  1. This thread was started to continue the conversation I was having with Delano in another thread but obviously anyone interested can comment. The context of this thread can be found in here: https://aalbc.com/tc/topic/4423-i-met-an-inventor-at-barnes-nobles-bookstore/ 1) First, there are 4 MAIN sexual orientation types: 1. Heterosexual -those attracted to the opposite sex 2. Homosexual -those attracted to the same sex 3. Bisexual -those attracted to both the same and opposite sex 4. Well, with a new television season on the horizon, fans of the small acreen are being bombarded with the trailers touting all the new and returning shows. The announcement that jolted me the most was the revelation that Valerie Harper will be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars! It wasn't too long ago that Mary Tyler Moore's TV sidekick, a/k/a Rhoda, was appearing before cameras, putting on a brave face announcing that she had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Although in her early 70s, Valerie/Rhoda was still feisty and upbeat, vowing to fight to the end. I feel so inadequate. Here this half-dead septagenarian is getting ready to go through her paces,…

First, I'm not pulling up stakes here in FL and relocating to Florida (at least not right now), but what I have done is commit to moving to Tulsa for a year as part of a privately funded program, called Tulsa Remote to attract cool people like myself to move to Tulsa and infuse the city with some diversity and class LOL! The program includes a variety of incentives, free co-working space, $10K, deals on housing and more. They also covered a visit to the city (I visited l…

Last year, there were a lot of hype about certain Hispanic contestants and now, all of a sudden, it seems, the shift of spotlight has concentrated on the Black girls!? So not only was the big news of how the runner up to Miss Universe was Miss Nigeria USA, but on our side of the water were the many Black beauties too, that won some titles. Maybe he was similar to Plessey Ferguson where only one of his eight great-grand parent was Black and he presented as a white man too. We know he lived his life, most of it anyway, as a Black man. By today's standard, he would be likened to the Rachel Dolezal (sp?) of the world. CLEARLY The 13th amendment only transformed the conditions in which slavery can occur, and DID NOT abolish it. And there are literally just as many slaves ALLOWED BY LAW today as there were back at the worst times of slavery in the U.S., I really believe this needs to be fixed and the 13th Amendment needs to state that slavery can not be allowed under ANY circumstance, and I know I can't be the only one that feels this way. One of the films stars, Olivia Mary de Havilland is still running around and will be 99 in July! I knew McDaniel was the 1st Black actor to win an Oscar, however after seeing the film, it was for a role, in my opinion, no more remarkable than the one Halley Berry earned her award. 41. What "We Want Our Country Back" Really Means White Citizenship By MARGARET KIMBERLEY The founding fathers made one thing perfectly clear when they ratified the constitution in 1787. Full citizenship rights were meant only for white men of property. Over a period of nearly 200 years, people’s movements guaranteed that those rights were extended to everyone regardless of race or gender, but the fact that the struggle literally took centuries should not be forgotten. It is tempting to snicker at the sight of today’s Tea Party members, grown men wearing knee breeches and three-cornered hats. Yet their costumes tell an important tale. They evoke an era still seen a…

It is a necessary fight in order to close the ‘racial wealth gap’ in America. The human history has always been about society being structured with rulers and workers. There may be a few exceptions to this rule but they aren't significant. Many think the above expression is a trite cliche or an empty phrase. But I've always found it to be totally adequate because, in and of itself, it stands alone, unchallenged; language at its best, reality captured in pure and simple words, the essence of its message existing between the lines, reminiscent of the old adage about "one picture being worth a thousand words". An esoteric echo, "it is what it is" is what it is: a profound utterance that translates into the ultimate truth. See ya... 😉 Mother's Day 2025
