  3. raised an issue about the reduction in participation on the AALBC.com discussion boards in recent years, suggesting that Facebook and social media was the cause. I have not taken the time to quantify the reduction, but anyone who has been observing our boards in recent years knows participation is lower. The life of a discussion board is a direct function of the level and quality of the conversation so this is an issue that I care about and since AALBC.com is a one man operation I typically have not had enough time to really delve in the causes and take more aggressive action reverse the trend. Over the last 15 years I've collected data on how the site is used as well…

  4. This is another recent incident! This woman, Hilary Thorton, was filmed by the African American young man that she confronted, and his video went viral. Ms. Thorton confronted him at the entrance of the luxury apartment in St. Louis and demanded that he show her proof that he lived their and she tried to block him from going through the door. What is it with these women that are so confident they can just confront a male!? A Black man!? But get this; She was married to a Black man! But she had been separated from her husband and he did respond. He said that they had been separated over a year. Anyway, Ms. Thorton, followed this young man after he got passed h…

This is really a follow up to a conversation that divereged from the inherent beauty of Black women to spirituality. Often we hear the phrase, "Everything happens for a reason." The phrase is bandied about so much it is a cliche; a catch-all, used in place of an actual explanation. No matter how bad the event: "Everything happens for a reason." Death of a child, genocide, a fender bender, lost keys, running into an old flame or meeting a new one; "Everything happens for a reason." Of course this means that the Universe, Zeus, Jehovah, or (insert your favorite deity) had a hand in it. Does anyone believe this? Do…

February is Black History month, and I feel fortunate that my repository of memories makes my brain comparable to an organic history book, chapters of which I want to share. Being the proud great-granddaughter of freed-slaves I've decided to pull rank and briefly assume the role of a griot. I beg your indulgence. I confess to also taking pride in the fact that Prohibition was repealed the same year I was born, making it possible for people to legally drown their sorrows in booze as both me and the Great Depression came into being. Since then just what have I lived through, that most of you haven’t? Read on. Starting with Franklin D. Roosevelt, and …

All Trump did during the last debate is continue besmirching the life and accomplishments of Joe Biden, terribly misrepresenting his positions. It is quite comical that Trump believes it's unfair for citizens call him on his failures. But he has no problem claiming the successes of Barack Obama and Biden are somehow, his. He never had a plan to replace the Affordable Care Act. He still has no plan to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, which is about to get worse. Oh, and all the w…

Everybody else is out of the question, particularly Donald Trump, that ego-maniacal, fascistic xenophobic, ignorant mouthpiece of the worst America has to offer. (Funny how when checking out the Wendy Williams show the other day, watching her toddle around in stiletto heels, almost pitching forward from the weight of her enormous implants, her glassy eyes peeking out from the drapery of her latest wig, lasciviously sharing gossip with her enraptured audience of giddy women and gay men all of whom ha…

This is not something i have to work at; my rejection is genuine and readily forthcoming when it comes to the majority of Pioneer's assertions, - as opposed to former poster, Chris Burns, who i always agreed with. Strange. i actually disliked former poster Sara as a person, and this fueled my compulsion to dismantle her deviousness. When it comes to Mel, her ideas are so fresh that what she says coaxes my approval. i have normal relationships with Troy and Del, either agreeing or di…

Even if we could organize a boycott would we be willing to make any short term sacrifices for a long term gain? There are many things that Black people are responsible for making happen from the Obama presidency to the success of TV shows like Empire. My reaction to her use of the N-word was that people are over reacting. It just seems inconsistent to hold Paula to a higher standard regarding the use of the N-word in her private life than we hold a comedian or rapper who uses the word in front of thousands. I don't use the N-word or any profanity much today but as a teen and young adult I used the n-word all the time. Is was part of the way me and I peer spoke. It was not a Physics Changing event. Neil DeGrasse Tyson sent out a public letter on 9/12/2001 admitting that he lived 4 blocks from Ground Zero and had to leave his home because of the dust. However I am not aware of his discussing the Physics of the Destruction of the Towers since then. Living in New York he should see skyscrapers quite often and being an astrophysicist he should understand some fundamental things about them. How does the steel have to be distributed…

"42" tells the story of two men-the great Jackie Robinson and legendary Brooklyn Dodgers GM Branch Rickey-whose brave stand against prejudice forever changed the world by changing the game of baseball. In 1946, Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford) put himself at the forefront of history when he signed Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) to the team, breaking Major League Baseball's infamous color line. If we look at the Pyramids of Giza, for example, how could we possibly ignore the fact the humanity MUST have known a lot more, in the past, than we recognize. This is more than about failing to recognize the accomplishments of Black people, I don't expect white folks to do that, but clearly in an effort to erase the accomplishments of Black people, we are throwing the baby with the bath water. I also believe our mortally corrupt and inept level of spiritual consciousness is also far behind what ancient an MUST have known. …

The AfroAmerican community is very divided but AfroAmerican males are EVEN MORE divided than the AfroAmerican community in general! The root of this division is the lack of a clear MORAL/ETHICAL CODE that exists among us. Simply put, most AfroAmerican men can't agree with eachother on what is RIGHT or WRONG morally or on how one should conduct themselves in society. And because of this we either go by our own OPINIONS or let OTHERS from outside of our demographic including Europeans, Arabs, or even AfroAmerican women whom we want to impress or sleep with influence our thinking and behavior.....and then often end up fighting with EACHOTHER over these externally cre…

But the articles linked at the end of this post, are complaints from two groups: one a gender race, the other a linguistic race, not the black phenotypical race. What is my point? Black people in the usa and elsewhere tend to complain that we are the only ones who complain and everyone else are great do-ers, the two articles prove by the words of those in other communities, they are not do-ers.
