Actually YOUR stance on "race" is illogical. Knowing that race is a CATEGORY, logically speaking there MUST be more than one option. So for you to take the position that there is only ONE race....the human race. Is like saying that there is only ONE flavor of soda pop....the "soda pop" flavor. See my point? To say there is only ONE race....the human race....would be like claiming the words "race" and "human" are almost synonymous.

What is culture and cultural traditions that are unique to Africans (ascendant) in America? I hear some folks complain about cultural appropriation. But I’m not sure what we consider cultural isn’t actually assimilation. Without researching, I can think of a few things that are uniquely African American 1) buck dancing 2) gospel singing with 4 part harmony (the quartets) 3) drumming (djembe drums) 3) jazz music composition 4) scat / Rap / hip hop 5) trimming hair on the first friday of the new moon...observing & worshipping nature in general 6) seasoning foods with herbs and animal fats, 7) …

Well, Troy, you asked me whether it was easier to raise kids 60 years ago than it is now, and - you know what happens when you pose a question to me… Back then, kids were kids. Having a baby was just a routine part of life. You got married in your early twenties and in a couple of years started a family. Children were kept in perspective. You had em, you raised em and tried to teach em right from wrong. You often made sacrifices for them. If they were ambitious enough to want to go to college, you got a second job and sent them off to an institution of higher learning. You might have even exhausted your bank account to give your daughter a big wedding. Then, you c…

I was in Atlanta over the weekend, in the running for the “Literary Activist of the Year” Award. The awards ceremony was actually part of an entire weekend of events hosted by AAMBC (African Americans on the Move Book Club). I attended one of the events, a panel discussion billed as the following: “Meet relationship experts Terry Deron, Jevon Dewand, Gregory Alan Williams, and Stephan Labossiere and others in a conversational piece moderated by Rolling Out journalist Christal Jordan.” The Brothers on the panel were all good looking, very articulate, and successful. Two were former professional athletes, one was an author and artist, and the other was an actor.…

I find this interesting because I've had a few similar experiences myself and it one of the reasons I DON'T smoke weed. I've tried weed a few times in highschool and a few more times in my 20s.....once in my 30s...and left it alone. On each occasion (except one where I believe the weed was laced) absolutely nothing happened. I got the same effect as smoking a cigarette. Black women not only commit violent assaults but also murder and armed robbery MUCH MORE than any other race. Again, this is fact. One just needs to look at recent video footage and news articles, its absolutely insane. Black women are angry, scary, and vicious. Its the black culture and lack of family values, structure, and poor impulse contol.

Karin Stanford, who was Jackson’s mistress and fathered a child with the civil rights leader, is slapping Jackson with court papers claiming that the former Democratic presidential candidate owes $11,64.50 in child support for their 12-year-old daughter Ashley. The National Enquirer exposed the long-term extramarital affair in an exclusive in January 2001. Jackson, who is still married to his wife, Jackie, admitted paternity. He paid court-ordered support and regularly visited Ashley in Stockton, Calif.…

Interesting message I saw recently from Dr. Ray Hagins a former pastor on why the Bible can not be the word of God The content where he offers his evidence really begins at the 43 minute mark for those who have time and want to hear the message: Much of what he said I already know, but maybe some of you may be more interested in hearing it and deciding for yourself.

Editor's Note: This conversation is being continued here because it was a dramatic digression from the subject where it picked up, "Another Controversial Time Magazine or Can Black Women Catch a Break" Del, the definition of what you wrote about my response was "dismissive." Why do you get away with being dismissive? Del you understand is statistics, no one has disputed it all called that into question, what I've called into question is your knowledge about climate, a subject you have neither asserted or demonstrated, detailed knowledge of. @frankster I'm not sure why you would find the concept of "degrees of Blackness" so much more divisive. It's not like AfroAmerica hasn't ALREADY been divided since it's inception by degrees of Blackness. Most mixed and light skinned people have historically enjoyed privileges that the majority of our people weren't privy to, whether they asked for those privileges or not. In the past most mixed and light skinned people saw themselves not only as different than other AfroAmericans but in many ways BETTER than other AfroAmericans. Today this isn't so much the case AS MUCH as it was in the past...but it's still there in many circles. Infact, many AfroAmer…

I recently came across an article on Reddit speaking on the traumas many black Americans face growing up. Many of the points the author made really resonated with me, the disparities in the black communist does a great deal of harm to all of us whether we know it or not. The most interesting part of the article to me was the idea that the majority don't see as human so they assume we commit crimes because we're just prone to it. But whites are seen as humans, because when they commit crimes they are seen as mentally ill. If there any thoughts about this article let me know, I think this is a problem that needs to be discussed in great detail. I haven't found to many other…

Though the opening credits have nothing to do (that is apparent) to the film, it is pretty cool to watch: Kam completely trashed the film, in an uncharacteristic fashion, in his review: …a boring vampire adventure that’s severely lacking in terms of tension, thrills, premise, storyline, special f/x, plausibility, production value, editing and character development… I had a renewed distain, after learning about the final product, for Spike use of the Kickstarter platform. It seems like the public was taken advantage of, or rather simply taken by this campaign. I blogged about it.
