution of segregation, they remained second class citizens. Being second class citizens, they did not have access to the best schools and were ineligible for many good paying jobs. Our grandparents refused to allow this form of segregation to remain in place and demanded change. They made a choice to fight for this change by any means neccessary. This choice cost some people their lives and others their freedom. While fighting for these rights, our g…

I think my luke warm endorsement has to do with me finding out that a white person wrote the screen play. When asked about his credentials to undertake this, his answer was predictable. He said he did research and interviews and then put his empathy and writing skills to work. The result was a fictionalized episodic journey, plodding through the 1930s Jim Crow South up until the Ronald Reagan presidency in the 1980s.
