AALBC.com NewsWebsite Tips and Recommendations

A Great Tip and Advice for Creating a Blog or Website (Part II)

(Continued from Part I)

The following Plugins are the ones I’ve kept so far:

WP-FB-AutoConnect (Version 1.5.4)
A Login/Logout widget with Facebook Connect button, offering hassle-free login for your readers. Also provides a good starting point for coders looking to add more customized Facebook integration to their blogs.  (See brownish looking arrow below)
Download this plugin at: http://www.justin-klein.com/projects/wp-fb-autoconnect

FaceBook Share (New) (Version 1.9.2)
Adds a button which allows you to share post and also shows the number of times the post or page has been shared through out the Facebook just like tweetme button does for twitter. (See brownish looking arrow below)
Download this plugin at: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/facebook-share-new/

Social Slider (Version 5.1.2)
This plugin adds links to your social networking sites’ profiles in a box floating at the left side of the screen. (See black looking arrow below)
Download this plugin at: http://xn--wicek-k0a.pl/projekty/social-slider

Tweet This (Version 1.8)
Popular Twitter plugin inserts “Tweet This” links so your readers can share posts with one click. Automatically tweets new posts via OAuth. (See green arrow below)
Download this plugin at: http://richardxthripp.thripp.com/tweet-this/

Widgets
Widgets are basically self contained block of code that you can perform specific tasks.  You can customize your own widegts and do, seemingly, almost anything you want,

Google Ads
The Blue Arrows point to advertising I added my placing code provided by Google code directly into a Text Widget.  You need a lot of traffic to generate meaningful revenue from serving Google ads — but every bit helps. (See blue arrow below)

Facebook Like
The code for the panel, showing 28 friendly faces, kind enough to “Like” AALBC.com was obtained from Facebook.  Again this code was placed into a Text Widget that was dragged and dropped into the right hand side panel (see red arrow).  By the way, if you like AALBC.com or at least this Blog post, please show your support by clicking “Like” now.

Sample Word Press Blog Post on AALBC.com's BlogI also downloaded and installed the following Plugins:

Blogger Importer (Version 0.3)
Import posts, comments, tags, and attachments from a Blogger blog.
Download this plugin at: http://wordpress.org

Akismet (Version 2.4.0)
Checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not.
Download this plugin at: http://akismet.com/

Google Analytics for WordPress (Version 4.0.9 )
This plugin makes it simple to add Google Analytics to your WordPress blog, adding lots of features, eg. custom variables and automatic clickout and download tracking.
Download this plugin at: http://yoast.com/wordpress/google-analytics/

I hope this helps and encourages you to carve out a piece of the web for your very own.  If you have any questions please free to comment.

Troy
