Culture, Race & Economy

This board's purpose is to facilitate the exchange of opinions, ideas, facts, and information as it relates to Black people.

  1. I've noticed over the past 10 years or so not only is there a rise in Black female/ White male relationships.....but for the past year or so I've noticed that they have actually OVER TAKEN the Black male / White female relationships! Maybe I'm just noticing it more but it appears that now in 2024 in the public places I've been, there are MORE Sistaz running around with White dudes than Bruthaz running around with White women. This is a huge problem in my opinion for a number of reasons..........

  2. We will be interviewing Jordan Davis's parents on Friday, if you have any question for them please post them below, we will try to work them into the interview. In 3 1⁄2 MINUTES, TEN BULLETS, two lives intersected and were forever altered. On Black Friday in 2012, two cars parked next to each other at a Florida gas station. A white middle-aged male and a black teenager exchanged angry words over the volume of the music in the boy’s car. A gun entered the exchange, and one of them was left dead. Michael Dunn fired 10 bullets at a car full of unarmed teenagers and then fled. Three of those bullets hit 17-year-old Jordan Davis, who died at the scene. Arrested the next day,…

  3. While I disliked the film Us, one thing I did like about it was the presentation of a straight up dark-skinned Black family. No obviously mixed Black people, no swirling couples. But seemingly, the vast majority of couples where Black people are involved are mixed race -- usually a Black woman with a white guy. I'm not sure if I'm just more sensitive to this when I see it and it has an out sized impression on me or if it is indeed true. I mentioned to a friend recently who dismissed my comment when I brought up the issue, but then we observed, together, exactly what I meant and she was forced to agree. Of course I have no problem wi…

  4. Lorraine Hansberry was a genius! The way in which she described institutionalized racism through characters in "A Raisin in the Sun" was brilliant. However, it is little known that her play, A Raisin in the Sun (though reflective of the story of the collective) was also very much reflective of her personal experiences. Link: http://www.wttw.com/main.taf?p=76,4,4,10 "Chicago native and author Lorraine Hansberry drew on childhood experiences to write her acclaimed novel-turned-play A Raisin in the Sun, in which a black family faces discrimination after buying a home in an all-white neighborhood. I guess she is loving all the freedoms our beautiful flag represents after seeing what real injustice is all about opposed to fake injustice. This is what happens when a bunch of spoiled thugs protest issues they have absolutely no clue about. Maybe the brat thug gets released soon and she could be more respectful. In an ironic twist, Brittney who was trying to play the victim role is now an actual victim. Be careful for what you wish for.

Even though I did not follow this story about Monique that happened some time ago, I did hear about it. And so, now after the videos aired, I understand it better. It seems that Monique claimed that she had been Black-listed [ie Black balled] a few years back and she became upset and made some comments against, Steve Harvey, Ophrah Winfrey, Lee Daniels and Whoopi Goldberg. Prior to this incident, apparently Monique became angry because after some kind of performance, she was only paid half a million dolla…

I touched on this in another thread recently and I went a little more in depth with Mel some years back when I said I don't like and in many cases do not tolerate White men or men of other races "getting their goodies" with the best of our women. I don't believe Black men are jealous ENOUGH. Especially when it comes with seeing our women interact with men of other races. We can get jealous with EACHOTHER and often engage in all types of playa hatin' tactics to throw salt in eachother's game when it comes to the opposite sex. But when it comes to that White boy hanging around trying to start conversations and sneak a giggle or two from our sistaz....mos…

I imagine most of us are accustomed to seeing a maps of the world that look, more or less, like the one below. I was well into my adult years before I realized just how much larger Africa is than the United States (more than 3 times the size, including Alaska). Africa is almost 14 times the size of Greenland! Russia is little more than 1/2 the size of African. Mexico is bigger than Alaska. Obviously none of these facts could be discerned from the maps we normally see. Anthony T. Browder in his documentary film, Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization (at the 7:30 mark), based upon his book of the same name, offers reasons for the distorted world map, as…

This number is sometimes recorded as 77.1% when it includes about 2% of the population who self-identified as "white" in combination with one or more other races; about 6% also identified ethnically as Hispanic. The largest ethnic groups (by descent) among white Americans were Germans, followed by the Irish and the English. …

So I listened to the entire CD again and was just as moved as the first time I heard it. But it also struck me because it reminded me of @Pioneer1, it made me think of him because I think of all the people on the forum he is most similar to me in terms of what it means to be Black. We share a similar "culture." I "get" everything Pioneer writes even though I'll disagree with him from time to time. Everything he writes is familiar. The Hurricane Dorian situation had me a bit down emotionally the past few days. The fact that this storm roars into a category 5 hurricane and heads straight for the U.S. and then STOPS in it's tracks over the Bahamas and stays there for nearly 2 days before making an "L" and moving north as it loses strength is almost unbelievable. No one can tell me this was totally co-incidental and simply part of nature. For one thing, storms don't STOP in the middle of their rack and do a little dance for 2 days before moving on. Also, since when do storms make sharp "L" movements? They may curve and make wide turns, but head west only to stop r…

Game. After watching the sequel to Wall Street, “Money Never Sleeps”, director Oliver Stone did a wonderful job to shoot the film with the focus on what these traders did on a regular basis. The story tells itself, but he focused on the nooks and crannies, which he is a master at. He captured the mannerisms and little details, such as a broker guzzling down a 5 hour energy drink, which gives the viewer insight to the job and what it takes to perform it. Trading stock, analyzing it and managing it requires high brain activity, linear thinking and some ad-libbing when things get hot in the kitchen. Most of us will not participate in such a high-risk,…

White Supremacy 2. Black stupidity I focus a lot of my time talking about White Supremacy, but not AS much discussing Black stupidity. First, what IS "stupidity"? Being stupid is more than just lacking education or knowledge. That's simply being IGNORANT and it can be corrected by being provided with proper information if your intelligence is NORMAL.
