Biography of Kam Williams

Lloyd “Kam” Joseph Williams (December 11, 1952 – May 30, 2019) was a syndicated film and book critic who wrote for AALBC.com and over one hundred other publications in the U.S. and Canada. He was a member of the New York Film Critics Online, the African-American Film Critics Association, the NAACP Image Awards Nominating Committee, and Rotten Tomatoes.

Kam has written thousands of book and film reviews over the years. AALBC has published almost 900 of his articles and reviews including his popular “Blacktrospective,” Kam’s annual assessment of the best in Black cinema.

In addition to a BA in Black Studies from Cornell, he had an MA in English from Brown, an MBA from The Wharton School, and a JD from Boston University. Kam lived in Princeton, NJ with his wife.

The AALBC family was blessed by his presence. He will be missed. AALBC mourns the passing of Kam Williams.
