I asked prior in this forum if the Black community is to harsh on itself based on the activities of other communities And tonight it was proven in the voting arena. Media in NYC continuously complained, why is such low turnout in NYC. But everyone knows the answer, it is the same reason why turnout is low across the board, why turnout in south africa went from 99% across the board to between 30% side 10% , why turnout in the USA's Black community went from over 90% of allowed, cause whites always did whatever it took to stop non violent blacks, whose non violence made it easier. Cause the government fails to return an investment on voting. The city council o…

For once in my life, I can offer the news that a city in NC has put forth a REPARATIONS package for the black residents of Asheville. It is hoped that what happens in Asheville will become a model for the rest of the nation. The city council voted unanimously to issue an apology for slavery and promised to pour money into investments into the black neighborhoods. No money will be paid out to individuals, but a newly formed Commission was formed so that the money could be allocated accordingly. Two other cites, Providence, Rhode Island, and Richmond VA have followed the Asheville model while last year, Evansville, Illinois took it one step further b…

I turned to my left and saw my car: Again a very sharp photo. Interestingly the license plate was obsured but you can easily determine the make and model. At a recent Black literary conference, a heterosexual Black women stated that to endorse lesbianism was the death of the our race. This positing reflects acute fright or a faulty reasoning, it ascribes false power to difference... This position supposes that if we don't eradicate lesbianism in the Black community, all Black women will become lesbians. It also presupposes that lesbians don't have children. Both suppositions are patently false. Audrey Lorde.

When it comes to TV, summertime is re-run season. For me it's a time to stray from the channels I usually watch because I've seen all of their episodes more than once. I still haven't gotten into sit-coms or drama series. I just look for quick fixes, and that can involve reality shows. But I only watch one type of reality show; the talent competition ones; or the untalented competitions, as the case may be. What I have observed while watching these shows is a simple lesson. A lesson that is not new but one that TV enhances and dramatizes because it exposes the power of reactions. I have become a regular viewer of a show called The Shark Tank, a progr…

The intent of this post has absolutely ‘nothing’ to do with white supremacy, black power, anti-Semitism, self-hate, or anything else along those lines. An issue that occasionally shows up on the horizon, one that some people take seriously, but many others choose to ignore and don’t take a closer look at is: “How liberal Jews in government, business, education, entertainment, media and politics in America, were so successful in programming so many liberal black Americans into being so ‘intellectually challenged…

  15. So now what? We spent our money in support of an African based film; shattering records and propelling Africanism into the global equation. Our consumer aspect has always been evident but the display of unity was something new. Your Black card is revoked; I’ve seen facebook friends de-friend friends who haven’t seen it. Kente cloths in 3D. Dashikis at matinees. Busuutis at the concession stand. The display of pride was unprecedented… But how can we change this into a movement? The beginning of something big. Is it possible? Or was the display ‘for entertainment purposes only.’ One of the hardest conditions Blacks have been battling to over…

SO: It’s such a hard thing for those of us in this country to get our minds around, but it’s completely legal. I’m sure you saw in the piece how the boy named Matthinson’s father sold him for about $12 dollars to go and be a slave for a complete stranger. But it’s an indication of just how devastating the poverty is in Haiti that that’s a viable option. It’s pervasive throughout the country. And unfortunately, it’s perfectly legal.

I find it interesting yet somewhat annoying that there are many people including clergy who stumble over this question or subscribe to the false notion that God sanctioned slavery. When God released the children of Israel from Egyptian captivity they were a free nation, with their own laws and customs. After being held in bondage ,It is ridiculous to think that the almighty would ordain laws allowing the Hebrews to oppress other nations as they were. What Moses regulated to his people was a system of servitude based on justice not chattel slavery. Chattel slavery as applied in the Transatlantic Slave trade granted the rights of property ownership in human beings. The M…

The obvious question to ask you, Chrishayden, is: as a black man, are YOU full of self-loathing? Do YOU look at yourself in the mirror and hate what you see? If you don't, then why do you think others do? If you do, then how can you scold people when you are as guilty as they? You regularly distance yourself from the crowd, covering yourself in the "onlooker" cloak, as you criticize "Negoes" who offer opinions about the black problem. Yet you, yourself, do what you accuse these "Negroes" of when you attempt to assess Blacks who are not in your proximity, painting all of them with the broad brush of a self-hating slave mentality. But, what makes the scenarios you conc…

Today, June 7th, would've been Prince's 58th birthday. Back in the 1980s, my 2 daughters were Prince fanatics. And it wasn't long before after being constantly exposed to his unique funky sound, I became a fan of his too, even accompanying them to his concerts over the years. In the early 90s, however, I pretty much abandoned the ol boy because his music no longer hooked me like the songs back in his hey day. "Adore" was the last song by him that I really dug. But I did take the title of my last self-published effort "The Only One", from a line in his song "I wanna be your lover." Saturday, my daughter is having a belated birthday observation for Prince.
